UIX/XML: tables and rowHeaders
I'm trying to add a deletebutton in the rowHeader of a table. In order to transmit the rowIndex of the selected item, I need to dataBind the onClick attribute. Is there any way to dataBind a roHeader to the same dataObject as the tableContents?

The simplest thing to do is just use the same databinding for
rowHeaderData and tableData:

Link between XML table and a resource
I have registered an XML Schema in Oracle and the tables were automatically generated. I can access the data in these tables via "SELECT extractValue(value(i),'/factureExterne/codeTypeFacturation')
FROM <xml_table> i". I use WebDAV + ftp to upload my XML-files.
How can I retrieve the name of the file in the WebDAV folder that corresponds with the row in my table?

I found a way to get de conexion using the undocumented funcion sys_op_r2o.
sys_op_r2o transforms an XMLRef to the object_id of the target row, then its possible to join the XML Schema based table to the resource_view or path_view information.
The XDB$RESOURCE, store an XMLRef to the target row of the table and is available using extractValue(res,'/Resource/XMLRef') function.
Here the example:
SELECT r.path,extractValue(value(i),'/factureExterne/codeTypeFacturation')
FROM <xml_table> i,path_view r
where ref(i)=extractValue(res,'/Resource/XMLRef');

UIX/XML tables in tables in tables in .....
Hi!
An interesting question for the JDev team:
I'm trying to create a uix table with detailDisclosure and I added another table in the detail section of this table. But somehow this didn't work as I had hoped. I added a header to the detailSection and added a table to this header.
However this doesn't render very well - the first column of the rows below the undisclosed element of the outer table is rendered much too wide and the inner table doesn't display any data.
Just to make sure before I continue to try it out: Is this supposed to work at all?
I think this would be a really cool feature as it would allow displaying hierarchical data in tables and this is something I need to do.

GuidoBy accident I tried creating a table in the detail section of a table, and lo and behold it works with the 9.0.3 Preview version.
Is this supposed to stay that way - I mean can I rely on this feature working the future versions as well? I think it looks quite nice and makes sense in some cases.

i have EO with RowID column..The new "Create" has also another issues - I am not able to use getCurrentRow in ViewObject. Workaround is to use old 40 behaviour but I think that such big change should be much more documented and because developer sometimes needs to use the 40 behaviour it should be shown in the DataControl. Any comments?

UIX-XML BC4J - Unexpected errors using paths and DeltaTree on a particular UIX page
We are using a PageDescription to dynamically change a UIX tree using the DeltaTree technique described in the Dynamic Structure for For UIX Pages chapter of the UIX Developers Guide.
We search for a particular node using PathUtils.FindPathWithNodeID(RenderingContext context, UINode from, java.lang.String nodeID), but this fails when the page contains nested ViewObjectScopes.
The method throws a NullPointerException, and the render fails:

This usage of nested view object scopes has been explained in reply of a previous post, How to databind the children of a UIX XML choice, and before ours attempts to modify the tree it worked fine. Removing the nested view object scope the page makes the page render correctly, but we need it to retrieve the description of its state.
We get the same behaviour (and a much similar stack trace, with the same oracle.cabo.ui.data.DataObjectList oracle.cabo.ui.collection.DataObjectListNodeList.getDataObjectList (oracle.cabo.ui.RenderingContext) throwing a NullPointerException) if we use NodeUtils.createPreorderDescendentAttributeEnumeration method instead of PathUtils.It's a bug in the DataObjectListNodeList class that's up at the top of
the stack. It's been fixed for 9.0.3. The bit of XML that's triggering
it isn't the <viewObjectScope>s, but the "data:childData".
I believe you can workaround this bug by not passing a null RenderingContext to
findPathWithNodeID(). Now, you don't have a real RenderingContext, and we
don't especially need one - "null" is legit here, but I think if
you just pass "new oracle.cabo.ui.RootRenderingContext()" then you'll
get around this bug. -

Could you help me a bit? I've got an XML schema (.xsd) and a corresponding XML document (.xml) file. I've registered the schema with Oracle XDB and loaded the XML document into XDB Repository using the object-relational storage technique. Fine--I can access it from SQL and PL/SQL using XPath. However, this is to be an integral part of a Java EE application, where I must be able to read specific fragments and nodes from my XML table and use the values in my Java classes for computations and to display them in different views. How to preceed? Which technology should I choose to map the table to classes?
In Toplink, I can unmarshal the document but since it is very big, this is no good practice to keep all data in memory. It should behave like an ordinary lookup table (as it is indeed).
Please state if you have an idea.

"Normal" for me is an application with lists of element (editable, sortable), master-detail-detail, upload and display of object (image, Word doc, PDF, . . .), trees with items from db, use of personalized templates. -
UIX XML BC4J Calling custom and framework methods
We are developing an application using BC4J and UIX XML.
We would like to define field attributes, such as date formatting and labels, at business component-level, but those properties are bound to a locale setting. We do not want to duplicate this kind of settings for each end-user locale, whats the best way to obtain that? And UIX BC4J extension tags, like tables and region in automatic mode, will automatically use those settings?
In BC4J components we can define custom methods to perform further processing, using UIX XML can we access those and other framework-provided interfaces, and how?automatic mode is just for quick demos. You cannot internationalize your application while using automatic mode.
You will need to turn off automatic mode, and have bc4j:column beans in your table and databind the data to come from your resource bundles. -

Long time ago, I manually created a Database (APGriMMRP) and 3 Tables (dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates, dbo.Table_2_Soil, and dbo.Table_3_Water) in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012). The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates has the following columns: file_id,

Problem #4: I plan to extract some results/data from the Parent Table and the Child Table by using XQuery. What kind of JOIN (Left or Right JOIN) should I use in the XQuerying?

Scott ChangIn the future, I would recommend you to post your questions one by one, and to the appropriate forum. Of your questions it is really only #3 that fits into this forum. (And that is the one I will not answer, because I have worked very little with XSD.)
1) Not sure what you mean with "print" or "export", but when you right-click a database, you can select Tasks from the context menu and in this submenu you find "Export data".
2) I don't know why you get that error, but any particular reason you want to run PowerShell?
4) If you have tables, you query them with SQL, not XQuery. XQuery is when you query XML documents, but left and right joins are SQL things. There are no joins in XQuery.
As for left/right join, notice that these two are equivalent:
SELECT ...
FROM a LEFT JOIN b ON a.col = b.col
SELECT ...
FROM b RIGHT JOIN a ON a.col = b.col
But please never use RIGHT JOIN - it gives me a headache!
There is nothing that says that you should use any of the other. In fact, if you are returning rows from parent and child, I would expect an inner join, unless you want to cater for parents without children.
Here is an example where you can study the different join types and how they behave:

Retrieving data from a relational table and CLOB as a whole XML file
I created the table lob_example and I have managed to insert XML document into it using XML SQL Utility. In this document I put contents of <DESCRIPTION> tag into CDATA section.

But I could not retrieve this data properly. I can think of only one solution - to parse and build the whole XMLDocument. I found the suggestion of another solution to use Oracle8i views to do that in http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/infoocs/otnwp/about_oracle_xml_products.htm, but this text is not clear enough for me.
I would like to quote the fragment from document mentioned above, which is ambiguous for me:
"Combining XML Documents and Data Using Views
Finally, if you have a combination of structured and unstructured XML data, but still want to view and operate on it as a whole, you can use Oracle8i views. Views enable you to construct an object on the "fly" by combining XML data stored in a variety of ways. So, you can store structured data (such as employee data, customer data, and so on) in one location within object -relational tables, and store related unstructured data (such as descriptions and comments) within a CLOB. Reading from XML file and updating the table ????

I have package which reads the hier.XML file and does Update inserts into the 5 tables
i have table called MAIN_tbl with the column cur_date.
The package kicks if this cur_date is one day less than the hier.XML file DT.
Currently i m manually checking this date's to make sure the Main_tbl cur_date is n sync with
hier.XML file DT.
for example :- hier.xml file DT is "20091020" then main_table cur_date should be 10/19/2009
in order to kicks of the pakage.
what i m looking to do ??
compare the hier.xml DT with the main_table cur_date,
if cur_date is -1(Preivous day) of hier.xml DT then run hier_pkg(Package)
if not then update main_table cur_date to -1(previous day) of the hier.xml DATE
Then later write the above logic to update the main_table in a procedure, and
then call the package from the procedure.
below are the top few lines of the hier.XML file which is relevant to the one which we are trying to do

So i created master table and placed detail table into master table cell.

How to parse XML Column and insert values into a table

I am working on a simple project to demonstrate how to load and extract XML using SQL, I have already made a table that contains a column of XMLTYPE and loaded an XML file into it (code below)

I now however need to get the XML data back out of that and loaded into a new table. Troubleshooting guides I have read online seem to only be dealing with parsing an external XML document and loading it into a table, and not what I need to do which is parse a column of XML data and load that into a table. The project trivial with simple tables containing only 3 columns.
The table that needs to be loaded is as follows:
create table InventoryOut(PartNumber Number(10), QTY Number(10), WhLocation varchar2(500));
The XML document is as follows:

Attached is the code, there seems to be an issue with referencing the other table, Inventory.Inv, I checked and that table and the Inv column are showing up in the database so I am not sure why it is having issues locating them, take a look at the code I wrote as well as the output (*I included the real version number for you this time :)

I think is where I am messing it up, perhaps not understanding fully what is going on, as you write "Inventory inve" and "inve.Inv" ---- Is inve a keyword that I am just not familiar with? I think this is where the issues lies in my code.

I have one table that table contains one column that column contain an XML file
I want to extract data from that XML file and want to store that extracted data into an other table.
That xml file has different different values
I want to store that values into table in diff diff columnsHi,
I am also facing the same problem.I have a .xml file and i need to import the data into the custom table in oracle database.
