If more than 3 /n then replace with /br /br /br

Hi all,
how can I do the following:
if given string has more than three consecutive occurrences of /n
replace it with </br></br></br>

Just tried it again and it is not replacing it.
I used this code
description = description.replaceAll("\r\n|\n","<br/>");and it works (replaces new line cars with <br>s)
to replace each occurence of new line character with <br> but then realized that I need to replace new line chars if there are more than three in a row.
When I use
str = str.replaceAll("\n{4,}", "<br/><br/><br/>");it wold not replace it.
