10g forms : Tree-grid view

In Apex its possible to have JavaScript TreeGrid Control with Ajax Support - dhtmlxTreeGrid I tried to do the same using a tree component and a tabular form in 10g but the challenge part was synchronizing between the two separate controls.

10g form tree use of sys variable SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE issues

I have a tree that I have put on a search box to navigate the tree and select nodes on the tree based on the search string.
The problem is that if they use the search box :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE is not populated.
I use a search on the tree and then
ftree.set_tree_selection(tree_item, find_node, ftree.SELECT_ON); to select the item but how do I get this to set the trigger node variable?
If I mouse click nodes its populated correctly but not if I use the above
I use system.trigger node in various places to get current node to add/remove things to tree so ideally want to use this - as i thought this was always populated when the node was selected.

Quoting the online documentation for the WHEN-TREE-NODE-SELECTED Trigger:
SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE is the node the user clicked on. SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE returns a value of type NODE.
No programmatic action will cause the When-Tree-Node-Selected trigger to fire. Only end-user action will generate an event.So your programmatic setting of the trigger node does not cause the trigger to fire, so :system.trigger_node is not populated. But the value what you think :system.trigger_node should be in your case would be find_node , isn't it?

Connect by prior working in sql but not in forms 10g hierarchical tree

I have the following connect by prior example which is working in sql command prompt but not in Forms 10g hierarchical tree item type. Can you please let me know why ?

FillBy always fills in the same row in data grid view. How to make it fill in a new row for each click of the Fillby Button? VB 2010 EXPRESS?

I am a beginner in Visual Basic Express 2010. I have a Point of Sale program that uses DataGridView to display records from an external microsoft access
database using the fillby query.
It works, but it repopulates the same row each time, but i want to be able to display multiple records at the same time, a new row should be filled for
each click of the fillby button.
also I want to be able to delete any records if the customer suddenly decides to not buy an item after it has already been entered.
so actually 2 questions here:
1. how to populate a new row for each click of the fillby button
2. how to delete records from data grid view after an item has been entered

Hello,
The FillBy method loads data according to what the results are from the SELECT statement, so if there is one row then you get one row in the DataGridView, have two rows then two rows show up.
Some examples
Form load populates our dataset with all data as it was defined with a plain SELECT statement. Button1 loads via a query I created after the fact to filter on a column, the next button adds a new row to the existing data. When adding a new row it is appended
to the current data displayed and the primary key is a negative value but the new key is shown after pressing the save button on the BindingNavigator or there are other ways to get the new key by manually adding the row to the backend table bypassing the Adapter.
The following article with code shows this but does not address adapters.
Conceptually speaking the code in the second code block shows how to get the new key

Playing a playlist with multiple albums in Grid View in iTunes 8

Hi All,
Here is a situation I came across, that was quite unexpected compared to the behaviour in iTunes 7.
Suppose I have a playlist with multiple artists/albums. I have this playlist in Grid View. I choose this playlist from the left side navigation tree and press the play button. This playlist is set to shuffle by songs. I expect it to play a song and jump to the next song. iTunes 8 would just keep playing the same songs in the first album listed in the Grid View and would not jump to any other.

In this screenshot above, it will keep the songs in "The Very Best Of". If I press Ctrl+L (show now playing) then it would show only the songs in this album. This quite explains why it doesn't play other songs.
To explain a bit more on what's happening:
If I go to List View the song now playing does not have the Now Playing icon:

Notice it is playing "Opa Opa" but in the List View, it doesn't show it.
This is because in Grid View if you play a song from the playlist, it has its own "virtual playlist"

Why is this the case?

turingtest2: I had already done exactly what you described in the *"Missing Artist or Album not with others by same artist"* section of your article. But what I hadn't done was the advice you gave as the last sentence in this section...*"In addition if you change the Compilation status of tracks they may be temporarily treated as tracks from an Unknown Album, again things should resolve themselves if you close and reopen iTunes".* As soon as I closed and restarted iTunes, the Unknown Album with five tracks disappeared and the tracks were again displayed with the correct album.

Name shows the Column of database fields, output column has check box if user check box it will only display those columns and filter is text box in which we filter our results
basically i am just trying to do this like sql server in which user check columns to display and also provide filter criteria and then sql query modified according to the grid values.

Iconic file in oracle 10g forms

hii,,
i am a new user in oracle 10g form,,,here i am running a form & placing all the icons in a folder,after that i changed the iconic file path in the default.env file,the path is same where the icons are kept,,but still i am unable to see the icons at the run time,,,,,
do i need to modify some other file or the icons will be kept at some particaular place????

1 How to Display Iconic Images Using Forms 9.0.x/ 10.x?
When running an Oracle Forms 9i/10g application the icon files used must be in a web enabled
format such as JPG or GIF (GIF is the default format) (This is unlike older versions of forms running in client-server mode when the file format is .ico.)
Icon image files can either be retrieved by Forms as individual files on the filesystem or from a Java Archive (JAR file).
If an application uses lots of icon images it is recommended that they are stored in a JAR file to reduce the number of HTTP round trips.

The example below details steps to configure iconic images as individual gif or jpeg files.
It is a first approach recommended for initial testing and understanding.
Example:

1) Determine the physical location of the icons on your web server. For this example, assume that the icons are stored in D:\Myfiles\icons.

How to get a tree-oriented view of a pdf document's sections in Acrobat 8 Professional?

Hi, I have a PDF that has a document outline (with table of contents etc.). This may be a stupid question, but in earlier versions of Acrobat Reader -- I used to be able to get a navigation panel that showed the sections in a tree-form that made it easy to jump to a given section. I now have the Acrobat 8 pro.. and when I read PDF's with it, I do NOT get this tree-oriented view.. but just a thumbnail or page oriented view. How can I get the other view?

Well.. the contents page seems ok, and when I click on the lines in the contents page, Adobe takes me to the right spot. Others (w/ earlier versions of Acrobat) also are able to see the outine. I have to conclude that perhaps pro8 is just broken. (I guess I have to talk to someone to figure out how I can get my reader back.. because right now even the reader launches Acrobat Pro..). Sigh.

Rearranging photos in grid view

Mac OS 10.5.6 Lightroom 2.2 Camera RAW 5.12
My understanding is that photos cannot be rearranged in grid view in the parent folder. However, in a sub-folder to the parent folder it is possible to rearrange photos. I have several folders in the exact same hierarchy level inside a parent folder. All photos in all folder can be rearranged into user order except the photos in one folder in the same hierarchy level as the other folder mentioned above. It was previously possible to rearrange photos in this folder but now it is not. The only change is that I have imported some photos into Lightroom from a sub-folder to this folder where the photos cannot be sorted into user order. So the folder in question has NOT changed in the hierarchy level order, but a sub-folder to this folder has become part of the Lightroom library with new imports. How the heck can this import lock the photos in the folder and prevent them form being sorted (if this is what is causing the lock issue)? I would really appreciate some help since rearranging and sort photos is a main function of editing and organizing. This is an extremely annoying feature of Lightroom that hopefully will be corrected soon.
Please advice on how I can unlock the photos in this folder and sort them in user order

Remove the subfolder after lifting the images up into one folder is another solution.

Problem with the List/Album List/Cover Flow/Grid view buttons

Is anyone else having this problem?
I have each playlist/media in different views. I have my music in List view, my podcasts, TV shows, and certain playlists in Album List view, and my movies and music videos in grid view. But now, any view that I select makes it the same for each playlist/media and I have to manually change it everytime I go to one of those lists. I figure this is a glitch with 10.5.3. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm also having that problem.
It seemed to happen after iTunes 10.5 updates.
I like my music in album list view and my apps in grid form. However, now it's just one view for all lists. Any fixes for this or is this a bug that needs to be ironed out by Apple?

Moving images within Grid View in LR3beta2

Frustrated. In LR3Beta1 I could manually move and place images within Grid View or from the slide view at bottom for purposes of sorting "similar subject" content within a specified Text/Attribute naming. All of this was accomplished from the Parent folder, with no need for drilling down the Tree.
Now, since installing LR3Beta2 I can no longer manually move (sort) within Grid View...unless I am in the lower most folder of the tree. This change is not practical since a tree folder may not match the relevance of my specified Text/Attributes.
Can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong, or is the ability to manually sort from Parent folder no longer an option?

Here's an example of how I catalog/label/sort my images...
Architectural images project - 3 locations of shootng, 4 areas of focus: Doors, Windows, Facades, Walls
So, I may have 20 images w/both a door and a facade in the shot, 20 images with a window and a door, etc. I prefer to Keyword all of the images as Architectural, and then Keyword those applicable to Doors, Windows, Facades, Walls, etc.
Now, suppose those all go into a folder labeled Architecture.
The next week I get an assignment for Urban settings. It may include shops, churches, etc. However, within those, I decide to Keyword (where appropriate) Doors, Windows, Churches, Shops, etc. That project goes into a folder labeled Urban Settings.
Now, let's say I have a request specifically for "Doors". Now, those Doors are spread across multiple folders at this point so I have no opportunity to manually sort all of the doors my similar content if they fall into multiple folders. Doesn't matter that I have pulled up Doors through Text, I still cannot sort them by similar style, shape, color, etc since they are spread across multiple folders.
In the 1st beta, I could slice and dice a hundred ways to arrive at a final view and then...sort those so that they always appeared that way whenever I called them up again. Didn't matter that they were in multiple folders. That was extremely useful and...sweet.
Any ideas?

Inserting data from database in an applet in grid view.

I want to get data from the database, through the server, on the applet in grid view form. i have connected the applet and the server through sockets now how to put the data in the grid...... how to get the grid view in the applet..

You'd normally use a JTable for this.

10G Forms-How 2 create link of searched file stored in DB?

1. I've table named document which stores File_NAME, DOC_SIZE, LAST_UPDATED, etc. info;
2. I have .doc, .pdf, .txt files stored in the document table;
3. Using Oracle 10G Form Builder:
-I've created form in which I can view the columns (NAME, DOC_SIZE, LAST_UPDATED, etc.); and then able to do search for NAME using LOV.
I want to create a link or button just in front of queried data/record from where I can download that particular file stored in the DB.
Pl help me out.

List View and Grid View discrepancy

After having read almost all of the thousands of iTunes 11 user comments all over the Web, the great majority of whom consider this "downgrade" a pain in the neck, I am surprized that nobody has yet mentionned this infuriating bug (or is it another of Apple's "feature"?) : an unsolvable discrepancy between the List View of any playlist and its Grid View.
So maybe I am the only one to have this problem : Why (why? why?) is the sort order of the songs that I chose to have in the List View get all mixed up when I switch to the Grid view ? It is as if I had chosen to shuffle them. I just can't have them in my expected sort order.
Here is a playlist in which all parts are sorted according to my logical need : these are meetings to be listened to in the chronological order that I have decided to build it (and not in an Alphabetical. or Creation Date. or Modification Date or even less, in a Shuffled order that iTunes might decide by itself that I should listen them !)
Now here is the same playlist in the Grid View.
Notice the anarchic mixup of all its parts (together with the unexplainable disappearance of the playing order number of half of them !).
As I have noticed this same "feature" in many screen captures brought up by other users, this totally unacceptable !
And I've been trying for hours to get them back in order, with no avail.
Is it a bug ? Or a ridiculous "feature" ? Or an idiotic design originality (flaw) ?
Or am I missing something ? Did I do something wrong ?

Could you please explain more clearly?
I assume you have a form with four textboxes. If you want that the entered values will be saved in the database, you simply 'commit' the data. This can be done e.g. by F10. You do not need any extra buttons or button-pressed-triggers for that. This is standard Forms functionality.
What do you mean with "Again i will enter some some values in the text box"? Do you want to overwrite the old data, or do you want to insert new records in the database. Again, both options are standard Forms functionality.
Maybe you should go through the standard Forms documentation?

Session Killing - Automatically in 10g Forms

Dear All,
We have used when-timer expired-trigger in 6i forms and killed sessions which are idle for more than 30 mins. But the same form does not work with 10g forms.
Is there any limitation in 10g forms with when-timer-expired trigger.
How do we enable this. Please help us in fixing this.

I tried with "separateframe=true" in formsweb.cfg and it works fine for me.
What is not working when you set "separateframe=true"?
So far my experience with timeoutPJC is it works great with single form, form gets closed when the maximum Inactivity Period is exceeded but it is an issue when we try to implement it in multi-form application. My scenario is like this
- I have main form which works like a MENU with Hierarchial tree structure,
each node calls a different form within the application. Menu appears on the
left while individual forms appearing towards right upon invokation.
- I am trying to implement the timeoutPJC(Oracle Forms 10gR2 Demos) on this
form so that when the Maximum Inactivity period exceeds then the whole
application gets closed. It works GREAT when implemented on a single form
but in a multiple form application it doesn't seem to work.
- Also I have requirement to display a WARNING message 2 minutes prior to
timeout so that user will be notified before the application gets closed. I
tried to display forms ALERT but until the user acknowledges the alert application
will not close. As an alternative to the forms alert I tried displaying an
html document using WEBUTIL it is working ok but ideally I would like to see an Alert and close automatically just like AVG alert which shows timer after it has successfully updated and gets closed once the timeout occurs, anyone has ideas how to build such an alert?.
- From the main form (MENU) I use OPEN_FORM built-in() to open 1st level of
forms in the application. From this form I make use of CALL_FORM() to call
various other forms.
- If the focus is in the call form and if the form is in NORMAL mode
everything works great. But if the form is either in ENTER-QUERY mode or LOV
is opened and timeout occurs nothing happens until I close the called form
manually then all the forms get closed. How to overcome this situation?
- I can't understand why this doesn't work if the PJC is associated with the
JAVA applet?
**Is there a way we can close all the forms when timeout occurs without implementing timeoutPJC bean on all 600 odd forms in our application given the constraints I have defined above?
