When I customize my toolbars, the spaces don't stay--the toolbars just expand once I hit 'Done'.

Question

My Firefox skin's focus is in the middle, so I'm trying to move everything to the sides and bottom so I can see it. In order to do this, I have to add spaces. But as soon as I hit 'Done', the Search bar expands, as does the address bar (which isn't quite as concerning as it doesn't cover the skin.)
Is there a limit to how many spaces you can use?
I suppose this could be solved by going back to the original tab location, but I kind of like the tabs on top, so I'd rather not if I don't have to.

You can't use flexible space on a toolbar that has other flexible items like the location bar or search bar. On such toolbars only normal space will work.
It is possible to set a maximum width for the location bar and the search bar.
Add code to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserChrome.css userChrome.css] below the @namespace line.
