VB Windows Forms Application Aero
Hi everyone, for quite some time I've avoided using aero forms whilst developing in VB. This is because I've been unable to find working code that allows me to utilize aero capabilities and standard Windows Forms controls at the same time. The issue I'm
having is that any text becomes totally transparent as seen below.
However in the designer view the text colour is set to the default...
This is a problem across any control that has text on including textboxes, checkboxes etc...
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Hello,
Since the original issue is related to that template which is not supported in this forum, you could post issues related to that template to the part Youjun has suggested.
And if you have any issue regarding that sample you have shared with us, you could feel free to post it with a new thread in the forum we suggested, we will focus on that thread to help you.
Thanks for your understanding.
Regards.

How to create a setup for window form application including the related sql database?
i have created a simple window form application project that have only 2 form..
1st one for login in which it'll check the userid n password from database.if both are correct then it will go to 2nd form.
now i want this project to run in another computer.
i created a setup file but its showing some error regarding the database instances connection..
so if anyone can tell me in details how to create the setup file then it'll b a great help..
thanx in advance..Hi,
Consider the above scenario,I suggest you to use the SQL Server Compact+ ClickOnce Deployment, A Compact SQL database is a file that can be bundled with your application installation. Below is a link guiding you through the creation process of a SQL Compact
database.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173009.aspx
The following link discusses setting up the necessary dependencies and prerequisites for SQL Server Compact. (Note, you will need to scroll to the section entitled Private File–Based Deployment.)
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa983326(v=VS.100).aspx
A ClickOnce Deployment can help you publish your application attach compact SQL database into client machine.

Hi everybody!
I want to become a master programmer.
I want to programming "Windows Desktop"
I am using Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 by language C# on Windows 8 OS
I am confusing because Should I use "Windows Forms Application" or "WPF Application" or .....?
which one is better?
Help me!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!
Thanks a lot!
if possible, please send me "step by step exercises about the WPF Application to email: [email protected]
thanks againAlthough I don't have much experience with WPF, only Windows Forms, this blog post might shed some light on which decision you should make:
http://rachel53461.wordpress.com/2012/10/12/switching-from-winforms-to-wpfmvvm/
If you are looking to just add a quick and dirty UI on top of a small script or executable tool, Windows Forms would be the answer, as it is very easy to learn and use. However, since you have the best tools currently available, and you say you want to do
it the right way, I would say learn WPF now. You will benefit from it later on. -

Based on the exception message, I found that your project is build with .NET 4.0, you could consider changing it to .NET 4.5.
If you want to keep it built with .NET 4.0, then you could consider the following fix.
FIX: "Faulting module name: clr.dll" error message when you run a Microsoft .NET Framework 4-based application

Cannot package a windows form application
HI, I have developed a Windows Form app and am going to package it into .appx file for uploading onto Windows Store. I am using Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition and there is no Package.appxmanifest in the project's solution explorer to do the packaging.
How can I enable the Package.appxmanifest onto the solution explorer?You cannot deploy a Windows Forms application to the Windows Store. You have to develop a Windows Store App, which is a special and new kind of Windows application that only runs on Windows 8 and later versions of Windows:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn726767.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Please ask any further questions you may have about Windows Store App development in the following forum:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/home?forum=winappswithcsharp
You can only list (but not actually upload) a desktop app in the store. Please refer to the following page for more information about how to do this.
Listing your desktop app in the Store:

Windows forms application not showing in express 2012 windows 8.
I downloaded Visual Studio Express 2012 for windows 8. I am trying something in Visual Basic and need to select Windows Forms Application. Visual Basic and Windows Store are available on the left side of the window.
Windows Forms Application Template is not in the New Project dialog box. How is this? What can be done?You downloaded the wrong edition if you want the Windows Forms template.
VSE 2012 for Win 8 supports Windows Store app development.
You want the VSE 2012 for Windows
Desktop edition.
Better still, you could get the new, free, Visual studio 2013 Community Edition, which supports Windows Desktop, Windows Store, and web application development:

http://panel3.serverhostingcenter.com:2199/tunein/nrlsxglp.plsHello 0cooldex0,
What library do you used in this scenario? I haven't saw this FSOUND_STREAM from MSDN library.
By the way, winform general is used for talking about Windows Form library, is is using C# or VB.NET but not C or C++. You are not posting in the right forum.
In my point of view, you may choose the forum depending on the library you choosed and post on specific forum.

I'm building an application in windows forms and have the way to publish it into an ftp folder at a Linux server on the internet where I have a web hosting account.
I set up the application to update from a specific url.
after publishing VS2010 keeps telling me that it can't see the published application and when I start the application, it does not update at all..
Is it even possible to setup this configuration?
Please advice how I need to configure my publish so I can
1) Install from a web server url hosted on linux
2) update directly from that web server url hosted on linux
thanks

How to make log in windows form application
I am trying to build a program with log in at the start
i was doing this log in by make a global class on program.cs file
and this global contain : id and name to know who is the user
is that correct or there is a better way to do that ?i am talking about windows form not wpf
Hello,
Maybe we should focus on the nice tool shared by darnold924 instead of just noticing that sample is wpf.
We could make sure that tool also works for winform applications, you could refer to the following document.

Hi and Help,
I'm in the process of upgrading my VS2008.Standard Windows Forms apps to VS2013.Pro. My concern is I've got the VS2008 apps scattered in folders all over my disc; this includes the VS2008 published apps.
All of the converted apps are being stored in one folder,
VB13_AppSource, in their own sub-folders. (I don't know if it makes any difference here, but all of these apps, except one which is a Sudoku screen app, use SQL2005.Express. After I've made all the conversions, I'll upgrade SQL
to the latest Express available down the road in several months. Included will be an upgrade from my current SSMS to the latest SQL Server Management Studio. )
What I'd like from you are recommendations and document locations on how to store VS2013 apps on my C drive. Please note that I'm using Net 4.5.1. Some of my thoughts are:
Source folder for all applications
Folder for all published apps
Folder for Class Library(s?)
Folder for Active SQL Databases
Folder for Test SQL Databases
Thanks for your help,

Thanks for your reply.

Windows Forms Application, the name does not exist in the current context
Probably duplicated here somewhere but I haven't found it yet. I've solved all other errors, have using statements and references lined up yet get this error for my instances in GUI_Load method in PresentationGUI.cs. My solution contains class libraries/projects
for Housing, SingleFamily, MultiUnit and HousingAPP w/contains PresentationGUI and Program.cs.
Code looks like this:
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Data;
using System.Drawing;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using HousingNameSpace;
using SingleFamilyNameSpace;
using MultiUnitNameSpace;
namespace HousingAPPNameSpace
public partial class PresentationGUI : Form
//private SingleFamily singlefamily; apparently this is not the solution
//private MultiUnit multiunit;
public PresentationGUI()
InitializeComponent();
private void PresentationGUI_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
singleFamily = new SingleFamily(32779, 1100, "one car", "plan B");
multiUnit = new MultiUnit(32789, 1250, 16, 0);
Haven't placed more than 2 simple controls on the Form in 'Design'. The 2 errors are on singleFamily and multiUnit. If I can figure out why and how to correct, I can add controls and finally, after eons, get to Error Checking.
Thanks in advance for any and all interest!
MacThe two lines that you have commented out with "apparently this is not the solution" would, in fact, be the solution if you use the right casing so that the variables match the lines with the errors - capital F in singleFamily and capital U in
multiUnit. -
Why are Windows 'APP's so much harder to code than a Windows Forms application?
For example I have been smashing my head against a wall trying to save an image file from a share target, the best help I can find is the below code:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/65a61679-0da8-4109-8a69-b918be351dfa/how-to-save-a-bitmap-image-from-a-share-target?forum=winappswithcsharp&prof=required
But in a 'normal' application I can do what I need to do with:
using System;
using System.Drawing;
namespace Project1
class Class1
static void Main()
Image photo = Image.FromFile("C:\\Temp\\oldphoto.png");
photo.Save("C:\\Temp\\newphoto.png");
Why do the APPs take so much more code to do something like save a file to disk?
Mediocre Access 2010 | (Baby) Beginner C Sharp | OK at Active Directory (2012) | Fragmented understanding of DNS/DHCP | Laughable experience with Group Policy | Expert question asker on MSDN ForumsIt is a good question!
If you need 100 lines of code to save an image it is like a Java program:
- complicated
- not fun to develop with
I think the main problem is that Microsoft release 2 new libraries each year. On the most cases, if you try to compile it with an old library it works, but the app crashes with unexpected errors. It is always harder to develop for Windows and there
are always more libraries to use.
So it begun to be normal, to find a W8-store-app-library and use it in Silverlight, to add missing functionality.
It is a jungle and it seems that Microsoft too doesn't know anymore what library should be in the msdn-help. Some times, if you search for something, you finish on a library that can't be added to your project.
This is the reason, because your question will probably never be answered! -
Opening a PDF file in Admin mode from a windows forms application (C#)
Hi,
I need to open a pdf file using Windows Application. I have used the below code launch the pdf files.
Process prc = new Process();
prc.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe";
Environment.CurrentDirectory = @"C:\SamplePDF\";
prc.StartInfo.Arguments = " /C sample.pdf";
prc.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
prc.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
prc.Start();
This code is working fine without admin mode. But while running the output exe from bin folder with admin mode(right click the exe and choose "Run as Administrator"), pdf files are not launching . But its opened in the background application and I can see this from windows task manager.
Could anyone please help me on this issue ? Is there any other ways to launch a pdf file in admin mode ?
-Balaji.Thank you for replaying so soon..
Well you are right by using a widget and etc.. but the problem is that I have been told that this application should open a PDF file that has bookmarks to each chapter of the text and one can make a search on this text by using pdf search.. So I do not have any other choice than opening a pdf :D and my time is unfortunately limit.
For solving the problem that the user may not have PDF reader.. well I have been told that user should install the pdf reader, so in my application package I am putting the installation file of PDF.
But going back to my problem.. I guess is someway I have to get the OS type of the user and I have to do a SWITCH or something on the OS type and then change the content of the Runtime.exec(). But the question is how can I get the OS type and what should I change in Runtime.exec().
So now any idea? any solution??
