No free space in directory entries for NTAB buffer

Gurus ,
In ST02 -> for table definitions buffer there was a red alert with the SWAP count as 953275 .
hence i Double clicked on the swaps count to see the details , which is shown below ,
efficiency :
hit ratio  70
size :
allocated : 6799
available  : 5703
used        :5703
free         : 0
Directory entries :
available : 20000
used      : 20000
free        : 0
swaps :
objects swapped : 953833
frames swapped  : 0
what will happen if the 'directory entry '  and 'size' is zero we.
what process will get affected because of this ?
what i need to do next ..
guide me gurus

Hi Susin,
To Answer your question, directory free entries are '0' --> which means table definition buffer is full. That is the reason we can see "objects swapped : 953833"
Try to increase the size of table definition buffer which is low '6799' now.
I feel you can even  double the value and observe the performance.
For General information regarding Hit ratio and Swapping:
The quality of a buffer and how often it is accessed is measured by the
'%Hit Ratio'. This value will indicate if the information stored in the
buffers, such as table entries, programs and screens, is being hit
directly from the buffer itself or, on the other hand, if the system
needs to bring that data from the database since it was not found in the
buffer.
To find out the buffers with poor quality, first check the system
startup time. When the system is started, all buffers (except the
program buffer which has a pre-load) are initially empty. Therefore,
all objects that are accessed for the first time have to be read from
the database and then loaded into the buffers.
If objects are not yet in the buffer, the hit ratio for the buffer will
be low. The hit ratio increases from the time objects are loaded into
the buffers. The rate of the increase depends on the workload in the
system and is different for each buffer. So it is to be noted that how often you restart the system which resuls in the loading of object again and causes hit rate to be low.
Poor buffer quality is not always due to a real problem. For example,
transports into a system can reduce buffer quality. Keep in mind though
that a value lower does not always shows that you have a problem.
Swapping occurs when the buffer is full, and the SAP System has to
load additional objects into the buffer. Objects in the buffer that
were used the least recently are removed. In this context, the term
"swap" means the objects removed from the buffer are lost and cannot
be replaced until a new database access is performed (replacing what
was lost).
There are two possible reasons for swapping
1 There is no space left in the buffer data area
The buffer is too small. You should increase the buffer size.
2 There are no directory entries left.
Hope this helps.
For any other information, feel free to reply me.

  • Server 4: open directory entry for server reports wrong IP address

    I'm running Server 4 on a Mac Mini (late 2012) running OS X 10.10.
The server is configured as a stand-alone machine providing services to users connecting over its fixed IP public address.  The server uses Open Directory to keep record of authorised users of the services provided (mail, calendar, wiki, contacts, some file sharing), and the machine is configured as an OD master.
I've noticed that the entry relating to the server on the Server 4 panel for Open Directory (the only entry showing by the way) lists three IP addresses below the name of the machine.  My concern is that these IP addresses are not related to the IP address being used by the machine, and there does not appear to be any simple way to change them.  The IPs reported are 10.37.129.2, 10.0.1.2, 10.211.55.2.  The server's fixed IP is in the range 45.146.x.x and the local network running below our router that the server connects to has IPs in the range 192.168.1.x.  So It is not clear where these IPs might be coming from.
What do these numbers relate to?  If they are important, should they point to the IP address occupied by the server?  If so, how do I make this change in settings?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help that you can provide.

  • How to get the free space from logical drive for solaris installation?

Hi.. I am using win-xp.In the extended drive I have freed 10gb by deleting one of the logical drives.I wish to know how to proceed for solaris installation in the space available with out disturbing the data in other logical drives. Is there any tool?

  • I'm trying to purchase shogun 2 but it won't let me because I don't have enough disk space, I managed to free 33Gbs but still nothing, how much free space do I need for that?

It doesn't even let me download Empire Total war which is 13gb

First, the App Store will not allow a download that, when expanded, would leave less than the minimum amount of available space on the startup volume that Apple considers necessary, which is about 9 GB. The download is a compressed archive that will usually expand to about twice its size. Both the archive and the expanded files will be present at the same time, so the actual amount of space needed is about three times the size of the archive.
If you're trying to add a large amount of data all at once, and you get an alert of insufficient space, then from the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine
If the padlock icon is closed, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then back ON and close the preference pane. Restart the computer. Test.

  • Erase free space  in Disk  Utilities grayed out for SSD

Is it normal that this function (erase free space) does not work for a SSD? It is grayed out on my iMac for SSD not for the 1 TB HDD.
Now that I installed Lion and Trim is working (on  original Apple SSD) in my iMac I would like to erase free space. I read somewhere that you should do this if you did not have the Trim option before and you do have it now. Or is this BS?

  • Logical disk free space counters missing for server 2008 r2 and 2012 r2

I'm trying to get low disk space alerts for server 2008R2 and 2012 R2.  While the monitors exist for 2008 and 2012 (Not-R2), they are missign for all R2 operating systems.  Any idea how to either obtain these monitors, or create them so I can
get alerts for % disk free alerts?

What is your meaning of " monitors exist for 2008 and 2012 (Not-R2), they are missing for all R2 operating systems."? Does it means that the monitor is missing on all Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 2012 R2 machine or it just a blank circle ?
By default, Windows XXX Logical disk Free Space monitor is enable for all windows XXX. You may check whether an override to disable it. Moreover, Windows Server XXXX Logical Disk Free Space (%) Low and Windows Server 2008 Logical Disk Free Space (MB) Low
is disable by default and you should manually enable it.

  • Set tablespace free space (mb) for a single large tablespace?

It seems that in EM, setting the free space (mb) for locally managed tablespaces affects all of my locally managed tablespaces in the database and not just one.
I clicked on Tablespace, Edit (button), Thresholds and set the Free Space (MB) Warning and Critical. I thought I was setting it for a particular tablespace (because I chose Edit on a single tablespace). But then I got alerts from much smaller tablespaces because those tablespaces had much smaller MB than the thresholds that I just set.
Using EM GC, is there a way to set the free space (mb) to alert for a single large tablespace where defining a critical free space mb is better than setting a free space percent?

ok, go to the database you want to manage.
Then click on Metric and Policy Settings (link at the very bottom).
Scroll down to the 'Tablespace Space Used (%)' metric, and click on the edit button
Now, click on the 'add' button to setup settings for individual tablespaces.

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Strange calculation of free space

    Hi!
I can't understand how size of free space is calculated.
    For example:
in my mailbox i have 3 folders
    Incoming  40.4 Mb
    Sent 13.1 Mb
    Junk 302 Kb
    In total about 55 Mb
but in Statistic writtent, that ocupied 161.7 Mb
Same situation3 with Documents and Application data:
    My Measures  252.5 Mb
    Mail                160.1 Mb
    Pages              22.6 Mb
    Numbers          14.6 Mb
    Keynote           13.4 Mb
All other in sum less than 1 Mb
In total should be less than 500 Mb
ps: I deleted all photos and turned off PhotoStream.
    How to solve this problem?

I have the same issue. I have just 68.5MB of documents in iCloud and it says it's full. I tried to delete photos from photo stream. I have no backups in iCloud and I don't sync my mail to iCloud.

  • Coalesce free space in blocks

    Hi
Assume I insert a row into the block and there are small free spaces inside the block.
Does oracle automatically coalesce the free spaces in the block for my new row ?

Assume I insert a row into the block and there are small free spaces inside the block. If there is small free space inside the block the row will be inserted into new block. The block will allocated from the free list of the tablespace for that table. If the records are freed from the block such as delete than PCTFREE and PCTUSED comes into account. PCTFREE is limitation upto which the block should be free and PCTUSED is the pecentage of space upto which the blocks to be used.
Does oracle automatically coalesce the free spaces in the block for my new row ?Free spaces are not coalesced from blocks its from the extents of the table. If there is free blocks before HWM(High Water Mark) then the block is allocated to new row.
    Thanks.

  • Increase free space in MacBook Air

How do I increase free space on flash drive for Air.  My free space decreasing and "other" increasing size!

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Audition CS5.5 Free Space

    Audition CS5, Windows 7 64bit
CS5 is having a hard time calculating the correct free space on drives set for Media and Disk Cache, also not playing well with drives with partitions.
In the example below using an external drive with no partitions have over 600gbs free space but CS5 is only showing appx 450gbs.
On drives that have one or more partitions CS5 will either show the sum of all partitions, or just come up with some incorrect amount all it's own
    Anyone else seeing this?
If I set the temp drive to the system drive (C) it then displays the correct free space.

Usually means that Audition can't see the sound card. So what sound card are you using and what Windows drivers for it?
