Tabs in a simple document

I am trying to make a simple document that lists specific pieces of information. I want the information to appear such that I use some right tabs and some left tabs. I can set up the tabs just fine, but when entering the information as soon as I hit the return key my first tabbed information goes back to the left margin. How can I fix this? I have the most recent version of iWork '09 and am running System X Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Hi RetirementRules
Welcome to the Forum.
Select all the text and set your tabs.
The style should continue on if all you have done is hit return after the formatted text.
It sounds like you have actually jumped to another paragraph with different formatting, using the cursor keys or by simply clicking in a new location.
Learn how to format and create styles from the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf downloadable from under the Help menu.

  • "Create Simple document" from other objects

    Scenario: Creating a document using option "Create Simple document" from other objects
    I have created a document type and defined the object link for Functional Location with option "create simple document"
    When clicking on create icon on the additional data tab on IL02 screen, The system asks for the document type and then the file to be uploaded.
    The document type that i have defined has the Description filed as mandatory field and hence i am not able to create the document.
    However, for the Document type when i set the description field as not mandatory the system creates DIR. But this DIR has no description.
    Please let me know if there is a BADI, using which i could set the Functional location name as the description OR if there is some enhancement by which the user is asked to enter the description when creating the document.
    Warm Regards,
    Vivek Mohankumar

    Hi Vivek,
    After my tests I would like to inform you that this is
    the standard system behavior as the document description field is
    maintained as mandatory in transaction DC10. Please note that for the
    simple creation of documents this should not be set as a mandatory
    field.
    The creation mode can be defined in transaction DC10 for each object
    under 'Define object links'.
    Please note that the value "1" for the creation of documents is used
    to enable a user to simple attache a word file to an object
    without going to the transaction CV01n. Therefore the system behaviour
    is different then creating a document by CV01n and attaching a
    file to it. With simple creation mode there should not be any
    mandatory fields as the user cannot enter anything during the creation
    process.
    However, you can change the behaviour how the document is created by
    MM02 transaction if you change the customizing in transaction DC10
    like this:
    If you maintain the value "2" for creation of documents, the user is
    put to transaction CV01n and then the description can be entered. So
    maybe this would solve the issue.
    Regarding a useful BADI I can only recommned you to test BADI DOCUMENT_OBJ1,
    DOCUMENT_OBJ2 or DOCUMENT_MAIN01 for fill the description field.
    I hope this information could be useful for you and help to avoid the
    mentioned error message.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • How can I generate a multipage PDF of a tab in a Numbers document?

    I am using Numbers for iPad to write down meeting minutes and spread them as PDF documents.
    One Numbers document contains for one project for every meeting one tab with the minutes.
    Formerly Numbers generated for long tabs several pages. Like in the print dialogue. Now this
    isn't possibel anymore.
    Is there any way to generate a multipage PDF of a long tab in a Numbers document?

    Dear Spanky D. Rascal
    Yes I want to generate a PDF from the iPad. Formerly it was possible to generate a multipage PDF directly from Numbers with the "open in" dialogue. That was very easy eventhough it wasn't possible to choose just one tab for PDFing.
    I have several PDF / Printing Apps on the iPad like Quick Print, Printer Pro or PDF it All. I didn't succeed in creating a multipage PDF with one of these.
    On the Mac version it ist still possible to create multipage PDFs with the printing dialogue for instance. But
    I want to do it with the iPad.
    And finally: I am using version 2.1 (1129)

  • How to insert Tab Pages into a document

    I have a print job, where I need to insert tab pages into a document. Is there a tab template that I can insert into the Indesign document? If not, how can I create tab pages in Indesign?

    When I used to do tabs I would set up a page that was as wide as the tab sheet including the tab, then add text frames in each tab position.

  • Remove tab characters in Pages document

    I've searched this and found nothing. I imagine that's because I couldn't identify the right search criteria, and I assume what I want would be something quite simple. (Or maybe not?)
    So I've drafted a paper in my favourite mindmapping app, and exported the mindmap to a .txt file. When I open the latter in Pages (or any other text app, for that matter) I have a heap of paragraphs most of which have a first line indent of at least one tab-space - some as many as maybe five tab-spaces. What I want is to quickly reformat the whole thing so that every line of every paragraph is fully left-justified - i.e. all tab spaces removed.
    I know I can do that manually with 'Find-Replace > replace all', but what I'm hoping is that there's some applescript or automator action or something such that would mean I could do it with a couple of keystrokes.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

    Thanks again, Peter.
    Text Soap reminded me of a freeware version of the same thing which I've used before, but had forgotten about. It's called PlainClip, and I've just reinstalled it.
    But even better -
    Some fantastic guy on Macscripter has been so kind as to build me an applescript for Pages, that will replace the first starting tab in each paragraph with a return, and remove all starting spaces and all other starting tabs. I can run it with a single keyboard shortcut, and it takes about 2 seconds! I'm stoked
    Thanks for the help. I think I'm done.

  • How to list the active Alerts used within a tab(report) within a Document

    Hello
    We have a number of tabs/reports within a single webi document. There are a couple of alerts within the webi document but only one is used within a given tab/report.
    Is there an API around that will help me query the alerts that are enabled within each tab/report within a given document instance?
    There is an IReportProcessingInfo class that is around for it looks like its not applicable for Webi documents.

  • Importing a document from Word.  How do I change the tabs for the whole document?

    I am new to pages.  In importing a document from Word, the tabs are all messed.  The help topics work fine for adding/changing tabs... only it applies to a single line.  I cannot locate info on how to change the settings for the document.  Any help?

    d,
    A set of Tab stops applies to a Paragraph (not a line). A change in stops will apply to all paragraphs selected. A good way to make all your paragraph styles the same is to set up one paragraph the way you want it, then Format > Copy Paragraph Style. Then Select the entire document (Command-A) and Format > Paste Paragraph Style.
    Shortcuts for Copy Paragraph Style and Paste Paragraph Style are Shift-Command-C and Shift-Command-V.

  • Filling tab of an XML document created by DOM

    have a problem with filling tab of an XML file created by DOM
    I used this code to create the document:
    public class DOMCreation {
    public void createDOM( String a, String b ) {
              Document doc = new DocumentImpl( null );
              // Il codice che segue indipendente dal particolare parser utilizzato
              // Creazione dell'elemento root del documento, identificato dal tag <DOCUMENT>
              Element root = doc.createElement("DOCUMENT");
              doc.appendChild(root);
              // Creazione ed inserimento di un nodo
              Element element1 = doc.createElement("USERNAME");
              root.appendChild( element1 );
              // Creazione ed inserimento di un secondo nodo discendente di <DOCUMENT>
              root.appendChild( doc.createElement("PIN") );
    System.out.println( a );
    System.out.println( b );
              try {
                   serializeDocument( doc, new FileOutputStream("d:/doc.xml"));
              } catch (FileNotFoundException e) {}
    private static void serializeDocument(Document doc, OutputStream output) {
              try {
                   DOMSerializer ser = new XMLSerializer( output, null);
                   ser.serialize(doc);
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   System.err.println("I/O exception while serializing document: " + e.getMessage());
    }

    The code lines:
    System.out.println( a );
    System.out.println( b );
    had the purpose to check if these two parameters were passed by another procedure. These two parameters, however, represent the content to be filled in the tag of XML document created by DOM.
    About the other question on "what parser do you use", I'm using Apache's Xerces. However that's the "import" that I include in this procedure:
    import org.apache.xerces.dom.DocumentImpl;
    import org.apache.xerces.dom.NodeIteratorImpl;
    import org.apache.xml.serialize.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.traversal.*;
    import java.io.*;

  • Searching for simple document and picture viewer.

    Hello,
    I've looking for a viewer which supports all of the common picture formats, such as gif,jpeg,bmp and can also display all kind of office documents.
    If i look for viewer with these options, I all end up with great complicated client-webserver models. Can anyone tell me if there is a viewer which is used on the client-side (fat-client). A rather simple api which converts office-documents to images and maybe provide some simple imaging fuctionality such as zooming etc...
    Much thanks,
    Hugo

    I think this is not the forum for your query.
    However, as far as a viewer which supports all common picture formats
    you can purchase Adobe PhotoShop (ver 6.0 or above).
    I think Adobe Illustrator can display all kind of office documents, but
    I am not sure.
    Hope my reply will serve your purpose.

  • "Files" and other tabs not visible for document library after script editor webpart is added

    I created a document library and uploaded a few documents to ti.  On the ribbon, I could see both "Files" and "Library" tabs.  I then added a Script Editor webpart to this page because I needed to run some javascript on this
    page.  Now, when I go to that document library page (AllItems.aspx) then I don't see the Files and Library tab.  My guess is that this is because these tabs are context sensitive so they only appear when Sharepoint knows you're working with a document
    library and since now I have both the webpart that shows the document library and the Script editor webpart, that context is not there.  If I click somewhere on the page close to the actual list of documents, then the Files and Library tabs reappear since
    now Sharepoint knows that I'm working with a document library.  Is there any way aroudn this?  We don't want to have to ask our customer to click somewhere on the screen in order to get access to these tabs.  I'm not sure why Sharepoint would
    be confused by the Script editor webpart.  It is not visible so when the page is not in edit more, you can't even see that Script editor.  So, my question is: is there any way to:
    - either find some other way of using javascript on this page (maybe external javascript file with some link to it on the page?
    - or, some way to force the Fiels and Library tabs to be visible no matter what (i.e. despite having the Script editor webpart on the page).
    I also experienced this issue when I wanted to insert some customized text on the same page that had a document library.  For example, I created a document library and then on the AllItems.aspx page I inserted a content editor webpart so that I can
    show some text at the top.  That also caused the Files and Library tabs to disappear.
    thanks,

    Hi,
    I understand Files/Libraray tab disappear after you add web parts to a document library, once you click somewhere in library list, it will appear again.
    This is by design. As workaround, please try to use SharePoint Desginer to edit Allitems page of document library instead of using script web part.

  • My Site-Content Tab- None of the documents are displaying

    Hello,
    In the My Site content tab documents are not displaying. But when I click on the shared documents I can see all the documents can somebody help me on this.
    And in the content tab what documents it should display exactly.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that none of documents were displayed in the Shared Documents web part in My Content, but all documents were displayed when clicking the Shared Documents link in Quick Launch.
    The Shared Documents web part displays the documents in Shared Documents library.
    I recommend to check what is the view used in the Shared Documents web part and check if view has documents in it in the Shared Documents library.
    This issue may be due to the view in Shared Documents web part is not the same as the view when viewing the Shared Documents library.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Tab Thru Adobe Reader Documents

    Is there any way to set up the adobe reader so I can tab thru my documents instead of a new window opening up every time I open a new document?
    Now I  have a dozen or more windows open at one time and it is taking up my task bar not to mention it is hard finding my way thru all these documents.
    Thank you for your help!

    I don't think the preference option is there in windows reader. It is there only in Linux. I don't know why this is not implemented in windows.
    Because of this, practically I'm seeing only these solutions
    Install Foxit PDF Reader(Also we can create bookmarks in the document while viewing with this) or
    Install Google chrome and make it as the default pdf viewer. Then it will open the documents in tabs. Use chrome for this purpose only and use some other browser for Internet. I feel this is better because Chrome will re-open the last opened files and adobe will remember the last view of each file if enabled in preference.

    If I backspace it doesn't work -
    I must have hit something whilst typing... The document is a Pages document.
    Help please!

    Hi Jerry, Thanks for that - Checked the indent and it said 0.5. I made it 0 (as I needed no indent on the text) and the text I needed to be hard left adjusted correctly - at last!
    So I take it if I had set it to 1 it would have indented by 1 tab?
    Daren't try it in case it adjusts something else in the whole manuscript!
    Thanks again
    cbc,
    I was guessing at what you might have inadvertently done to indent the paragraph. Apparently I guessed wrong but put you on the right track to find your own solution. So much the better!
