"The version of the Player that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed" when installing 14.0.0.176

I've been deploying flash updates thru SCCM for a long time using the MSI.  With this update, many computers updated successfully, but about 200+ of them failed.  Each computer I have looked at has the message "Product: Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX -- The version of the Player that you are trying to install is lower than what is currently installed." in event viewer.  Attempting a manual install of the MSI produces a similar interactive message.  The current installed version is definitely older than the one I am attempting to install.  I am only able to re-mediate by manually uninstalling, and then installing 14.0.0.176.  I could script and deploy an uninstaller, but I would rather the bug with the MSI be fixed.

Dear María,
Finally, I have been able to reproduce the error, both in ActiveX and plugin installers updating from version 15.0.0.246.
Here you have the logs:

    That's a good question. I may have installed FP 10.1 Beta in many of the attempts to resolve the issue. I've scanned my registry for any reference to Flash and removed anything that remotely resembles Flash Player (of course backing up Registry first). I've run uninstall_flash_player.exe, which doesn't appear to do anything. I've checked logs and there's no reference to Flash Player being installed.
    When I go to the link provided ( http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) I get the messageThe version of Adobe® Flash® Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version. and when I look at the log (install.log) I see an attempt to install Flash Player. I programmed a set of quizzes in Director 8.0 for one of my courses about ten years ago and have been updating them since. And, yes, I did purchased 11.5, but can't use it because I can't use printing w POM or a number of other extras anymore. My semester is about to start and Adobe has updated the Shockwave player in Windows over the summer (I think?) causing my quizzes to not work in a web browser. I am getting this message and can't figure out what is causing it:
    The page that you are trying to open contains a movie that is referenced to an incorrect version of the Shockwave player.
    I have been working on this for a day and a half and am stumped. I made two apps in 11.5 for WIndows .exe and Mac .app that partially work, but can't get the quizzes to work in Firefox 13 or IE 9. I searched the web and could not find anything useful.  I found a message in this forum from back in 2009 where someone had a similar problem and Sean WIlson said to add a parameter that specifed Player version =11, but that was back in 2009. I tried that PARAM and still get the error. I tried updating the quiz menu .dcr on the web to 11.5, but that didn't work. With all of the updates lately to browsers, the Shockwave plug-in, and Director 11.5, I don't know what is generating the error.  I am assuming its Shockwave player doesn't like something, but have no idea what this movie reference to an incorrect version of Shockwave player is referring to.  We're up to player 11.6 now.  Do we have to include this in the embed statement or is there something else that is causing this error?  Please help, thanks!
    Edit: Oddly, the quizzes are still working on a MacBook Pro using Firefox 13.0.1.  I don't know what the Shockwave Player version is. On the Windows 7 side of this MacBook running bootcamp, it was running Shockwave Player 11.6.4. I thought maybe I should uninstall it and install the latest 11.6.6, which I did. The latest version of Shockwave made no difference on Windows 7.  I also tried to run the quizzes on an HP laptop running Windows Vista, Firefox 14.0.1 and Shockwave Player 11.6 installed back Jan 2012 accoridng to the Control Panel.  Same error message.  Tried it using IE 8, which just seemed to do a Shockwave update - no problem the quizzes run.

    Send me a Private Message and I'll provide an email address where you could send your DCR and HTML and I'll see if I can help.

  • The version that you are trying to install is not the most current version

    I have multiple snapshots of this one. I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on a Windows7 64bit machine from adobe.com. I keep getting the following error:
    The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit (adobewebsite) to obtain the latest, most secure version.
    This is the message that I am getting from Adobe.com website!
    I tried uninstalling multiple times + reinstalling, same error. I tried offline installing, same error (is not the most current version).
    Help?

    Hi, It may be helpful if you read over this troubleshooting guide by Adobe.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
    If you decide to Uninstall and Install again, I would use the "executable" which you can download to your Desktop.
    Have you previously installed any beta version? I'm sure you know you need to use the 32bit browser since Flash Player
    is not supported on the 64bit.
    The Anti-Virus/Firewall, Security Settings for IE, Permission requirement are important. Also the necessity of Rebooting twice after the Uninstall for IE, to make sure old files are removed.
    If you have any questions, just post back.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

    I tried to upgrade iTunes version 10.6.1. But the following appears "The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing package iTunes.msi". Can someone tell me how to resolve this?

    "The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing package iTunes.msi".
    Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • SQL ENTERPRISE: The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database

    The error below makes absolutely no sense! I'm using Enterprise Core...yet I'm being told I can't use remote data sources:
    w3wp!library!8!03/05/2015-19:08:48:: i INFO: Catalog SQL Server Edition = EnterpriseCore
    w3wp!library!8!03/05/2015-19:08:48:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.OperationNotSupportedException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.OperationNotSupportedException: The feature: "The edition of Reporting
    Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.;
    Really? This totally contradicts the documentation found here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms157285(v=sql.110).aspx
    That article says remote connections are completely supported.
    ARGH! Why does this have to be so difficult to setup?!?

    Hi jeffoliver1000,
    According to your description, you are using Enterprise Core edition and you are prompted that you can’t use remote data sources.
    In your scenario, we neither ignore your point nor be doubt with what you say. But actually we have met the case before that even though the SQL Server engine is Enterprise but the reporting services is still standard. So I would recommend you to find the
    actual edition of reporting services you are using. You can find Reporting Services starting SKU in the Reporting Service logs ( default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<instance name>\Reporting Services\LogFiles). For more information,
    please refer to the similar thread below:

    By the way, have you installed the other SQL Server edition before?

    Hello all,

    while creating datasource in Reportserver which has Express installed ..
    got this error ..
    please help me how to connect to remote server
    Dilip Patil..

    Error message says it all.
    With SQL Express, Data source should be local SQL DB.
    With SQL Enterprise, Standard, BI edition, you can create Data soruce which are hosted on other servers.

    Hi senthur,
    I don't know your exact requirement and Why you are making Lov programtically. It's quite tough for new bie.
    What I can advise you that Create a New Lov in Jdev [Only Lov] and attach this Lov to any page with the help of personalization.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to change the version of Flash Player that Adobe Reader 9 uses?

    I'm currently attempting to put some flash content within a pdf using the new Rich Media extensions.  I have a working Flash .swf  that uses some of the newer methods that only Flash Player 10 supports.  The file can run on its own within Flash Player 10, but inside Adobe Reader 9 the flash player version is set to WIN 9,0,159,0 and the .swf file does not work.  Is there any way to change the version of the Flash Player used in Adobe Reader 9?

    Try code like this:
    <pre><nowiki>#window-controls .toolbarbutton-icon {
    width: 25px !important;
    height: 25px !important;
    </nowiki></pre>
    The three buttons have these IDs:
    <pre><nowiki>#minimize-button
    #restore-button
    #close-button</nowiki></pre>

    If you choose the latter follow these instructions: iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
