I tried sap help to find this information but there is no luck.

Error when activating Real Time Data Source

Hi..
I created a generic datasource in R/3 system via RSO2, with the Real-time check box enabled in the settings for Generic Delta. I saved the datasource. Replicated it into BW System.
I tried to activate this Real time Data Source in BW, it says "Error when activating Data Source".
I am on BI 7.0, with PI_BASIS: 2005_1_700.

Simulation Vs Real in Generic Data Source

Hi ,
I have got a generic data source based on Function Module. In the FM it is actually updating some mapping tables. I would like to update those tables only when extractor is actually executed using Infopackage or using DTP(Direct access). But don't want to update other tables when data source is executed using RSA3 simulation mode.
Is there a way to find whether data source is run in simulation or real in the Function Module?
I found 0REQUID is getting value as TEST when executing data source in simulation (RSA3), but I can't hard code just this in my function module as this can be changed to any thing in future.

Data Federator data source not available causes Universe Connection error

I created a Data Federator project that connects to 20 servers across US and Canada. All data sources are SQL Server 2005. The DF project maps 40 source objects into 4 target objects. I created a universe based on the DF project and we have been quite pleased with Webi query response. Today one of the source servers was taken off line and this generated a connection error when trying to access the universe (not trying to access the data source that failed). We do not want the universe connection to error when one source server is not available u2013 is that possible?
If the answer is no then I see us abandoning what appears to be a great solution for real time distributed reporting and resorting to ETL and moving data.

Data Federator - Building Web Services Data Source - Request Guidance

I am trying to build a web services data source in Data Federator.
I have:
1. In ECC, I have created a web service, proxy, port, endpoint, etc. and am testing it with WS Navigator
2. I have created a Project in Data Federator of the type web service
    a. Here I have assigned the WSDL URL (generated in ECC) as the URL
    b. I have setup web service authentication using the same userid, pwd in the web services definition (note: I have set the
        web services authentication to 'NONE' to avoing authorization issues)\
    c. I am now trying to "Generate Operations"
I keep getting the error :
The File Access Parameters are not valid (directory path = <HERE IS THE PATH TO THE WSDL WITH THE HOST/PORT stripped OUT>; file pattern = document
I believe that it is finding the WSDL, becuase when I change the WSDL from 'Document' to 'RPC', the error changes with the file pattern = rpc.
What needs to be done to the file access parameter piece.

We are using XI to load data to BI from source system. XI basically uses the same concept as Web Services - Real time data concept via RFC embeded in Proxies.
I was using web services to test data load - eventually we will use XI.
KJs blog is pretty good. I was able to get data loaded - after several iterations and several OSS notes. It is still not perfect - there are several manual steps . I am going to pick KJs brain on that.
We are on SP10 and looks like there are several bugs in RSRDA. Some of these are addressed in SP11 an SP12.
Some notes to consider are
0001003963, 0001008276,0001009260 and 001003265.

SQL Server 2008 R2 - Report Builder 3.0 - timeout using shared data source and stored procedure

I select the shared datasource from the data source propeties dialog, test the connection and everything is good.
I add a dataset by selecting "use a dataset embedded in my report" option within the Dataset properties dialog.
I select the newly added data source, click the "Stored procedure" query type and drop down the list box and select my intended stored procedure.
the timeout for the dataset is "0" seconds.
I click the "OK" button and I'm presented with the parameters to the stored procedure.
I enter valid data for the parameters and click the "OK" button.
I then get the following error message after 30 seconds:
The problem is, all of the timeouts, that I'm aware of, have values of zero (no timeout) or high enough values that 30 seconds isn't even close to the timeout.
I think the smallest timeout we have is 120 seconds.
I have searched this site and many others and the solutions all involve altering the stored procedure to get the fields into report builder and then revert the stored procedure back to its original form.
To me, this is NOT a solution.
I have too many stored procedures that need to be brought into Report Builder.
I need a real solution.

I don't mean to be rude, but really, check to see if the stored procedure can return data rows???
Maybe I'm not being clear enough.
The stored procedure runs perfectly fine.
it runs perfectly fine in the production environment and the test environment.
I can access the stored procedure in several ways and have it return correct data.
I can even trick report builder into creating a dataset with parameters and run the stored procedure that way.
What I cannot do, is to get report builder to not timeout after 30 seconds on the initial creation of a dataset with a Query type of stored procedure.
I have seen this issues posted again and again and again on may different sites and the "solution" is to simplifiy the stored procedure by creating a stored procedure that has a create table and a select in the stored procedure and that's it. After
report builder creates the dataset the developer then has to replace the simplified stored procedure with the actual stored procedure and everything works fine after that.
HOWEVER, having to go through this process for 70 or more stored procedures is ridiculous.
It would appear that there is something within report builder itself that is causing this issue.
The SQL Script included is an example of a stored procedure that will not create fields create a dataset with fields and parameters in Report Builder 3.0:

We are using CRM data source:0CRM_PROD_OBJ_LIST(Delta) and ODS 0CRM_OL.
Issue: Data is loaded in to PSA correctly but when it is staged to ODS it is skipping some of the records.
Between this PSA and ODS their is a Start routine in Update rule.

1. Can Some one please check whether it is standard or Z? Because I had debugged the program I found no problem in it.

Analysis on it:
   1. I read in the SAP help that u201CBefore you perform a delta update for this ODS object, ensure that data previously loaded into the ODS object is activated. Otherwise the delta update could lead to inconsistencies.u201D (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_tm80/helpdata/en/ba/21423fc657e07fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm). But I had seen in the ODS
(0CRM_OL) manage that number of requests are activated at once so I had deleted the ODS requests and reloaded one by one by activating them sequentially.
Till the request which has got problem that is SID of request 90949 (PSA) dated 06/09/2011. After loading the said request the contract number (0000132672) was still missing in the ODS. Then I had debugged the 9 data package of 90949 in which the contract number 0000132672 was present. I found that after the code for Start routine is completed the contract number was still existing in the internal table. But that is not updated into the New(Queue) Table of ODS.
Unable to debug the background job which is generated while updating the data from PSA to ODS, as no real data found at that time.
Code Process in Start Routine (It will use both the active table of ODS and PSA data (of relevant request )):
Conclusion: There is no problem in Start routine. (Seems it is standard routine (need to be confirmed)).
2.       Found in Sap help that u201CWhen you use this InfoSource to load data into the ODS objects Product Lists (0CRM_PL) and Object Lists (0CRM_OL), you must set the processing method Only PSA with the option Update Subsequently in Data Targets in the corresponding InfoPackage. The update rules for the above ODS objects use a global table in their start routine to enable delta updates for this extractor. Once the data to be loaded has been distributed to multiple data packages, the contents of this global table are only retained if you have set the above processing method. If you set any other processing method, the contents of this global table are deleted between processing of data packagesu201D (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/05/bb423fd9575003e10000000a114084/frameset.htm).
For this to implement need to delete data from ODS and from PSA so as to load the data with new info package (Process type Only PSA update sub sequential).

Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

Hi All,
WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard. When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
Procedure
In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.

Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

After that I created a Controller class containing a main method that looks up the remote

Here we strictly implemented the checks according to the requirements of the JPA specification. Technically, we could do with private constructors as well. But the JPA specifications requires the constructor to be protected to allow a JPA implementation to subclass entities if needed.

No, unfortunately, there is no comparable option in SAP JPA (yet). We understand that there is a need for forward mapping. We would have liked to delegate this task to the JPA design time (i.e. Dali). However, we had to discover that Dali does not perform this task properly and we can't recommend using it any more.
Consequently, there is no automatic schema generation in SAP JPA 1.0.

With Hibernate Entity Manager, the id generation strategy in use with GenerationType.AUTO depends on the database dialect. This means that depending on the database dialect, IDENTITY columns, SEQUENCES or generator tables (TableHiLo) are required. As Hibernate has the before mentioned schema generation property this fact can be hidden to the user.
In SAP JPA, we are always using a table generator if GenerationType.AUTO is used. This allows for better portability across databases. It requires the table TMP_SEQUENCE. As we unfortunately do not have a schema generation capability, the user must create this table.

Discrepency while REPLICATING META DATA (for new DATA SOURCE) in BI side.

In R/3 I have created a simple TRANSACTIONAL data store based on an INFO QUERY.
I even checked the veracity of this data store using RSA3 to see whether it extracts data. Works perfectly.
I go to BW side. Click on the SAP module under which I have created the data source, right click, select 'REPLICATE' and click on it.
( I would love to post the screen shot here, but I think I may not be able to paste BMP files here).
I will write the contents of the POP-UP that appears,

Can someone explain the secret behind this?

That means there are total 3 new (not yet in BI) DataSources available, u wanted to replicate as 7.0 datasource (RSRS) or 3.x datasource (ISFS).
(other 2 datasources activated from RSA5, or created by other users under that SAP module)
If there is 1 new DataSource, u will get just TWO options.
1. as DataSource (RSDS)
2. as 3.x DataSource (ISFS)
After replication with option 1, u should activate datasource in BI, then create infopackages, transformation, DTP etc.

Connection/data source caching in JSC App Server?

Tried to change the data source for one of my apps (changed all data sources on all row sets). I got a connection error despite the fact that the IDE could see the data source.
I restarted the app server to no avail.
I finally stopped the app server AND restarted JSC and eveything started working again (except for the Conversion error I'm tracking down :-) ...

Did the connection error occur at runtime ?
If so, then it's not recommended to change the datasource
especially if you change databases. It's not impossible to make
the changes - you need to edit the Page bean constructor and the
constructor in the SessionBean and anywhere else you
initialize the rowset with the URL.
If you changed the database, then because vendors
map JDBC types differently, you may need to make
changes . Typically you'll see conversion errors when changing
the database.

Reason I ask this question is I read that if you have PI_BASIS 2005.1 then RDA is possible, but when I go into ROOSOURCE table in R/3 I do not see the Real time flag checked for any of the transactional Businees content extractors!!
Also does this mean that we need to set this flag manually and if so is this supported by SAP? please throw in expert your responses...

Question on Dynamic Query Data Source and Form Folders in Oracle Forms 6i

Hi there -
I have one interesting requirement in Oracle Forms.
This is what I wanted to do.
1. Have a LOV and Go button on Form.
2. From LOV, I will select a pre-defined custom table and click Go.
3. Based on the selected custom table, I have to populate the Block (Tabular Format).
4. User should be able to do update, delete, insert on this block.
5. User should be able to use the Oracle Form folders functionality (select only necessary column and save views etc. Std folder functionality).
6. If user selects a different custom table name in the LOV on top, I need to refresh the data from the block based on this new table. Remaining functionality should be as it is (steps 3 to 5).
You can see here, I am going to have dynamic query data source (Table Name as well as column mapping) on the block. I do not know before hand how many columns the user selected table has!
This is what I have planned for this so far but I have some major questions before I can move on with this design:
1. I am going to create a table structure with fixed number of column in form (40 cols assuming that the custom table will not have more that 40 cols). (Kind of limitation but it's okay as of now).
2. Dynamically populate the block based on the table name selected by the user from LOV. Dynamically change the table column names based on the table selected etc.
3. Perform insert, update, delete using PL/SQL package.
So far it looks okay.
Now my real question is,
Can user still be able to user "Folders" functionality here? I have never done this kind of development before and I doubt the dynamic column naming, dynamic column data source will really work for "folders"!
Also, I am not really sure whether user will be able to save these "folder" queries?
Okay so form experts, can you ppl suggest me if this is really going to work? Are there any better ways to do this?
Initially I tried to do this in OA Framework but I got stuck at because as per OAF developer guide "I cannot user OAF personalization for dynamic items, regions etc".

if i want use datasource for RDA , its support in r/3 side? so its wont support for flat file?
where can i check the data source will support for RDA or not?
once datasource replicated while creating infopackage need to check check box and dtp need to check RDA

goto transaction SE16
give ROOSOURCE in Table and execute.
in the next screen give ur DATASOURCE name and execute.
this will give the datsource settings check the realtime field if its checked then ur datasource is real time enabled.
else u can enable it by writing a small program.
goto se38
cerate an executable program with the following code
Tables : ROOSOURCE.
Parameters : P_OLTPSR LIKE ROOSOURCE-OLTPSOURCE.
UPDATE ROOSOURCE set REALTIME = 'X'
WHERE OLPTSOURCE = P_OLTPSR
and OBJVERS = 'A'.
When u execute this program it asks for datasource name , give ur datasource name and execute. it will real time enabled.
u can again check it in SE16.
