Firefox stores your personal data in the Firefox profile folder and that data is not affected by an uninstall and reinstall.

Does the regular Firefox 8 release version work or does the version crash as well?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • How do I set up Firefox with the same plugins, extensions and bookmarks on two different PCs?

I have a PC with Firefox 10.0.2 working happily and I want to reproduce exactly the same experience on my laptop. Both run on Windows 7. I want the samplugins, toolbars, extensions and bookmarks. How do I achieve this?

    Hi,
You can copy the current [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder] on the PC to the same directory structure on the laptop after installing Firefox on the laptop. Next on the laptop, start the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=profile&r=0&e=sph&as=s Profile Manager], '''Create Profile''' > '''Next''' > '''Choose Folder''' and select the copied folder.

I have a Power Book OS 10.4.11 and cant access my radio library.  I believe I deleted something I should not have. How do I reload Itunes and will I loose my music I loaded?  I do not have the original software.  I was trying to free up some memory and removed the wrong thing.

If you mean the listing of internet streams that seems to have disappeared for many users of older iTunes versions over week ago. Probably some update at Apple broke older versions.  No idea if it will ever come back but you can open stream URLs you find on the web and save them in playlists.

Nothing is working and I can't find the Roboform toolbar. Your lack of direct support is really irritating- a live chat at least would be helpful.

Look and see if there is a lock icon in the upper right corner of the iPad screen. If the icon is there, that indicates that you locked the screen orientation.
There are wo ways to unlock the screen - depending on how you have the settings configured on your iPad.
Check the side switch above the volume rocker on the side of the IPad. Flip the switch. If the lock icon goes away, the screen is unlocked and you had the iPad set to use the side switch for screen orientation.
The other place to look is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and swipe to the right at the bottom of the screen. Look all the way to the left. If there is a lock icon there, tap that to unlock the screen. Then tap the screen above the task bar to get back to the home screen.
IF ... There was no lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen, reboot the iPad and see if that unlocks the orientation.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
The article that Alan referenced above, explains how to use the side switch as the screen lock - or the way to mute system sounds. It is well worth a look.

On some sites we get sec_error_unknown_issuer SSL error due to missing root certificate TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XI. Firefox is the only browser having this issue. Why is that certificate not preinstalled and shipped with Firefox?
Check sales.sauer-danfoss.com for details with Firefox 7.
    Thanks
    Stefan

You are not sending the TC TrustCenter Class 2 L1 CA XI intermediate certificate
    *http://sales.sauer-danfoss.com/
Web servers need to send all required intermediate certificates to build the chain to build-in root certificates.
You need to install that intermediate certificate on your server.
You can test the certificate chain via a site like this:

  • I recently had to uninstall and reinstall firefox because I could not open it. Now all my websites and bookmarks are gone and I need to get them back. How?

I have lost all of my most visited websites, bookmarks, and all other data due to reinstalling firefox. I have some files in the Mozilla Firefox folder (C:\Program Files\(x86)\Mozilla Firefox) but none of them are able to be opened when I click Firefox>Bookmarks>Import and Backup>Backup. Is there any way to get all of my information back?

IOBit's software is worse than useless and shouldn't be used. Use Window's built in uninstaller for all install/uninstall processes
Firefox data is saved in your user files, which aren't saved via restore points, so if the information is not there (the article I linked to above would help you find it) then it looks like it was lost because iobit didn't give you an option to save your files. Unless you have a backup of your data somewhere.
You could try a file recovery system, but if you've made changse to your computer since uninstalling (like installing new software, restarting your machine even) it's most likely not going to work.

  • Please send instructions for correct way to UNINSTALL Firefox 5.0 and REINSTALL Firefox 3.6.3 and preserve all my cookies and bookmarks. DPGannon at sbcglobal dot net

Very simple: I do NOT want to use Firefox 5.0. I did not intend for it to be installed on this computer and need to get rid of it and go back to Firefox 3.6.3. Please send instructions on how I can do that without loosing my cookies and bookmarks.
I have been a fan and supporter of Mozilla and Firefox from the very beginning, but this latest release that appears to be a way to look like Google Chrome (that I hate) has me just about ready to hold my nose and go back to IE.
    What were you guys thinking?????
    Thank you.

Install the following Add-on until Google releases a new version of their toolbar that is compatible with Firefox 5. Google needs to test their toolbar with Firefox 5 and change one line in their code to make it compatilbe. Most Add-ons that worked with Firefox 4 should still work with Firefox 5, but the developers need to update a line in their Add-on's code to indicate with which versions of Firefox the Add-on is compatible. The following Add-on adds a "Compatibility" button in your Add-ons > Extensions that you may need to click after installing it and restarting Firefox.

  • How can I update to Firefox 27.0.1 without losing all my history and bookmarks?

I can't find a way to update Firefox. I tried following what they say and clicking "About Firefox" but it does absolutely NOTHING to help... It tells me to recheck for updates online and ends up sending me to the very same screen that said to click "About Firefox" in the first place! I also tried clicking on the update window that pops up, but whenever I click on it it will get stuck and only say, "connecting to server." I hear you can reinstall Firefox but I CANNOT lose all of my history and bookmarks. Is there anything on earth I can do?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 27.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • After installing 3.6.9 update, none of my plugins are working now. not one...why?everything is still installed and it didn't say that it's incompatible with my version of firefox but i can't see a thing..no foxtab, no script, etc...

after installing the update (3.6.9), all of my plugins are not working anymore...not a single one!

One of the files that stores details on installed add-ons may be corrupt. Try removing the files to see if that helps. Firefox will re-create the files and in the process re-build the list of installed extensions and themes. For details of how to do that see the section on corrupt extension files in the [[Unable to install add-ons#Corrupt extension files|unable to install add-ons]] article.

  • Since downloading Firefox on a new Windows 8 PC I have issues with adds imbedded in websites and IE10 shutting down & not working properly.

Downloaded Firefox since several websites we use are not yet fully compatible with IE10. Since downloading IE10 will register a problem as soon as opened, shut down, then reopen to same page. Also have adds embedded in websites like Facebook that were not there previously, as well as popups from Firefox (Deal Caddy???) that I can't figure out how to disable. Also noticed that the two-finger scrolling in Windows 8 (when using IE10) no longer works correctly. These issues only exist for one of two users on this computer. The user that did not install Firefox does not have the above issues.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select ''Add-ons'', or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the ''Tools'' menu and click ''Add-ons''.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the ''Remove'' button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.
You can find further information about uninstalling extensions in the following articles:
    [[Disable or remove Add-ons]]

  • Why did Firefox clear my history when it shouldn't have?

I don't know what caused this. I manually restarted Firefox and noticed in the Task Manager that Firefox's process was not ending. It does this from time to time, so I took a little break from the computer assuming that it would end in a minute or so. After a couple of minutes from the computer, I saw that Firefox's process was still running. Instead of manually ending the process, I reopened Firefox just because. And usually when you reopen while the process tries to end, a prompt comes up on the screen telling you that Firefox is still running and you should wait for it to close, but that did not happen. Instead, Firefox reopened while the process was still running from the last time. And when Firefox opened again, I didn't have any of my app tabs and all of my open tabs and tab groups from before were gone. So I tried checking the history tab for recently closed stuff and my old window with my app tabs, etc. was saved so I opened that and closed the window without my stuff thinking all would be well. But then I restarted Firefox again to assure that the process would close and it did, but when I reopened Firefox, my app tabs and opened tabs and tab groups were gone again but the recently closed windows menu was grayed out. So now all of my stuff is gone and I don't know how I can get it back or what specifically caused this to happen. It's really frustrating, especially considering that I don't have the box checked for Firefox to clear history when I close it, and I do have the box checked for Firefox to remember my browsing and download history. What can I do, if anything, to bring back my stuff? I tried restoring my history with FEBE, but it just keeps freezing up Firefox and isn't helping at all. Someone please help me.

    Hi,
You can try to check if there are additional profiles in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder]. If there are more profile folders, please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Profiles?s=profile&r=2&e=sph&as=s this].
If the Vista version has [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions Previous Versions] you can try to restore an old version of the '''*.default''' folder.
This could be related to [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=573369 Bug 573369] as noted in the [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/13.0.1/releasenotes/ Firefox 13.01 release notes] though in a different way. • When I try to close the Firefox window, it is not closing. I have to click outside of the window and click back on the x button in order to close it.

For example, if I type something into the Google search bar and then try to click on the minimize or close button, nothing happens. In order to close Firefox, I have to click ''outside'' the firefox window (on my desktop or task bar) and then I can click close. If I click inside the window again, I cannot close.

You could exit Firefox from the File menu. You can also use Ctrl-Shift-W to close the window.
