How can we install SFTP adapter in sap pi?
How it works at sender and receiver side?
Regards,
Amar.

Hello,
How can we install SFTP adapter in sap pi?
First you need to purchase SFTP adapter from third party vendors e.g Seeburger, AEDAPTIVE, etc
And then follow the steps mentioned here:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0e0117a-3167-2d10-d2ae-f87dfa5e00f0?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
Hope this helps,

  • BizTalk 2013 SFTP Adapter : Host Instance configured for SFTP Receive cause high CPU usage

    Hi,
Our BizTalk 2013 Server test env have 16 GB RAM.  We have one SFTP Receive Location which is using a dedicated Host instance for SFTP receive.
As soon as we start this SFTP Host Instance it starts consuming 50-60% CPU. (Even when it is not handling any file receive)
As suggested in below thread, to fix this issue, we changed the SFTP RL default configuration. i.e. Changed polling interval from default 0 sec to
10 minutes and also changed the RL Schedule window to business hours only.
    https://connectedpawns.wordpress.com/2014/04/13/biztalk-2013-sftp-adapter-biztalk-host-receiving-throttled-because-processmemory-exceeded-the-configured-throttling-limit/#comment-2602
Even after changing the RL configuration , the Host Instance continuously consumes ~60% CPU.
Any suggestions to troubleshoot more on this issue ?
    Thanks in advance !!
    Anoop

This is one of the issue which has already been raised to Microsoft and hopefully a public build will be available soon  in next cumulative update pack .
There are variety of reason for this starting for password mismatch or password not given , SFTP adapter unable to connect and so on .
There is good post here in below link for this issue
    http://thoughtsofmarcus.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/leaving-password-blank-in-biztalk-2013.html
Another greate artcicle is by Nino which states these issues .SFTP adapter is  protocol  sensitive and some configuration by server side, can cause a lot of crazy situations

  • Issue with network or SFTP adapter

    Hi Guys,
we have found a case where a file has been received empty by the receviers, although we can see in PI that message contains data and transmitted successfully from AE.
Please note that SFTP adapter is being used here and file contains encrypted data which is being sent outside the organization network.
Can it be network or there is issue with SFTP adapter?
Let me knw if you have any queries.
    Regards,
    Aki

there was no error occured in AE monitoring as per logs it processed successfully, but receiver party which is outside organization network complained saying that they receive this file empty.

  • Key based authentication issue in SFTP adapter

    Dear Experts,
We have a scenario ECC -->SAP PI 7.0-->SFTP server where we are trying to connect to the SFTP server with a Advantco(3rd Party) SFTP adapter. We have placed our private key in a local folder in PI server (not using Net Weaver Key Store) and shared corresponding OpenSSH public key to the trading partner maintaining the SFTP adapter. However, while trying to connect the server through PI, we are getting “com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth fail” error. Our basis team has confirmed that the SFTP server is reachable when they are trying manually having the same key-pair, but only our SFTP adapter is not able to connect.
Could you please tell me if we are missing any part of configuration? Like any specific location we need to place the private key in PI server?

It's solved now. there was some problem related to passphrase we were giving at the time of generating the key. We have generated a key pair without passphrase and the adapter can reach the target SFTP server properly.
    Thanks,
    Soham

  • Receiver SFTP adapter giving spaces between characters in the Output file

    Hi PI Experts,

  • Receiver SAP SFTP adapter-errorlog on SFTP server

    Experts,
I am using receiver SAP SFTP adapter to connect to an SFTP server and send files.Receiver SFTP server is a VMS system.I could able to write the files to home directory of the user that has been given, but apart from writing the files I am seeing warning log file in the the target folder on SFTP server like below description.I am giving dot(.) in the file path to write the files to the default directory that has been assigned to the user given by receiver SFTP server team.
WARNING: ssh_file_server_receive_proc: platform cannot stat() filename /home/dir1/dir2 ./TestFile(TestFile is my file name) .
Just to test,we placed files in the receiver SFTP server using same user and password as the PI recv SFTP channel with command line and winsCP client tool, but we don't see any error logs on the server with WinSCP tool or command line transfer of the files.Log file with above  warning is generating only when we place files on the server using SAP SFTP adapter in the recv channel of PI.
Please let me know,if you have any insight or seen similar issue.
    Thank you,

Hi Poonam - Blogs on SFTP : Just search for SFTP and filter by blogs/documents.. you can find many..

I read in some of the SDN forum that SFTP adapter doesnt have the capability to read the files from multiple directories. So, if we get any requirement to read the files from multiple directories using sftP, why could be a possible solution for this requirement?
    >>> Yes. It is only possible with NFS.
You have to define multiple channels/interfaces...

  • Sending empty files using SFTP Adapter

I am trying to send empty files using SFTP adapter. The interface has to send the file whether its empty file or containing data using SFTP adapter. I am using BizTalk Server 2013 R2. Is it a bug or the hotfix is already there for this issue.

The issue here is not your SFTP not able to send 0KB files, but the file receive adapter that is receiving the file. The file adapter deletes 0 KB files and doest not transmit it further.
If u have a ftp receive for example you should be able to send 0KB files.
If u have a custom file receive adapter , is it handling 0KB files ?

  • WCF-SAP vs SFTP Adapter

    Hi All,
We've an existing interface that picks up IDocs from SAP using WCF-SAP adapter, these IDocs contain updates to data that are in turn subscribed by two other SAP systems via couple of Send Ports using the same WCF-SAP adapter. In production we've been facing
performance issues with this design as when there are mass updates in SAP, they push up to 7 to 10K IDocs through, which BizTalk struggles with and that also creates issues for SAP as the queue is not read in quick time which starts building up and creates
    issues on the source system.
Now one of the solution proposed for above problem is to use a file based adapter like FILE, SFTP etc. where SAP will publish IDocs as flat files, I believe that'll solve the problem of backlog building on SAP queue and SAP can continue to write files without
impacting by BizTalk not picking them up but would it help in inside BizTalk performance as well? or we'll have to batch the files in using adapter properties (i think it works on SFTP adapter) say take in 100 files every 30 seconds? Any other solution which
    can speed this up?
    Thanks
    Syed

    I was just reading this
Restrict the number files Picked up by BizTalk FTP Adapter msdn
    thread and it says
"Not possible, the Maximum Files setting only controls how BizTalk creates the message batch
to write them into SQL.  This also applies to the File adapters Number of messages in a batch"
So , you need to implement some kind of controller pattern in your solution to manage this floodgate.
    Have a read of
How to implement Concurrent FIFO Processing in BizTalk technet wiki article, this for FIFO but this may give some idea to write a controller.

  • BizTalk 2013 SFTP adapter not polling

    Hi,
I am trying to poll some files from an SFTP location. I have configured my SFTP Receive Location on the BizTalk Server 2013. However I do not see any polling happening.
I have a BizTalk Server 2006 R2 environment from where I have configured the polling from the same location (this is ofcourse stopped when using the BizTalk 2013). From here, the polling is happening fine (bLogical sftp adapter).
Can you please let me know if I am missing any other steps apart from the RL configuration.
    Regards,
    Ujjwal
    -Ujjwal

Though you have been using SFTP process with your BizTalk 2006 environment, your new BizTalk server may have new IP and new configurations. So ensure the SFTP server where
you’re trying to receive the files from allow this new server.
First try to use any SFTP client tools like
    FileZilla or
WinSCP and see whether you can connect to your SFTP server. This would help you to solve some of the access issues.
Ensure your IP (external IP) is not blocked by your SFTP server. If any firewall is involved between, check this firewall is not blocking the access.
Also ensure that values you give while configuring the Security section of the Receive Location is correct. Most of the issues around the SFTP adapter trying to receive the
files are Firewall issue,  Security properties configuration.
    Also check
this SFTP adapter article from TechNet Wiki for more help..
