10.2.0.4 + Patches - Relink error (and finally SIGSEGV)
HP-UX 11.23 IA64
I upgrade to 10.2.0.4 manually (using catupgrd.sql). The "naked" 10.2.0.4 worked fined.
Then I downloaded the 30 single patches and used MOpatch 1.9 to apply them. The final relink failed with

I´m actually restoring the old "naked" version. The problem seems to be caused by the merge patch 7228971 (OPTIMIZER MERGE LABEL REQUEST ON TOP OF 10.2.0.4 FOR SAP (#3)) because this seems to be the only one changing/updating kko.o. Are the any known issues in this area?
I will try to apply all the patches again without that one and see if it helps. This is a testsystem and not critical.

OIM after BP12 patch system error and logging not working
Hi,
I am using Weblogic 10.3.2 and need to install OIM. I have installed the 9.1.0.1 and then the patchset to 9.1.0.2. Then I have installed the bundle patch BP07 and everything was ok.
Finally I have installed the BP12: now i am unable to log in the OIM admin panel ( system error ) and i cannot connect with the design console (NullPointerException). The worst part is that OIM does not write a log file anymore, so i can't determine what's wrong. What should i do?
thx in advanceno errors, everything fine. The webapps (xellerate and nexaweb) are started normally.
As an additional information, i just tried to revert to BP07, it still doesn't work. -
Quicktime playback error and Final Cut Pro
Hi,
I'm having a problem watching a quicktime movie that I made in Final Cut Pro. I'm working on a project at school and the computers there are all G5's. I put the film together at school and I exported the movie using the default settings in Final Cut for quicktime for the web at the medium bandwidth level. Part of the assignment is to post a clip from the film on for playback on the net. The film is playable on computers with quicktime 7 installed, like the ones at school or my PC which has the latest version of quicktime on it. But on my Ibook I only have quicktime 6.5.3. I have an older Ibook, it's a G3 700Mhz running OSX version 10.2.8. The latest version of quicktime requires 10.3.9+. When I click the link for the clip it loads on a new page and then gives me an error message saying quicktime is missing a component and it's not available to download, I click ok and the video appears as a white box with the playback controls at the bottom. The audio works fine but there's no picture.
Is there an update somwhere for quicktime 6 that will fix the problem? How to Identify the file*, video and audio** format of a movie or sound file
In QuickTime Player
Open the file
Window menu > Show movie info
Look in the Format: field
Note that QuickTime Player may fail to display any audio information for some files.
In MPlayer OSX:
Show the playlist window if it isn't already visible.
Drag the movie file into the playlist window.
Select the movie in the list
Click the "i" button for info
In VLC
Open the movie in VLC
Window menu > Info
Click the black triangles so that they point down
Note that VLC does not display the file format, only the format of the content (audio and video) within the file. A file ending in .divx for instance, is probably in actuality an avi file but VLC doesn't show that information - MPlayer will and QuickTime Player will - if - QuickTime Player will open the file to begin with. -
Hi,
I have two Windows ACS's which I need to replicate between each other - this happened in the past (when both at the same lower patch level) , but the original Primary one of the pair one has had to be down graded to it's original level due to install errors. Both are now independant ACS's
To sort out the lack of replication we need to patch the planned PR box from 4.2 (0) Build 124 to the same level as the planned DR which is at 4.2 (1) Build 15 Patch 4.
We've tried installing Patch ACS-4.2.0.124-9-SW on the 4.2 (0) Build 124 as we were informed (some time ago) that it is required before running the ACS-4.2.1.15.4-SW.exe patch.
The patch installed, but when we ran CSUpdate as per the instructions in Acs-4_2_0_124_9-SW-Readme.txt , we tried both the -install option and the -upgrade switch and got a [1] [169]:SL:loadHosts - execution failed Can not load HostDB error. (See screen shot)
After this the ACS services (in Windows Services ) wouldn't start, even after a server reboot.
Should we leave this patch 9 and install cumlative patch 17 instead and then run ACS-4.2.1.15.4-SW.exe patch ?
The read me notes for cumlative patch 4.2.1.15.4.17 looks like it might require Patch 9 as it only lists bug fixes from Patch 10 upwords (although it mentions a refix for 9 right at the bottom of the page).
ThanksYou may upgrade directly to patch 17, this one doesn't ask to apply csupdate.exe before the cumulative patch.

Relinking Forms and Reports executables
Hello All,
I am relinking forms and reports, using below commands, as part of Java 1.7 downgrade.
cd $ORACLE_HOME/forms/lib32
$ make -f ins_forms.mk sharedlib install
cd $ORACLE_HOME/reports/lib32
$ make -f ins_reports.mk install
What i found is, the timestamp of the files under these directories($ORACLE_HOME/forms/lib32 and $ORACLE_HOME/reports/lib32) is not that of today rather it's old timestamp. How to make sure that I have completed this task(relinking forms and reports executables) successfully?

Adpatch relink Errors..
Hi All,
I am getting the following relink errors while applying the pre patch 4229931 for the CU2 patch for 11.5.10
Relink of module "MSTCPP" failed.
Relink of module "MSTNEW" failed.
Relink of module "MSTSDELW" failed.
Relink of module "MSTSNMON" failed.
Relink of module "MSTSNWRK" failed.
Relink of module "MSTSQLDR" failed.
What will be the possible cause of this..?
How can I reapply the patches..?
Many thanks in advance...
Best regards...Check adrelink.log file for the exact error.
Patch 4229931 has been superseded and it is already included in patch 4712852 (11i.AD.I.4). I suggest you go with patch 4712852 instead. -
Primavera P6 8.4 Patch 1 errors
Hello,
I bought P6 Professional standalone version 8.3 and then upgraded to 8.4.
I am trying to install patch 1 now and have got two questions for it.
Q1 - While trying to install Patch 1, the setup wizard ends prematurely due to an error (no details available on error). How can I fix this?
Q2 - After following the steps for upgrading database, Schema version is displayed as PMDB,0840.0001.0001.0002 instead of PMDB,0840.0001.0001.0008. What could be going wrong?
P6 installation detail from 'About' menu option is attached just in case you need it. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!Change the script, not the database user names, that's a way bigger deal. You can actually just run the "GRANT" part of the script manually at the sqlplus prompt too:
SQL>GRANT EXECUTE ON sys.DBMS_REPUTIL TO admprm$pm
2 /
SQL> GRANT SELECT ON sys.DBA_EXTENTS TO admprm$pm,privprm$pm
2 /
Also FYI, just checked with support, the README for Patch Set 1 on PPM has an error:
PS1:
Patch 19933136
README: https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download?type=readme&aru=18216739
Reference to database version in README is incorrect. Should be: PPMDB,0840.0001.0001.0002 (alerting development to this) -
Install patch 8333939, error occurs
Dear All,
My customer trying to apply patch 8333939, but error occurs.
Referred
Note 1224313.1: Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in, Release 4.0 (Doc ID 1224313.1)
when running in the Section 5: Preparing Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control
and installing patch 8333939, error occurs:
"the staging area needs oracle universal installer version 11.1.0.7.0 or late"
EBS version: 11.5.10.2
Platform: Linux x86-64
I have following questions:
1. Is this patch need to install on DB or APP?
2. Customer has two OUI home, does he need to upgrade OUI home to 11.1.0.7.0 or later? How? Is there a patch number or something?
[applprod3@ITEEBSTE oui]$ cat oraparam.ini |grep OUI_VERSION
OUI_VERSION=10.1.0.6.0
[applprod3@ITEEBSTE oui]$ pwd
/EBSTEST/PROD3/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/oui
[applprod3@ITEEBSTE oui]$ cat oraparam.ini |grep OUI_VERSION
OUI_VERSION=10.1.0.6.0
[applprod3@ITEEBSTE oui]$ pwd
/EBSTEST/PROD3/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/oui
Thanks,
JackieHussein,
I have a question.
Is this means customer need to execute following steps first
3. Install Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Grid Control (11.1.0.1.0)
3.1. Install OEM on the OMS server
3.2. Install OEM Agents on the Targets (where EBS is installed)
3.2.1. Targets having the same OS version as the OMS server
3.2.2. Targets having different OS versions as compared to the OMS server
Then, patch 8333939 can be applied successfully?
Because refer to
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17559_01/em.111/e18708/T506934T511454.htm
Section "Running Oracle Universal Installer"
It says:
Stop all the Management Services before installing the pack to a Management Service. Management Services will be restarted automatically after the pack has been installed.
Stop the OMS.
$PROMPT> $ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl stop oms
Note: If your EM Repository (EM Database) is on the same machine, it must be left running. Only OMS and Agent services need to be taken down.
Set the environment variable ORACLE_HOME to ORACLE_HOME of Management Service 11.1.0.1 as shown here:
export ORACLE_HOME=/d1/oracle/em11g/oms11g
Then unzip this patch and install it. Am I right?
My customer's purpose is to install EM on R12, does
Note 1224313.1: Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in, Release 4.0 (Doc ID 1224313.1)
is the correct note?
Thanks,
Jackie

Hi hussein,
I often encouter patch linking error like the ff:
An error occurred while relinking application programs.
Contunue as if it were successful [No] : YesAnd I always respond to it as "Yes". Is there any bad implications in doing this?
How do I manually relink the programs again.
Thanks
mskHi,
I can not keep track anymore which program got relink error, so adadmin relink everything? You can relink any executable file via adadmin or manually. However, I would not recommend you skip the error as the issue could be relevant to main executable files which are used by the application (for example, if the patch fails to relink "f60webmx" executable file, you will not be able to login to the application). Always try to fix the error before proceeding with the patch (unless it can be afforded).

Linux:
rpm -qa|grep openmotif
openmotif-2.1.30-4_MLI 7.1
openmotif-2.1.30-11
openmotif-devel-2.1.30-11
I am running SUSE Linux
Is it important to have only the above.....
Could I not have the latest version of openmotif ?
Please guide meHi
This is my current situation.
I installed the patches recommended by you.
Currently the output of rpm -qa|grep motif is
oracle@test-app:/apps11510/dev/devora/8.0.6/bin> rpm -qa|grep motif
openmotif-libs-2.2.2-519.4
openmotif-2.2.2-519.4
openmotif21-libs-2.1.30MLI4-119.4
I am applying patches as per document 125767.1
I think I must have made some mistake in the sequence of steps or some other error....
First let me give some details about my environment
We have two servers
a) test-db
This runs Oracle database and
Reports Server and
Concurrent Manager and
Reports review agent
b) test-app
This runs Forms Metric Server and
Forms Server Listener and
Forms Metric client and
Report Review agent and
HTTP Web server and
Discoverer Server and
Fulfillment server
I am confident that I have correctly followed all steps 1 - 5 of the
document 125767.1
Now step 6
I have installed all the following patches on ONLY test-app
6194129 and
7343387 and
7156414 and
6125732 and
6857221 and
3830807 and
4586086 ( This is where it failed)
Question - Should I have installed these patches on both servers test-app and test-db
Question - should all the patches mentioned in the document be applied
(6194129,7343387,7156414,6125732,6857221,3830807,4586086)
as part of step 6 and step 7 and then move to step 8 ? -

N1SM 1.3.3 OS Load gives syntax error and drops into interactive install
Hi
I am trying to load Solaris 10 u4 onto a T1000 and a X4100.
This is my first installation of N1SM.
When I give the load command the T1000 will boot off the network, but after a while I very
briefly see a syntax error and a line about using US Keyboards, then the installation goes
into interactive mode rather than unattended.
This is very frustrating.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going wrong?
I have installed N1SM on Solaris 10 U4 x86 and have the recommended patch bundle installed.
ThanksNo ... it will stay as IDR (Interim Diagnostic Relief - http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=IDR+site%3Asun.com ) afaik
If you want it, ask Sun for it ... official patch will not be released for it yet ... and I wouldn't count on official patch so soon ...
If you have a support for N1SM ... ask for the IDR , it's no. is IDR137229-01 (x86) & IDR137228-01 (sparc) , not sure about the linux one ...
