Odd problem w/ color images from printing to a Ricoh c6000

Hello,
I am running Mac OS 10.8.4 on a MacBook Pro (I have the same problems on a MacBook Pro running 10.6 as well).
I have determined how to print to a Ricoh c6000 (that does not have the PS option) using the software from OpenPrinting.org [http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o].
I have recently encountered a problem while printing from MS Word 14.3.5.  When I insert a photo, from a file, (color or black and white- I do a lot of my own vector graphics, Illustrator files exported as .BMP, for teaching science) it will print with black lines going from the left to right until part of the file is reached (apparently).
These files print perfectly from other programs; however, the Word file printed to .pdf will print the same way.
Any advice would be appreciated.
This (as inserted in Word):
Prints from the Ricoh c6000 as this:
Thanks for any help.  I did not have trouble before I upgraded my OS from 10.4 using Ghostscript 8.64 and Foomatic 4.0.1.  Then I got a new MacBook Pro (2013) and I am using OS 10.8 and Ghoscript 8.71 and Foomatic 4.0.6.
Please let me know if you successfully have printed from word to a Ricoh!

I should note that this file prints perfectly to a Black and White Ricoh 4000 using the pxl drivers.  This is why I think something is up with the way the color handling occurs.

                                pc1.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(mstream);
    It says Parameter not Valid... i am reading all the images from database

    I agree with Viorel. You are getting the error because the format of the data is incorrect probably because the data was modify. It may not be the reading of the database the is incorrect, but the application that wrote the data into the database. You need
    to compare the imgg array data with the data before it was written to the database to see if the data matches.  I usually start by comparing the number of bytes which is easier to check then compare the actual to isolate which function is changing the
    byte count.
    An image is binary data.  The standard VS methods for reading and writing data (usually stream classes) default to ASCII encoding which will corrupt binary data.  The solution usually is to use UTF8 encoding instead of the default ascii encoding.
    Ascii encoding with stream often aligns the data and adds extra null bytes to the end of the data which can produce these type errors.

  • Export Problem with Color Image Washing Out

    I did an export of an image from DNG to JPG in LR4. Funny thing is, the JPG suddenly appears with a washed out look. It looks the same in Develop and Print modules also.
    It gets even funnier, because when I use Finder to check the photo, the preview of the image is fine. I also opened the image from Finder in Photoshop CS5 and it is fine there. I also opened the image in PSCS5 from LR4 with "Edit In" and again the image in Photoshop is fine. So this appears to be a view issue in LR4. I did not print out the washed out photo but I suspect it would print out as it appears in LR4.
    I've done some other image exports from DNG to JPG with other images and they do not have this problem but those were black&white converted images. However, I did check doing an export of another color image with the same result as the problem image. Here are screen captures of the DNG and the exported JPG (I was going to upload the exported JPG, but like I said it appears fine in Finder):

    My monitor calibration is just fine. I was saying that because similar
    problems are almost always due to bad monitor profiles. If you calibrate
    regularly using hardware calibration then you're probably fine. Many people
    use canned profiles from monitor manufacturers however and lightroom is
    highly sensitive to those and shows messed up color depending on the
    source. In this case however, since the restart fixed it it was likely a
    bad preview image. I have seen before that LR sometimes is lazy in
    refreshing those and can show you strange results that only get cleared up
    by forcing a preview refresh.
    Last your top screenshot DOES show that you are pushing the red in that
    dress out of the monitor gamut. You can check this in the soft proof in LR
    4 by turning on the monitor gamut warning. If you blow the color out of the
    monitor gamut the preview is no going to be accurate no matter how good
    your calibration. Just a cautionary warning.

  • Problems with color matching when printing...

         Hi, I work for a small family business in the P.O.P. industry.  We currently have myself and one other designer, we both take illustrator files that have come from the graphic design firm that we contract with and get them ready to print on our Vutek QS3200.  However ever since acquiring the printer we have begun to run into problems with the colors when printing.  When the files are exported off of my computer, I use either .tif or .pdf files, they print as they should, the colors seem to match the proof and everything goes smoothly.  However when the other designer exports a file, he tends to do mainly pdfs, the colors tend to be extremely different from where we want them.  Also we will get very strange results, such as yesterday he kept getting a faint yellow 1/2" border around his prints.  After I believe 3+ hours of him trying, I was given the original CD and instructed to try.  After 15-20 minutes of making the changes that we needed to make (adding a new price point) and ripping, mine printed perfectly.
         We both use Macs, both have CS3 Design standard, only differences between the computers are mine is newer and a bit faster, and I'm running OS 10.5.6 and he has 10.4.  He has also at some point loaded various color profiles, whereas my CS package is just whatever the default is when I loaded it.  When we were being trained he grabbed the color profile off of the Colorburst RIP server and loaded onto his computer, plus I believe he has a couple for freelancing purposes on there as well.  My thought is that these profiles are somehow corrupting the files that are going through that computer, but I honestly am lost with it at the moment.  He believes the problem lies within the fact that he does not have the newer OS, I honestly cannot see that as having any effect on this at all.  I was wondering if anyone has run into any similar problems, or if anyone might have any advice on this issue?  I would really like to be able to solve this, as I was hired to do mainly structural design for the P.O.P. and I'm having to put in a lot of overtime to get my work done along with the additional work that I'm having to do.
    Thanks for your time

    I've got a few years experience calibrating large format printers.  First, the Yellow sounds like a file problem.  I used to work with two workstations, one PC ( RIP station ), and one Mac ( file prep station ).  I tend to agree with you in that the OS is probably not the problem.  But, any Colorburst profiles should remain in the RIP, not in the originator application.  My workflow consisted of creating EPS files that were based on established color settings in their given applications ( i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop ) which were interpreted by the RIP which had it's own calibrated profile ( perhaps more than one based on how many different substrates were being used ).  Your partner may be complicating things by incorporating a RIP profile prematurely.  If there are deviations big enough to be noticed, there has to be something in the application color settings that is causing some type of corruption.  This could lead back to the operating system, but I would think it lies somewhere in Bridge or the application color settings.  Start there.  You should seriously consider implementing a calibration system if you do not have one already.  Another slight possibility is the driver's ability to interpret files coming out of Leopard vs. files coming out of Tiger.  It may benefit you both to be in the same operating system dynamics, using the same driver versions and RIP profiles.  At the very least, match everything that is currently working successfully and put them on both machines.  If there is still a noticeable problem in color matching, then something is seriously wrong and you should call in a prepress profiling expert.  Hope this helps.

                   out.println(imgLen.length());Your JSP was supposed to write an image to the output and you wrote some irrelevant strings to the output before? This will corrupt the image. It's like opening the image in a text editor and adding some characters before to it.
                   byte [] rb = new byte[len];Memory hogging. Don't do that.
              out.println(ee);You should be throwing exceptions and at least printing its trace, not sending its toString() to the output.

    How to easy make new two color (C+K) from this rgb images?
    Not at all. They need extensive adjustments long before that - they are scanned wrongly to begin with (double-sided must be scanned against a black background), have fingerprints and whatnot. Once you have them cleaned up, converting to CMYK and cleaning up the colors is anotehr matter. Could be as easy as blanking out the yellow and magenta channels, could entail additiojnal extensive work. in any case, it won#t probably be automatic.

  • Imported RAW images badly corrupted, looks like red paint splashed all over the sky.  Photoshop and Iphoto have no problem with the images from my D800E.  Aperture worked fine for me in June with the same camera.  The Nikon software shows no problem.

    I am having a problem importing my images into Aperture 3 from my Nikon D800E.  The images appear as if red paint was splashed across the sky.  The Nikon software used to transfer from the camera does not show this problem and Photoshop 6 is fine with the images exported as jpg from the Nikon software.  Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop.  I am suspecting that Aperture is not correctly using the camera raw file.  Also, the histograms are radically different between the corrupted images and the Photoshop (good) versions.  Aperture worked just fine for me in June with the same camera.  All drivers and software are current as of this posting.  Anyone else out there seen this before??

    Are you sure you do not have Highlight Hot & Cold Areas turned on? (View->Highlight Hot & Cold Areas)?
    The bug in Digital Camera raw only affected Raw images. In your first post you wrote:
    Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop
    If the JPG's have the same problem then it isn't this bug.

  • Problem importing RAW images from my Nikon D80

    Hi.
    I'm having some problems importing images from my Nikon D80 when I've been taking photos in RAW format. IPhoto recognises the camera as usual, and allows me to name and describe the roll. However, it then seems to freeze and won't import the photos.
    IF I stop the import, then open the camera as a disk, I can physically grab the .NEF files from their folder and drop them into iPhoto where the import will carry on as expected.
    Any ideas?

    See my reply to your other post.

    Cheers rebol.
    I've tried that (along with all other kinds of techniques I never knew existed). I think it might be a problem with the Tomcat setup - it may need to run headless (sounds a bit severe!...).

  • Problem in loading images from ClassLoader

    Hi,
    I m developing a java based application. My application is GUI based. I add an image in a button. This image is placed in jar file. I'm trying to read the image with the help of the class loader, my code goes like this:
    URL aCutImageURL = this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("CutImage.gif");
    ImageIcon aCutImageIcon = new ImageIcon(aCutImageURL);
    JButton aBtn = new JButton(aCutImageIcon);
    But, when i try to get the image through the class loader sometimes
    it works properly but sometimes it returns null, throwing a NullPointerException.
    I've also tried to load the image using:
    URL aCutImageURL = this.getClass().getResource("CutImage.gif");
    but the problem is still there.
    Is there any other way to load the images from the jar??
    Please reply soon, its urgent!!!
    Thanks
    Smita

    Here is a sample code to get an image in a JarFile :
         public static Image getImage(String jarFileName, String fileName) {
              BufferedImage image = null;
              try {
                   JarFile jar = new JarFile(new File(jarFileName), false, JarFile.OPEN_READ);
                   JarEntry entry = jar.getJarEntry(fileName);
                   BufferedInputStream stream = new BufferedInputStream(jar.getInputStream(entry));
                   image = ImageIO.read(stream) ;
              catch (Exception ex) {
                   System.out.println(ex);
              return(image);
         }I hope this helps,
    Denis

    hi all, i want to capture image from my webcam and play it, but it's not workThat's a very descriptive error message, "it's not work". Everyone on the board will certainly be able to help you out with that.
    The first error I see is that you're using the CaptureDeviceManager in an applet. If T.B.M pops in here, he can tell you why that's going to be a CF 99% of the time.
    The other error I see is that your code looks absolutely nothing like any working JMF webcam capture code I've personally ever seen.
    Lastly, the big one, even if you were somehow capturing video magically, you're not even trying to display it...so I'm not entirely sure why you expect to see anything with the code you just posted.

    Your best bet would be starting over and using the example code from the page linked above.

  • Problem with importing images from Nikon S60

    I have been using photoshop elements for several years - currently on Version 8.  I've had no issues importing images from my Nikon D70 - I choose the option to store the images in folders by "shot date" and this has always worked.
    My wife has started using a Nikon S60 to take photos - when trying to import these photos they all end up in a folder with today's date.  I've treid a couple of times to be sure that I didn't make a mistake in setting the import options.  I've checked the "properties" of the images and the date their shows the shot date...
    any ideas?

    Seems unusual behavior. I guess the obvious thing to do is to simply rename the folder although that’s a bit annoying.
    Have you tried selecting one of the other shot date formats from the downloader, perhaps to match the camera date format?

  • Noise Ninja Problem when downloading images from Epson P-3000 hard drive

    I've just downloaded JPEG images from my Epson P-3000 hard drive and when I try to sharpen the images using Noise Ninja plug-in in Aperture I get the following error message: Editing Error. This image cannot be rendered for editing because Aperture does not support the image format. I don't have any issues using Noise Ninja with other images (using latest Aperture version) and this is the first time i've downloaded images from the Epson rather than my memory card. I'm wondering if the issue is related to the Epson. The metadata of the image in Aperture confirms that the image is a JPEG so I'm not sure what's going on.

    i am struggling with this sice many hours and got tired by searching any post that would help me but haven't got yet.
    i tried using this code but it dosent make any execution sit right. i got NPE at ImageIcon.getDescription() line;
    at applet side
          jf.setContentPane(getJContentPane());
                     FileDialog fd=new FileDialog(jf,"hi");

    how can i made a HttpClient PostMethod using java applets? as i have experience making request using HttpURLConnection.POST method. ok first of all i am going make a search of this only after i will tell. please be onlineOnce again, see link [3] in my first reply of your former topic.
    yeah! i got the related topic at http://www.theserverside.com/tt/articles/article.tss?l=HttpClient_FileUpload. please look it, i am reading it right now and expecting to be reliable for me.
    well what i got, when request made by html code(stated above) then all the form fields and file data mixed as binary data and available in HttpServletRequest.getinputstream. and at servlet side we have to use a mutipart parser of DiskFileItemFactory class that automatically parse the file data and return a FileItem object cotaing the actual file data,right?.You can also setup the MultipartFilter in your environment and don't >care about it further. Uploaded files will be available as request attributes in the servlet.is the multipartfilter class file available in jar files(that u suggested to add in yours article) so that i can use it directly? one more thing the import org.apache.commons.httpclient package is not available in these jar files, so where can got it from?
    one mere question..
    i looked somewhere that when we request for a file from webserver using web browser then there is a server that process our request and after retrieving that file from database it sends back as response.
    now i confused that, wheather these webservers are like apache tomcat, IBM's webspher etc those processes these request or there is a unique server that always turned on and process all the request?
    because, suppose in an orgnisation made it's website using its own server then, in fact, all the time it will not turned on its server or yes it will? and a user can make a search for kind of information about this orgnisation at any time.
    hopes, you will have understand my quary, then please let me know the actual process
    thanks
