Hi, I'm starting out in a DBA position.
My task at the moment is to move users and schemas from one instance to another.
We're using 9.2.0.7.
I have concluded that the following steps are necessary to move users and schemas from one instance to another :
1. Create the needed tablespaces.
2. Create the users that exist in the source instance
3. Use exp to do a full export
4. Use imp to re-create the schemas from the output file created by exp in step 3
Am I missing anything ?

3. Use exp to do a full exportInstead of doing a FULL export just export the users you want to move and imp that in other database using FROMUSER & TOUSER parameter.

Hi,
You have 2 options: use Discoverer Administrator to export/import the workbook; or use Discoverer Desktop to save the workbook to the local drive.
You cannot save a workbook to the local drive using Discoverer Plus.

I was running Maverick 10.9.1 on my early 08 Mac Pro. I was having significant problems with the system locking up and having to shut it down manually. After discussing the problem with an Apple Support Rep, I executed a clean installed of Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a new HDD. I need to move my itunes library from the old Maverick HD to the new Snow Leopard HD. My Time Machine is corrupted for the old drive. How can I move my music and playlists from itunes on the old drive Maverick to the new Snow Leopard drive? I will also need to move my address book contacts. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks. This solved the iTunes problem. Any suggestion as to how I cam move or copy my address book to the new HD? I can't find the location of the address book files on the old HD.

Go to Administrator->Manage Presentation Catalg->Click on Group folder under which the dashboard and reports are present
1)Create one folder and copy the reports which are present in the dashboard pages you want(reports will be under some specific folder,open and copy one after the other to the newly created folder).Do this if you want other set of same reports for new dashboard that you are creating
2)Click on _portal and create a new folder(new dashboard)
3)Click on dashboad that is to be copied
4)copy the pages one after the other into new dashboard folder
If you are not keeping new set of reports then no need to point reports in pages,if reports are placed under new folder then go to each page and pull those reports from newly created folder.

Our development and the quality share the same SLD so i didnt have to do anything. How do i export the software component and the Product form dev SLd to Prod SLD Or what steps do we need to follow to move the Software component from SLD -> SLD.

You should ensure that your CIM Model and CR Content on your SLD are updated as
per SAP note [669669 |http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/669669]on both SLDs.

Move Business Area and EUL from one schema to another

Hi,
I need to take a EUL from the schema where it is now and bring it to another schema. I use Oracle Discoverer 3.1 Admin Edition to Export Business Area then import it in the new schema. Everything works fine except the fact that workbooks (.dis file) created in the original schema returns no data (as it does in the original schema).
Anybody can help ?

Hi,
There could be a number of reasons for this, but the first thing to check is whether Discoverer is generating the same SQL when the report is run in the two EULs.
If the SQL is the same Discoverer could still return different data if for example there were user specific conditions in the query or language specific conditions in the query and the default language was different in the EULs.
Are you using an Apps or database mode EUL? What is in the workbook query that you are running?

Utility to Move Custom Package from one instance to another

Hi,
I wanted to know that in EBS if we have any Forms Personalization or if we have added any custom Concurrent Program then using "FNDLOAD" utility we can easily transfer it from one instance to another.
Similar to that is there any utility which we can use to deploy PL/SQL Package? I don't want to install Package using SQL* utility then is there any other way to do that? Please guide..

I do not want to leave the 'no' as the last statement. In my role as configuration manager for EBS projects, I have seen a lot of alternatives to prepare setup files (FNDLOAD) and database object files (Packages, Tables, Views etc.) in a professional way and make the same ready to deploy.
You can choose from utilities such as self created scripts, but also other products from the market are quite good. The decision to choose a specific solution depends on the client requirements and expectations.
Currently I am working with a professional solution to retrieve and deploy custom objects from one environment to the other, whereas the definiton is simple and the deployment can be done in seconds without any specific knowledge. This is a solution we have here created for a client with a target of around 2000 custom object files, grouped into 80 custom solutions.
The more custom objects you have in total, the more changes you need to track, the more professional you should define your process.
The evolution could be something like:
manual deployment > script based > professional script solutions > tool based > standard product based Any follow up question is welcome!

Why doesn't the original document I'm dragging and dropping from one folder to another move?
What's happening is the computer is creating a duplicte of the document and placing it in the new location with a new creation date. The original document I wanted to drag and drop into a new location remains where it started as the "original" document and the new copy has this little arrow protruding up from the lower left of its icon.
At first I thought it was an alias, but it's a copy of the document I thought I was dragging and dropping.
What gives here?

That arrow indicates it is a linik to the original, though. This happens if you wish to drag files, for which you do not have permissions to do this operation, e.g. from Library or System folder. I am pretty sure you do not accomplish this operation from/to folders like Desktop or Documents; if so, there is a problem with your system.

Hi
General procedure is to zip all the java & xml page files and copy to dev instance. Then you can write a shell script to extract the zipped files and place it in appropriate locations.
If there are any AOL objects defined by you, then you need to include that in shell script

Hi,
If you would like to move your source models, target models and project contents from Work repository 1 to another work repository.
I.e. Dev. server to Prod Server.
1. Firstly, replicate the master repository connections i.e. with same naming conventions manually
2. Go to Dev. Server work repository -> File Tab -> Click on Export work repository (save it in a folder)
3. After exporting, you can view the xml files in the folders.
4. Now, Open the Prod. server and make sure you already replicated mas. rep. details.
5. Now, right click on model and import source model in synonym mode insert_update (select source model from the folder where your xml file located)
6. Similarily, import again target then Project.
Now, check. It should work.

No. Time Machine won't get your boot camp partition back. There are excellent utilities that move entire hard drive contents among hard drives such as SuperDuper! and CCC, but as far as I know they don't work with boot camp partition. My suggestion: reinstall Mac OSX on your new Mac (you don't want to hold Option key to start it everytime anyway), partition it with boot camp exactly (or similarly) as you did to your previous Mac (install the same operating system, which should be one of the Microsoft Windows I assume). Use Migration Assistant as kaz-k suggested to move all the stuff on the Mac partition of your previous Mac. Reboot both your Macs from the boot camp partition - I assume they are all on Windows platform. Now you have two computers on Windows platform. Use Norton Ghost or similar tools to migrate all the stuff from your old machine to your new machine. Hope this helps. Backup all your data before such operation. Good luck.

Moving Events and Projects from one location to another on the same hard drive.

Hello.
I've searched in the FCP X User Manual, on this forum and in Google, but have found no explanation of how to do this, so I'm posting this here in hopes that someone in our community will be able to help.
I've previously stored my FCP X Events and Projects folders on an external 3TB hard drive, because there is more room on it than on the internal 1TB hard drive, but, since then, I've worked with other media apps, for video, photography and audio, the files for which are also stored on the external hard drive, and this has created a bit of clutter with no folder structure to keep it tidy.
I like an organised file structure on my system, to keep it uncluttered, easy to navigate and efficient to use, so I put all the files for my photography, video and audio apps into their own folders, which are, in turn, stored in their appropriate folders for Audio, Photography and Video, and those three folders are stored in a folder called Media, and then I directed each app to its own files.
The only app with which this has been a problem is FCP X. While there is a way of relocating projects and events from within FCP X, it allows the user to move them from one hard drive to another, and not, as I want, from one place to another on the same hard drive.
I'm not sure if it matters, but perhaps it's relevant to mention before the next paragraph that the files that had previously been imported as events are, to save hard-drive space, stored in the events folder as shortcuts to the original files, which are stored elsewhere on the drive, rather than as duplicates of those files.
In Finder, I copied the Events and Projects folders to their intended new locations and tried in the app to link the events and projects to their new Finder location. It seemed to have worked, until I moved the original folders to the Trash. On re-opening FCP X, it was clear that the linking hadn't worked. I returned the original folders from the Trash to their original location, but that didn't entirely reverse the problem. I noticed also that, in the original and duplicated Events folders, the shortcuts had lost their links to the original files stored elswehere on the drive.
Fortunately I had run a backup before starting, so I restored the original folders and the app from the backup, and all was back to normal.
I'd be grateful if anyone could advise me on whether or not it's possible to move FCP X events and projects from one place to another on the same hard drive with the app's compliance.
