Insert the MDX Query Data into SSMS Table
Hi, I'm using below query frequently on SSAS .
select * from $system.discover_commands
I want that when this query executed & If any output returns , then that output should be inserted into SSMS
Table(OLTP DB) .
Hello,
You can use a linked server to SSAS to run queries from SQL Server against SSAS cubes and to insert the result into a relational table.

Inserting the Brio Query Data into EIS OLAP Model tables directly
Dear Experts,
Can someone please suggest how we can export data (result set records) from bqy files' queries into an EIS server's OLAP Model's tables?
Right now I have a cube on Essbase server getting the data from excel sheets which store the data from the execution of .bqy files.
Use of file system (excel sheets) has not been liked by my business users so now I need to avoid storing the data from brio queries into excel sheets for loading into the Essbase cube. This I am required to achieve using EIS/AIS so that the data from brio queries(.bqy files) can be directly inserted into Essbase cube with the help of (i.e. via) EIS/AIS.
Any quick help would boost the life of this project of mine.
Thank you,

Tirumala1. SELECT INTO
Below method will create table when data is inserted from one table to another table. Its useful when you need exactly same datatype as source table.
Use AdventureWorks2008R2;
Go
---Insert data using SELECT INTO
SELECT AddressLine1, City
INTO BothellAddresses
FROM Person.Address
where City = 'Bothell';
GO
---VERIFY DATA
Select AddressLine1, City
FROM BothellAddresses
---DROP TABLE
DROP TABLE BothellAddresses
GO
2. INSERT INTO SELECT
Below method will need table to be created prior to inserting data. Its really useful when table is already created and you want insert data from
another table.
Use AdventureWorks2008R2;
Go
---Create Table
CREATE TABLE BothellAddresses (AddressLine1 NVARCHAR(60), City NVARCHAR(30))
---Insert into above table using SELECT
INSERT INTO BothellAddresses(AddressLine1, City)
SELECT AddressLine1, City
FROM Person.Address
where City = 'Bothell';
---VERIFY DATA
Select AddressLine1, City
FROM BothellAddresses
---DROP TABLE
DROP TABLE BothellAddresses
GO

*then loop at it_line splitting it into the fields of your custom table.
loop at it_line.
split itline at ',' into
itab-name
itab-surname.
endloop.
then u can insert the values into yo table from the itab work area.

Getting the Datatype error data into a table or file
Hi experts,
I have a scenario where I need to capture the datatype mismatch records between source & target or the data length error records into a table or file.
For example.
1. I have source table column of datatype varchar which is mapped to a target table column of datatype Integer.
2. I have source table column of datatype varchar2(2000) is mapped to a target table column of datatype varchar2(200).
I know that while interface execution, if any of the above scenario comes an error occurs respectively and execution stops.
My question is whether is there anyway to capture those types of records and insert into a table or file. If yes kindly suggest me how to do it.
Thanks in advanceHi Siva,
Use SqlUnload tool to capture error out records in excel file.
Hope this will helps you
Thanks,

I wish to insert data into a table only when the value of the inserted data has changed. Thus, in a time series, if the value of the data at time, t-1, is 206 then if the data to be inserted at time t is 206, then it is skipped (not entered).
If the value of the data at time t+1 is 206, it is skipped also; until the value changes, so if the value at t+1 was 205, then that would be inserted, and if at time t+2 the data is 206, it would be inserted too.
What is the best way to do it without increasing overheads?This view works:
SELECT
i.IDNO,i.[Date],i.[Level]
FROM
mytable i
INNER
JOIN mytable
d
ON
d.IDNO
= i.IDNO-1
WHERE
i.[Level]
<> d.[Level]
on this mytable below. A trigger could be quite useful here although I am cautious using them. However I wish to avoid the overhead by not having a temp table (which could be sizable). mytable below
should give 3 lines. The IDNO is an identity column.

Insert the data into two tables at a time.
Hi ,
i have these two tables
create table [dbo].[test1](
[test1_id] [int] identity(1,1) primary key,
[test2_id] [int] not null
create table [dbo].[test2](
[test2_id] [int] identity(1,1) primary key,
[test1_id] [int] not null
alter table [dbo].[test1]
add constraint [fk_test1_test2_id] foreign key([test2_id])
references [dbo].[test2] ([test2_id])
alter table [dbo].[test2] add constraint [fk_test2_test2_id] foreign key([test1_id])
references [dbo].[test1] ([test1_id])
I want to insert the data into two tables in one insert statement. How can i do this using T-SQL ?
Thanks in advance.You can INSERT into both tables within one Transaction but not in one statement. By the way, you would need to alter your dbo.Test1 table to allow null for first INSERT test2_id column
See sample code below:
CREATE TABLE #test1(test1_ID INT IDENTITY(1,1),test2_id INT NULL)
CREATE TABLE #test2(test2_ID INT IDENTITY(1,1),test1_ID INT)
DECLARE @Test1dentity INT
DECLARE @Test2dentity INT
BEGIN TRAN
-- Insert NULL as test2_ID value is unknown
INSERT INTO #test1(test2_ID)
SELECT NULL;
-- get inserted identity value
SET @Test1dentity = SCOPE_IDENTITY();
INSERT INTO #test2(test1_ID)
SELECT @Test1dentity;
-- get inserted identity value
SET @Test2dentity = SCOPE_IDENTITY();
-- Update test1 table
UPDATE #test1
SET test2_ID = @Test2dentity
WHERE test1_ID = @Test1dentity;
COMMIT
SELECT * FROM #test1;
SELECT * FROM #test2;
-- Drop temp tables
IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#test1') IS NOT NULL
BEGIN
DROP TABLE #test1
END
IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#test2') IS NOT NULL
BEGIN
DROP TABLE #test2
END

Insert data into multiple tables
Hi all,
I've a requirement where i need to insert data into multiple tables using PL/SQL procedure
Procedure should have two parameters
1. Table Name (parameter1)
2. Data (parameter2)
Based on these two parameters i need to insert data into table (parameter1) using data (parameter2)
ex:
Procedure insert_data (p_table IN VARCHAR2
,p_data IN -- what should be the datatype?
IS
l_statement VARCHAR2(2000);
BEGIN
-- insert data into tables
INSERT INTO p_table
values (....);
END insert_data;Thanks in advance!!BEDE wrote:
Amen to that!
So, I believe a better approach would be the following...
Suppose you have N datafiles with the same structure, and you wish to insert into the database the data from all those files.
For that, you should have a single table, named, say incoming_file_data, which should be structured more or less like below:
create table incoming_file_data (
filename varchar2(250) not null -- name of the file inserted from
,file_time timestamp -- timestamp when the data was inserted
,... -- the columns of meaningful data contained in the lines of those files
);And you will insert the data from all those files in this table, having normally one transaction for each file processed, for otherwise, when shit happens, some file may only get to be partially inserted into the table...
Maybe one good approach would be to create dynamically an external table for the file to be loaded, and then execute dynamically insert select into the table I said, so that you will have only one insert select for one file instead of using utl_file... RTM on that.If the file structures are the same, and it's just the filename that's changing, I would have a single external table definition, and use the alter table ... location ... statement (through execute immediate) to change the filename(s) as appropriate before querying the data. Of course that's not scalable if there are multiple users intenting to use this, but generally when we talk about importing multiple files, it's a one-user/one-off/once-a-day type of scenario, so multi-user isn't a consideration. -
Insert data into fact table from source database tables
here i try to insert data into fact table from source database tables here is the query
ALTER procedure [dbo].[facttable]

select Products.[Product ID],[Production ID],Materials.[Material ID],[Equipment ID],[Work Centre ID],[Recipy ID],Quantity,[cost price]

[PRODUCTION PLANNING 2].dbo.[Material category],
[PRODUCTION PLANNING 2].dbo.[Materials],
[PRODUCTION PLANNING 2].dbo.[Equipment],
[PRODUCTION PLANNING 2].dbo.[Working Centre] ,
[PRODUCTION PLANNING 2].dbo.[Recipies]
where
Products.[Product ID] in (13, 14, 15, 16, 17) and
[Production Detail].[Production ID] in (1, 2, 3) and
[Materials].[Material ID] in (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and
[Equipment].[Equipment ID] in (1, 2, 3, 4) and
[Working Centre].[Work Centre ID] in (1, 2, 3) and
[Recipies].[Recipy ID] in (1, 2, 3) and
[Material category].[Category ID] in (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)
and when i execute query it shows me error
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Dimfact_Dimproduct". The conflict occurred in database "pp dw", table "dbo.Dimproduct", column 'Prod_ID'.

HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?I cant see any join conditions in your query posted. Whats the purpose of the query above. It will just bring you a cartesian product (cross join) of tables involved subjected to filters. Are you sure this is the correct query?
The error you're getting may be because you've not yet populated DimProduct or may be because of logic you used in popultaing DimProduct causing it to miss some records which is what query is referring to in above case.

How to insert a table data into temporary table
Hi
Can anyone help me to insert a table data into temporary table.
Thanks
NavinIf you could provide a (simplified) example of the data you have and the output you're attempting to get, that would probably be quite helpful. I'm not sure that I understand exactly what you're trying to do here...
1) It sounds like you know the structure of the result set you're trying to generate. So it would be possible to create a temporary table once (at the same time that you create all your other tables) and write procedural PL/SQL code that would step through the data, write data to the temp table, select the data out of the temp table, and return a REF CURSOR. That would tend not to be the way that an Oracle developer would do things (there are exceptions, of course), but it would work.
2) I don't see any inherent problems in using sub-selects and inline views to do whatever aggregation you're trying to do on the secondary tables, which would allow you to get the output in a single query. For example, given an ORDERS table and an ORDER_DETAILS table,
SELECT o.customer_id, o.invoice_number, SUM( od.line_item_cost ) total_cost
FROM orders o,
order_details od
WHERE o.order_id = od.order_id
GROUP BY o.customer_id, o.invoice_number3) If you do need to use procedural logic, I would tend to look into the use of pipelined table functions or to read the data into an in-memory collection and to manipulate and return that collection.

How to insert data into a table from an xml document
using the XmlSql Utility, how do I insert data into a table from an xml document, using the sqlplus prompt.
if i use the xmlgen.insertXML(....)
requires a CLOB file, which i dont have, only the xml doc.
Cant i insert directly from the doc to the table?
the xmlgen examples I have seen first convert a table to a CLOB xmlString and then insert it into another table.
Isnt there any other way?Your question is little perplexing.
If you're using XML SQL Utility from
the commandline, just use putXML.
