10.6.4 incompatibilities, Word, Daylite, Mail

My machine updated yesterday. Today Word froze the machine and needed a power cycle (pull the plug)
Daylite 9.10 mail integration no longer works

Could you not force quit when Word froze?

  • Cannot copy and paste from Word into Mail

I cannot copy and paste from Word into Mail. Neither from using the keyboard shortcuts, or using the Menu function. I can copy and paste from other applications into Mail- but for some reason, text copied from a Word document (both in .txt and .doc formats) will not paste into an open email. Anyone else have this issue? It's a new issue. I used to be able to do this easily.

I had similar issues starting about the same time or within the past week. However, I can copy and paste, it just takes considerably longer than it used to before. Copying something from a web page into Word could take up to 30 seconds now on my computer but it shows a busy mouse pointer while it is loading, then clicks/pops when it loads into the Word document, but then actually takes about another 5 to 10 seconds to appear in the Word document. I have no idea why it is delaying now when it did not do it before, but since it is still going into the document I am living with it for now. Are you waiting long enough to see if it appears?

  • Why does excel, word and mail open when I turn on my Mac?

When I start my Mac Pro, excel, word and mail open.  Can this be stopped?

First of all, open the Apple menu (at the top left of the screen) > About this Mac, and tell me what OS X version you have.
If it's 10.7 or 10.8, check that all of those applications are closed when you turn off the computer. OS X Lion and Mountain Lion reopen the apps that were opened in the next startup. To disable this, just go to the Apple menu > Shut Down, untick "Reopen windows when logging back in", and turn off your computer, so they shouldn't open again

    Some questions:
Which version of office were you using before? 2003?
Are the data files on a network, or on your local machine? If they are on a network, can you make a copy of one of them on your local machine and try again?
Can you open the files directly in Excel? What extension do they have (.xls, or something else?) I am wondering whether access to other file types has been left blocked on your machine but is allowed on your colleague's machine.
Are you just opening the mail merge main document and seeing this message? If so, do you see the same thing if you start with a new document and try to connect to one of these data sources?
Can you confirm that the message is about Access even though you are trying to connect to an Excel file?
(Also, office 2007 has some new stuff - that let's you specify that certain folders are "trusted" . I don't think that ever affected MailMerge but it may be as well to make sure that your documents and data sources are in trusted locations).
Also worth trying to start Word in "Safe mode" - see, e.g. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word-help/work-with-office-safe-modes-HP010140792.aspx

  • Since upgrading to Lion on start multiple programs open (word, excel, mail, power point) any fixes?

Since upgrading to Lion every time I start my Mac  multiple programs open (word, excel, mail, power point) any fixes?

Yeah, but when it CRASHES  and you have to hold the power button, all the apps restart.  I have 8GB and it's swap-city.
To make matters worse, it appears there's a bug in Lion Mail.  It opens a compose window for every email I sent in the previous session.  We're talking dozens and dozens of windows.
Maybe try posting your own question on this as it is unrelated to this post. Never seen it before, so if you require help, then open a new topic.

  • HP 2480 all in one printer will not print documents, i.e., Word, e-mail, etc.

I have installed the Printer diagnostic utility and the test page printed, so I thought my problem was solved.  However, the printer still will not print anything!  I have tried pictures, Word documents, e-mail documents, etc.  The printer was working fine a week ago, and I have restored the computer to an earlier time, but nothing has fixed the problem!

I have the same problem with HP Photosmart C4750!!
    Anybody have solution?

  • Why can't I share word documents directly from Word to mail any more?

    Hi all
I just wondered if anyone could help with this annoying problem. It is probably to do with Mail, but it manifests itself in MS Word (latest version, updates complete).
I use to be able to share Word docs directly into Mail, using hte file>share>email as attachment but for a few weeks now I have not been able to do this. What I get is mail opens (or my MBP switches to the space I have Mail open in) and I get a new blank mail message, but in Word I get a rainbow wheel and it no longer attaches the document directly into the mail message.
    Has anyone come across this?
I have managed to get it working a couple of times with a re-start, but it just goes back to the fault I described above.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dave

Check out the discussion here on this same problem https://discussions.apple.com/message/20229092#20229092
Looks like the key is to repair permissions and then restart.

  • Problem pasting text from Word into Mail

When I compose text in Word and paste it into Mail, paragraphs are separated by spaces that weren't in the original Word document and I have to do a lot of work to get rid of them. If I compose or paste the text in TextEdit and then copy the message into Mail, there's no problem. Is there a fix so I can just compose my messages in Word and then transfer them into Mail?

Last month I started a message thread on what may be the same issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11083007
There's a mention there of the Mail menu option Format -> Make Plain Text, which may help you.
I filed a "bug report" with Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html) about quirky spacing in Mail messages and the lack of any editing feature to control such spacing. Maybe you'd want to do the same.

  • Word document/mail merge with values from Reports

    Hi All gurus
    Using apex 4.1.1 , linux , 11gr2
Basically I have requirement to generate a Word doc (letter to a Word mail merge) from a button/navigation link pressed on Apex page which will gather data from the report and fill in values in appropriate place in Word doc.
Is this even possible with Apex with/o BI Publisher
I have Fop installed and tested , PDF works great but excel and RTF is not reading the encoding on attachment download.
Any help gratefully appreciated as always !
PS I am aware of new PDF feature in 4.2.2 but upgrade is just not the scope right now.
    Thanks

    Hi, Tony:
I am working with Hunk09 on this problem. I checked the demos of this PL/SQL lib, it looks powerful, yet we need a short time solution considering our schedule, as our request is just to insert some values into a static RTF document so user can print letters in batch by clicking link and downloading RTF file. I noticed our legacy system is using owa_util.mime_header following with htp.p to produce file, does APEx support this still? Also you have any hint about providing download link in APEX?
    Thanks.

  • Word 2007 mail merge : problem with mixed portrait and landscape orientations

    Hi there,
    I have a 3 pages document Word 2007 file
This is a mail merge I want to export in PDF using Adobe Acrobat Printer,
then send "big" PDF to printing.
    page 1 is PORTRAIT
    page 2 is PORTRAIT
    page 3 is LANDSCAPE
In PDF pages 1 and 2 are perfectly fine, inside an A4 format (width=210 height=297mm or something)
but for page 3, system changed to a "double" sized page (A3 width=297 height=420) and printed my stuff at the 1st top middle of big page.
So I have a big "double" sheet, oriented PORTRAIT, with my stuff in 1st half, and a blank in 2nd half.
It seems that system did not rotate the page... and just put the stuff into a bigger sheet to "solve" at best.
I would like the same size of paper (A4) but in landscape : width=297 height=210
I have already seen many PDF with mixed portrait and landscape orientations, so what's the thing ?
    With my advanced thanks,
And greetings from Paris, France !

  • Default file destination in Microsoft Word 2010 Mail Merge to PDF

I'm using windows 2010, and Adobe Acrobat X Standard.
I have a mail merge template that I created in Microsoft Word 2010 that I use to send out multiple price quotes to customers who are bidding jobs.  When I merge to Adobe PDF everything works properly (everyone receives their unique PDF, etc.), but every time I do this Adobe requires that I select a destination folder for it to send the PDF's it generates that get attatched to the emails.
When I save a Word Doc as a PDF it automatically saves it in the same folder at the word document it was created from.  Is there a way I can set up my 'Merge to Adobe PDF' feature to do the same thing when it generates the merged PDF files?  It's just a hastle to map the entire file path of the desination folder every time I send out a quote.
    Thanks for your help!

  • MS Word 2007 Mail Merge Doc save as changes content of other documents everytime I save as a new document

Have a mail merge initiated in Access that creates a Merge document. When I save the document as newXXX.doc..........., doc is saved but internal contents of oldXXX.doc are also changed to match last saved document. Help please.

That suggests you are saving a copy of the mailmerge main document instead of executing the merge to create an output document - which is the one you should be saving. Consequently, with your current process, the saved document remains linked to the data
    source.

  • Paste from word into mail message, yosemite

In Yosemite, pasting from a Word document into a new mail message results in
missing chunks of text.  See screenshots of the two below (look at the 1st, 4th, 5th items).  I simply used command-V to paste.
    Word 14.4.5, Mail.app 8.0

I also have this issue and currently nothing is fixing it.
I have tried using shift+alt+command+v to paste with no formatting but it makes no difference.
The only workaround seems to be either:
    (1) posting to Text.app first
    (2) posting into a rich text email and then converting it to plain text (may not work every time)
We're still left with the perennial Word/Mail issue of all the extra line breaks though.

  • Cut and paste from Word into Mail

I have an earlier post where I thought I had solved this problem, but now it's back with a twist:
I can cut and paste from Word, but after a few cut and pastes, it seems as if I can only paste the last successful section of text: copying new text from word seems to work, but when pasting into Mail, only the previous section of cut and pasted text appears.
I have checked the preferences within Mail, and they are set for plain text... so there should be no problem, yes?
I also tried quitting and then restarting Mail, but had the same problem...
    Any advice?

    Thanks, aqua*star -
I just checked the "archiving" and "back-up" suggestions in the Mail "Help" window and got the following info:
    Mail preferences and messages
Your Mail accounts, rules, signatures, and Smart Mailboxes preference settings can easily be backed up. Tip: All Mail-related preference files should be backed up or restored as a group.
    To back up:
Note: These steps back up Mail preferences, but do not back up Mail messages (emails), although you can do that with the .Mac Backup utility. See below if you want to manually back up Mail messages (mailboxes).
Create a uniquely-named folder on your desktop (or other favorite location). For example, you might call it "Mail Prefs Backups May152005" (adding a date is a good idea).
    Quit Mail if it's running.
In the Finder choose Home from the Go menu.
    Open the Library folder.
    Open the Preferences folder.
Copy the "com.apple.mail.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file. Don't remove the original file from its current location (this file contains your Mail accounts information).
    Close the Preferences folder.
    Open the Mail folder.
Copy the "MessageRules.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file (this file contains your Mail rules).
Copy the "SmartMailboxes.plist" file to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the file (you guessed it, this file contains Smart Mailboxes information).
Finally, copy the Signatures folder to the folder you made in step 1 by Option-dragging the folder. (Your custom signatures, if you use them, are stored here.)
To restore: Just move all of the copies of the files and folders from your uniquely-named folder to the original locations from which they came, as listed above.
It looks like I can save and restore the Mail rules separately from the plist...
