Time Distribution in a Transformation

I'm trying to distribute from calmonth to calday in a BI transformation based on the factory calendar.  I used to do this in an update rule in BW.
I don't see a date function for it in the formula options.
Thanks!
Tim

Hi Tim,
the time distribution can be done update rule
- in update method
- click on 0calmonth
- select source as "time distribution"
- map 0calday and select a factory calendar
Hope it helps.

  • ZU01 - reposnse time distribution  - metrology reporting question

    Hello,
The data I have is from ZU01 tx, I select the month of October, than reposnse time distribution, I select the period type ( month ) and I see there fileds:
    %WOGUI < 3s
    %WOGUI < 5s
I have percentage for both 98,1% which is under the threshold 99,00%.
Can you please let me know what does this mean for the system ? Is it dangerous ? Is there anything I can do to be over 99% ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi
It is not related directlly to PI, but on anything. Can you please advise where can I move it ?

  • No split for particular key figure while "Time Distribution in Update Rule"

    Hi experts,
I wanted to have data in the infocube at day level. Currently it has only week level data. So I used "Time Distribution in Update Rule". Due to this am able to split 0Calweek data at 0calday.
But while using   "Time Distribution in Update Rule" all key figures are getting split by same way. For e.g. key fig1 has week level data as 100. so after getting split in calday, it is apperaring as (100/7) 14.285 . for every day.
But i dont want to happen this split for every key figure. For some key figures value "100" should be as it for every field in calday. for e.g. 100 should not get divided by 7 and posted as 100 only for all seven days.
How can i achieve this? Is it possible if i write formula or routine for particular key figure so that split should not take place for that particular kay figure? Or is there any other to keep exception?
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This is one of the limitation of Time Distribution that you can not have it by individual key figure. Check the below article for more information,
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0e1096a-e058-2c10-06b7-c66f9a82a9c8?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true]
I think in this case you will have to write individual routine for each key figure instead of Time Distribution approach.

  • Problem with Assemble Test VIs for Run-Time Distribution

I get an error that a file is already in memory and that I will have to remove it before I can build the application. The file in question is Get File System Seperator.vi. It lives in vi.lib\Utility\sysinfo.llb. If it is not a stock vi from national and was placed there by some other add on tools (perhaps an OpenG toolkit), how can I disable it? Labview itself will not boot without this sysinfo.llb.
I am using TestStand Engine 2.01 on the XP system and 2.01f1 on win2000 with the same results. I am not using numerical limits so the fix (patch) for multiple numerical limits does not seem to be needed.

    Hi Paul,
In the description of your problem you state that "I will have to remove it before I can build the application". I was wondering if you could elaborate on the scenario you are describing because this is a little bit confusing to me as it is. The "Assemble Test VIs for Run-Time Distribution" tool in the Sequence Editor does not involve "building an application" as part of the process of using it. When you select the menu option for this tool, a TestStand sequence is invoked that has a few LV VI steps in it which perform the VI Assembly process, with no application building involved (just searching through sequences for top-level vis, their sub-vis, and copying them all into a directory you choose). I hope this describes what it is I'm not understanding about your statement, but to explain why it is that I feel this is important is in order to reproduce the problem I need to know exactly what it is you are doing at the time of encountering the problem. To go over a common set of issues people encounter when they use this tool, I would like to see if you have tried the following:
    1) Have you checked to make sure that the LabVIEW Standard Prototype Adapter is configured to use the LabVIEW development environment as its Run-Time Server before running the tool. It will not work if the adapter is set to use TestStand LVRTS or TestStandGUILVRTS. The assembly tool requires features of the full LV IDE to perform the functions it carries out, and you will get an error if the adapter is configured improperly. To check this out, go to Configure >> Adapters..., select the LV Adapter in the listbox, then click the Configure button. In the second dialog, change the run-time server option to "LabVIEW".
    2) Are you actually trying to build the Assemble Test VIs for Runtime Distribution tool into an application? (This is not an intended use of the tool's VIs).
    3) Before running the assembly tool, have you tried using the Sequence Editor's File >> Unload All Modules option?
Let me know if you have tried the above things or if you are doing any of the "unintended" things with the tool so I can get a better grasp of when it is you are seeing the problem. Again, the goal would be for us to reproduce it.

  • Imposible to set a time dependency at a transformation

    Hi!
I'm in trouble with a transformation (BW 7.0). I'm trying to fill a key figure reading master data from a characteristic. The key figure is an atribute of that characteristic, and it's time dependent. But when I define the rule in the transformation I cannot select any time characteristic to set the dependency.
    Thanks!
    Jose

    Jose,
As far as I understand you are trying to use the "Read Master Data" option with Time dependency that was available in the Update Rules.
If that's correct, here are the steps:
Eg: Assume 1. 0REGION is a time dependent attribut of 0CUSTOMER.
    2. Data Src fields: KUNNR, DATE
    3. Cube: 0CUSTOMER, 0CALDAY, 0REGION
    Your transformation should look like:
    KUNNR=0CUSTOMER
    DATE=0CALDAT
For 0REGION click to create the mapping:
Choose Rule Type = "Read Master Data"
In the "Source fields of Rule":
Add the fields KUNNR & DATE using the "+" button.
In the IO Assignment column, enter 0CUSTOMER & 0CALDAY and hit Enter.
Now in the "Source Info Object" field to the rt of Rule Type, select 0Customer using F4 help. Since it is time dependent on 0CUSTOMER, the clock icon will appear. Click on the clock button and select 0CALDAY from the F4 help.
It should work. Has worked for me (Data src to ICube directly)
For ODS use the export data source.
If it still doesn't work there are 2 more options:
    1. Write a small routine/formula to read the values (as Ingrid had suggested). OR
    2. Use it as a Nav Attribute (if the Attribute is a Characteristic) or as a Disp Attr (if the Attribute is a Key Fig). Then use the Key date of the query to calculate time dependency.
(By default key date = Syst date; if you need custom date, use variable exit)
That's all I can think of.
    Hope it helps.

  • Fact table is getting flooded

while loading 0FIAR_C03 its been observed that fact table is getting n times records
    eg:
    Transfered request: 969
    Added Request: 29482
    Data modeling as follow:
    0FI_AR_4 -> 0FIAR_O03 -> 0FIAR_C03
till ods its fine but after that ......
when I checked fact table I found time dim_id is having multiple values because of that we are getting same set of fact data again and again for same dim_ids
when I checked update rule of cube then I observed 0CALDAY 0CALMONTH and 0CALYEAR are mapped with 0FISCPER using time distribution
so my question here is what is the function of time distribution ???
is that related to my issue???
Edited by: Alok Kashyap on Mar 4, 2009 9:28 AM

    Hi Alok,
    To answer some questions:
    (A) Time Distribution Usage: Review "Time Update" Rule Type on SAP Help Portal (Data ware housing) NW04s version.
Main Point = " All the key figures that can be added are split into correspondingly smaller units of time"
    "Time Update:
When performing a time update, automatic time conversion and time distribution are available.
Direct Update: the system automatically performs a time conversion.
    Time Conversion:
You can update source time characteristics to target time characteristics using automatic time conversion. This function is not available for DataStore objects, since time characteristics are treated as normal data fields.
    Time Distribution:
You can update time characteristics with time distribution. All the key figures that can be added are split into correspondingly smaller units of time. If the source contains a time characteristic (such as 0CALMONTH) that is not as precise as a time characteristic of the target (such as 0CALWEEK), you can combine these characteristics with one another in the rule. The system then performs time distribution in the transformation.
For example, you break down the calendar month 07.2001 into the weeks 26.2001, 27.2001, 28.2001, 29.2001, 30.2001 and 31.2001. Each key figure that can be added receives 1/31 of the original value for week 26.2001, 7/31 for each of weeks 27, 28, 29, and 30, and exactly 2/31 of it for week 31."
    (B) Yes, it (time distribution) is "indirectly" adding extra rows into your fact table since " All the key figures that can be added are split into correspondingly smaller units of time" so you are getting more numerous distinct values of different DIM_ID values.
    (C) Whether Time Distribution is Causing Extra Rows into the Fact table:
The 0BCT* Std Content of 0FIAR_C03 only contains 0Fiscper (Fiscal Year/Period) and of course 0Fiscvarnt (Fiscal year variant) time characteristics in the cube data model...The underlying infosource 0FI_AR_4 also has only 0Fiscper time characteristic.
So suspect someone at your site has tinkered with the 0BCT*  0FIAR_C03 datamodel to introduce more time characteristics...Please refer to the documentation or project deployment notes at your site since there may have been specific project requirements to do so. The project deliverables and the suspect person may be more the root cause...
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Lee

  • Give me details about rule details functions conversion, currency etc in bi

give me details about rule details functions conversion, currency etc in bi  when creating transformation

    Rule Type
    Use
The rule type determines whether and how a characteristic or key figure, or a data field or key field is updated into the target.
    Direct Assignment:
The field is filled directly from the selected source InfoObject. If the system does not propose a source InfoObject, you can assign a source InfoObject of the same type (amount, number, integer, quantity, float, time) or you can create a routine.
If you assign a source InfoObject to a target InfoObject that has the same type but a different currency, you have to translate the source currency into the target currency using a currency translation, or apply the source currency.
If you assign a source InfoObject to a target InfoObject that has the same type but a different unit of measure, you have to convert the source unit of measure into the target unit of measure using a unit of measure conversion, or apply the unit of measure from the source.
    Constant:
The field is not filled by the InfoObject; it is filled directly with the value specified.
    Formula:
The InfoObject is updated with a value determined using a formula.
    Read Master Data:
The InfoObject is updated by reading the master data table of a characteristic that is included in the source with a key and a value and that contains the corresponding InfoObject as an attribute. The attributes and their values are read using the key and are then returned.
The Financial Management Area characteristic is included in the target but does not exist in the source as a characteristic. However, the source contains a characteristic (cost center, for example) that has the Financial Management Area characteristic as an attribute. You can read the Financial Management Area attribute from the master data table and use it to fill the Financial Management Area characteristic in the target.
It is not possible to read recursively, that is, to read additional attributes for the attribute. To do this, you have to use routines.
If you have changed master data, you have to execute the change run. By reading the master data, the active version is read. If this is not available, an error occurs.
If the attribute is time dependent, you also have to define when it should be read: at the current date (sy-date), at the beginning or end of a period (defined by a time characteristic in the InfoSource), or at a constant date that you enter directly. Sy-date is used as the default.
    Routine:
The field is filled by the transformation routine you have written.
The system allows you to select whether the routine is to be valid for all attributes for this characteristic, or only for the attributes displayed.
Transformation rules generally only have one return value. If you select Return Table, the corresponding key figure routine no longer has a return value; it has a return table. You can then generate any number of values from a data record.
For DataStore objects and InfoObjects: you cannot use the return code in the routine for data fields that are updated by being overwritten. If you do not want to update specific records, you can delete these from the start routine.
If, for the same characteristic, you generate different rules for different key figures or data fields, a separate data record can be created for each key figure from a data record of the source.
With InfoCubes: You can also select Routine with Unit. The return parameter 'UNIT' is then also added to the routine. You can store the required unit of the key figure, such as 'ST', in this parameter. You can use this option, for example, to convert the unit KG in the source, into tons in the target.
If you fill the target key figure from a transformation routine, currency translation has to be performed using the transformation routine. This means that automatic calculation is not possible.
    Time Update:
When performing a time update, automatic time conversion and time distribution are available.
Direct Update: the system automatically performs a time conversion.
    Time Conversion:
You can update source time characteristics to target time characteristics using automatic time conversion. This function is not available for DataStore objects, since time characteristics are treated as normal data fields. The system only displays the time characteristics for which an automatic time conversion routine exists.
The time distribution is always applied to all key figures.
    Initial:
The field is not filled. It remains empty.
    No Transformation:
The key figures are not written to the InfoProvider.
Unit of Measure Conversion and Currency Translation
You can convert data records into the unit of measure or currency in the target transformation.
Assigning InfoObjects for Converting Amounts or Currencies
    Use
An InfoObject has to be assigned to a source field of a DataSource if currencies or units of measure need to be converted. The translation types require InfoObjects as input fields to carry out a conversion. You therefore have to assign the appropriate InfoObject to the source field.
If the target has a fixed unit, you only have to assign an InfoObject if you want to carry out a conversion. Otherwise, you can select the No Conversion option.
    Procedure
    1.      You are in the rule details. Select the rule type Direct Assignment.
    2.      Select an appropriate key figure in the InfoObject Assignment field in the Source Fields of Rule area.
    3.      Choose the required conversion in the Currency field.
    4.      Choose Transfer Values.
    Example
In your transformation, you want to assign the AMOUNT field of the DataSource to the FIX_EUR InfoObject in your target, carrying out a currency conversion. To do so, you assign the FIX_EUR InfoObject to the AMOUNT field in the rule details so that the currency can be read from the InfoObject.
    Hope this helps u...

    KK.

  • Free Transform multiple layers at the same time (only selected part)

    Hi,
i have two layers - one contains color and second one contains outline. I want to select a part of the image and free transform both the layers at the same time. (so when i for example move or rotate the selected part of my example, both the color and outline moves at the same time). Layers must stay separated, process must be sort of quick, i would love to use this all the time when drawing etc.
    - Only way i managed to make this somewhat happen was to select the desired part of the image -> save the selection -> new layer via copy (on first layer) -> reselect the saved selection -> new layer via copy (on the second layer) -> select both of the new layers -> free transform. Warp doesnt work but other transforms do. But still this process is too slow and distracting even when having all the required commands hotkeyed. Is there a faster way?
    Any tips are welcome!

    @Trevor.Dennis
i did understand, but as i said ctrl clicking the new layer only selects visible pixels in it, and my layers dont cover the whole canvas, especially not the outline layer, so ctrl click will only select that noodle of pixels and thats not usable in the other layer. (doing selection in the other layer first isnt a solution)
Better description of what exactly im after:
im manually drawing characters and i keep the their black "ink" lines/outlines on separate layer from the color layer. From time to time i want to transform small part of the character, lets say warp or rotate just its leg to fix or iterate, but i want to transform both the outline and color layer at the same time with that rotation so i see realtime how it looks. I would use this all the time if it was doable quickly. Transforms and puppetwarp are so powerful when drawing that as last resort i will have to switch to drawing everything on single layer.

  • Transform activity is taking a lot of time

    Hi All,
I have a process that gets data from a file and insert it into a DB.
I'm using a transformation activity between the file & DB adapters.
When tranform few records I hva eno problem. When transforming 30,000 records it takes about 25 minutes, and it's a lot.
Some one maybe knows what can be the reson???
The data is very simple(string/numbers). With another tool it takes few sec'
    Thanks
    Riko

Hiii Riko, I don't know the exact solution to your problem. Some of my thoughts on your issue here.
I too have production server and I must say 25 mins for 30k records is a reasonable time considering it logs the instance processes/records in the DB in background.
The transformation in SOA Suite takes a lot of time as while doing transformation it keeps the whole payload (which consists of 30K records in memory/RAM). As it is obvious that it would be transforming one record at a time, but keeping all records in memory for their processing.
If your requirement is only routing and transformation why don't you go for an ESB. I suggest that you use Oracle Service Bus for that. It doesn't keep the whole payload in memory and execution would be much faster. Still it would not be in few seconds( I dont know which tool you are testing with).
If you are going to have many transactions where you need to pass 30-50K records frequently and many a times in a day I suggest you go with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).

  • Transformation rule routine to split a record into several

    Dear Experts
I have a small requirement but I am not good in programs.
I have a DSO with data at year level.
I want to transfer this data to a second DSO but split the yearly data into Quarters evenly  by copying the source KF value (PRICE) into the Quarters where each quarter value equals the yearly value of the first DSO.
This is because the KF value is valid for the whole year. Thus, I need to copy this value into each quarter.
So, I have an Additional field in the 2nd DSO for the Quarter.
I have mapped the fields in the transformation but not sure how to write the Rule routine to for this additional field in the 2nd DSO.
Is this possible using a Routine Rule?  Or must use an Start routine?
    Source: FY2010  KF $100
    Target DSO :
    FY 2010   QTR1 KF $100
    FY 2010   QTR2 KF $100
    FY 2010   QTR3 KF $100
    FY 2010   QTR4 KF $100
Please point me to a suitable routine or kindly give me some code structure to follow.
    Thank you very much.

  • Message expiry time in JavaMessageQueueSeries 3.5 SP1

    Hi,
We are using JavaMessageQueueSeries 3.5 SP1. In durable subscribers(Topic), is there anyway to set the messages expiration time. As of now the messages are there in all along. If it is not consumed by any of the consumers. Everytime we are removing manually.
Please give the idea how to set message expiration time.
    thanks.

    hi Jacques
    Two proposals :
One based on the generated TRFN and the other Newly built.
So try to somehow copy the flow in 3.X format in your BW7 system and genereted the transformation to see if the mapping is properly reflected.
Otherwise create the flow from scratch and try to build the conversion according to what you can read/see in the post above there is a link to the help.sap saying the time conversion is done automatically.
if you do not succeed then have a closer look to notes
Note 1458197 - Time distribution for InfoSource with key: Gen. error
    and
Note 1052648 - Migrating transfer rules and update rules for BW7.x
it seems that time distribution with reference to the factory calendar is currently not supported in the transformation. (see last paragraph)
If that does not work in your place i would recommend if the conversion to factory calendar is really needed to let this specific flow in 3.x till SAP provides solution meanwhile open a message with SAP to see the outcomes.
hope this could help you out in solving your issue.

  • Diffence between time conversion and time broadcasting

what is the diffence between time conversion and time broadcasting

Time conversions: You can update source time characteristics to target time characteristics using automatic time conversion. This function is not available for DataStore objects, since time characteristics are treated as normal data fields. The system only presents you with the time characteristics for which an automatic time conversion routine exists.
Time distribution: You can update time characteristics with time broadcasting. All the key figures that can be added are split into correspondingly smaller units of time. If the source contains a time characteristic (such as 0CALMONTH) that is not as precise as a time characteristic of the target (such as 0CALWEEK), you can combine these characteristics in the rule. The system performs time broadcasting in the transformation. Time broadcasting always applies to all key figures.

  • Generate numbers in incremental order, the number of times condition met?

I have tried explaining my problem here also.
    http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=31&t=007531&p=1
But trying to put in other words now.
I have a NO tag which appears many times in xml. and alwyas have some random numbers displaying.
output looks something similar to this
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something......<NO>2</NO>
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something......<NO>3</NO>
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something......<NO>5</NO>
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something......<NO>1</NO>
    something...... & so on.
Now instead of these numbers coming in this order i prefer to display in final output file as
    1 2 3 4 5 .................... n
Is it possible in any ways using xslt.
DO we need to ignore the values given in input file and then generate output values for same.
it can be like the number of times NO tag appears in xml, it should start from 1 and keep increasing value by 1, until NO tag finishes appearance.
But next time when other xml transforms it again should be able to start from 1 till n.
is there a possibility of using java code for this situation or xslt is capaable enough to handle this.
    Thanks
    VJ

I'm guessing you are looking for something like this. I used a pull approach but it could be done with a push (xsl:for-each).
    Sample XML
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <root>
         <NO>1</NO>
         <NO>1</NO>
         <NO>2</NO>
         <NO>1</NO>
         <NO>3</NO>
         <NO>1</NO>
         <NO>5</NO>
         <NO>1</NO>
         <NO>1</NO>
    </root>
    Sample XSLT
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
         <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" omit-xml-declaration="yes" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/>
         <xsl:template match="root">
              <output>

  • How to Map N number of  columns from input to output schemas at a time?

    Hi,
I am new to BODI. In my project we are using DAT files, which contains more than 100 columns, as Source. At the Data Flow Level, in Query Transformation we are manually mapping columns from INPUT Schema to OUTPUT Schema one by one.
Is there any way to MAP all the columns at a time from INPUT schema to OUTPUT schema.
Hope I am clear with my question.
    Thanks for your support.

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer. It's really helpul.
But in my case, Source Filed names and Target Field names are different. As we know, OUTPUT column names should be same as Target Field names.
I am just wondering is there any option to MAP columns between INPUT schema and OUTPUT Schema at a time, like Informatica.
In Informatica you can MAP all the columns at a time between any 2 Transformation by using their port order, even though the Filed names are different .
Do we have any option like this in BODI?
    Regards,
    Sudhakar
