I use Earthlink mailbox, and I want my email links to open with Firefox, but they open with Internet Explorer; how to fix?

I am using Windows XP 2002 operating system; Earthlink mailbox program for email with AT&T Broadband.
I want to have Firefox as my default browser, but my email links open with Internet Explorer. I have followed the Firefox help page to set Firefox as my browser, but the problem remains.
Do you know how to fix this? Is it a problem with Earthlink?

I have Microsoft Outlook also with Firefox and can open just about every link, url, company page, etc via the email links. First, make sure you have noted the email as NOT JUNK so that the links are activated by Outlook. Second, Firefox needs to your default browser for the links to open in Firefox rather than IE. There are some links from Microsoft that may ignore the default and open in IE but not all anymore. I have a Sony laptop which ignores the default browser and opens all of its support information from its VAIO software loaded on the computer in IE. Besides that though, over 95% of my items will open in my default brwser selection, which is currently Firefox.

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.

The Scale control is what controls the size of what is printed to paper. 100% is usually the best setting.

Some videos and other websites no longer work in Firefox but still OK in internet explorer

In Firefox, when I click on some YouTube videos, I get an errot message. The same link works fine in internet explorer.

I can't use my password manager with firefox 5.0 and I want to go back to a previous verions but I can't work out how to do that

Roboform doesn't work with firefox 5.0, but it worked with my previous version of firefox. Moreover my internet banking site does not recognise firefox 5.0 either. I want to go back to the version I had (version 3.x.x I think), but I can't see how to do it.

@the-edmeister got me on the right track. I did have the working version of evernote, BUT I had to find the shortcut elephant button by choosing to customize the toolbar. It was at the bottom of that scroll down list. A bit tricky... And I really do need the little elephant!
Unfortunately the Evernote site has left up information inferring that they aren't compatible with Firefox 5.

Can't open AOL Mail with Firefox, but can open AOL website. Have to use Internet Exp. to get into mail. Help!

Have always been able to get into AOL Mail, until recently; last 2 - 3 days. Can get into AOL website, just not mail. No problem with any other websites. Have to get to mail using Internet Explorer, and I hate Internet Exp. What has happened and how do I fix it? I tried reloading Mozilla Firefox, but that did not help.

Hi--I tried your suggestion and no dice. A window came up with the following:The item 'Firefox.exe' that has this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete?
Another window said 'C:Program files (x86) Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.
I have no clue as to what that means. I did delete the shortcut.
Finally went into our Kaspersky virus protection and found Firefox is in quarantine and that is probably why I am unable to uninstall and reinstall.

Java 1.7.0_10 from Oracle Corp is working with my Explorer but when I go to a sight with Firefox, it shows that its not installed. When I go into Firefox's plug-ins, it shows that its enabled....How do I fix this?

Your plugins list only shows the Java Deployment plugin and not the Java plugin.<br />
A possible cause is that the Java installer failed to create the necessary registry keys that Firefox uses to scan for plugins.

I am unable to print (any website) from the latest Firefox, but print fine from Internet Explorer. Using Windows Vista on a desktop machine.

printer advances page and spits it out with either nothing or a single garbled line printed on it instead of a whole web page. This is independent of which web site and even happens with web sites that have a specific PRINT or PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION button. Printing is fine from Internet Explorer. Unsure about Chrome. Printing from Firefox worked fine until I downloaded newest version. Operating system is Windows Vista on a 64 bit desktop computer.
