10G Report Output to Text

Greetings,
I have a report that works fine to output text in my local developement environment. I run the report and the TXT file ouput is generated automatically to a file at c:\\report.txt.
When I take the same rdf and ftp it to the UNIX server the report doesn't really work. I suspect that it is trying to save the report up on the UNIX box and has no rights to do so. Before I go the route of saving my reports up on the UNIX box, has anyone been able to save file output locally from a 10G report??
Thanks for any help,
Bradley

Hello,
If you are using rwclient.sh, you can use the DESTYPE LOCALFILE :
http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/topics/htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs/rwrefex/cmdline/common/bld_destype.htm
If you are using the Reports Servlet, specify a mimetype that is not recognized by the browser. The browser will open the dialog box "Save or open"
http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/topics/htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs/rwrefex/cmdline/common/cla_mimetype.htm

  • Changing the seeded rdf report output from text to PDF

    Hi All,
    I am trying to change the seeded report "Print Requisition Report" output from text to PDF. I changed the output format in the concurrent program definition from text to pdf. The report is now getting displayed in pdf format, but the alignment of the fields are changed. The output is not printing as it was printing while in the text output format. The output looks very sloppy, with uneven fonts and too much of text wrapping.
    I tried some formatting and fields are somehow getting displayed but doesnt look in proper format. I am not able to change the font style in the report builder 6i, even if i change it is printing in the same font style with uneven font size. I think reducing the font size might help, but i am unable to change. We are on 11.5.10.2. Please provide your valuable suggestions on how to go about.
    Thanks

    Hi Hussein,
    Thanks for the information. After the adjustments in the layout and the font change the report is now getting displayed without any clipping when clicked on view output. But when the same report is printed some characters on the left and and right side is getting clipped. Please help on how to solve this issue.
    Thanks,

    you can close it as answered and add your personal solution just to let people know how it can be handled. You can also close questions as unanswered but this implies that your problem is still existing.

  • Report output in text format

    Using Report Builder 9.02. My customer wants to have the report output to be generated to a file (preferably text vs. RTF). Then they want to be able to open the output file in MS Word and be able to cut and paste selected pages of the report to another Word documdnt. How do I best do this keeping as much of the same font and objects (underlining of headers, etc.) defined in the report as possible? What printer definition should I use? Should the format be character mode? SHould the report be generated to Previewer first, the generated to a file? Any input would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

    Hi Patricia
    and be able to cut and paste selected pages of the report to another Word documdnt...I suggest that you create a report that generates just the selected pages of the report instead of the indirect means that you want to follow. The query must be written in such a way that only the required data are fetched out of the database.
    If you generate to text file, you will loose all the formatting information. It will be intact only if you generate to "Bitmap" formats such as PDF, HTMLCSS and RTF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Report 10g  report output to email

    Hi All,
    report server 10g is setup with the mailServer plugin details.
    However when trying to send email I am getting REP-50159 error.
    The email server is configured with close relay meaning a username/password detail must be provided in order to relay emails.
    Now, how can that authentication be passed when sending email direct from report server?
    are there any parameters that I need to pass within the distribution file?
    or does this setup works with open relay configuration only?

    Hello,
    This not supported by the current version of Reports .
    Anyway, you can create your own mail destination :

    Hi,
    As we did in ealier version 6i we can save the report output in text csv format.
    Same thing can we done in 10g reports?
    Thanks a lot

    Yes via DELIMITED or DELIMITEDDATA desformats, except you have a new format called SPREADSHEET which maintains more formatting for excel.

  • Not able to save report output in a text file and RTF file

    I am using Oracle Developer6.0 . I am facing problem with reports. I am invoking reports from form using run_product.
    1. I could not able to save the report in text file . Whenever i try to save the report output in a text file.It gives dump and application get closed.
    2. In RTF format , it execute the query which i have given at the design time while creating a report . But while running i am passing query either through lexical parameter or passing value of where criteria user parameters. It display the output for the specified value. But when i save this report output in rtf file . It execute design time query and save that in a rtf file.
    If any body is having any idea about it . Please let me ASAP . It is very urgent for me.
    Thanks in advance

    Try the following:
    Do not generate the report to .rep file, but rename/copy the .rdf file to .rep file and execute it.

  • Unable to send report output to printer when using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT in 10g

    Hello All,
    When I try to send my report output to a file from my form(10g), I get 'FRM-41213: Unable to connect to report server'. I can sucessfully send my report to printer when I set the REPORT_DESTYPE to 'PRINTER'.Here is the code from my when-button-pressed trigger.
    Am I missing something?

    Thanks,
    Anna

    Hi,
    its because
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_FILENAME,'C:\TEST1.doc');
    references the report rdf pr rep file to run, not the output file. The Reports output file is always specified with DESNAME

  • Error when sending report output to printer from Forms 10g

    Hi,

              msg_alert('Error getting the reports server name', 'I', FALSE);
         when alldone then
              null;
    END;

    If you use Windows the user that runs the reports server is usually LocalSystem. Check this in the Windows Services panel.
    LocalSystem has no printer access. To be able to print, you have to use a real domain user that has access to the printer. So, change the Log on properties in the Services panel.

  • How to print long raw text data in report output in single line?

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where I need to print raw comma separated text data in the report output which end user will open in excel and can sort as required. I can not directly generate excel output.
    Now there is huge set of data and each row from the report query should be get printed on single line, It should not get printed on the next line.
    I tried to extending the report with 240 characters but still there are some text data which is getting printed on the next line.
    Please share your view if someone has any solution on this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Arun

    Make the report even wider. By default a report layout can be 10 pages wide. If you need more, change the "Max. Horizontal Body Pages" property, and extend your layout too.
    IMHO, I wouldn't even use Reports to create a csv file. Utl_file or an sqlplus script that spools to a file are better options I think.

    The JComboBox is used as an "editor". Once you finish editing a cell the "renderer" is used to display the data. The default renderer is a JLabel which does not wrap text.
    Read the JTable API and follow the link to the Swing tutorial on "How to Use Tables" for more information on renderers and editors.
