I have just upgraded to 3.6.10 and find FF now crashes when I load it.

After updating from 3.6.8 (or 9 not sure) to 3.6.10 I find FF crashes within a couple of seconds of starting. The very first time I got messages from my iGoogle home page asking me to enable cookies (they were) and to clear my cache (which I did). Now it simply closes and generates a crash report. I have uninstalled and re-installed to no avail. I have tried starting in safe mode, but have the same problem.
One other think that may be relevant. I am also running FF4 version 6 Beta. Although in separate folders, and apparently running independently since installing the update the Beta version is no longer running properly. I get an error message - "The operation can not be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly." Although FF opens after clearing the message, it does not connect to the web. I include the Troubleshooting info from the Beta version.
If I uninstall everything I am afraid I might lose all my bookmarks, etc. Any ideas before I take that step?

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.
