  • SUN One & J2EE Installation Problems

Every time I run the setup program for Sun One and J2EE I get the following error message before setup even get's going (ie when setup.exe hides the command prompt it returns with the following error message:)
"Error writing native components to disk. Aborting wizard"
    I'm running WinXP Pro ..
I've asked around for a solution to this problem. At the moment my last resort solution is to do a format of my machine and try again =) because all my mates have had no bother so far.
If anyone could give me a hint as to what's wrong I'd be utterly grateful.
    Regards,

As wierd as it sounds, one of the things that will trigger this behaviour is if you have a file called Documents on the drive where your %USERPROFILE% directory is. For instance, if %USERPROFILE% is c:\documents and settings\username, the existance of c:\Documents will break native toolkit bootstrap process.
Workaround is to temporarily rename the file and run the installation...

  • J2ee installation problem on windows ME

I have downloaded the j2sdkee1.3 and have set all of the variables but when I type in j2ee -verbose or j2ee.bat -verbose ( as I have read about in peoples past problems ). I get the lines
    out of environment space *2
    syntax error * 3
exception in thread 'main' java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: / appletviewer
do I need to be in a specific directory to do this command?
I have tried many things and read a lot of the examples that are posted here but I have found nothing to help so far, please help,
    Anthony.

Thanx. I have done that and when I type the j2ee.bat -verbose now I get a screen that comes up and offers me a load of options, does this mean that the program has worked. Deploytool does the same and says that you can put -ui to get a userInterface but nothing happens when I type the command.
P.S. msdos prompt can sometimes print so much information that it goes of the screen. How can I look at this information ( cause there is no scrollbar like Im use to ). Also is there a copy like ctrl 'c' so that I can print out the information into here for example?

  • J2EE Installation problems

I am having trouble getting my system to complie Servlets and to recognize JSP pages. I installed the J2EE, following the instruction set forth on Sun's site, but when I attempt to compile a servlet, it says that the javax.servlet.*; is not found. I am not sure, but I think tis has something to do with the classpath variables......btu I keep setting them and nothing changes. I am looking for detailed instructions on how to set up J2EE to work on my Windows 2000 box and eventually work with IIS and JRun. I knwo this is alot to ask, but can anybody throw me a bone?

do you have j2ee.jar with its complete path in the
classpath ? Can you post the value of your classpath
    variable here ?
Also whenever you set and apply environment variables,
you need to open a NEW command prompt for the new
values.Currently this is what my classpath looks like, I am not sure what else I need to add to it(since this is a work computer, I didn't include the whole claspath, just the part that applies to the j2ee)
    %CLASSPATH%;e:\Scripts\Java;
What is this jar file that you are talking about? I am not sure what I need to add.

  • J2EE Installations problem

    Hi All
I have Win 2000 and have installed j2ee1.2 and j2sdk1.4 on my system. I have all the variables set correctly. I get this error when I run j2ee.
"Fatal Error: This J2EE SDK release runs only on Java 2 <JDK1.2 or later>"
This is what I got when I type java -version
    java version "1.4.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0_01-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0_01-b03, mixed mode)
    Thanks for your help
    Shiva

I had this one before. I think that J2ee1.2 doesnt recognise jdk1.4 + versions. Best to either install j2ee 1.3 or an earlier version of the jdk like version jdk1.3.

  • J2EE Query-problem opening EAR file

I have been trying to set up a CASE study from the CD supplied with the SAMS book "Teach Yourself J2EE in 21 Days "
The case study requires a small database for storing information. A Java program to create the database has been provided on the CD. The program uses the Cloudscape database provided with the J2EE RI and according to the book "can be easily adapted to work with any JDBC compatible database."
    I am using Windows 2000, J2SDK 1.4.0 and J2SDKEE1.3.1-Java Plug-in and Java Plug-in 1.4.0
I have set my PATH statement to: %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SystemRoot%\system32\nls\English;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\bin;c:\Ant\jakarta-ant-1.4.1\bin,%PATH%;%ANT_HOME%\bin;c\orawin95\bin;%J2EE_HOME%\bin;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\j2ee.jar;%J2EE_HOME%\lib\locale
In System Variables field of Environmental Variables in Cotrol Panel I have:
    J2EE_HOME variable maps to c:\j2sdkee1.3.1
    JAVA_HOME maps to c:\j2sdk1.4.0
    The instructions are as follows:
To create and install the database, you will need to do the following:
1.Copy the following files from the CD to the Cloudscape sub-directory of the J2EE installation directory : CreateAgency.java, CreateAgency.class, and CreateAgency.bat - I have done this
2.From the Cloudscape sub-directory run the following script program as follows:
CreateAgency - I have run this batch file
    * At which point a new sub-directory called Agency was successfully created under the currect Cloudscape directory-so far so good!
3.Having created the database, you must now add a data source called Agency to J2EE. Run the following command to add the data source:
    j2eeadmin -addJdbcDatasource jdbc/Agency jdbc:cloudscape:rmi:Agency;create=true
I have done this with no errors
I have a problem trying to open the case study EAR file from the CD
I start the cloudscape database and j2ee successfully with commands:
    cloudscape -start
    j2ee -verbose
I then run deploytool.bat under bin directory of J2EE_HOME
GUI Screen opens as per the book but when I try to open the EAR file via File, Open then browse for the EAR file in the Open Object Dialog box I get error message:
"agency.ear is corrupt or cannot be read
    java.io.IOException: Access is denied
    at java.io.WinNTFileSystem.createFileExclusively<Native Method>
    etc
and at end of Deployment Tool diagnositc output I get:
    Error: Opening Application - java.lang.NullPointerException
    for more details see j2eeDeploytoolExceptionLog.out
I am truely stumped - I am sure I have set the J2EE_HOME environment variable to the location on the c: drive where the J2EE reference implementation is located and have added the bin directory below J2EE_HOME to the executable search path (%PATH%) so that I can run tools and batch files from the command line
I can attach the EAR file which I have copied off the CD and forward if necessary
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Regards

I'm following the same book. Did you try starting j2ee first and then Cloudscape?

  • Installation problem for Java EE 5 SDK Update 2

    Hi ,
I have jdk1.5.0_12 (J2SE) installed on my Windows XP. Now i am trying to install J2EE on my machine.I tried to install it twice but it comes to a halt after completing 45% at the same jar file. Following is the link which shows it comes to a halt.
    http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=j2eeinstallhangupav8.png
Also I wanted to know if I uninstall the J2SE and then install only J2EE will that be fine.Because I believe J2EE is a superset of J2SE ?
    Thanks in advance.

For the difference between Java EE and Java SE read here:

  • JWSDP installation problem on Windows 2000

    Hi,
I downloaded the JWSDP1.0ea1 today, but I could not install the downloaded file (which is an executable). The install program tells me there is no JDK1.3.1 on my system, but there sure is (since I use the computer on which I try to install it everyday to write java programs :-) ).
(following commands on the prompt confirms this:
    C:\>echo %java_home%
    C:\java\jdk1.3.1
    C:\>java -version
    java version "1.3.0_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0_02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0_02, mixed mode)
Could it be that this is a bug in the installer for the JWSDP on Win2k? Has someone experienced the same problem?
    regards,
    Wim.

My freshly installed J2SE1.4RC was recognized by the installer, but it put the files into c:\jwsdp-1_0-ea1\ instead of into the
J2SE dir tree as the installer implied that it would.
Is this right? A Bug? and it begs the general question:
WHERE IS THE INSTALLATION README LINK on the JWSDP download page? See email to feedback as follows....
    Your web page
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/downloads/webservicespack.html
doesnt link to install instructions for the Java Web Services Developer Pack.
The link provided is only for the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition
    Version 1.3.1 !!
The installer of the Java WSDP (on Win2K at any rate) leads one
to believe that it will be "integrated" with (i.e. loaded into the dir tree of)
the JDK that it finds on the system (in my case the J2SE1.4 RC).
It, in fact, installed into its own area (c:\jwsdp-1_0-ea1\) PLUS it already
included the tutorial that we are led to believe needs a separate download
according to the instructions on the download page
    [ again as above: http://java.sun.com/webservices/downloads/webservicespack.html ]
So, WHERE are the instructions that say what (if anything) is needed
to finish installation such that, say, Tomcat can be fired up (for example).
P.S. Before you point me to the page
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/documentation/windows_guide.html
note that I am looking for how to finish installation/integration
with a J2SE installation (*as the download page says is already
tested) and NOT a J2EE installation.
So, again where is the SE instructions page (not an EE page)?
    * - "This release of the Java Web Services Developer Pack has
been tested with various configurations with the JavaTM 2 SDK,
    Standard Edition version 1.3.1_01, 1.3.1_02, and 1.4..."

  • XI Installation Problem

    hi guys,
I posted this question a week ago, I am resposting this again to ask some help.
I am Installing XI on AIX 5.3 and Oracle 10g. Currently I am on phase 38 which is "Install Software units". A day passed by and still it hasn't moved to the next step. I check the sapinst log and found no error or any warnings. The last message on the log was "Info: ****Begin of SAP J2EE Engine Deployment (J2EE Application)******"
Pls help, this is my 3rd day on this problem and i havn't move to the next step yet.
    Regards,
    JDR

    Hi Jay,
Last time I got this on an a J2EE installation, I stopped the installation, manually started the J2EE engine, and restarted the installation.  That usually does the trick.  Otherwise you could wait forever....

  • J2EE Server Problem

I have a WAS 6.40 Server(ABAP instance only), recently I had installed the J2EE stack 12, the installation has finished with errors, now I can't enter to the Content Administrator, I reinstalled the stack but I got the same problem, there is any way to uninstall completly the J2EE Server in order to start a clean installation?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ruben,
Other than using the uninstall program as mentioned, there are some other steps to delete an Add-on J2EE installation. You can find it detailed in the SAP Netweaver WebAS Java Installation Guide from Service marketplace.
    https://service.sap.com/instguides
    SAP Netweaver -> Release 04 -> Installation
Please follow that PDF to do clean uninstall of your J2EE server.
    Hope that helps.

  • Installation problem on SUSE 12.1

    Hi
I'm a Linux beginner and I am trying to install LV on SUSE 12.1
I've also posted my problems on Lava:
    http://lavag.org/topic/15240-labview-installation-problem-on-suse-121/
The installation started and it looks quite all right, but when I try to start LabVIEW, the application just sits in the taskbar for about 20 seconds and then just disappears.
     Any ideas?
Is there a way to debug to see what's going on?
    Cheers,

    Hi Mike,
Unfortunately, there are no versions of LabVIEW supported on SUSE 12.1 at present. Here's a link to LabVIEW version compatibility with different Linux distributions. I saw from your other forum that you're attempting to install LabVIEW 2009, which is certified for SUSE 11.0 at the latest.
