When placing a Word document in a frame, the text over fills the frame boundaries.

When I attempt to place a Word document in an InDesign text frame, the text flows outside the boundaries of the frame. This also happens if I use the InDesign placeholder text.

    I'm reposting this, since the last one seemed to get lost in the jumble:
    When placing text from a word document (.docx) indesign only gives me three pages for a 118 long document.  Also, those pages are blank, and to access the text, I have to delete a few blank lines.  When I do this however, the text is grossly oversized.  Changing the font does not help, as even on 6 pt, the text is much larger than it should be.  Help?  I've tweaked import options (although I may not know enough to diagnose the issue I am having), changed the format of the file (.doc, rtf) nothing seems to work.
    I am working in Indesign CS5.5 and here is a link to the document I am working with:

    The problem is the page size. It's tiny lee than an inch wide and a bit over an inch tall. I'm not sure what you set up, but what you have now seems to have been made much smaller with the Page tool, perhaps.
    Set your ruler units in your prefs with nothing open to a system you are comfortable working in (the doc is set up in Picas, now. Do you know how to work in Picas?), then create a new file the size you really want.

It is just appears to be loading, but becomes 'not responding' and I have to shut it down through task manager. I have been copying and pasting, but this is very unproductive. Please help.     Thank you for all your help, I did not know you replied, so perhaps the email went into my spam.  I followed the instructions here: http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-indesign-documents.html and did #8. It took a while, but I eventually found the culprit was a pasted image in the document causing trouble.
    8. Check objects and graphics for damage.

  • When opening a Word document... an option box displays which I placed a check to 'Do this automatically...' but when redoing same process... option box display.

    We're using EBS application that has a option to open/create download Word document. When we use Firefox v30 to open a Word document, a option box displays to inform where the document is to be open and/or save and a check box which is unmarked... which states... 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on'. I've checked the box and clicked 'OK'. I also checked Firefox options to the application and I checked and verified the Word document settings to 'default'. What happens after re-checking the process to open a Word document... the same open option box displays again... the check box is engage though. I would think that after selecting the box... this display box will not display but directly open the Word document. Please let me know if there is another setting or suggestion.

    * Send the correct Content-Type header (e.g. ''application/msword'' MIME type).
    * Not send the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header.
    You can use the Web Console to examine the response headers for the file request in question and see if the above two conditions are met.

    I don?t know what you mean with laptop keeps sending the document but if you have this issue with office word or some other office application, try to check some forum where you can find discussion about similar theme.
    I can not give you any precise answer but it is maybe because of office specific settings or you press accidentally some key on the keyboard and on this way interrupt symbols entering.

    You can print to the Adobe PDF printer, but that only creates links that Acrobat or Reader recognize as such. That is the reason for needing the entire URL on one line. It is not actually an embedded link, but one created by Acrobat on the fly. With OFFICE 2013 you have two choices: 1. create the PDF with the print to Adobe PDF and then add the links in Acrobat so that they are complete or 2. I think the WORD save as PDF or XPS will create the PDF with links, but not sure. If so, that would be the quickest solution for you, but be aware of potential problems with the MS plugin.
    Of course, the third option is to upgrade to XI which can be done with AA 9. You will probably not be eligible for a for an upgrade to whatever the next version will be.

    Do you have Microsoft Word installed on your Mac? If so, you can reassign all .doc files to Word by selecting the file in Finder and choosing "File > Get Info" from the menu. In the window that opens look for "Open with" and change the entry to "Microsoft Word".

    The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
    If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
    Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
    Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.

    In most cases you can just select the text and copy/paste. You can do that unless the file is a picture/scan.

    We are facing a issue with the pre assigned headers assigned by Adobe acrobat Pro Xl.
    Our actual requirement is as follows:
    1. As we convert a PDF to DOC there shouldn't be any pre assigned headers (header levels defined).
    2. DOC should be a normal Word document and we should be able to define the header style.
    We have tried working out on the same but nothing is going our way.
    We tried couple of step which are as follows:
    1. Deleting pre assigned TAG's.
    2. Clearing headers with the help of Touch Up Reading Order Tool (TURO).
    Request you to kindly revert on the same.

    You cannot control how Acrobat creates the word file.
    2. DOC should be a normal Word document and we should be able to define the header style.
    The word file is a normal Word document file. You may wish it was designed for it to be easiest to edit. Acrobat is making a Word file to most reliably resemble the original pdf file. I have no trouble creating any header style I want. The text in the header frequently consists of text boxes. Acrobat does this to insure accurate representation of the pdf file.

    Why repeat the question in the description area? That provides no more information than just leaving the description area blank.
    Yes you can edit documents in Pages. What can you not figure out that you want to do? Have you transfered a document to the iPad and opened it in Pages and tried to edit it?
