10.3.1.1779 causes three out of four of my email accounts to no longer download new messages (I consider it bricked)

I started using my mothballed and unlocked Q10 a week ago, and unfortunately it was set to Automatically Download and Install Software Updates.
After updating to 10.3.1.1779 I noticed three out of my four email accounts aren't downloading new email messages.
The only way to get new email messages is to delete the email account and then create it again.  The problem is this is a temporary fix, and after a day or so the email accounts will stop refreshing.
I have the same issue with my new (few week old) Passport (10.3.1.1372).  Blackberry support indicated this is a known issue and all I can do is wait for an OS update.
In fact I took the SIM from the Passport and put it into my mothballed Q10, because as far as I'm concered a Blackberry that can't download new email messages is a bricked smartphone.
I will mothball the Q10 again with my brand new (weeks old) ATT Passport.  They will sit gathering dust for months+ until the OS gets fixed.
Luckily I have a Z30 and Z10 to use, and they have old OS 10 versions without this bug.
Blackberry better get this fixed ASAP.  I'm actually considering switching to Iphone because of this, and I'd never thought I'd say that.  A smartphone that can't reliably download email is a brick, it can't be trusted, there is almost no point in carrying it.
I can wait a month or two, after that I'll be rethinking my use of Blackberry.
What would the average person do with this problem, they don't have five unlocked BB10 devices like I do.  They only have one.  They will have to stop using their BB and get another device.
I'm not sure how to back out the OS version.  I'll look into that next.  I already miss the Q10.

Now I now know exactly what is happening, however don't know how to permanently fix the issue.
What is happening, is duplicate Inbox's are created for the account on the BB.
I discovered this by pressing the "v" on the top of the displayed account.
When you do this you can see Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, etc.
I notice > 1 Inbox.  Actually this morning on my Q10, I had two Inbox's, now three.
None of them are green icons with a circular set of arrows.
If I'm missing a received email on the currently displayed Inbox, I'll find it in another of the Inboxes.
This is a total pain in the butt.  I hope Blackberry knows this is an issue.
I'm not even sure how to report it, without paying for support !
For now I'll delete, then add back the account, to atleast start fresh with one Inbox.  I'm sure multiple Inboxes will show up over time.

    I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 31.3.0. I know how to create a message filter to set up an auto reply message, but cannot get Mozilla to automatically download new message and auto reply with the message in the filter unless I manually check for new messages, that is the only way to make it work. I have looked online and can't seem to find an answer to this particular issue. According to anything that I have found, I have the correct boxes checked in server settings: check for new messages at startup, automatically check for new messages, check for new messages every x amount of minutes. It's one thing to have to leave my computer on and Thunderbird open to make this work, but to have to manually check for new messages to get the auto response to work defeats the whole purpose of having an auto reply, as I use them for vacations, holidays, etc. I have wondered if there are any security settings that are causing this issue, but if so, I don't know what changes to make to them.     I do find it a bit odd that Thunderbird is not getting mail on schedule, perhaps you have an add-on or anti virus program that prevents that.
    Holding shift while you start Thunderbird will start with add-ons disabled to check if mail come automatically.

    You say that not having such a setting in Thunderbird is something that needs fixing. This idea comes on the whole because Outlook has such an option. what most people are not aware of it only works with Exchange server. There is no "vacation response" in server mail specifications so every server implements it differently.
    Just as all cars have a radiator, you can not take any radiator and just put it in, they are subtly different even though they perform the same purpose. Same goes for the various vacation responders, They perform the same purpose but they differ between email server software brands.
    Thunderbird leaves it to the server end to expose the functionality, as they are really the only ones who understand what they did. Outlook exposes the option and mostly greys it out.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
    The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
    The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
    Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
    Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
    Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

    We have quite a few users who can release emails. We need to find out who released an encrypted email. When we track the encrypted message through message tracking it shows it was manually released but no credentials are provided. I checked the help command for any useful commands when I ssh'd but nothing seemed useful. Last, findevent, nothing showed who released it.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    You will need to use 'grep' from the CLI of your appliance(s) in order to view the mail_logs and gui_logs.  Use "released" in the mail_logs to get the timeframe of when the mails in question were released.  (You may need to verifiy the MID for the mails in order to verify the particular ones in question.)  
    Enter the regular expression to grep.

    Then use 'grep' again to search the timeframe in gui_logs.  This should display who carried out the action, or what userID they were logged in with --- showing "user:<userID>" in the log line.

    Drawing a blank... How do I clean out unwanted email addresses when I open a new message and start typing a name? What do you call that? Man I am getting old. So a new message, I start typing, say Matt, and all the previous emails with an M start appearing.

  • What causes "Timed out server" in WL Cluster and a question about session in WL Cluster

              We are using Weblogic 5.1 with SP 8. We have been encountering a problem in our
              clustered environment. We setup our (clustered)environment to have 3 instances(WL1,
              WL2, WL3) of weblogic running in one box. When one instance, let say WL1, responds
              to a request(1st request for a session), the session is binded to that instance
              till the session is terminated/expired. Which means succeeding request for that
              session can only be served by WL1(we tried stopping WL1 but WL2 and WL3 wont accept
              the request--which only causes the page to time out). Shouldnt it behave in such
              a way that other instances can get serve the request(failover)?
              Also, occasionally we encounter "Time out server" in one of the instance of WL.
              When this happens, that instance no longer takes in requests. Would anyone know
              what causes "Time out server"? Does it only happen in clustered environment?
              Need some help ASAP.

              What are the IP addresses/hostnames of your three instances? What hostname are
              you using in your http requests? Is your DNS configured to do failover?

    I invoke the following statement:
    select count(*) as total from table1
    where table1 is large(30000 rows), total size of the database is more than 20GB.
    The above statement will cause time out error. How to solve the problem?

    Hallo chcw,
    a timeout in a table with 30.000 records is very unusual (for a simple SELECT COUNT). From my point of view Dan is on the right way and you will have a typical blocking scenario.
    1. if you have LOBs they won't be part of a SELECT COUNT (either its a heap of a clustered index)
    2. Microosft SQL Server will ALWAYS use the smallest index for such a simple SELECT
    3. if it is a heap you will run into a blocking scenario if someone is updating records and transaction has not committed.
    4. Check the isolation level of the transactions - but I expect the standard which is "read committed".
    Just a demonstration of "SELECT COUNT" will work whether it is a clustered index or a heap. The next script will create a heap with a LOB and additional attributes:

    Id INT NOT NULL IDENTITY(1,1),
    n1 INT NOT NULL,
    n2 SMALLINT NULL,
    c1 CHAR(250) NOT NULL,

    Keep in mind that we have a HEAP and NO indexes! To check the IO i use the following command befor any of the following examples:

    Let's start with a first try and you will check as a result the produced IO depending on the affected table partitions:

    As you can see from the result the LOB-data won't be attached only the "in-row-data" are affected (which are stored in 2508 pages. The reason is a quite simple one: Microsoft SQL Server uses different allocation units for in-row-data and LOB

    and run the SELECT COUNT again with the following IO-output:
    Table 'foo'. Scan count 1, logical reads 69, ...
    WOW - only 69 pages have to be read. The explanation is a quite simple one - now we have an index which is quite small. Microsoft SQL Server WILL use the smallest index of a table to scan the number of records. Let's try it again with n2 which is a smallint
    (2 bytes)
    CREATE NONCLUSTERED INDEX ix_foo_n2 ON dbo.foo (n2);
    GO
    The IO will be 62 (or less) because MORE index records a fitting to one data page!
    Conclusion is that either you have small record size or long record size - The query optimizer will always use the smallest index for the execution (that's maybe why Visahk has asked for the execution plan).
    I don't believe it is because of the "huge amount of data" but - as Dan has pointed out - it HAS TO BE a blocking scenario which can have multiple reasons. For demonstration of a blocking scenario open SSMS and start in the query windows with the following
    command(s):
    BEGIN TRANSACTION
    UPDATE dbo.foo
    SET c1 = 'This is my name'
    WHERE Id = 10000;
    -- What locks do we have now in the database
    SELECT resource_description,
    resource_associated_entity_id,
    request_mode,
    request_type
    FROM sys.dm_tran_locks AS DTL
    WHERE resource_database_id = DB_ID() AND
    resource_type != 'DATABASE';
    Your result should look like that (with differences in the entity_id and resource descriptions :)
    The above pic demonstrates the "locking chain". As you can see the slot 7 on PAGE 82400 has an exclusive lock. This means that NO OTHER request can currently obtain another lock to it!
    Now open a second query window and run a SELECT COUNT... - it will not finish!
    The reason is that the second requests has to wait for the release of the locked resources by the first transaction! Leave the statement and change back to the first transaction and finish the transaction by cancellation of the query. In the moment the locks
    have been released the second query will finish immediate.
    So - from my point of view - Dan has given the correct answer. Against wide spreaded statements a heap won't block the whole table exclusivly but - as in a cluster, too - only the row itself (see the 7 which is the slot where the record exists).

    What exactly does this mean? Your iMac doesn't authorize anything. Are you getting an error message or what message are you getting with regard to authorizing? The iPad is not authorized? What?

  • Email account setup failed & now email account locked out

    I tried setting up my Blackberry Playbook (OS 2.0) with my work email account.  This failed for all three types of connections - Exchange, IMAP, and POP.
    Now an "external" server is trying to connect with that account at the place I work (University of Lethbridge) and still failing but causing account to be locked out.
    The IT department has traced the IP to 68.171.232.33.rdns.blackberry.net
    Evertime they "unlock" the account, it becomes locked again within seconds, because of requests from that IP to access my user account (which is also my email account credentials).
    I have tried shutting down the Playbook, but this does not help.
    I have wiped the Playbook and re-installed the operating system and upgraded to version 2.0 again, but again this has not helped.
    I have accessed my Blackberry account, but there is nothing to edit or change, regarding the email settings that I tried to use to connect to my email account at the U. of L.
    Any suggestions?

    I had no problem setting uo a live.com account, but had issues with a POP 3 server, although I did'nt get "locked out". I found some advice in the official balckberry forums. Something to do with resetting the incoming port to 110. The second night i used the PB, I got it to operate correctly. Good luck, I am impressed with the functionality of the PB, but the POP 3 server was a little testy.

    Four users share a single Thunderbird email account (version 24.5.0) on their four respective computers. Each user is represented by a tag color to designate which emails they are responsible for. One user is having trouble seeing when their tag is used by the other three users, the email appears untagged. However, the other three users see it as tagged. Likewise, when that one person uses the tag, the other three cannot see the email as being tagged. This is not an issue when the other three tags are used between the four people.
    We have checked that we are all using the exact same color to represent the tag, and that we are all using the same IMAP settings. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

    Are you sure the odd one out is IMAP? sounds like it is pop to me.

    I have two iMacs, an iPhone, and an iPad.  All use the same email address but the new iMac would only let me set up the email account as an imap account. On this iMac I can only see three weeks worth of emails.  On the other iMac, iPhone, and iPad, this email address is set up as a pop account and I can see emails as far back as three years.  I use Yosemite on the new iMac and I cannot find out how to change the settings to let me see more than three weeks worth of emails.  This is an att&t email account which is basically a Yahoo account.

    Nope. It will reset all settings. For fix errors.
