Inserting Hyperlinks in Task Description

Howzit, WF'ers
I have a standard Send Mail task in my workflow. I have included a URL in the text that is sent to the recipient that points them to a site on the intranet. However, in the quest to make my notifications sexier, is it possible to somehow include some text with a hyperlink instead?

I have played around with this and I am happy adding a URL to the text. But, what I'd ideally like to have is some alternate text with a hyperlink, rather than displaying the URL.
So I'd prefer to display <a href="http://www.myurl.com/wombats-are-cool">Click Me!</a>
to
http://www.myurl.com/wombats-are-cool.
Is that possible?

Hyperlink on task description

Hello,
I need to display hyperlink on Task description and the total length is almost 170 char.
I have split it into three variables, URL1 URL2 and URL3.
All gets printed correctly, but after 132 char and extra space comes automatically, and it breaks the hyperlink.
I heard of ALIAS, but i tried using it, that also does not reduce the length less than 132 char. May be i am doing something wrong. d we have any documentation for this.
If ALIAS does not work, then do we have any other workaround for this.
Can we somehow send the link as attachment or any other method.
Please let me know.

Two points:
Firstly, are we talking about the same thing when we mean alias? An alias is defined on the internet service to make the URL shorter; i.e. something like:
http://example.com/sap/bsp/something/blah/stuff/myappname?param1=abc&param2=def
becomes
http://example.com/alias?param1=abc&param2=def
Note that you could leave off the sap client and if language is not relevant it can also be left off.
Secondly, it looks like you're passing a task launcher. Have you considered using Extended Notifications? You may have a valid reason, but I can't think of a scenario where I would want to use a sendmail task to send a work item launch URL rather than Extended Notifications which are more flexible and produce a much nicer looking email.

Search not working on Task Description

Hi,
I am facing a strange scenario with search not working on Task Description for a particular task item. This task item has around 18 versions of itself within it.
I tried replicating the same scenario in our Test environment with following changes in the task item description:
1. Copied the task list over to Test environment.
2. Deleted all the versions of this task and put a single line description as.
3. Initiated full crawl and search results with task description were
coming up fine.
4. Made few more versions : 5 Versions and again initiated full craw. Search results are fine.
5. Made few more versions this time and again a FULL crawl, but now NO results with this task description.
So, my question here is that is there any limit by MS for multiline text limit or version limit which prevents the task description from coming up in search results.
This task description as multiple line text with links to other lists/libraries and user names who created the versions in this task item. We are not using FAST search.

I found the answer elsewhere on the forum:
Somehow the main drive was added to the privacy list in Spotlight. Search is working fine now that I've removed it.

I have, with My User, to insert a New Task inside Customizing Request.
How to do that?
Can I, with my user, insert a New Task in a Request that has another owner?

Dear Barbara,
If you have sufficient rights, change the owner to your name and create a new task to this request (click right on the request --> Add User). Afterwards, set the owner back to the previos value.
See also authority object S_CTS_ADMI.

You did not find your BO means in the workflow container you has not mentioned ur BO. What is the Element name for your Object that will come here.
In your workflow template container should have Expression of ur Object(BUS2081). So, Create the Element for Expression in Wf Container.
Example in User Decision:
Title: Make Sure your Decision of Sales Order
Agents:
Expression: &SALESORDER& ( F4)
Decision Option:
Approved:: Send Notification Approved
Rejected:: Send to Initiator with Reason Rejected

Insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents

Since Mavericks you can´t insert hyperlinks in pdf-documents. I miss this option in the preview. Are there any other possibilities?
(I have MS Office for apple, therefore the links get lost, if I convert it to pdf).

No one here can guess what "Apple wants." This is just an end user forum. There are open source alternatives to Pages and Office you may want to research: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6941

How to round value of container element in task description

I am trying to round the value of the container element from 3 decimals to 2 decimals for display purposes.
The command symbol in the task description is &_WI_Object_Id.OverallTotalCost&. I have looked at SAP Help and I have tried the suggestion of &_WI_Object_Id.OverallTotalCost(.2)& and &_WI_Object_Id.OverallTotalCost(Z.2)& with no success.
I have also searched the sap-wug mailing list and SAP ITToolBox and found no references rounding a container element in a task description. I have seen code assigning a value to a packed decimal variable to round. But I have not been able to get this to work as a command in a description for a task.

I created a new element in the container as suggested by Glauco and added the element binding in the workflow / task binding. Biggest hassle was finding a business object that had a type of 2 decimal places to use for the new container element.
The reason why the SAPScript symbol for reducing the number of decimals does not work in Task texts is because the container elment symbols are resolved first as text. Therefore only the SAPScript commands that apply to text will work like length.

Double-spacing in my Task Description?!?

I have created a perfectly normal decision task and added some text in the task description. The only thing that I have done differently this time is use the &ULINE(xx)& command.
When this task is executed, all the text comes out double-spaced (i.e. with a blank line between each line of text). Any idea why it's doing this?

Thanks for the suggestions. Once again I have learnt the advantages of using the normal text editor as opposed to the pretty graphical one.
As it turns out, I had cut and pasted some text from a different task. In it's wisdom, SAP made each line a new paragraph. Going into the normal editor, it was immediately obvious that each line had a * next to it instead of being continuous text or a line feed (/). D'oh!
Abhishek, you can use normal SAPScript commands in your task description.

Are you lloking to print Standard texts in Workitem...
You can do that... you will have to first create a method to read SO standard text using READ_TEXT and pass it on to a multiline container which you will have to mention in the Task description.

Change Style in task description

Hi All,
     I am using a decision step in my workflow. I want to change the default font style associated with the task. The default is Form: System and the default paragraph is '*'.
     I want to use custom style for formatting the task description. The Menu option Change style in Change editor is not allowing me to select the zstyle i have created.
    I will appreciate if anyone can provide me a solution.

I also checked, and we are not having any options to choose the particular style.
Hope its a limitation we have in workflow.
Because when i checked the same option SO10, we have an option choose.
So workaround will be like this:
Create your desired text in SO10 with your own style and include that standard text in your task description.

Hello,
I think you have rightly pointed out the reason of the error. You must have maintained the logical system 'QCCCLNT703' using transaction CRMS_IC_CROSS_SYS. However you also need to maintain the same entry in transaction SM59 with name RFC destination name as 'QCCCLNT703'.

Trying to insert hyperlinks

In FrameMaker 10, I need to insert hyperlinks that will translate to links within PDF output and also to links within RoboHelp. Is that possible? If so, how do you insert those? Typically it's either a link from one chapter file to another or from one place to another within the same file. Thanks!

Hi Suzy. In your PDF, you need to view the Destinations (Right-Click on the Bookmarks icon and select Destinations). Find the destination you want to link to (this may take some time if it's a big book/document) and make a note of the F number.
In RoboHelp, create a Baggage File folder and copy your pdf in it, making note of the Baggage Folder name and pdf name
In FrameMaker, enter the Go to URL hypertext maker like this - message URL ../../<RH Baggage Folder Name>/<DocumentName>.pdf#F8" target="_blank"
This should open your PDF at the appropriate place in another browser window.

Dynamic task description in sap inbox displaying carriage returns as an * ?

Hi All,
I have a method in my business object whereby I dynamically create the description of the task for the sap inbox, ie. the description the user sees for the task in their sap inbox .
At first I built this description into an internal table of type tline.   I would have thought that each row of the table would begin on a new line but this did not happen. The rows ran into each other but were seperated by a semi colon.
Then I included a carriage return (cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf) at the end of each row. This had the same output but instead of the semi colon, it output an asteriks.
Then I concatenated all the output into a string and passed this to a FM which splits the string at the carriage return and outputs the table. While this behaved as I wanted in a test program (i.e. new line for each row) , once I put the code in the business object, all the rows ran into each other again..
So is anyone aware of a way in which you can dynamcially build the task description and maintain the formatting you require?
I'd be very grateful if anyone could shed any light as I've been trying to get this going for a day and a half now and I'm about ready to give up!!

I had same requirement of displaying mutiple lines of workitem description. I used the following method for achieving my functionality.
Suppose multilineline text to displayed in the workitem description is:-
Line 1-> This is the the test text method to display description in the user defined format
Line 2-> which i want to show on my workitem to person approving the workitem.
Line 3-> Hello ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how are u .............................................test test hello test.
1> I stored the data in an internal table which has one field of type c length 200.
2> I appened the data line by line into the table so that data is not overlapped and my format is maintained.
i.e Data : t_text   type table of ty_text,
               w_text type ty_text.
w_text-line = Line1.
appen w_text to t_text.
clear w_text.
w_text-line = Line2.
appen w_text to t_text.
clear w_text.
w_text-line = Line3.
appen w_text to t_text.
clear w_text.
3> The internal table T_TEXT will have three lines of data.
4> Now pass this table as it is on the workitem Description.It will display text as per ur format on the workitem description dynamically

Diagnosis
Variable is used in description text Task description, but does not exist in the container.
System Response
The task could cause workflow errors.
Procedure
Correct description text Task description or add the variable to the container.
Can anybody please guide step by step process to correct this error.

I face a similar issue,Task description contains an element which is available in container, but during Check, it throws below error.
Variable &ZINFO.REASON& exists in description text Task description, but not in the container
but variable "&ZINFO.REASON&" is not accessed in Task description.
suggest any ways to check the binding or adjust binding between workflow/task.
Please provide a solution to fix this error or advice if this error can be ignored?
