Web Dispatcher Versions

I currently have 2 web dispatchers that are NW 701.  All of my systems that we are looking to use web dispatcher(s) with are also NW701.  I can't seem to find a PAM entry for web dispatcher.  Is their any version requirements around web dispatcher and systems they connect to?  I saw a sme article about web dispatcher 7.2 and using it with multiple network aliases to redirect users to multiple hosts.  I.e. one webdispatcher could service both ECC and portal hosts.  I believe to do the samething in web dispatcher 701 you have to use url prefixes, or run multiple web dispatchers.
Is Web dispatcher a case where it always makes sense to get the newest version when implementing?  Or does it need to match the systems you connect to?
Thanks, Pat

Hi Olivier,
I aam trying to upgrade Web Dispatcher from 701 to 7.20 on Windows box. I downloaded the file "sapwebdisp_73-10007272.sar" from the marketplace. When I unpacked this SAR file it created "servicehttp" folder also I found "wdispadmin.SAR" I also unpacked this file then it created a folder called "admin". In the admin I found 4 folders called, icp, public, publicicp and publicincl.
Instead of icmadm.sar now it is only "wdispadmin.SAR".
Now I started the Web Dispatcher but the webadmin UI does not work correctly. Like I cannot put the web dispatcher in the maintenance mode, I cannot see this screen there is an error called
"unhandled exceptions: "
"ICP_StructValue: illegal struct reference: icm_info.uptime"
"ICP_StructValue: illegal struct reference: icm_serv_info.aclfile"
"ICP_StructValue: illegal struct reference: icm_user_info.locked"
"ICP_Value: Illegal type: 7"
I checked for any related notes, I found 1484856. In the note it said
The follwoing ICP files are not delivered in wdispadmin.sar.
- wdisp_add_system.icp
- icpdef.inc
Therefore the ICM/Webdispatcher Admin UI does not work correctly.
When I clicked the download it takes me to the page called "NO DATA AVAILABLE".
Did you have any of this errors? Meanwhile I have opened an ticket with SAP for this.
Please let me know if you have come across this error.
Thanks in Advance
Ramesh.

  • Web Dispatcher configured but not working

    Hi,
We wish to configure SAP Web Dispatcher as a reverse proxy. For this we've installed using sapinst SAP Web Dispatcher Version 7.00.11, multithreaded, ASCII, 64 BIT Patch Level 140 which was manally updated to SAP Web Dispatcher Version 7.10.1, multithreaded, ASCII, 64 BIT Patch Level 152.
The SAP Web Dispatcher server is in DMZ whereas the Enterprise Portal servers are in the intranet.
The updated SAP Web Dispatcher is available in /sapmnt/<SID>/exe and not in a seperate directory (/usr/sap/<SID>/sapwebdisp) as per SAP note 908097. The SAP Web Dispatcher has been installed on a standalone machine with instance number 00.
I've configured the Sap Web dispatcher with the -bootstrap option. The -checkconfig option completes with 0 warning 0 errors.
The TCP ports between SAP Web Dispatcher and Enterprise Portal servers are opened in the firewall. Also, required ports 22 & 8100 are opened from my computer to the SAP Web Dispatcher Server.
Yet when I try to connect to the administrator interface with the URL http://<Web_Disp_IP>:8100/sap/wdisp/admin/default.html, I receive the following text on the browser:
    Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.
Similar message is received even if the SAP Web Dispatcher is installed in a seperate directory.
Has anyone come across a similar issue?
    Thanks.

  • Patching Web Dispatcher?

    Hi,
Web dispatcher download/installation (importing?) info at
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/7c/6bf41aca84425196bd358df965fe3e/frameset.htm
is misleading, it lists SAPWEBDISP_<PL>.SAR as the latest Web dispatcher version, and mentions that DW_<PL>.SAR naming was used for older versions.
    On the https://service.sap.com/patches sapwebdisp_0-20000961.SAR (patch level = 73) is older than dw_88-20000961.SAR (patch level = 87, not 88).
In order to patch older version of Web Dispatcher do I need to uninstall older version, and if so does uninstalling means deleting Web dispatcher directory?
    Thanks!
    Rob

    Yes it was,
Here is the version output from DW_88-20000961.SAR package:

  • CRM_UI Reporting - HTTPS Terminating at Web Dispatcher or SSL all the way

    Hi,
We need to set up access to crm_ui reports (leads and marketing mainly) in CRM 7.0 for vendors coming from the internet. The CRM server is in the internal network. In order for this to work I plan to setup the web-dispatcher in the application dmz. The initial login is going to be via  the web dmz layer (using sun's iplanet server), which then routes the crm URL to the web dispatcher in the App dmz and then from the web dispatcher to CRM server.
One requirement from our security team is to set up the flow as HTTPS.
On going through SAP help I get the impression that it can be set up two ways, one, configuring web dispatcher to pass the SSL connection to backend, & two - configuring the web dispatcher to terminate SSL.
Seems the former is quite straight forward (from SAP online help we have to set the icm/server_port_<xx>> = PROT=ROUTER) but does it also require that we setup the crm_ui_frame service as SSL and activate the HTTPS service in ICM?
Or is it better to go via the second option (HTTPS termination) without changing the backend setup? SAP Online help lists steps to do the HTTPS termination but I have not come across any detailed documentation for the first method.
Any thoughts, suggestions will be helpful for either scenario.
    Thanks,
    Rommel Bhan

    Thanks Martin the document helped.
Now the web dispatcher seems to talk to the HTTPS port on the backend.
However there is one issue I see in the dev_webdisp and was wondering if you have an insight.
Based on webdispatcher parameters, its taling to ms_https_port 8533 of backend

  • URL for SOAP sender in case of web dispatcher

    Hello,
    I have a scenario SOAP-->XI -->RFC synchronous.
The soap request coming to XI is HTTPS without client authentication.
    The URL is:

We have installed web dispatcher for load balancing.
Do I need to change the URL to replace web dispatcher host and port?
What is the additional setting need to be done in the web dispatcher profile?
Do I need to add icm/server_port_1       = PROT=ROUTER,PORT=443 in profile?

    Hello Nani,
It looks to be a SNC Issue.
just check wether you have the parameter snc/gssapi_lib define in ur profile of SAP system
This parameter should be set to the path of your gssapi32.dll file
Also u must also have a system variable defined SNC_LIB which is again to the path of gssapi32.dll
Also make sure that gssapi32.dll exists
Check these,ur web dispatcher might come up

  • Problem with Web Dispatcher with Double Stack

We have the latest version of Web Dispatcher - 7.0 with latest patch.
I'm having a problem where I am trying to use the web dispatcher for load balancing in a double stack (ABAP/JAVA) system.  The person who did the install pointed the installation to the wrong server (which I assume can be easily changed in the profile).  However, on the page where it indicates to activate the SICF services he left the box unchecked (but I checked that necessary ones were activated per note 552286).  I now get these kind of errors when pointing to the http message server on a different system (he installed it assuming it was just for portal (java):
    [Thr  5] *** ERROR => ICP_StructValue: illegal struct reference: wdisp_host_info.capacityIsFi

I get the above error when I go to "monitor server" groups in the web dispatcher admin console.
    Here is my profile:

    Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

    Hi,
I've never seen this error but some thing seems strange to me :
You use the same port (8101) for the listening port of the web dispatcher and the listening port of the message server of you back office system.
Is it really the case ?
Is PW4 the SID of you web disptcher ?
Is SAPSYSTEM = 01 the sysnr of your web dispatcher ?
I hope that the info of the web disptcher is not mixed up with the back office info ?

  • SAP Web dispatcher and WebAS 6.20 ?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to configure a standalone SAP Web dispatcher (SWD) to access our WebAS (WAS), but I don't understand how to setup the configurations files.
Currently I can reach the SWD admin via: http://swdhost:81/sap/wdisp/admin/default.html
The WebAS (ABAP) service I want to access is at:
    http://washost/ris
The SWD pfl file looks like this:
    # Profile generated by sapwebdisp bootstrap
    # unique instance number
    SAPSYSTEM = 1
    # Accesssability of Message Servers
    rdisp/mshost = swdhost
    ms/http_port = 80
    # SAP Web Dispatcher Parameter
    wdisp/auto_refresh = 120
    wdisp/max_servers = 100
    wdisp/url_map_location = file://urlprefix.txt
    # SAP Web Dispatcher Ports
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=81
    # SAP Web Dispatcher Web Administration
    icm/HTTP/admin_0 = PREFIX=/sap/wdisp/admin,DOCROOT=./admin
    Urlprefix.txt looks like this:
    version 1.0
    PREFIX=%2fRIS%2f&CASE=&VHOST=%2a%3a%2a%3b
Now after reading most of the post in the forum and the docs, I still cant understand how I can "say" to SWD to map http://swdhost:81/ris to http://washost/ris .
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best Regards
    Erik

    Hi Alexander,
Thanks, the ms/http_port parameter was not set in my WAShost, now the SWD can see the WAS
now if I try to reach :
    http://WAShost:81/sap/public/ping , I get a reply from my WAShost.
    but I can't reach http://SWDhost:81/ris or http://SWDhost:81/sap/bc/was/sap/zris
http://WAShost/ris is an alias of http://WAShost/sap/bc/was/sap/zris.
    Anyway thanks already.
    Cheers
    Erik

  • Web dispatcher and J2EE load balancing

I have portal DBCI on one server and DI on multiple servers. I implemented Web dispatcher in front of the DI and it does the load balancing across all DI and CI. What I want to do though is not to route any users to CI instance - ie take CI server processes out of load balancing.
In ABAP environment you could create a logon group and not put CI in the group and users coming through the logon group do not go to the CI. I would like to do the same with Portal Java processes. In help.sap.com I found that web dispatcher uses default !J2EE group if there are no groups defined - to distribute users but I can not find anyway to define a logon group for J2EE java.
Does anybody out there know how to do this - define a logon group and include only DI and not CI in that?

We are using NW 04 based EP 6 SP 16. I am looking for to use web dispatcher to distribute users on the DI servers and not distribute any users on the CI server. What can I do so that if admin user enter http://CI_server:50000/irj then they can login to the CI server if users come through webdispatcher then they are not put on the CI but go to one of the DI servers only. By default web dispatcher would send some users to CI and I don't want that.

  • Single Web Dispatcher for Multiple SAP Systems

Having read a number of posts & S-Notes, I found that Web Dispatcher 7.2 is capable of routing between multiple SAP instances.
But despite having troubleshooted, I am unable to make it work. I have two separate installations ERP & Portal on the same host, but my web dispatcher only routes to one of them at the same time. Simultaneous access to these 2 systems is not possible either with URL or Port control procedure mentioned at url http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw72/helpdata/en/c5/ec466f5544409982c7d3ca29ce1ad3/frameset.htm
Can anyone point an error in my below mentioned configuration of web dispatcher file.
I want requests on port 8853 of my web-dispatcher to be routed to system DEV &
the requests on port 8843 of my web-dispatcher to be routed to system DEP
    rdisp/mshost = sapdeverp
    ms/http_port = 8100
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8853
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8843
    wdisp/system_0 = SID=DEV, MSHOST=sapdeverp, MSPORT=8100, SRCSRV=*:8853
    wdisp/system_1 = SID=DEP, MSHOST=sapdeverp, MSPORT=8102, SRCSRV=*:8843
Can we mention multiple message servers instead of single message server "rdisp/mshost = sapdeverp
    ms/http_port = 8100" ?
    Any suggestions ?

Very right in mentioning this point coz myself have been confused over it but if I remove these lines & execute the -checkconfig:

  • Web Dispatcher and SNC WAS

If I connect my Web Dispatcher to a WAS that is not running SNC it connects okay but if I point it to a WAS that is running SNC I get SNC related arrors in the file dev_webdisp.log:
    [Thr 6968] *** ERROR => invalid service descriptor token 'p:GB\SAPServiceQAS' [ictxxroute_r 2681]
[Thr 6968] *** ERROR => syntax error in text description near line 4 [ictxxroute_r 3135]
    [Thr 6968] *** ERROR => IcrUpdateServerPoolFromDescrString() failed 6 [icrxx.c      1762]
If I call the /sap/public/ping service on the WAS directly from Internet Explorer on my PC it connects okay, but if I call the same service from my PC via the Web Dispatcher it failes with the above message in the log file and the below HTTP message:
    500 Dispatching Error
    Dispatching Error
    Error: -26
    Version: 6040
    Component: HTTP_ROUTE

    Module: http_route.c
    Line: 2352
    Server: UKLONSAP011_QE7_10
Detail: no valid destination server available for '!ALL' rc=13
I cannot find any information relating to the Web Dispatcher and SNC on help.sap.com or OSS.
Do I have to install the SNC library onto the Web Dispatcher server? If so, how do I then reference it?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
SNC library is not required for Web Dispatcher.
The problem seems to be the data the message server provides with the URL http://<msg_host>:<msg_http_port>/msgserver/text/logon?version=1.2
If SNC is activated you will have an entry for RFCS in the data like:
    RFCS     bin.wdf.sap.corp     4853     p/secude:CN=BIN, O=SAP-AG, C=DE
The error " invalid service descriptor token 'p:GB\SAPServiceQAS' " indicates that the parser could not parse the response from the message server. Then the server list is empty and you get the "dispatching error".
Maybe the backslash lets the parser struggle. Please  check that you have an up to date version running (6.40 kernel patch level > 90). If that is the case, then this problem should be handled by OSS message.
    Kind regards,
       Oliver
