HT201364 how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

how do I uninstall OS X Mavericks and revert back to OS mountain lion?

You can't uninstall an OS X version. You would have to erase the drive and reinstall a prior OS version. That's why you should never upgrade without having a backup.
However, just about any router in the world should work with Mavericks, without the need of any DVD supplied software.

    Hi,
Can you please expand on your issue? As far as I can see all the previous functions of 11 are in 12 albeit shown differently. Using get info to edit date is still possible, again it looks and feels different.

  • Will uninstalling Mavericks and reverting back to Lion restore iMovie to 9.0.0?

I’m someone who regularly uses iMovie to edit videos for YouTube, and given that my iMovie 9.0.4 recently decided to go bonkers beyond repair, I can no longer use it, for it’s no longer on my Mac.
In short, iMovie 10 is an utter disgrace, and I want iMovie 9 back. Now, in order for me to get iMovie 9 back, will uninstalling Mavericks and reverting back to Lion (a better OS in my opinion anyway) return iMovie to its former glory? My Mac didn’t come with a disc, so how would this work?
Thanks for any help can may be provided!

You should still have iMovie9 in a folder after Mavericks upgrade.  It did not delete it.  Check your applications.

Rather than fiddle with the tar file, if it wasn't saved, or using Pacifist, simply DL and install the
Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 update. It'll wipe all Safari 5.1 components and install Safari 5.0.5.

  • How can I uninstall Pages 5.2 and go back to Pages 4.3?

I am very frustrated using Pages 5.2.  It is not as easy to use as 5.2 and causes me all sorts of problems - especially when highlighting text.  How can I uninstall Pages 5.2 and go back to Pages 4.3 which was much easier to use?

Thanks. The new version of Pages and iMovie are useless to me. I need to delete the new version of Pages so my functional documents won't keep trying to "upgrade" to pages 5.2.  It annoys me to no end. I hope they smarten up soon.
It seems that Apple is trying to turn its computer applications into iphone apps. They are eliminating essential features and functions that don't work on a 600 dollar pocket watch. It appears to be part of a misguided attempt to have universal cross-platform compatibility. Or they just want to get out of the computer business. I suspect that accountants are having too much influence on business models. There is a place for accountants. But giving too much control to bean counters can eliminate quality and cripple innovation, leading to the ultimate downfall of the corporation.

Hi! is it possible that Logic X has upgrades that work only with mavericks and does t work in mountain lion....since in my macbook pro with mavericks i have new views of the equalizer, etc and in my mac pro with mountain lion it still the old view...

Any OS version of 10.8.4 or later has all features that are not OS depended. The plugins are one example. You probably haven't updated all versions of Logic Pro X to the latest one.

  • How do I uninstall 10.5.2 and get back to 10.5.1

the new update has destroyed my printing. Until Apple fixes the problem, I NEED my printer, so I'd like to delete the update. Of course I have the original disk... so how do a take out the new and return to the original Leopard.

Adding my experiences to the discussion... My sisters 1.83 iMac (Early 2006) had some crazy stuff going on after the update. I ran Disk Warrior from my MacBook Pro with the iMac as a target disk and DW told me that it could not rebuild the directory, mentioning media errors among the problems. I started to think that the HDD was the problem after Disk Utility failed to repair the disk until I booted from the Leopard DVD, and found that her 10.5.2 update coincidence with all of her problems (all Mail lost, black menu bars, a whole host of new apps in the Dock that weren't there before, and other unknown problems). However, I was unable to restore from the earlier TM backup (thankfully they bought an external at Xmas), because the HD couldn't be found, so I erased the HD and now I am reinstalling Leopard from the DVD and will restore the system from the last 10.5.1 TM backup. If there is anything that I could have done differently, let me know. I'll post an update once I get it all back up and running.

  • I would like to uninstall the latest update and revert back to the most recent version

I've seen several posts asking how to uninstall a recent update with a reason for wanting to do this and not one of them actually answers the question. I have an add-on that I really have grown fond of that is not compatible with the latest update and simply want to know how to go back to the previous version of firefox.

Question here, not an answer so leaving with a unresolved issue.
I strongly want to Un-install Update 27.0 and revert all things back to 26.? Just tell me if I can do this without loosing all my settings and starting over????. 27.0 is not playing nice with a MAJOR website I have no control over nor can I share it online.. The kicker, don't laugh I'm using XP updated to the max. A straight answer please,I've spent hours crawling through answers and questions.
Add me to the List of numerous people who want to un-install a Update.
Thanks in Advance for the answer. 02-12-2014

  • Revert back to osx mountain lion from mavericks?

Since updating to osx mavericks I have encountered numerous issues with my multi display set up to the extent that I have decided to go back to mountain lion
My question is how do I go about doing this as I have tried to go through the recovery but this only gives me the option to install mavericks
I have daily back ups so data loss is not a threat and I understand that erasing the drive is the most likely option
Any help  will be appreciated I need this fixed ASAP as I need the set up for audio & video editing work!!!

  • The logic board of my macbkpro 10.6.8 (OS ML) has died. I want t migrate info to another McbkPro (OS Snow Leopard) but is asking me to update to same OS. Can I update the latter to Mavericks and migrate the info from Mountain lion? thanks

Hi i took my macbook pro to an apple store because it would not start correctly. The veredict was that the logic board was dead. As this is a very expensive item to replace, I have decided I will buy a new one but I am currently overseas, and will wait a couple of months when I get back home. This is a macbookpro 15 inch early 2011, running on Mountain Lion OS. I have another macbook pro 13inch running on snow leopard. At the store we tried to migrate the info using an ethernet cable (using the "T" command on startup) but the system asked for an update of the OS. The guy at the store told me I had to update the OS so that the two macs would be on the same OS - mountain Lion. As the newest (and free) OS is Mavericks, I wonder wheather I coud update the 13 inch mac to mavericks and perform the migration. The guy at the store was explicit to say that if the OS were different it would not work. But reading on the apple website it seems that mavericks support this kind of migration altough is not explicit about it. Can you please help?
    thanks

    Hi BobRz,
As this is a new issue for me, I believe I had the incorrect approach, maybe you can help me. What I want to do is recover a few files in my desktop, and some information i had on the iCal application and the Mail application as well.As I do not want to do a full migration into this computer (which is not mine) I believe that starting the damaged MBP in Target mode should allow me to search and cop the files I need. But:
    1. Can I open the Ical and mail apps to look for the info I need while reading it as an external HD  ?
    2. Do the target machine (my friends) still need to be updated to ML o Mavs so that it recognizes my MBP as an external drive if starting it in Target mode ? (no migration assistant)
    Thanks.

  • How do i uninstall lightroom 4.4 and get back to 4.3?

I certainly made a mistake trying 4.4.  I did a few things in 4.4 am not sure where the problem started, but i made numerous changes in photoshop (always updating the metadata) and things seemed fine.  Then i created a new file in photoshop and did an import, but since i had a flash drive plugged in, LR imported from that.  Where those photos went in LR, I don't know.  Was the catalog actually updated, I don't know.  I removed the flash drive and synchronized folders.  From that point on, i had problems with metadata.  I have been very careful uploading and downloading the metadata properly when linking to photoshop and creating new files from an original opened from lightroom.  However, now in LR, metadata seems to be a problem.  My filter 'unsaved metadata' had 20-30 files, and i know they were ok.  I saved them anyway (maybe not a good idea).  Interesting thing, LR keeps showing those files with unsaved metadata, even after I save them.  It's like LR 4.4 isn't saving metadata.  I absolutely know there is a problem because of an original dng file that i didn't touch showed as unsaved metadata.
At this point, I'm going to have to revert to my last catalog backup prior to installing 4.4.  Then i want to deinstall 4.4 and reinstall 4.3.  I'm a bit unclear how to do this.  I'll save my settings and previews and backup catalogs, but with all the downloading these days, I'm not sure I have LR dvds.

Findings to date:  first, thanks to everyone for suggestions.  I chose a less drastic approach than deinstall, and still have 4.4.  Reviewing the responses, I suddenly remembered that I had a similar problem in 4.3, but only one time. And I confirmed this problem in 4.4.  I can't give you a scenario for how it happened, or why it happens to some images and not others.  It's not a security problem, though that was a good idea to check out.  My solution in 4.3 was simply to delete the photos (didn't really need them)!  What happens is that when I click on the down arrow on an image to write metadata to file, the down arrow does not go away, so it seems that the metadata is not updated.  However, when I look at the properties in Windows Explore for that image, it shows the date updated as the date that I hit the arrow, so the metadata, I believe, IS being updated.  If this is true, then it is simply some error in 4.4 (and existed in 4.3) as to how LR updates its own arrow.  Here's another interesting thing.  I tried 'edit in photoshop' and making a change, just to see what happens.  Well, that REALLY resulting in some strange behavior SOME TIMES, but not all times.  Some times, when i made a slight change in PS, saved, and returned to LR, the active link between LR and PS served to update the metadata flag.  However on some occasions a new image was created, and I did this a number of times.  It would have a name something like the original image name with "_edit-1", _"edit-2", etc.  Before I noticed what was going on, I just saw the unsaved metadata flag, and edited one of those copies in PS, and would come back to LR with another new image and an increased name, such as "_edit-4", etc.
So, rather than uninstalling, I carefully reviewed most of my images in the catalog to determine the extent of the damage, and these peculiarities affected far fewer images than I had thought.  I updated the metadata when notified, and most of them worked.
However, I will say that I am quite certain that I had not changed some of these images in order to get that metadata out of sync indicator.  A few of the images that showed the metadata out of sync were complete original dng images that I KNOW I did nothing to so I'm quite sure this was a mistake on LR's part, but I can't prove it because I know that other software affects metadata, including Bridge which I try to stay out of.  These particular images, and they were few in number, simply would not update the tag when i clicked the indicator.  Anyway, I suggest folks really check out the metadata functions, but like I said, I believe this problem exists in 4.3, also, but why only a small subset of images, I don't know.

  • How do I Uninstall 10.9.2 and get back 10.8.6 ?

I recently downloaded Maverick 10.9.2   I am having lots of problems.  I tried to open a Numbers file ("Recipes Numerically") stored in my Desktop Documents folder.
Instead of the Numbers Icon near the top of the dock bouncing back and forth, a new Numbers Icon appears at the bottom of the dock and does the bouncey thing. It opens a page saying "Welcome to Numbers" and wants me to click "Continue"  When I do it brings up another page. Then opens a blank numbers page titled "Recipes Numerically" with only one column. I now have lost that copious file that I've been updating for years.
PLEASE, can I get back to my old, familiar, friendly 10.8.6?

    Thanks Tony & Peter,
Unfortunately, I do not have Wi-Fi, hence no Time Machine.  I'm hooked to a DSL cable. Can I redo my operating system by restarting my
computer using the original Snow Leopard 10.6 Install DVD ?   I do have Carbonite
and have many things backed up on that. I also have files backed up on SunDisk external memory cards.
Also I have a LOT of files generated by ClarisWorks 4.0 for Teachers that are residing on my old MAC Tower. I understand that ClarisWorks will only run on OS 9 Classic. Would I be able to use my OS 9
DVD to load it onto my present iMAC 20"/2.66/2GB/320/SD/MSE/KB  that I purchased
on 05/09 ?   If not, is there a program that will convert the ClarisWorks files
into Pages/Numbers Documents that will run on Snow Leopard ?  I would like to
get rid of my old computer, but it's the only one that'll run OS 9 and open those
    files.
Thanks again for all your help.

  • How do I uninstall Firefox 6.0 and go back to Firefox 5.x. I am a teacher and several secondary programs won't run with 6.0 and I do not want to upgrade them-too many downstream problems.

The most recent update was apparently on 8/18/11 and 8/20. Message comes up to upgrade Java, Real Time Player, and two other programs. I have not been able to use Real Time Player for about a month and it used to work well in the old version of Firefox. By the way, everything works fine in Internet Explorer (which I really don't want to use).

You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.
    Hi Mark,
