JSF 1.2 WLS 10

Apologies if this post is in the wrong location.. I just download WLS 10, which is supposed to be J2EE 5 compliant; however, it ships with jsf-ri 1.1. The J2EE 5 spec includes JSF 1.2- unless I missed something. Attempts to deploy JSF 1.2 RI from Sun result in the following error:
          java.lang.IllegalStateException: strict servlet API: cannot call getWriter() after getOutputStream() at weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletResponseImpl.getWriter(ServletRespon
          seImpl.java:297)
          Strangely enough, attempting to deploy an App based on MyFaces 1.1.5 in WLS 10 also results in the above error. The same App runs fine on WLS 9.2.
          In summary I have two issues with WLS 10:
          1) Unable to upgrade from WLS 9.2 to 10 with MyFaces
          2) Unable to upgrade from JSF 1.1 to 1.2
          My objective is JSF 1.2. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi all,
          I am getting the same kind of error deploying an helloworld project based on JSF framework of IBM on a Weblogic 9.2.
          On WebSphere 6.1 and Tomcat 5.5 everything works.
          But on WebLogic, 9.2 I have the following exception.
          Help us, please.

    Just Released: Developing JSF Portlets with WebLogic Portal Whitepaper
    A supplemental developer's guide has been published to help guide WLP 10.x customers that wish to use JSF as the web framework for building portlets on WebLogic Portal. This is a sizable document (150 pages) that covers a large number of topics. It also coaches developers on best practices and common pitfalls.
    Important: It also clarifies the supported configuration of JSF within Portal Web Projects. Workshop for WebLogic by default configures a web project in a configuration that is not supported by WebLogic Portal. The guide explains how to address this:
    * Change from the unsupported MyFaces JSF implementation to the supported Sun Reference Implementation (RI)
    * Change from the unsupported "client" STATE_SAVING_METHOD to the supported "server"
    The guide can be downloaded here:

    Hi Peter!
    First, I wish to thank you for the great work.
    We followed your whitepaper and managed to deploy a JSF portlet on WLS.
    But we are not able to register it (consume it) as remote portlet in Oracle Portal 10.1.4. The error log is as follows:
    An error occurred while trying to refresh the provider. (WWC-43190)

  • Problem with using newer jsf implementation

    Is it possible to use jsf-libraries from wls 10.3.1 on 10.3.0?
    Or how to use newer version of jsf implementation than JSF RI 1.2_03 on wls 10.3?
    I have also use RichFaces 3.3.1 and when I have tried to use Mojarra 1.2_12 richfaces components haven't worked correctly.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

    I looked there and
    "If your try to ship your webapplication with a separate JSF implementation, you are free to do this. Keep in mind, that the dependency injection mechanisms does not work with managed beans, if you do not use any of the WLS provided JSF containers.
    Declaring something like this:
    @EJB
    private MySession session;
    will lead to a java.lang.NullPointerException because of the missing depencency injection mechanisms. Would love to know any details about this. Maybe I'll find out more in the future.."
    The problem is that I use annotations like @EJB, so ...
    I'm still waiting for solution how to implement WeblogicInjectionProvider.

  • WebLogic 8.1 SP3 is crashing me! (MyFaces).

    Hi all!
              We want to migrate an existing application from Swing to Web. We have chose JSF to get better UI components. The implementation of JSF is MyFaces 1.2 (or can also maybe 1.1), but we are getting some problems mainly with Expression Language.
              <b>>> Cenario Details:</b>
              - Server WebLogic 8.1 with SP3
              - MyFaces 1.2 (we have based in some apache blank apps)
              <b>>> Cenario Problems:</b>
              - Cannot renderize JSF because the server cannot execute EL as well. My EL jar libs are:
              - jstl.jar (im not sure about the especific version)
              - standard-1.1.2.jar
              - javax.servlet.jar (need for some examples. I think is 2.4 version).
              I have made some testes into blank and simple application .war from MyFaces Apache site. If I put blank or simple app direct into WebLogic the server crash, I have put the 3 jars that i listed above.
              My web.xml head is servlet 2.4 version, sometimes I have put 2.3 version. What is recommend for my case?
              This job was working as well. I have create a blank prototype project with the same libs. (include also myfaces-api.jar and myfaces-impl.jar like blank or simple app).
              Sometime the project was working well, the faces-config.xml was redirect the actions and getting undestand what I want to do.
              But at current time Im getting problems and this exception is printting at my console and page:
              "javax.faces.FacesException: javax.servlet.ServletException"
                   at org.apache.myfaces.context.servlet.ServletExternalContextImpl.dispatch(ServletExternalContextImpl.java:425)
                   at org.apache.myfaces.application.jsp.JspViewHandlerImpl.renderView(JspViewHandlerImpl.java:234)
                   at org.apache.myfaces.lifecycle.LifecycleImpl.render(LifecycleImpl.java:352)
                   at javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet.service(FacesServlet.java:107)
              Im not sure what is causing this issues. When I have tried to put Tiles to MyFaces project, the server is crashing.
              <b>>>> My claim:</b>
              What is the best way to work with MyFaces working EL as well and don´t crasing the server system? Someone have configured a true successfuly MyFaces project into WebLogic 8.1 SP3 - SP5?
              Thanks all!

    Servlet 2.4 and JSP 1.2 (which includes JSP EL) are only allowed in WLS 9.x. If possible, I'd suggest upgrading if you want to run JSF.

  • JSF 2 and Primefaces with  WLS 11gR1(10.3.6) problem

    Hi all,
    I would like to create a web application in OEPE, which uses JSF 2 and Primefaces 3.2 and then deploy & develop onto WLS.
    I added the primefaces jar to WEB-INF/lib.
    See my publishing stacktrace below.
    (I tried using the Shared JSF libraries and including jsf-api and impl in WEB-INF/lib, but neither of these options worked.)
    Do you have any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks,

    Hi --
    I just tried using OEPE 11.1.1.8.0 against a WLS 10.3.6.0 install to build and deploy a JSF 2.0 application and it worked successfully.
    The project is here if you want to take a look:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15657493/oepe-test-jsf2.zip
    The only minor gotcha I found was that I needed to reorder the libraries on the project so that the Shared-Library[jsf] was higher than the WebLogic System Library - this then let me use the JSF 2.0 programming API successfully instead of the 1.2 version that is included in the WLS System Library.
    Here's a couple of screen shots of the facet and project as well as the overall development environment:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15657493/oepe-jsf-facet.png
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15657493/oepe-project-libs.png
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15657493/oepe.png
    For that zip file error, one thing perhaps is to Check your CLASSPATH setting to see if it has an entry for that FileAdapter.rar. I don't know why it's causing that problem but if it's in the CLASSPATH try removing it and then starting the server.

  • Not compatible JSF 1.2 on  WLS 10.3

    Hi,
    we are able to successfully migrate from WLS 9.2 to WLS 10.3 and our Web application based on JSF 1.1 is runnning without any problem on wls 10.3.
    we are upgrading the web app to JSF1.2......now, i'm facing all kinds of exception, but Sun claims JSF 1.2 is 100% backward compatible, so should we take care of any configuration? & we are using JSF 1.2 references in WLS server.
    thanks,
    SS

    sorry. meanwhile i was able to fix it. looks like in JSF 1.2 , the value of input hidden feild tags cannot be empty however JSF 1.1 had the ability to ignore it.
    thanks,
    ss

  • Deploy web applications using JSF 1.2  or JSF 2.0 to WLS 10.3.5

    Hello,
    We have ADF web applications developed with JDeveloper 11.1.1 (using JSF 1.2 and JSTL 1.1)
    deployed on WebLogic server 10.3.4.
    Our department plans to :
    1. upgrade to WebLogic server 10.3.5 with the ADF Runtime 11.1.2.0.
    and
    2. develop new ADF web applications using JDeveloper 11.1.2 (using JSF 2.0 and JSTL 1.2)
    My 2 questions are the following:
    1. Can we deploy all JSF 1.2, JSF 2.0, JSTL 1.1, and JSTL1.2 WAR files on the
    WebLogic server 10.3.5 with the ADF Run-time 11.1.2.0.
    2. Can we deploy existing ADF web applications developed with JDeveloper 11.1.1 (using JSF 1.2 ,JSTL 1.1)
    and new ADF web applications using JDeveloper 11.1.2 (using JSF 2.0 and JSTL 1.2) to the WebLogic server 10.3.5 with the ADF Runtime 11.1.2.0
    Any insights will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    1) That should work
    2) old adf app (developed with jdve 11.1.1.x.0) need to be migrated to jdev 11.1.2
    You can also check out my blog entry about the jdev wls versions here http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/jdeveloper-versions-vs-weblogic-server-versions

  • Issue in loading images from Apache webserver in JSF image tags on WLS 10

    I have configured the apache webserver2.0 for passing on the request to weblogic 10.0. I have images in apache webserver. In my application on weblogic i am using JSF f. In JSF for <h:graphics> tag i am not able to load images from apache webserver. issue we found out that it prepend a context url on it.
              pls provide if u have any solution for it.
              Edited by neerajr at 11/16/2007 3:33 PM

    Hi, Neeraj,
              Are you actually telling <h:graphicImage>? As per html_basic.tld, the "uri" attribute is context-relative.
              Using "value" attribute instead of "url" attribute may be helpful. Something like
              <h:graphicImage id="fooImage" value="http://www.foosite.com/image/foo.jpg"/>
              This should work on WLS10.0 if you are using the JSF library bundled in it.
              Thanks,
              -Fred.

    Please help me in configuring JSF 1.2.

    If you are new to JSF, then I'd try and simplify the environment in which you are working as the first step to achieving a successful outcome.
    JSF 1.2 is a certified and well tested component of WLS, so we know it works. I'm not sure of the effect of all those additional modules you are adding in there -- it appears as if you have gotten a Faces implementation instantiated, but there could be some form of version difference/conflict since it can't find a method its looking for.
    Using Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oepe/oepe_11115.html) you can build yourself out a pretty simple JSF application to get started from and deploy it to a WLS server. This would remove all the additional libraries you currently have, provide you with a bundled applicaton to deploy and give you a pretty good environment from which you can learn and experiment with JSF.

  • Need to add as a WSRP Connection in JDev for Weblogic Portal JSF Portlets.

    I am trying to register WLP 10.3.4 JSF Portlets as a WSRP connection in JDev Webcenter 11.1.1.6 Portal Framework application . The below are steps:
    -Created Simple WLP Application with JSF Portlets and deployed them on WLS 10.3.4 domain.
    -The WSDL url available is http://localhost:7003/TEST_WEB_PORTAL/producer?wsdl
    -Now Open JDev and created WCP Framwork app
    -Under Application Resource, right click on Connections -> New Connection -> WSRP Producer.
    -Click Next on step1 -> Enter WSDL URL on Step 2 and then click next on next 3 screens.
    -It tries to register but ended up with below exception:

    I tried creating a simple JSF portlet and I can able to register and it is working Fine, but my teammet got the same issue like you :) . While Analyzing what I found is , the location where we created the portlet in weblogic portal. If you created your portlet directly under WebContent folder then this issue is coming up, so try to create the portlet in a folder inside the WebContent folder, say create a folder with name portlets under webcontent and create the JSF portlet inside that portlets folder.
    Now start the server and register the same in WebCenter, you will not get that exception. I am going to raise a ticket with Oracle about this issue and get the root cause.
    Thanks

  • Unable to get the output when i run any jsf page in adf

    Hi,
    I have created one jsf page to access the business components which i had created earlier after that when i drop the another panel splitter into the second facet of the initial panel splitter we created , I was unable to see in the workspace (.jpx) window.can you suggest me on this.
    after done all the steps if I tried to run that page it starts the WLS servier and createda URL but the url is taking long time approx more that two hour and still not getting the required output only the loading window I can see.
    Please suggest me on this.
    Thanks
    Chetan

    Hi,
    the panelSplitter should at least show in the Structure Window. So check if it is there. The runtime issue can be caused by the proxy settings. Go to Tools / Preferences --> Browser and Proxy and add localhost to the list of exclusion
    If you are new to ADF I recommend running a tutorial like this: http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps1/ria_application/developriaapplication_long.htm

  • Error in running a simple JSF app developed in Jdeveloper over weblogic

    I have a developed a simple JSF application using Jdeveloper 11g.
    To this application i have added a webservice proxy which generates the proxy client which communicates with the peoplesoft webservice.
    when i run the standalone proxy class, it is able to connect to the webservice and get the required data.
    But as i deploy the whole JSF application (where the managed bean calls a method in the client) in Integrated weblogic server, i get an XMLStreamReaderException.
    To debug this issue i deployed the war file in apache-tomcat6.0.26 with all the reqquired libraries in the Lib folder, it actually worked , my jsf application was able to get the data from the webservice.
    This makes me think that there is some problem in the way Jdeveloper is packaging the application.I have added all the lib & jar through "libraries &classpath" setting on project properties.But i am sure there is some problem in this process.
    I just need some help in understanding how to package an application,how to make sure all lib & jar are included in the war file??
    Any help is appreciated.
    The error i get in the weblogic is

    HI
    First of all, how do you concluded that you're dealing with packaging problem?? It seems problem is in response from web service. The toolkit you have is not able to parse the soap response. Tomcat solves problem probably because of the different jars he has for web service client.
    In either way, i have personally experienced problems with JD packaging (11g). The WAR created by JD was working well in embedded WLS shipped with JD, but when deployed to production WLS 10.3.1, i got a "IO exception; premature end of file". The only solution was to create a WAR by ant.
    Here is ANT sample script for building java classes, packaging into war, deploying to WLS (for this last one, you need to reference external jar):
    <target name="build">
    <!-- compile -->
    <javac debug="true" debuglevel="${debuglevel}" source="${source_version}" target="${target_version}" destdir="${output.dir}">
    <src path="${src.location}"/>
    </javac>
    </target>
         <target name="war" depends="build">
    <delete file="${target_war_file}"/>
    <war destfile="${target_war_file}" webxml="src/WEB-INF/web.xml" manifest="/src/META-INF/MANIFEST.MF" update="true">
    <classes dir="${output.dir}"/>
    <lib dir="${build_libs.location}">
    <include name="**/*.jar"/>
    </lib>
    <!-- include important jsf files files -->
    <zipfileset dir="${path.to.conf.folder}" prefix="WEB-INF">
    <include name="adfc-config.xml"/>
    <include name="trinidad-config.xml"/>
    <include name="web.xml"/>
    <include name="weblogic.xml"/>
    </zipfileset>
    </war>
    </target>

  • EJB 3.0 Dependency Injection in JSF ?

    Hi,
    I have a question about ejb 3.0 dependency injection in a JSF WebApp:
    I Build successfully a Web Module (version 2.5) an EJB Module (version 3.0) and an EAR Module (Version 5.0). The EAR App can be deployed without errors on a Bea WebLogic Server 10.1. All modules are successfully deployed.
    Inside the Web Module there is a Servlet which uses dependency injection to access the session EJB form the EJB Module. This works perfect.
    Next I try to use the same EJB with dependency injection from the JSF Page via a backing bean. But when I try to access my JSP Page I got a Nullpointer Exception.
    It seems that the Dependency Injection in the JSP App did not work?
    Can anybody give me a hint what could be wrong?
    Thanks
    Ralph

    There is currently no possiblity in Weblogic 10 server web layer to use Dependency Injection on any other component than the ones defined in web.xml s.a.:
    - servlets
    - listeners
    - filters
    See here:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs100/webapp/annotateservlet.html
    A simple POJO class part of the web application (such as a Backing Bean in JSF or an Action in Struts for example) is not benefiting from DI.
    Doesn't this make Weblogic 10 a NON JEE 5 compliant server?
    Why was this restriction imposed?
    And how is one supposed to use DI with a simple POJO class? Why this huge inconvenience?

    Hi,
    Can you try to deploy app through WLST without using Admin console or you can use Deploy utility.
    % java weblogic.Deployer [options] [actions] [file(s)]
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs81/deployment/tools.html
    using WLST we can deploy through following way.
    Set WebLogic environment variables by running the setDomainEnv script.
    Connect to WLST offline mode using below command
    java weblogic.WLST
    Connect to the domain using below connect command (to go online)
    connect('weblogic','weblogic','t3://localhost:7001')
    Syntax" deploy ('<application name>','<source location>', targets='<target server or cluster>', stageMode='<stage, no stage or external stage>', versionIdentifier='<application version>'
    deploy('survey_web','D:/survey_web.war', targets='AdminServer', stageMode='nostage', versionIdentifier='10-2')
    After deploying the application you can use application name with version number "survey_web (10-2)" in active state in console.
    To deploy the same application with some updates, deploy the application as below in WLST.
    Syntax: deploy('<application name>','<source location>', archiveVersion='<current version of application>', appVersion='<new version of application>')
    deploy('survey_web','D:/survey_web.war', archiveVersion='10-2', appVersion='10-3')
    This will help you to deploy the App for now but this issue need to check with Support team I request to raise a Ticket with weblogic support.
    Regards,
    Kal
