Oracle 11g client installation on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

I'm having trouble installing the Oracle 11g client installation on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) machine.
Can Oracle 11g client even be installed on the Windows 7 Home Premium 64?

As mention here home OS not supported, so as mention here again if you make some googling you can find link&blog which is mention to create WM machine, install linux(you can use OEL linux which is free and can be download from e-delivery site) than you can make 11g installation on it

I am trying to dinstall Oracle 11g client on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit but the process hangs when it reaches the following:
Removing Windows and .NET products configuration START
It just hangs there for ever!
Checking the log file C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\winprod_cleanup.out and I can see the last thing in there is ""Deconfiguring ODP.NET Component...""
Any idea what could be the reason?

I was able to resolve it...Apparently I was logged on as administrator when I invoked deinstall which caused it to hang when it came to the part where it was getting ready to deinstall the .NET components...I logged off and loged in as myself and invoked the deinstall and it completed successfully...

  • Oracle 11g client installation on Solaris in non GUI mode

I want to know if there is a way i can install Oracle 11g client on Solaris 10 machine in non GUI mode (ie. i want to do it from a command based terminal)

    Hi Anup
You have two ways to install it
    1) Client installation without response file
Please Refer to Doc ID 885643.1
    2) With Response file
Refer to the document available in Document library
Document Oracle® Database Client Installation Guide
11g Release 2 (11.2) for Solaris Operating System
Note: from 11gR2 onwards you can create a response file from GUI also and then use it later on for silent installation.
Hope this is helpful for You

  • Oracle 11g Client Installation on Ubuntu

Hi, I tried to install the Oracle 11g Client on my Dell Inspiron laptop running ubuntu, the thing is that I did every step described in the Installation Guide but when I ran the ./runInstaller file, at the installation point the assistant raises an error and prompts for an action (Ignore, Retry, Cancel), and even if I choose ignore it keeps raising the same error, then I noticed in my terminal that the errors was because ubuntu couldn't find some commands used in the installation script, and that there was no installation steps for ubuntu in my guide, so I think the Client Installer I downloaded wasn't for ubuntu... could be the reason why I can't install the client? is there a script or some way to install the client on ubuntu?

Unfortunately there's no (official) installation guide from Oracle, because it's not supported. If you want to continue go to the Linux Technology Center on OTN and follow the instructions for unsupported platforms (under Installation Guides):

  • Repeatedly asked to install Flash 11 on IE 9 Windows Home Premium 64 bit

From my admin account - I successfully install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.  Everything works fine (in that same admin account) until a system reboot.  Then I receive messages from websites stating that they want me to install Adobe Flash.  I do so and all is well until the reboot.
I have followed all the instructions on the Adobe main troubleshooting pages from uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting through the deletion of folders at run %appdat%\Adobe - Flash Folder and %\Macromedia and then uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling etc.
Again, I receive a successful installation message and everything works properly until the reboot.   Looks like a lot of users have had this problem, but I haven't found a clean answer. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
I followed one suggestion and downloaded and ran Secunia PSI and found no older version of Flash Player installed.  I do also have Adobe CS 5 Suite installed. I also started receiving messages from HP Solution Software that it would not operate until the latest version of Adobe Flash is installed.  I uninstalled the HP software pending resolution.  Uninstalls and reinstalls of Flash were not successful after removing the HP software either.

Hello, I too have experienced the repeating of installing Flash Player after performing a successful install. The PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421, and Flash Player 11.4.402.265. The installation of the latest FP indicates a successfull install. Then when going to any site that uses FP, for example,, yahoo news, youtube, a message window indicates the latest FP needs to be installed.
I've went through the steps in thread 4613512 (FP uninstaller), 928315 (clean install), 987370 (permissions errors), the steps in this thread including deleting the %Appdata%\Macromedia folders prior to the install, removed references to Adobe 7 in the Windows registry (running Adobe 10.1.4). Also checked that Windows Media Player was not installed. It is not. All of the functions in the steps within these threads seemed to complete successfully. No errors or other problems were indicated. Would you have any suggestions on something else to try?  Thank you.

Recommendation : install the recommended service pack.

To get going with oracle on windows 7 64-bit. You can install oracle 10g 32 which you use for windows XP. Its unusal but successful. Install 10G it will get installed on program files x86. Then open tnsnames.ora files which will be either in program files x86/oracle/ or it will be in c:\oracle...write the correct server name in tnsnames and in PB while doing the configuration..write tns:servername in the server textbox. I did that and it got connected...incase u need any help let me know my email address is [email protected]

    Finally the install is successful.Congratulations.
And thank you for posting your solution. The security issue was quite a surprise to me as well, although it ties into a PC World article I read today.
To continue, please make sure you have a static IP address. If your system uses DHCP, that may mean setting up Loopback Adapter, configuring a static IP address other than for that (for example you can use, and updating C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. (note - no 3 char 'type on the hosts file) to include an entry like ' myhost', and perhaps setting your ORACLE_HOSTNAME variable. This is all described well in the Install documentaiton at
