Output channel mapping problem for surround encoder

vista 64 bit
sound blaster titanium x-fi sound card
logitech 5.1 speaker set up
hello, i am trying to mix a movie i made into 5.1. when i open the surround encoder, go to the audio hardware setup and try to set my output channel mapping i only get two speakers. i have a card that supports 5.1, 5.1 speakers, and get surround sound when i play a DVD. yet audition only recognizes my left and right speaker. any help on how i get my output channel mapping set correctly?
thanks in advance!

Thank you for the info, though I admit I'm still a bit confused.
My card is a creative x-fi extreme gamer.  It has 3 line out jacks and one line in jack.  T  Oh, here it is in the manual...thats just not good enough.
But what is the surround encoder dialog box doing, if not encoding surround mixes?  The manual says I can exportsurround sound from a multitrack session.

  • Audio Channel Mapping problems

    Hi Everyone,
I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.
I use Audition in two situations.
Firstly, with the internal soundcard (Mac Book Pro) when I'm out and secondly, when I'm at home with my focusrite scarlett.
When I'm out, Audition won't play as it can't find the focusrite.
Question: How do I use Audition in both situations?
My work around is to start up Audition with the shift key when I don't have the focusrite with me.
Any solutions that anyone can suggest?
With Logic, it just shows up a message saying my Focusrite isn't available.
    Many thanks!

    Thanks, ryclark for your reply!
When I'm not using the Focusrite:
The "Device Class" only shows "CoreAudio."
"Default Output" only shows "Built-in Output."
On the "Audio Channel Mapping" page, it has
    "Output":Device: Scarlett 2i2 USB" and
on "File Channels":  "1[L] Unknown-Device query failed."
So, it's remembering the Focusrite Scarlett, but then can't find it, so stops.
    Weird!
    Surely there's a workaround?
    Thanks!

  • Exported file sounds different inside Audition CS6 - audio channel mapping problem?

Hi guys. I've been working on some voice reels today, and for some reason my finished and exported files sound different to how they sound in Audition - basically, the music tracks increase in volume whenever the voice actor isn't speaking. As mentioned, this isn't happening in the Multitrack session, just when playing back the exported track in a third-party app, and has only been happening today. I've tried messing around with the Audio Channel Mapping and Audio Hardware settings in the Preferences, without any joy. I'm suspecting something's got messed up on the sound card, but just wanted to check that I haven't missed something painfully obvious inside of Audition!
    Specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X64 2.8 GHz, 8GB RAM
Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium
    M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX650Ti 2GB

Can't answer that without quite a bit more information about the third-party apps, what exactly you're exporting, workflow, etc. It won't be a mapping issue though - that will only affect the output of Audition to a hardware device.
But if you are exporting a single file with everything on, and it plays okay in Windows Media Player, for instance, then whatever is happening isn't with Audition, but whatever you are putting it back into. It sounds as though some sort of auto-leveling system is at work - and Audition wouldn't do that unless set up very specifically to do so.

  • Mapping problem for date field

    Hi XI Friends..
In my file to idoc scenario..
i have field date value :2006-10-10T14:10:10
i have convert the above field into two fields idate :20061010
    itime:141010
    i used substring datetransfer functions..
but in static test of message mapping ..i am getting value for itime as 021010
if we give before 12:00:00 its converting properly..after 12.:00:00 its taking 12hr format only..
    please guide me..
    regards

    Hi Ram,
    Is this still a problem?
I think the hint will also work in this case:
    sourcefield --> replaceString(sourceField/constant[T]/constant[]) --> TransformDate(yyyy-mm-ddHH:MM:SS --> HH:MM:SS) --> targetFieldTime
    sourcefield --> replaceString(sourceField/constant[T]/constant[]) --> TransformDate(yyyy-mm-ddHH:MM:SS --> YYYYMMDD) --> targetFieldDATE

  • Mapping problem for IDOC Type DESADV

    Dear all
I need to change Segment E1EDP07 in the message type DESADV.
I should concatenate VBELN and VGPOS into BSTNK.
I tried to do this with BD79 (Rules for Data Converting). This seems not to work as I can get only 1 sender Field.
So I tried to use the userexit EXIT_SAPLBD11_001, but it seems that this is not used. I have set a break-point for debugging and treated the IDOC with RSNAT00 without any stop.
Do you have any ideas how I can do this?

With the first one, you cannot do much, as there is no user exit in it. But in the second one, there is a user exit when the idoc data is parsed the exit name is EXIT_SAPLV55K_004 and is called in the subroutine  DESADV_IDOC_PARSE in the function.
But please note that the function IDOC_INPUT_DESADV1 is used with process code DELS for message type DESADV and Idoc type DELVRY01 and IDOC_INPUT_DESADV  is used with process code DESA and message type DESADV with IDoc type DESADV01.  So you might be using IDOC_INPUT_DESADV  function and unfortunately there are no user exits to handle your requirement.
My advice would be to check with the source system or the middleware to define the mapping of these fields according to your requirement. But if that is not possible, then you need to first check which message type and IDoc type you are receiving and proceed accordingly

  • Mapping Problem for header

    Hi experts,
I have one sender message as below :
    Header

    idoc 3
receiver message is as below :
    idoc
    - header
    - item
idoc 1 is mapped with idoc of receiver, header is mapped with header of idoc.
For idoc 1 one idoc is generated, for idoc 2 and idoc 3 different idocs are generated.
My query is for header data, it is coming only with idoc 1 when it is mapped with header, it should come with all the idoc data.

    Hi,
    Use
You require the function useOneAsMany() if a field that only occurs once needs to be replicated as often as another field occurs in the outbound message so that the fields can be written to the target structure in pairs as a record.

  • Key mapping problem for web forms !!!

    Hi all,
I have implemented forms 6 on the web using OAS 4.0.7 on WinNT SP 3 workstation. I have modified FMRWEB.RES file for activating F9 - LOV. We have a customized toolbar for our application. There are also shortcut keys defined for the same. For example, if the user presses ALT+S, then 'Save' button gets pressed. But when i run the form on the web, if the focus is on any list box, and if the user presses 'S', then 'Save' button gets pressed. I figured that if i deactivate 'ALT+S' key on the web, then it will work. How can i make the changes in FMRWEB.RES file ??
    Please advise urgently...Thanks

  • How to change 5.1 output channels?

I have set the output channels of 5.1 surround in the AUDIO MIDI SETUP to physical outputs 5-10. Soundtrack PRO still uses its own selection/order of 5.1 outputs (ie 1-6). How can I use other outputs of my audio interface?
    Tnx,
    Kustav

Change the outputs? ... you can't .... STP ignores the AudioMidi setup output allocations and has no internal system for assigning channel outputs to hardware outputs ... how could this be? ... how could Apple violate its own CoreAudio principles ...
The only workaround I've found is to use Cycling74's Soundflower audio routing tool ... Google it ... it's still not Leopard native, tho I think some folk have had luck with it ...
Maybe Apple will get around to adding what is essentially "basic" routing features to the next update ...

  • Problem - Channel Mapping in Audition 5.5 CS

I am trying to find a way to map more than one input channel at a time using Adobe Audition 5.5 CS on a Mac Pro Quad Core system connected to a PreSonus Studio Live 16.0.2. When going into the channel mapping options it only allows for mapping one input for one channel at a time, if wanting to use another input, it has to remapped each time before recording. As it is, I can only record with only one mic or from only one audio feed at a time, which makes it impossible to record a multiperson show at the same time. On the other hand, the option to map output channels has 16 available. Seems completely backwards, would be better to multiple input mapping, and a single output channel to hear the mix.... Please help..

In an attempt for clarity, it the screen shot above, In the top box there are only two input selections 1[L] (Mono) and 2[R] File Channels, each one has the option of the 16 PreSonus FireStudio Device Channels from the drop down menu as illustrated here, when clicking on the little triangles or arrows on the right. If you notice that in the box below the Input box is the Output, It offers a multitude of of File Channels that allow you to assign all of the output channels at once and are able to use them simultaneously. As you can see I have 1 and 2 assigned to 15 and 16 sliders channels on the mixer and then on 3 and 4 to slider 3 & 4 on the mixer and so on.... This is what is not available in the input section because there are only two File Channels available to assign at one time limiting record on a single stereo mic or audio feed... I'm not sure how else to explain my problem.   I would like to be able to use more than one slider on the mixer to record from at the same time.. in this situation it can only record from one slider input at one time...Thanks for all of your patience and input, I appreciate all of your reply's and have checked them all. But still have this problem...

  • Output Mapping Preference for 5.1 Audio

    Hello,
I have my editing hardware hooked up to a surround sound processor (via HDMI) which feeds 7.1/5.1 speakers and an HDTV.  The HDTV displays the output monitor content just fine, but I have been unable to get Premiere Pro CC 2014 to output 5.1 sound for real-time preview.  Everything keeps getting downmixed to stereo.
Here's what I have for my Audio Preferences:
Here's what I have for the Output Mapping Preferences:  (Not sure why I don't have 6 channels to choose from here.)
If I click on the ASIO Settings button, this is what I get:
Even the NVidia 880M HDMI Specifications show that surround sound is available via HDMI:
I am able to watch 7.1 Blu-Rays from this computer and the surround sound processor has no trouble processing it.  I am able to test the audio using the Windows Audio settings and it plays 5.1 or 7.1 just fine.
So, why can't I get Premiere Pro to output 5.1 discrete audio during real-time playback?  Why am I being forced to Map the Output to only 2 channels?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

When plugged into the Denon Surround Sound Receiver via HDMI, it looks like this:
When I click on "Open Windows Sound settings..." I get this:
When I click on the DENON-AVR-4 device and then the "Configure" button, I get this and everything tests out fine (each speaker test plays the test sound in the correct speaker:

  • Surround encoder lowers output level of exported .wavs??

I've been playing with the surround encoder for awhile now , in Audition 1.0 and the free trial version of 3.0.  I record and export 6-channel sessions as
either interleaved wav or 6 mono wavs.  When I was using Audition 1.0, there was no change in channel level in the exported file versus the original recording level, i.e., if the 'Left front' channel peaks at 0dBFS during recording, so does the Left front channel of the exported file, when I re-open it in Audition or Audacity.
But with Audition 3.0, something odd is happening.  All of the exported channels are -3dB or so compared to their original recording level!  I.e., a track that originally peaked at 0dBFS , peaks at about -3dB FS when I reopen it after export.
I have checked that the output levels for the Surround Encoder and are all at max for each channel (and 0dB gain/cut for the master output slider).  I don''t see anything in the preference settings that would account for this,  I happens regardless of exporting as interleaved waved or 6 mono wavs.  It does NOT  happen if I record and save 2-channel audio in Edit View.
Any ideas?  Did something about surround encoder export change  between Audition 1.0 and 3.0?

No, but the mixer did. I haven't tried this, but if you go to Preferences>Multitrack and change the pan law default setting from -3dB center to L/R cut Log, the chances are that your mix will come out 3dB higher.

  • Surcode for Media Encoder CC jumbling and subduing channels

I brought a 5.1 project from CS6 over to CC and the CC surcode totally shuffles the channels and renders the dialogue (mainly on center channel) nearly inaudible and coming from the left.
I created a test project in Premiere with bars and tone where the tone moves in a circle (plus a rumble to test the LFE) in this order:
    Left
    Center
    Right
    Right Surround
    Left Surround
    LFE
Using Mpeg2-DVD to transcode, here is how the channels are mapped on the ac3 file:
    Left
    Left Surround
    Right
    (silence)
    Center
    LFE
So somehow my Center channel is being mapped to Left Surround and vice-versa, while my Right Surround channel is going nowhere.
Any idea what may be the reason for this bizarre situation?

I have done some further experimenting and here is what I found:
First of all, the problem occurs only when using the surcode. In the case of the big CS6 project I was able to use the workaround of creating a 5.1 wav file then creating a new ac3 file from that.
With the reconfiguration of the Premiere audio tracks in CC, it seems that in order to properly transcode a 5.1 sequence with the Dolby Surcode, all audio clips in the sequence MUST be mono. Therefore any stereo source clips must be split into two mono clips and laid in on two tracks.
The dialogue tracks of my large converted projects are all mono, but I am assuming the problem is being caused by the stereo clips in the sequence.
For that existing project, I'm just going to continue using the workaround rather than reconfiguring the entire timeline.

  • Need to use quadrature encoder to trigger (RTSI) single point DAQ on 2 channels of E-Series DAQ, using 6602 NI-TIO for counting encoder pulses.

This is for LV6i, W2000, all PCI equipment.
Using a quadrature-measure position-VI, I get 7200 edges/rev from the encoder of my physical system. This equates to 0.05 degrees of angular displacement. This amounts to an angle stamp as opposed to a time stamp.
I need each of these 7200 edges (source: 6602 NI-TIO) to trigger (using RTSI) the acquisition of a single sample from each of 2 channels on an E-Series DAQ board (maybe more channels later). I only need/want one rev (7200 samples per channel) of data for each run of the test. As I write this I think I want pre-triggering and a little more than a rev of data. So the
re is a buffering step. Anyway, you can get the idea.
I need this angle stamp and the DAQ samples to be placed in an array and on the hard drive for graphing and other mathematical treatment, analysis, etc.
I think there must be a way to use the quadrature output of the counter/timer as a scan clock for the DAQ board, but I haven't seen an example to guide me.
It seems like all of the RTSI or other triggering examples I have seen trigger once to start a continuous scan, not a series of discrete samples repeated quickly. I am not sure how to fill an array with this data. Again, examples are for continuous sampling, not a series of discrete readings.
Any hints on any part of this task will greatly appreciated. This is my first LV project.

Sounds like a fairly ambitious first project!
I assume your 7200 edges/rev come from an encoder with 2 channels in quadrature which each provide 1800 cycles/rev. You can clock in analog data at 1800 scans/rev with either of the two encoder channels, but will probably need an external quadrature decoder circuit to produce 7200 scans/rev. Either method can be done with screwdriver and wire or else by using another counter from the 6602 and the RTSI bus. Here are two approaches in detail, but you could mix-and-match as needed.
Note also that if you can be sure that your reference encoder will be uni-directional, you wouldn't need to measure position -- position could be determined by the array index of the analog scan data. This would simplify things greatly.
    1800 scans/rev, screwdriver & wire
Wire both encoder channels to your 6602 breakout box and configure your counter for the 4x quadrature option. Send a wire from one of the encoder channel connections at your 6602 breakout box to a PFI pin at your E-series board breakout box. Config the analog acquisition to use an external scan clock and specify the correct PFI pin -- there are built-in examples that will guide you. Now one edge of one encoder channel acts as a scan clock for your analog acquisition. Inside the 6602 breakout box, route the same signal to one of the default gate pins and configure your encoder counter gate to use that pin as its gate signal. Note that there will be a race condition governing whether the encoder value updates from the encoder inputs before or after the value is latched by the gate.
    7200 scans/rev, extra counter & RTSI
Make sure you have a RTSI connector between your two acquisition boards inside your PC. Build a quadrature decoder circuit that will convert your two encoder channels into a clock and direction output. (Consider the LSI 7084 decoder chip or similar). Setup your "encoder" counter for buffered position measurement. Use "Counter Set Attribute" to define "up down" as "digital" (don't use it to define "encoder type"). The clock output goes to the counter SOURCE and the direction output goes to the counter UP_DOWN pin.
Use "Adjacent Counters.vi" to identify the counter considered adjacent to your encoder counter. Configure it for "retriggerable pulse generation". Use "Counter Gate (NI-TIO).vi" to specify "other counter source" as the gating signal. Configure the output pulse specs to be short duration (make sure total of delay + pulse width is less than the minimum period of the incoming encoder clock signals). Use "Route Signal.vi" to send this counter's output onto the RTSI bus, say RTSI 0.
Now configure the analog acq. to use RTSI 0 as its external scan clock. Also configure the encoder counter to use RTSI 0 as its gate signal. Voila! Now your quadrature decoder clock output acts as a scan clock for analog acquisition and a "gate" to buffer your encoder measurement. The short delay helps ensure that the clock updates the position measurement before the gate fires to latch the value.
Respond if you need clearer explanation. There's a fair amount of decent info "out there" if you scour the online help and this website. Good luck!

  • Server 2008R2 mapping to shared folders fails users of Windows 8.1 but seems OK on Windos 8.0 and no problems for Windows 7

Having read what I could from the related questions, the answers still elude me.  This issue apparently is specific to Windows 8.1.
    First, a little background.
1:  The server is not on a domain,  The system runs Server 2008-R2 standard with all folders shared across a standard "Workgroup" type network.  They would prefer to
    leave this layout intact.
2:  The shared folders are nothing but Data files.  There are no active system folders or anything used in an "active" environment.  They are mostly Word doc, excel
files, pdf, txt, etc.  However, due to the requirements of the software that needs to access these files, they Must
reside on a mapped network drive letter. Nothing else works due to the way the SQL database program stores the reference points back to the data.
I have had some success using what amounts to a “simulated” mapping using  WebDAV to access the server.  But access speed is a lot slower ad file size is limited.
3:  The system has been configured as-is for the past 3 years with Users all on Windows 7 x64 (mixed OS, some Home Premium, some Professional) and the only problems that come up are when
access is through an ISP that blocks port 445.  This was the original reason for finding a WebDAV/Cloud method just for those Users since they were unable to Map drives to anything on the Office Servers from their Home Internet even when using a VPN.
When Windows 8.0 became the only version available, I added a few users whose new laptops came with 8.0 from the vendors.  While there were a very few minor problems, for all practical
purposes, I was still able to provide access to the mapped folders.
As the Windows 8.1 roll-out progressed, some users were successfully upgraded while others  are still stuck in Windows 8.0.  The issues with this seem to be hardware related and vary
depending on the Make and model of the laptop.  I have been assured that eventually all of these will be able to advance to 8.1.  But this delay has given me an excellent mixed OS environment for testing.
On the users who have not yet purchased new equipment and who are still using Windows 7.  There has been no change.  Their drive mapping is stable and they can always connect as usual.
Those blocked from lack of port 445 or still blocked.  Systems inside the Office and those with ISP's who allow port 445 can use all mapped drives as normal.
Users who had Windows 8.0 and who have not yet been able to upgrade to 8.1 also have been unaffected.  Same results as Windows 7.
Users who got the Windows 8.1 upgrade as well as those that came factory loaded with Windows 8.1 seem to be a never-ending list of problems.  The ones that came native with 8.1 are worst
of all.  The list of error codes runs through everything that has to do with “communication with the server”.  As far as I have seen, this appears to be the issue.
Whether they are in the office on a wired network connection or at home on a Wi-Fi connection, the issues have the same results but the actual error codes may vary slightly.  All of
them refer back to an inability to communicate with the server.
Nothing on the server has changed in any way.  Users with Windows 7 continue to have zero problems,  Users with Windows 8.0 seem to be doing fine as well.  Only those with Windows
8.1 are affected and their problems are dramatic with everything from a total loss of drive mapping to misdirected data when the maps are active.
I have tried to make the drives automatically remap on reboot. I have tried registry modifications.  I have done everything I can think of to make a difference but the results are the same
for every system using 8.1.  The mapped drive letters invariably disappear.  Sometimes while the system is in use ( I think I have been able to trace this to times when the system enters Sleep or Hibernate) but always when the system reboots.
One detail that might point to somewhere is that the "time to connect" when mapping the drive is so long that I believe some of the original failures were due to not waiting for a
minimum of 3 or 4 minutes to give time for the Shares to show-up in order to map them.  Once the mapping is successful, the file access speed seems normal.  But invariably, the drive becomes "unmapped" repeatedly each day.
I know this was a long question but I have tried to provide every possible detail for anyone who has experienced events like this who may already have a solution.  I would even be glad
to purchase a 3rd party application if that is what it takes to get this to work.  My next planned effort is to try using Server 2013 but I am afraid that might open another can of worms for those who still use Windows 7.
I have also been told that this is in some way related to the push to "Cloud" support in Windows 8.1 OS but I do not see where this would come in.  I can say that this was the
one place where things continued to work as before.  People who had Windows 8.1 and who had to use the CLOUD copies of our data are still able to connect to it with no problems.
Any suggestions appreciated.  Preferably those that would not need extensive changes to the basic network structure.  This "workgroup" consists of less than 25 users and any
extreme measures would be hard to justify

    Hi,
I sugget you try to ping server so that we can verify the connectivity.
Can windows 8.1 access Windows Server 2008R2?
Also, please check the event viewer to see if some error log appeared when the issue occurred.
