1 inch square screen HTML page while drilldown from BI to ERP
Hi,
We are trying to publish BI reports in the Portal server as Iviews.
As per the requirement we are drilling down to the ERP from the BI report using RRI.
1) We have an Iview in Controlling (Cost Center range: Transaction Drill down).
2) Once we drilled down to Period/Fiscal year and then Calendar Day value (BI side) we want
Further drill down to the ERP through BI functionality RRI. (ex: Goto  KSB1)
With the drill-down (BI to R/3 thru RRI), when you use the goto ksb1(t.code) function <b>another window opens, that is about 1 inch square on the screen</b>.
But our requirement is the new window should be in full screen.
<i>Note: If I am giving the Selection screen T.code (For Ex: - S_ALR_87012997: List:COST ELEMENT BY ORDER) in the RRI , then its showing the full screen, <b>but if I am giving the line item t.code s like (KSB1 or KOB1 with dynamically passing selection field values, for ex: cost center, cost element etc.)</b> its showing the <u><b>SMALL Screen</b></u>.</i>
Please suggest how to resolve this issue.

Building HTML page with JSP from different applications
Hi,
we need to build a HTML page with 2 JSPs. If both JSP were in the same Application
(Weblogic 8,1) there is no problem. But I have to use JSPs from differents web
applications, each JSP is in different war files.
How can I compose this page? How can I management the request object?

Populating HTML Page with fields from a Report

I think I have finally figured out how to format my question about customizing reports
I am using the Sample Applicaiton and I created a simple report (PAGE 20) using the DEMO_CUSTOMER table. The simple report shows the CUSTOMER_ID, CUST_FIRST_NAME, CUST_LAST_NAME
I created a blank page (PAGE 21) with an HTML Region. In the HTML region I have created an HTML Table with Two Columns and 3 rows:

On my report page 20, I created a link from the Customer ID and I wanted to know if I could populate the Table I created on Page 21 with say a P21_CUSTOMER_ID field and when I click the link on page 20 it redirects to page 21 and P21_CUSTOMER_ID = #CUSTOMER_ID# just like I would do for a formatted report. I added items to page 21 called P21_CUSTOMER_ID, P21_CUST_FIRST_NAME, P21_CUST_LAST_NAME
but I don't know how to get their values into the table that I created. Do I have to make an html form element and reference it? Make fields hidden? Not sure How to populate the table I created with the values that are passed into page 21 and any help would be appreciated. I am sure however I identify the variable I could then just use that same formatting and use Styles and Divs to make the page look like I want and just reference the same way, but unsure of how to do that.
Any assistance you can provide would be very much appreciated. I am trying to create a report view that looks like a web page with images, and the passed data would be populated throughout the HTML and not in a structured Tabular Format if that makes sense.

Assumption : You are getting values in P21_CUSTOMER_ID, P21_CUST_FIRST_NAME, P21_CUST_LAST_NAME
Edit your HTML table , and refer to the P21 items with &P21_CUSTOMER_ID. notation as follows

Can a menu link to .html pages?
I want to make a DVD that will start with a video introduction, and upon finishing the brief minute or so intro, it will display a menu screen.
1.) I would like the menu buttons to link to .html pages saved on the DVD. So after clicking on a link from the menu, it will open up a full-screen .html page.
2.) Each .html page will link to other .html pages and have embedded images, and short quitcktime video clip links that will open up in small windows when links are clicked.
3.) I need to have a link on each .html page that links back to the main dvd menu.
Can this be done? Any issues with doing something like this?
Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!Mark - you need to read up on DVD@ccess if you intend doing this through DVDSP. Yes, it is all possible, but you haven't quite got the way it works correct.
What happens is you embed a URL into a menu. When the menu is accessed (typically by a button from a previous menu) the link is activated and the resource is launched. This opens in a window in front of the DVD playback window. The DVD player continues to run in the background - so you need to allow for that when returning. The viewer will simply close the web browser window and be back at the DVD window - by then you should have made the @ccess menu 'time-out' and return to the previous menu.
You set up the HTML file (or whatever file you are using) in a folder on your Mac, and place it all within a parent folder. From within DVDSP you then use the property Inspector for the disc itself (click not he disc icon in the outline view) to specify a ROM folder. You browse for the parent folder you just created. Everything inside that will get added to the root level of the DVD, which is why you place your HTML inside a folder within that parent folder (unless of course, you don't mind your HTML file/s being scattered all over the root of the DVD).
You set the URL for the @ccess link by using the following path format:
file:///DVDname/ParentFolderName/filename.extension
So if your html file is called 'index' and it is in a folder called 'ROM' on your DVD called 'Project' then the URL you set in the menu would be:
file:///Project/ROM/index.html
This should then get activated (as long as you have enabled DVD@ccess links in your DVD Player software).
However, there are some caveats.
Whilst this will work quite well on a Mac, a PC user will have a wildly varied experience - for some the links will work. For some the links won't work, and for some, all links will launch the moment the first link is encountered... ALL PC users will need to install the DVD@ccess software (which will be on the built DVD by default (DVDSP includes it there for you), unless they have already done so previously (unlikely).
In order to maximise the experience for PC users and Mac users you should consider using Sonic's 'eDVD' to add the hyperlinks. This makes use of the Interactual player which has a far higher installed base in PCs, but will need installing in Macs. Again, this gets included on the disc when you use eDVD.
eDVD is a PC only app - you'll need to build your project and transfer the VIDEO_TS folder to a PC, add the links and then burn it to disc or use software such as Gear Pro to create a DLT. Hopefully Jim (WTS) will see this and give more advice on how to use eDVD.
Getting DVD@ccess working on a PC is a tricky thing to do - a lot depends on the PC software spec, and since you can't govern the user's choice in this, you are walking a tightrope of compatibility.
Of course, you could simply set some text into your menu to say that there is additional content on the disc, and let the user browse to it at their leisure instead of relying on embedded links... -

I have created a web help project. The project is working
fine. But I have been trying to do some R&D.
In the project's WebHelp folder (with in SSL folder) we have
all the HTML files. The main HTML page when opened from there opens
up with TOC and other navigation contents. But when we open any
other HTML page (other than main page) the TOC or navigation pane
is not displayed by default at all. It shows only "Show" hyperlink
at a corner. Only after we click it the Navigation pane is
displayed. Is there any way to make the HTML page to open by
default with navigation pane. Again I would like to underline that
this scenario is from SSL folder only.

with other forums where there are individuals that have egos the

description, just that I've seen it with great regularity in other

Hmmm, I may have found an easy way to accomplish this. Locate
a file in your project folder that is named whtopic.js. Open this
file in Windows Notepad. Tap the F3 key and search for the phrase
sType=="show".
You should see something similar to this:

Add a line to the code just above where you see var sTitle=
so the line now looks like this:

Close and save the file and test. There should be no need to
re-generate. You should also make a backup copy of your file so you

Parameter screen pops-up while moving between worksheets

I have a workbook with mutiple sheets. Everytime i navigate from one sheet to the other, teh parameter page pops-up !
I am using Discoverer 9i and have checked the "Allow only one value for allI have developed the workbook in the desktop version and am viewing it through Discoverer viewer. We have a custom parameter page that the user uses to enter parameters.
There are 4 parameters defined and I have checked all of them as "allow only one value for all sheets". I have also un-checked the "let the user enter mutiple values" check-box.
Even in the Disco desktop, I get the parameter page while moving from one sheet to the other. When depolyed on the web ( viewer), the parameter page pops up when the user navigates between worksheets.
How do I resolve this ? Is this a known bug or is there a patch available for both viewer and desktop ?

Page length problem in PDFs generated from HTML pages in Acrobat
I just spent an exhausting 2-1/2 hours on the phone with Adobe tech support (offshore) in order to get a 5 minute fix. I figured that I'd document it here in case another user has the same problem. (I'd checked the forums and a few e-mail lists and hadn't found a solution.)
When generating PDFs from HTML (Web) pages, Acrobat squeezed all of the text into the middle of a single page (with just the last inch or so of text on page 2). This resulted in pages that Acrobat identified as being 30", 40", even 60" long, and the printed results were unusable. I haven't been able to identify an event or a system change that caused this to happen; Acrobat had been generating PDFs properly before this trouble started.
THE FIX:
1. Start Acrobat and run the Repair Installation option from the Help menu.
2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0
and rename the Preferences file to PreferencesOld. A PC restart will be
required after this change.
3. Restart Acrobat. This creates a fresh Preferences folder.
4. Test creating PDFs from a single HTML page and from multiple pages.Thanks, Bernd, but where are these settings? While I'm writing, is there a setting to make an html file fit on one page in Acrobat?

I am trying to create a 508 compliant Pdf from a simple HTML page using the HTML to Pdf feature in Livecycle ES4 server. I was able to configure the service to generate tabbed Pdf, but the created Pdf has multiple accessibility issues.
Some of the issues encountered are: incorrect tab order, some links are not tabbable while others are, link text is being read “Blank”, some text is skipped while tabbing, missing alt text for images, page being rendered in the responsive(mobile) view, etc.
I have tried both the available approaches, of 1) providing a URL to create the PDF, and 2) to send the html document as a zipped file, with same results.
Attached is a sample PDF generated from a simple HTML page I created for demo.
My questions are:
Is it possible to generate 508 compliant (accessible) Pdf documents using Html to Pdf service from Pdf Generator? If yes, which settings might I be missing?

AnupI don't think it's possible to do this using a standard JavaScript script in Acrobat, since the newDoc function doesn't work with URLs.
The only option I can think of is to use an external automator that will call the Create PDF From Web Page dialog, paste the address from a file, and after the PDF file is created will continue to the next line.

Blank Screen while navigating from one screen to another in a web application.
While navigating through the screens of the web-based application, I get blank screen at times. The application menu bar is still visible and the header and footer jsps are also still available. The main processing frame alone goes blank. Once I get the blank screen, I am able to choose from the menu option and contine navigating through the screens.
The application has been deployed on WebSphere Application Server v6.0 and uses JDK 1.4.2. I have checked the application, server and systemerr logs. And there are no exceptions in any of the log files. There is no difference in the logs for a normal flow and the flow when the blank screen occurs.
The blank screen does not occur always. It occurs around 3 out of 10 times. If you consider a particular page, mostly it loads normally and very few times, the blank screen occurs.
Compression filter is being used and it gets invoked for every request. Size before and after compression also gets printed in the logs.
Could this be causing any issue in terms of memory handled or could any jsp timeout be happening, though there are no exceptions in the logs.Well, since no one has any ideas, here is my two cents worth:
Can you turn off compression and see if the problem goes away? If not, I suggest creating a small separate project with the same functionality as that part of the program that causes problems and see if you can duplicate it. Use System.out.println() in the java code and out.write() in the JSP pages throughout the java and JSP code to write to the log file or console as each section is run to see what section is causing problems. You can also consider commenting out sections of code in your JSP page to see if you can isolate the problem.
I had a similar problem with the screen being blank and this is what I found:
My JSP page had an include tag in it that included another JSP page. The outer JSP page was drawn and waited for the included JSP page to be drawn. The logic took several minutes to run and something timed out. The inner JSP page was never drawn. No log entry occurred. It appears that it was not Apache or Tomcat that caused the problem, but some firewall or similiar such device. If you have a firewall or similar device, see if the person who maintains it can temporarily set its timeout to a very long time (15 minutes) to see if the problem goes away. Apache and Tomcat probably also have a timeout feature too. You will have to read up on their configuration settings on how to set them.
By the way, each of those devices probably has its own log file you can read to see if its reporting an error. -

It is not possible to intract backend system from html alone, even we are not able to write java scripts too. So try to SAPNW to develope your application.
If you decide to create application via SAPNW then you can go with following steps,
1. Create application (Application, component, window and view)
2. Import model (it needs JCo details)
3. In controller create an object for function module which one you imported, bind it to model node, assign user name and password and use "exec" function to execute and get return values from backend system through another model node and display result as you wish.
4. Build, Deploy and Run your application

Viewing HTML page saved on the server from the browser

In my application i am having some HTML pages saved on the server. I had given an option to the user to view the HTML page from my application. behind the scene what i am doing is that the view request will get handled by a servlet and from that servlet iam locating the HTML page on the server directory and sending the HTML page to browser by using the Servlet OutputStream. The HTML page is shown on the browser but the attached images are not shown. The images are also there in the server directory and are refered in the HTML file correctly. When i directly open the HTML file then the images are shown correctly.
Can anyone suggest wat's wrong there.

}You have to undertsand how the browser handles images and other resources in a HTML page. In the HTML there is an image tag that has a url to an image which can be a reletive url or an absolute url (starts with a "/").
If the url is a relative url the browser interprets the url as being relative to the url currently displayed in the address field discarding the last element of the url . So if the url in the address bar is http://www.myserver.com/myapp/mypage.html and the relative url is images/myimage.jpg, the browser will submit a request to the server for http://www.myserver.com/myapp/images/myimage.jpg
Now let's say that you are call mypage.html from a servlet that has the url http://www.myserver.com/myapp/servlets/myservlet. Then when the browser tries to retrieve myimage.jpg it will use the url http://www.myserver.com/myapp/servlets/myservlet/images/myimage.jpg and since this is incorrect it will not be able to display the images.
One solution to this is to change all of the image urls to absolute urls. That is the start with a slash where the slash represents the start of the url after the application domain name. For example you used an absolute url for myimage.jpg it would look like /images.myimage.jpg and when accessing the page through the servlet url (http://www.myserver.com/myapp/servlets/myservlet) the browser will discard everything after http://www.myserver.com/myapp and look for the image at http://www.myserver.com/myapp/images/myimage.jpg which is the correct url.
A second solution is to use the HTML BASE tag which tells the browser not to interpret the image tag urls (and other resourses) using the current url in the address bar but to use the url supplied in the HTML BASE tag. The browser will still perform the same process for relative urls but now relative to the BASE tag url. Since the BASE tag url will be the same every time the page is accesssed the images should be correctly accessed no matter how the page is accessed (eg directly, using RequestDistpatcher or via your servlet) -
