Point In Time Journal in main report

I use the Dynamics GP v10 database. The system keeps item inventory on hand quantities based on initial on hand values that were in the item quantities table then keeps a journal of changes since that point in a table specific to the transactions. The transactions are based on locations.
IV00101 - Item master (Basic setup of the item and default location)
IV00102 - Item Quantities (Item quantities based on the totals for each location, not bins)
IV30300 - Item Transaction History Line Records (the item quantity transactions by line item and coorelating location).
Now, what I am doing in crystal is to select the correct transaction and location is below. Item number is a parameter. I additionally have the transaction date as a parameter as well.
{IV00102.LOCNCODE} = {IV00101.LOCNCODE} and
{IV30300.ITEMNMBR} = {?Item Number} and
not ({IV00101.ITEMTYPE} in [2, 4, 5, 6])
I have found that when the old consultants converted from the old database to Great Plains, for about 100 items they incorrectly set the initial on hand value held on IV00102. So when the system uses the journal in IV30300 to adjust the on hand value in IV00102, it is wrong unless I evaluate for what the wrong beginning balance is. What this means is that I can not use the journal itself to determine on hand. Now somewhere in the system it presents a balance which is the on hand, but I have not found anywhere in the system where a static beginning inventory balance number exists but that it rolls backwards or something. So that was a pain but now it is working so I can put in one item number and a date to determine the on hand at the time of an order at any given time in the past.
So that sets the stage. Here is the problem. I have to then use this in a main report where all sales line items are analyzed for on hand at time of sale. So each line item, up to 4000 or more per month. This takes a considerable time to process a journal history for every line item. Also, because I have to make this journal process a sub report to do analysis on the returned number I use variables to pass the number through to the main report. To make that work correctly, I have to run this at the group level because the sub report must run first to be passed to a variable and used for record level processing. But, that only works when I am looking at one day's worth of sales. If I am trying to process an entire month, it does not work as the sub report does not regenerate data for each record which has different dates.
So, comes down to this. Anyone know how to make the database itself create a view of all data and present a running balance for all items, which would require 1. resetting balance figures at each change of item number and 2. adjusting for improperly set begging On hand balance numbers.
If that is not possible, then how do I use the sub so it passes the data up for use in the active report on the line intended and not the line below?

Hi Allen, Great Plains is an OEM partner of ours so you should post/ask your question of them. They will know the DB and how to get to where you want to be.

  • How to develp a subreport in the same page of the main report and processed when is called

    SSRS 2012
    Hi guys,
I am developing a report that includes a subreport.
therefore The report is made up by 2 sections:
    1) Show a grid (several rows - may be 100 or more - and some columns). It represent high level info  (Each row represent a specific item)
    2) The user click on a Row/column (eg: Item1, to see details that must be shown as graph.
Here the problem: Searching info about SSRS reporting for subreports, drilldown, nested report and so on, no ones accomplish the requirements for the following reasons:
    1) Subreports: NOT open in the same page. The user must <go back> to see detail for other items, such as Item 2....
    2) Nested and DrillDown: Process data as the Main report (they are hidden and displayed after user action). In my case this leads to performance problem, because: if the main report has 200 objects (it means 200 graphs processed and hidden at the same time
    for the main reports).
    3) DrillThrough and Subreport: The detail data are processed only when the user select the interested item in the main report. Here the problem: the report is shown externally.
Please, it there any possibility to have a subreport (or anything else) to be executed in the same report as the main report and processed only when the user make action?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Fasttrack2,
According to your description, there is a main report with more than 100 rows of summary information, when users click the item of the row, the report need to jump to detail information shows as graph. The problem you are facing is that you are not sure
subreport, drilldown or drillthrough report should be used? You hope to set display detail information in the main report and keep high performance of report.
In Reporting Services, each subreport instance is a separate query execution and a separate report processing task. Subreports are recommended when there are just a few subreport instances. We should not use subreports inside a group when there are many
group instances, instead, consider using drillthrough reports. Drilldown reports process all data even when the data is first hidden. In order to improve the performance of the report, we can split drilldown reports into parameterized drillthrough reports,
because Drillthrough reports do not run until a user clicks the drillthrough link in the main report.
In this case, we can consider using drilldown or drillthrough report. In drilldown report, when we click a plus or minus button to expand or collapse a section of a report, the detail data will be displayed in place. By using drillthrough report, when we
click the link in the main report, the detail data will be displayed, we can come back to the main report by click return button in the drillthrough report.

  • Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs 2008 R2

Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs
    Hi,
Am using more than 100 subreports in my main report using ssrs 2008 R2.
And given conditional Visibility in sub reports based on the Parameter selection in main Report . But the performance is very very slow in main report.
While selecting single sub report executes in seconds. The same report in main report executes in hours.
    According to my view,
All the Sub reports executes and finally conditional visibility is working. Can we Control executing sub reports?
Regards, Gayathri devi P.S. : Please click the 'Mark as Answer' button if a post solves your problem! :)

    Hi,
I think the time to render 100 report sure will be long time and the main report want to render those reports.
So first why you do not separate those report on many reports for different purpose.
second if this is a dashboard report you may use many matrix in the same report and the parameters passed by default or based on expression.
I really hope if you make your report as dashboard report, many matrix many parameters render it once. As I remember I think SSRS will try to execute your
DataSets in parallel which will reduce your waiting time.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Structuring a Business Area for Reporting Periods and Points in Time

    Dear all,
I'm in the process of designing my first business area for discoverer.
The database is for people staying in accommodation over various periods.
(Anything from individual days to periods of 15 years!!)
The reports I'm producing fall into two categories:
    (a) Reports on periods of time such as:
Accomodation days during a year broken down by Region
Trend of accommodation days per month during a two year period
    (b) Reports on a particular point in time such as:
Number of people in accommodation on a particular day
I'm trying to work out how to structure the business area.
If I think about requirement (a), I'm inclined to create a view which
splits up periods into one month chunks (the smallest period I think I need).
By this I mean having a view which gives me a row for every month for which any period of accommodation is active. This makes reporting on a monthly basis fairly easy.
If I think about (b), I'm inclined to create a view which leaves the accommodation periods as single rows and then calculate a boolean field which indicates whether that accomodation is active on the date in question.
It seems that these two requirements need different structures in the business area. Maybe it's best to create two folders which draw on the two different views.
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Suhada

    Hi,
As you would probably expect, it all depends on your requirement and the table design.
You can create a date hierarchy in Discoverer that contains the day, month, year levels and this will make it easy to create reports with totals aggregated at these levels.
However, if your table contains, for example, the start and end dates when people move in and out of accommodation, then you will need to have a period table so that you can report on the months between the start and end dates. The period table will list all past and future months and you can join this to your data to obtain totals for all the periods.
If you need to have reports that display zeros or nulls for periods where there is no data, then you will need to outer join your data with a period table.
The decision on whether to use views or folders and joins in the EUL depends on the complexity of your data model. If you need to join many tables together to produce a single report, then you should consider putting some or all the joins into database views.
    Hope that helps,

  • Treasury report - Interest accrual for instrument over a given point of tim

    Hi,
One of the treasury managers at our US-based client location has the following requirement for a Treasury report:
u2022     Is there a report in SAP that will tell the manager how much interest would accrue for an instrument over a given point of time?
u2022     For example, it would tell the manager what the TBB4 transaction would accrue for an instrument next year provided that the principal payments occur as they are scheduled to occur in the Treasury module?
u2022     The client is talking about accruals and not payments
u2022     He would like to have a standard SAP report as far as possible that would circumvent the need to manually get a dump of principal payments/rates and manipulate it in Excel
Any pointers welcome u2013 SAP standard reports preferred.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Atish

    Hi,
Check the report S_ALN_01001154.  Specify the key date and the transaction number, it will give the accrued interest till that key date which will be posted through TBB4.

  • Not having to refresh the data in the main report but only in the subreport

    Hi SAP,
I have a report that uses a stored procedure in the main report and uses regular database tables in the subreport.  The data returned from the stored procedure reports information from the month-end database (a cutoff point from the previous month's numbers) while the subreport reports information from the live database.  This report gets run everyday to show the changes in numbers from the live database.  Obviously the numbers from the month-end database remainds static until the next month's cutoff database is created.
My problem is that everyday when I run the report, the data needs to refresh from both the stored procedure in the main report and the live database tables in the subreport.  How can I leave the data returned from the stored procedure static or as is without refreshing the stored procedure returned data and just have the subreport data refresh itself?  The stored procedure really puts a strain on the database and I would like to cut-out the time to process the report as well.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    Zack

    Hi Zack,
Try the following under Report options.
    1. Clear the check box of "Verify Stored Procedures on First Refresh" in the Main report.
    2. Select the check box of "Verify on First Refresh" in  the sub report.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sort Main Report on variable passed from Subreport

    Post Author: realw
    CA Forum: Formula
I'm working on a CR XI report. I want to be able to sort the main report on a value in the subreport. I am trying to create a shared variable to pass that value from the subreport to the main report. So far, however, the formula containing the variable in the main report is not appearing as an option in the Sort dialogue box.
My first question is, can this be done?
If the answer is yes, then which sections in the subreport and main report should the formula appear in?
What I have at this point is:
In the last Details section of Subreport, formula @ssSubCreator
    WhilePrintingRecords;Shared StringVar Cre;Cre:= {CreCreat_csv.SummaryData};
In the Report Header of the Main report, formula @ssCre
    Shared StringVar Cre:="";
In the Details section of the Main report, following the section containing the Subreport, formula @ssCreator
    Shared StringVar Cre;Cre
I can see that the data is passing correctly to the Main report. I've tried moving the formulas around to different sections in the sub and main reports but haven't gotten the formula to be sortable.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
    Will

How about just grouping the data in the main report on the formula? (Supress group header and footer, obviously)
I don't have crystal to hand right now to check if that'll work though - you may run into problems with the 'cannot evaluate at this time' issue... but I use this technique for sorting data based on a chosen parameter (say: surname, forenames, age) in this way...

  • Refreshing subreport data on change of group in the main report

I have created three comma delimited strings in a subreports and then introduced them to the main report. The subreports are simple with no groups. I have one subreport for Authors, one for Departments and one for Schools. This is ok if I filter the data down to one publication. If I remove the filter then I get every instance of each of the subreports. ie all authors in a comma delimited string, all departments and all schools.
I have two groups in the main report, Publication Year (Group #1) and Publication Title (Group #2). This is where I have the problem. The data coming from the subreports show all instances as mentioned above. I want the subreports data to refresh each time the group changes. I need it to only show the necessary comma delimited string for each publication, not every instance.

    Hi Abhilash,
The logic has worked correctly but the performance is really poor. Is this because I have there subreports doing similar funcitons? Is this a topic for another discussion?
Also, when I try to export the report to xls data only it starts the export but then a msg comes up on the screen relating to the second formula you gave me for comma delimited strings for schools:
    SAP Crystal Reports
String length is less than 0 or not an integer.
This relates to the third line in the code:
    Left(schools, len(schools)-2);
It then aborts the export. Is this a topic for another discussion also?
    Thanks

  • Point in time snapshot

    Hi,
I'm very new to Oracle and this is my first post so if I miss anything important, please excuse my ignorance...
We have a Oracle 10g datawarehouse which contains service desk data on tickets, agent performance etc.
I'm specifically trying to obtain a count of tickets that were in an active status and were sat with a certain group at a certain point in time.
The table TICKETS contains the usual ticket data, ticketnumber, open date, close date etc and the refgroup field which indicates current group ownership.
The select statement below works for all tickets currently owned by Group1 that were active (not closed) at 00:00:00 on Monday but doesn't take into account changes in group ownership so a ticket could be counted by the statement on first run but if the group changes, it will not be included.
We have a table which records SLA events for each ticket such as (but not only) group transfers and the date each transfer took place and this table is linked from the TICKETS table via a ticket ID field in each.
Each row in this table has a GroupName value to show the group responsible for each event, as in the below example.
If for example the snapshot date is 13/07/09 00:00:00, is there a way to calculate from the SLA events records as below, whether Ticket1 fits this criteria?
This is basically an expression field in Crystal Reports so I can work with either a field that returns a 1 or 0 at the ticket level and then count within the app, or a field that returns a total count of all tickets that fit this criteria.
    Thanks alot in advance.
    Andy.
    TicketNumber GroupName EventDateTime
    Ticket1 Group1 09/07/09 08:43:21
    Ticket1 Group1 09/07/09 14:28:35
    Ticket1 Group2 14/07/09 13:12:10
    SELECT
    COUNT(TICKETNUMBER)
    FROM
    "ORGANIZATION"
    INNER JOIN "TICKETS"
    ON "ORGANIZATION"."ORG_ID" = "TICKETS"."ORGANISATION_FK"
    WHERE

Looking at the doc you linked I think this query should do what I'm after but running it gives me an insufficient priviledges error. In case you're wondering what privileges are ineeded, under "SELECT - Prerequisites" the [SQL Language manual|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_10002.htm#i2065699] says:
"To issue an Oracle Flashback Query using the flashback_query_clause, you must have the SELECT privilege on the objects in the select list. In addition, either you must have FLASHBACK object privilege on the objects in the select list, or you must have FLASHBACK ANY TABLE system privilege."
Will have to see how this goes if I can get priviledges assigned to the account I'm using.
    SELECT
    COUNT(TICKETNUMBER)
    FROM
    "ORGANIZATION"
    AS OF TIMESTAMP LEAST(TRUNC(SYSDATE),TRUNC(SYSDATE,'IW'))
    INNER JOIN "TICKETS"
    ON "ORGANIZATION"."ORG_ID" = "TICKETS"."ORGANISATION_FK"
    WHERE
    "ORGANIZATION"."ORG_NAME" = 'Org1'
    AND "TICKETS"."REFGROUP" = 'Group1'
    AND "TICKETS"."STATUS" <> 'Closed'
    Looks good.
This will join the organization table as it exsited at 00:00 on Monday to the tickets table as it exists at run-time.
TRUNC (dt, x) is never later than dt, so you can just say
    AS OF TIMESTAMP TRUNC(SYSDATE, 'IW')

  • Balance Sheet translation at spot rate at ANY point in time

My client produces its financial accounts in AUD.  They will have open items in AR, AP and Bank in foreign currencies.  WITHOUT running periodic valuation they wish to produce a Balance Sheet at any point in time during the month applying the applicable daily spot rate to valuate the Foreign Currency open items (for reporting purposes only).  I have run S_ALR_87012284 and maintained the special evaluations tab for Display Currency (AUD), Key date for translation (current date) and exchange rate type (spot rate type).  However, this does not appear to be revaluating the open items in the subledger accounts to produce the balance sheet at the current spot rate.  Appreciate input / alternate approach.  Cheers, Dean.

    Hi Chirag
As per Oracle following are the rules that has to be followed for translation.
    1. For Balance Sheet Accounts (Asset & Liabilities) GL as a default uses the YTD rule.
    2. For P&L Accounts you can choose between YTD and PTD rule. So in your case you can use the default PTD Rule. (Profile Option 'GL Translation: Revenue/Expense Translation Rule')
YTD Rule = (Translated Period Amount = Period-End Rate x YTD Ledger Currency Balance - Beginning Translated Balance).
PTD Rule = (Translated Period Amount = Period Average Rate x PTD Ledger Currency Balance)
    Hope this helps.

    2. MySubReport2
    My Question is :
How to show all view tab (Main Report and all Sub Report) at the 1st time we call ViewReport?

    oRptView.ViewReport
but only show Main Report (view tab name : Preview)?
Did I miss any command before I call oRptView.ViewReport?

Your right, there is only one tab to view the report.
To open the subreports you will need to click on them in the main report. I don't know of a way to open them programmatically like you are doing here

  • Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

    Hi there,
Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
    formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
    formula name=subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
    subIntRatePageCount;
I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of  3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

    Also thanks Raghavendra, Asha,
I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.

    Robert.

  • Can somebody give some real time questions for alv report

    hi guru
can somebody give some real time questions for alv report.
    answers also.
    regards
    subhasis.

    hi,
The ALV is a set of function modules and classes and their methods which are added to program code. Developers can use the functionality of the ALV in creating new reports,  saving time which might otherwise have been spent on report enhancement
The common features of report are column    alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. <b>To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).</b>
Using ALV, we can have three types of reports:
       1. Simple Report
       2. Block Report
       3. Hierarchical Sequential Report

  • How to pass an integer parameter from main report to subreport?

I don't understand why this isn't working, but I have a main report with parameters:
    StartDate=datetime,
    EndDate=datetime,
    Program=text,
    ChartType=text.
In this RDL, I have a chart with Action configured on this bar chart series.  The Action expression is:
    ="javascript:void(window.open('http://evolvssrs/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fIncoming%2fCensus+Report+Modifier&rs:Command=Render&rc:Parameters=true&StartDate=" & Parameters!StartDate.Value & "&EndDate=" & Parameters!EndDate.Value & "&Program=" & Fields!program_info.Value & "&ChartType=" & Fields!ChartType.Value & "','_blank'))"
(program_info is a FIELD uniqueidentifier value matching the value of the Program parameter).
So for this subreport, I have tried ChartType parameter as both integer and text, but each time i click on a bar from the main report, it opens a new window with ChartType field empty.  But the other 3 parameters: Start Date, End Date, and Program are
all populated.  Why is it doing this and how can I fix please?
    Ryan D

    Hi Ryan,
If I understand correctly, you have got empty in the ChartType parameter text box when you enable go to URL action.
In my test, if the value we pass to the subreport which is not include in the parameter available values, we would get the empty text box. Please check if it has the specific ChartType values in the subreport parameter available values.
Alternatively, please check if it has pass value to the subreport. We can add a parameter without available values and default values to check if it is can accept the Field ChartType Value from the main report.
    Hope this helps.

  • Subreport data use to group Values in Main Report

    Hello,
I create a Subreport in my header to calculate values, the formula is based on a specific sorting and comparison of previous values.
In my main report I need to Group my values depending on the result. Because the group I will made on the Main Report can't be the same sorting of the SubReport.
    SUB-REPORT
    1 Paris (result "Capital")
2 Lille (result "Same Country of Paris")
3 Lyon (result "Same Country of Paris")
    4 London (result "Capital")
5 Manchester ("Same Country of London")
    MAIN-REPORT
    Group
    - CAPITAL (Paris, London)
    - Same Country of London (Manchester)
    - Same Country of Paris (Lille, Lyon)
My issue, is that I don't know how to group values on MainReport based on a formula Result of the SubReport
OR, may be there is a way to search on value in the sub-report ?

You can't use a shared variable to group on from a sub report in the main report since a shared variable evaluation time is done whileprintingrecords.
Try using a SQL expression to return the same result as the subreport would. You  can  then group on the SQL expression
