10.2.0.4 database is possible on 11gr2 grid in Windows 2008 R2 server..?

Hi all,
can we installed 10.2.0.4 database on 11gr2 grid for windows server 2008 R2 server...?
kindly suggest any possible cases.

Hi Rajesh/all,
I searched lot and get conclude ie. 10.2.0.5 and later versions will support for windows 2008 R2 server. but available only 10.2.0.4. while i try to install database will get error like version not supported.
Here is my case...
i) My two application will support 11gr1database and rest two application support only 10gr2 database version. all application depend by only Windows server.
I installed 11gr2 grid in windows 2008 R2 server successfully.but it will not support the two applications.
consider the above and suggest to install 10gr2 for windows 2008 R2 server.

  • Oracle Client for Windows 2008 R2 server to connect to Oracle database 9iR2

    Hi,
We are running Oracle 9.2.0.7 on Sun solaris (64 Bit) 5.10 and trying to install client on new Windows 2008 R2 (64 - bit) server. (Before this 2008 R2 we were using Windows 2003 32 bit and 9iR2 client was working great.) I can't install 9iR2 clinet and I tried installing 10gR1, 10gR2 and 11gR1 but none of them worked. It is only allowing me to install 11gR2. When I installed 11gR2 client I am getting some 'overflow exception on an arithmetic operation' error.
1.) Do I have any choice for client installation or only 11gR2?
2.) Any solution for overflow error?
    Thanks,

May I know the reason why ODBC driver is not include in option like Runtime?Oracle software utilizes SQL*Net (not ODBC) to connect to Oracle RDBMS.
ODBC is not required by Oracle client software to connect to Oracle RDBMS.

  • Oracle Forms 6i(32-bit)  = Oracle database 10g R2 Windows 2008 R2 64-bit)

    We have Oracle database 10g R2 installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) (SERVER1)
We have Oracle Forms 6i (patch 4a) installed on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) (SERVER2)
I am not able to connect from SERVER2 to SERVER1, either through SQLPLUS or FORMS BUILDER.
    Its giving some DLL error.
    Is it because forms 6i (32-bit) cannot connect to a 64-bit database on a 64-bit OS ?

There might be problems with 8i clients (like forms 6i) if the database uses AL32UTF8 characterset indeed (if you need unicode and you need to run forms 6i use UTF8 instead) but this should not be related to the platform of the database.
The platform of the database server really should not matter as the forms runtime talks via SQL*Net with the database server and in the end it does not matter if the database runs on linux, windows whatsoever or unix 32 or 64 bit for the client. The only problem you'll encounter is that SQL*Net also changes with versions and thus "older" clients might not be able to communicate with "newer" servers and vice versa.

    Hello,
You may check for the exact Oracle Release (with four digit) and scroll down to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 on the link below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
In Windows *2008* you need to be in *10.2.0.3* (for 32 bit OS) or *10.2.0.4* (for 64 bit OS).
In Windows *2008 R2* you need to be in *10.2.0.5*.
    Hope this help.

  • Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit)

First of all my windows is not genuine, but on my friend's desktop oracle download and installation  worked fine, he chose "create and configure database" options, and it works very well on his desktop, though his windows is also illegitimate. In my case, when I select "Create and configure database" option and pressed 'next",
(Go to my blog to see it with snapshots: Computer Science: Oracle database 11g release 2 installation problem on windows 7 (64-bit))
it asks to select class, I select "Desktop class" and pressed "next". The moment I pressed "next", the whole setup thing disappeared like it was never started. I searched for all possible reasons for why its not getting installed on my laptop, I used registry cleaner s/w,  deleted 25 GB of data to create free space if it were the problem, increased the virtual memory to increase the space for RAM, I did almost everything to get this setup working, but I found no success with the "Create and Configure database" option
    and
    then
I chose a "database software only" option and chose to store in a folder w/o spaces. This way, I got database s/w only and then later I found "Database configuration Assistant (DBCA)"  from windows START button and clicked to create and configure database manually. The steps are pretty much interactive and doesn't involve much brainstorming.
    The values I filled for
    1) Global Database Name :  orcl
    2) System Identifier : orcl
    3) I chose common password for both SYS and SYSTEM
    4) while on Enterprise Manager Configuration step, It asked me to create and configure listener in oracle home, so for that too, I typed "netca" in windows START menu and clicked it. There I added a listener.
    5) I chose a Storage area which was the Oracle-home itself i.e. where our installation files goes , in my case it is : C:\oracle_base\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\oradata
    6) Then after few more nitty-gritty clicks, we are set to go !
Finally to write SQL code and to create your first TABLE , type "sqlplus" in windows "START" menu and click it when it appears. A command-prompt like window appears , which will ask you for username and password, so here they are :
    Username : sys/ as sysdba
Password : (its the one you created in step 3 stated above )
After this you are ready to write your first SQL command.

Is this your solution to your original post at Oracle database 11g release 2 installation on windows 7 (64-bit) ?
Pl be aware that you should not create any custom objects in SYS or SYSTEM schema - you should create any such objects in a separate custom schema.

Grid computing is a style of dynamic or semi-dynamic CPU and application resource management.
Applications generally have to be written to conform to the Grid environment to be able to utilize it properly.
Oracle provides Grid-capable resources: the Grid-capable database is called 'Real Application Cluster' and the Grid-capable middle tier is called the 'Oracle Application Server' operating in a cluster mode.
Oracle also has somthing called the Oracle 'Grid Control'
The Grid Control is somewhat inappropriately named as it is neither a Grid, nor is it a Control - instead it is a monitoring tool that is designed to monitor Oracle's primary technologies (databases, app servers) as well as the servers and related disks. (In the case of the database, it can also do the admin, but for app servers, etc, it simply calls the appriopriate admin tool.)
SO ... you could deploy Grid Computing on your 20 standdalone servers, but it does require some thought. You could get some more information about ORacle's solution at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/grid/index.html
... and you could easily deploy Oracle's Grid Control to monitor, and help manage, you existing 20 servers. For that go to http://otn.oracle.com and look for "Enterprise Manager"

In iCal and Notifications on a notebook, is it possible to expand the notes window to make it easier to read and write notes? In the past, I have used Outlook calendar and tasks and I was able to expand the windows which allowed me to put a great amount of details into either the notes section in events and tasks. It would be great to be able to do this in iCal and Notifications as well. I am using a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.8. Thank you very much for assistance with this.

New database server will be 64 bit Oracle database server 11g.
Somebody told me export import doesn't carry archieve logs therefore is there any way to move and upgrade the database without any lost?
    Thanks for your help

I'm going to move and upgrade my 32 bit Oracle database server 10g to another 64 bit windows 2008 server.
New database server will be 64 bit Oracle database server 11g.
Somebody told me export import doesn't carry archieve logs therefore is there any way to move and upgrade the database without any lost?Yes, in export/import, you will create a new database and import. The question is why you want to prefer export/import?
is it source database 32bit is in different OS platform? If not directly after installation you can upgrade the database. using DBUA

  • I run Dev 6i on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit,the forms are working fine after connection to the database but the reports continue to request for username, password and database connection string every time i try to open a report.

I receive REP-0501: Unable to connect to specified database. I run developer 6i application on windows 2008 r2. I have applied the nn60.dll and nnb60.dll files to the \BIN directory. The forms are working fine. The reports will only display after the correct user id (username, password and database connection string) is supplied. This is happening to all attempts to open already complied form. Pls, help.

If you are connecting to an Oracle 11g database, remember that by default the passwords are case sensitive. To disable that, run
    ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;
