What happens when max job limit of few RAS server is reached?

Hi, I would like to know what happens when max job limit of server is reached. I know that we need to increase the job limit but my question is a bit different.
We have 7 RAS per servers. I got this message "The maximum report processing jobs limit configured by your system administrator has been reached" on 4 RAS servers but not all 7. I am tracking servers using PIDs on WIndows server 2003.
Does this means this is a warning that Job limit of 75 (in our case) has reached for 4 servers and for remaining 3 servers its still not reached. This means 3 servers are still able to handle more report request as they have not reached their max limit.
OR
This message means all of the servers have reached to their max limit and there is no more request which can be taken.
We are doing 3000 users performance testing on 21 RAS servers.
We are on BOXI R2 SP3 on IIS and opening crystal reports using .NET SDK.
Thanks,

This is same as my other question so I am closing this too. We have set limit as unlimited and during peak load we had almost balanced reports on all RAS.

  • What happens when the maximum limit of DataBase partitiong is reached

    Hello,
We are using SQL server 2012 which allows 15000 partitions per table.
We are partitioning tables on the primary ID (e.g. periodID) of one of the tables.
As of now we have data for all the period in the DB. I am wondering that if we reach the maximum partition limit allowed by SQL server then what is the suggested approach?

    Hi Rachana,
I have not tried it myself so I do not know. I suppose, it would just fail to create new partition. However, I heard some stories about performance issues, mainly related to subotimal execution plan choices in the systems with a few thousands partitions.
Frankly, I would not be surprised to see such problems. Under the hood, every partition becomes "individual table" with data in clustered and aligned nonclustered indexes sorted on partition scope. In any case, I would consider systems with thousands
of partitions are the edge cases. You rarely find them in the real life and some inefficiencies and problems could slip through the cracks in the test plans.
I would also suspect that number of partitions in DW systems is less important than in OLTP due to the query patterns - scans vs. seeks.
With all being said, I would consider such designs as impractical. Partitioning is management feature, which helps to address a few challenges, such as improving system availability with piecemeal restore; implementing tiered storage; improve concurrency
during ETL processes; implementing sliding window scenario; etc. I can see very little benefits of creating large number of partitions. Obviously, in some cases it could be beneficial to have a few dozens of operational (actively accessed and volatile) data
partitions. However, you rarely have the case to implement large number of partitions on historical/old data. Administrative overhead could easily outweight any benefits here.
For example, if I needed to architect partitioning on the large OLTP table that stores data for several years, I would partition operational data (weekly, monthly - depends on the requirements); partition previous-year data on quarterly or yearly basis and
keep older data in the single partition. Tiered storage and availability SLAs would become the most critical factors in the decision.
In fact, I would consider to combine both, partitioned views and partitioned tables together keeping recent data in the separate tables to improve accuracy of index statistics and old data in partitioned tables using partitioned views on top of that. But
it is the subject of another discussion.
    Thank you!

  • What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?

I'm on my second iMac. My first one (G5, 1984) died, and I replaced it early 2010 with an Intel mac. The transition when exceedingly well largely due to Time Machine. I just hooked the Time Machine drive to the new system, and I was soon back up running!
My home folder has 70GB of data. The Macintosh drive has 105GB of data and 395GB free. The Time Machine drive has 220GB used and 30GB free.
    1. What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?
    2. Do I have control over what backups get deleted?
    3. If lightning strikes twice, will I still be able to restore my Intel mac like my G5 mac, even if backups get deleted?
    4. Is there anyway to control what backups/backup files get deleted?
    5. Any other thoughts?
    Thanks.

i have deleted the time machine folders and they are now in my trash. when i try to secure empty my trash it will delete everything but the t/m folders. how do i delete them?
Do you mean all of them? The entire Backups.backupdb folder?
That's a large mess. First, even a normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of files. Your best bet by far is to simply erase them with Disk Utility -- that will only take a few moments. If your TM drive has a single partition, see #1 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html]. If there are other partition(s) on the drive, see #2 there.
If not, and you only deleted some of the folders, you have a different, worse problem. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't do a very good job of warning folks: +*Never move, change, or delete anything in your backups via the Finder or Terminal.+*
You shouldn't have to delete backups at all, since Time Machine will do that automatically when the disk/partition gets full. But you can do it without harm via Time Machine. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
A normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably tens or hundreds of thousands of items, each of which must be individually deleted. A secure delete will take much, much longer, as each deleted file must be overwritten with zeros.

(No sarcasm, I'm curious about these snap solutions in general. Though I am really down on Dell for what turned out to be a brain-damaged laptop I got for my wife.)
Well, you can't really make a judgement about a company's enterprise products based on an experience with their consumer products. What if it came from what they call a business products catalog? They intermingle laptops with servers.
Don't know, in general. I do know that for Dell there is a distinct difference between their decidedly consumer laptops (Inspiron) and their "business" Lattitude series. I know that at my last job we had a lot of rock solid HP equipment (servers and SAN) - vs. an HP laptop I had that was trouble from Day One. I'm sure there is a point in desktops and laptops the line can get blurred, but in the case of the OP, he was no where near that fuzzy line.

  • What happens when subscription ends

    Good Morning,
I have cancelled  my dw subscription, just a few days ago, ( it was a cost thing) So today i clicked to see what happens when I open it, it opened but a screen just says to go to my account to straight in  out payment info, but also say you have 66 days, for what?  If anyone else has cancelled what have they found, I have moved onto Coda 2 and seems good, I do most of my own coding, Thx RJ

Sounds like you paid ahead of time a bit, and canceled with 66 days left on your subscription. You will still be able to use the program for the remainder of the time you have paid, but get a reminder that your subscription is expiring.
After that paid time runs out, you won't be able to use the program at all until you re-up the subscription.

  • What happens when DBU reaches 100%

What happens to batch jobs requesting or creating VTV's when the DBU is reaching 100%? The doc says that when the DBU reaches 95%, the VTCS will switch to space release mode to try to free up space as fast as possible. But if you have peak batch processing possibly allocating up to 256 VTD's and writing lots of data, it appears there can be situations where the DBU could reach 100%.
    1. What happens to the batch jobs that are trying to write to the cache if DBU is 100%?
    a. Do they fail if cache space has been exhausted?
    b. Or do they go into a wait state or slow the writes until space is freed up.
    2. Has this ever happened to anybody?
    a. What was the impact?
    b. What was put into place to prevent this from happening again?
    TIA,
    Mike

Okay...so what do I do? After this it goes to "stopping services", but says it is unable to do that. Then when I open I-tunes it says that the part of the program where the computer connects to the ipod was not installed correctly. this is soooo frustrating. my brother's had an ipod shuffle for about 2 years so itunes was already installed. i was just trying to update it so my ipod video could be read.

Sorry no but here is some info anyway,
We increased MaxPermSize from 192 to 512
We also increased min and max JVM Heap size to 768 and 2048 respectively.
Since then I think we have not experienced this problem more than once.
We also have one server with the default parameters and it seems to work fine.
I believe that size, and number of simultaneous request/responses have an impact  on this.
We will now install the latest updates and after that decide whether to start logging jvm activities or not.
    Best regards

  • What happens when a new cc version is available

I am currently building a case as to why my employer should more to Adobe CC, however they have a few questions:
    1. When a new version of CC is available is it automatically downloaded and installed, or is there a choice to not upgrade?
    2. What happen when features get dropped in the new CC upgrades? for example TLF text in Flash is not supported in CC, so those working files would not longer be compatible.
Thanks in advance for your reply

    1. There is a notification for update, and you have a choice to update or not to update.
    2. Usually new major versions are installed as separate apps, so you can get the new version and keep the old one for working with files that may not be compatible with the new version. Or if you need only the new version, you can uninstall the old one. For example when 2014 version Photoshop CC was released and if you chose to update, the update process left the old version installed.

  • What happens when you  get a "PermGen space null" error?

We have resently installd CF 10 64 bit om three new windows 2008 R2 servers.
One of them keeps generating an error "PermGen Space null" when processing CF script files.
There is nothing special about the scripts resulting in error
we have tried to increse Maxpermsize from 192m to 768m but that had no effect.
the other two servers seems to bee doing fine.
    Any ideas what to do?

  • If I upgrade to the plan that allows 5000 responses per form, is that 5000 per month? What happens when there have been over 5000 responses?

What happens when a form reaches the 5000 responses limit? Is the limit refreshed?

That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

  • What happens when an iPod is synchronized with an iTunes library that is bigger than the available space on the iPod?

What happens when an iPod is synchronized with an iTunes library that is bigger than the available space on the iPod? I did this some time ago. On screen was shown available space somewhat less than 120 GB, but maybe somewhere between 10 and 20 GB more in the library. I had to get the iPod updated anyway, so I did proceed. However, afterwards the total content of the library was only about 110 GB. Now I wonder what did actually happen. Was the first sign only corrected for double copies of the same files or lost files or where files deleted from iTunes? And if files where deleted from iTunes, were they also deleted from my computer?

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one.  Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

  • What happens when multiple users access the same servlet?

Do the users share all the same resources? Or is a new process generated for each user? I have a servlet that builds a string to return to the user and I only have myself to test, so I can't really see what happens when many users access the servlet. Is there a possibility that the string will get screwed up, like when dealing with multiple threads, or do all the users get their own resources and I don't have to worry about that?

huh? if you can point a test servlet at it, you can point a browser at it (even if the servlet does not serve html it will run)
try pasting the servlet URL into a web browser
refreshing multiple browsers repeatedly could provide a manual test

Not if you change the ID.  You would need to give them the new address.

  • I recently downloaded Parallels 9 to my imac so I could install Windows 7 Home Premium and had no trouble everthing is working fine the only question I have is is there a benefit to migrating the 2 together and what happens when I do Thanks.  Ricco

I recently downloaded Parallels 9 to my imack so I could install Windows 7 Home Premiumwith no problem and everthing is working fine, and I was thinking of Migrating the 2 2 and was wondering what benefits there would be and what happens when I do.

Windows 7 will peer down through the VM and remember what hardware the VM is installed on. Migrate the VM to different Mac hardware, and on first boot, Windows 7 will advise you that you are not using genuine Microsoft Windows. It will then treat you as though it believes you misappropriated it.

  • Time Machine backup created on Mac with a large hard disk. What happens when restore to MacBook Air with small SSD drive?

What if a Time Machine backup was created on a Mac with a large hard disk, e.g. 500GB iMac - and I buy a new MacBook Air with a small SSD hard disk e.g 128GB. What happens when I need to use the larger Time Machine file to set up the new MacBook Air? What happens to all those files that can't fit on the smaller SSD drive?

It is not the HD size, but rather the size of the data it contains. If you right-click your 500GB drive and select "Get Info" you can see how much is actually being used.
Naturally if you are using more space than the new drive has, then you have to make some choices about what you want to keep and what you want to keep archived.
I don't know what options are available but you may simply have to do a manual restore of files you want, in groups.
