11G : logging to activate 'view log' in manage sessions

Hi all,
I was wondering where to activate the logging so the 'view log' option in manage sessions becomes active.
Anyone an idea because I'm 'travelling' around in the console, but without success.
Txs for your great help!
Kr,
A

Hi ADB,
The only option is to do this via the em?Many administration tasks in 11g are the same as 10g. For example, the log level for a particular user is still defined in the security manager, and you still view the query log (nqquery.log) either through the filesystem, or through the Manage Sessions link in the Presentation Server administration screen
but after doing that also saying no log found, chk the link below

Hope it helps you.

Is it a bug in 11g or 10g?
    It was reported earlier in now archived beta forum. {thread:id=2214092}
The current doc lists MV sites only (and "No" for Advanced Replication feature):

  • Materialized view logs in cloned database

    Hi all!
We have materlialized views and materlialized view logs in two separate databases which are connected with a database link. The MV logs are in DB1_PROD, which is the database being cloned. The database link goes from DB2_PROD (where the MVs are located) to DB1_PROD:
DB2_PROD (materialized views) ----DB link---> DB1_PROD (materialized view logs)
When cloning DB1_PROD to DB3_DEV, the MV logs still have a reference to DB2_PROD. However, there is no connection between DB3_DEV and DB2_PROD.
In my opinion this is not harmful, but I would like to know if any of you can see any problems with this.
    In summary;
    DB1_PROD: Materialized view logs
DB3_DEV: Materialized view logs. Clone of DB1_PROD
    DB2_PROD: Materialized views.

Oracle automatically purges rows in the materialized view log when they are no longer needed. Because Oracle must wait for all dependent materialized views to refresh before purging rows from a materialized view log, unwanted situations can occur that cause a materialized view log to grow indefinitely when multiple materialized views are based on the same master table or master materialized view.
For example, such situations can occur when more than one materialized view is based on a master table or master materialized view and one of the following conditions is true:
Materialized view is not configured for automatic refreshes and has not been manually refreshed for a long time. OR
Materialized view has an infrequent refresh interval, such as every year, etc
You can also refresh the materialized views associated with the log so that Oracle can purge rows from the materialized view log.
If a materialized view log needs to be purged manually for some reason a procedure called DBMS_MVEW.PURGE_LOG can be used.

  • "No Log Found" in OBIEE 11g Administration- Manage Sessions

I am using 11.1.1.5 and have set the Repository logging to Log Level 2..and have also made the User logging to Level 2 as well. I know there is a session variable called LOGLEVEL and I have also tried to edit that. Despite this, I am still unable to see the physical SQL generated by the BI Server under Administration->Manage Sessions. Any idea what I may be missing?

    Hi,
It's bug. you do workaround method.
    Method 1:
create session veraible and set it log level 0 ro 7 then u can able to manage session view log (physical query)
    see my screen short
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/viewloginitsessionvaria.jpg/
    INIT LOGLEVEL
and just add dummy table mentioned below kind
    select 7 from IW_POSITION
    assign system session variable:
    LOGLEVEL
then save it and try to login weblogic then u can able to see the view log.
    Method 2:
for the particular report do it in answres -->advanced tab
can you try putting the below syntax in prefix section of advanced tab.
    SET VARIABLE LOGLEVEL=2,DISABLE_CACHE_HIT=1;
It should generate the log with database sql as well.

    System:
    User name:

Could anyone let me know how to find the above required information? Thanks!

You need to find this information from a person who installed server part of this deployment.
System: Name of the CMS server
User name: Administrator or other user name that exist in the Enterprise
    Password: obviously...
Authentication: type of the authentication setup on the server side for the user you will be using.

  • How manage materialized view, materialized view logs and db links in Server explorer and Oracle Database Proyect

    Hi,
We have installed Oracle 12c Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (Visual Studio is 2010 edition). With this tool we can manage tables, views, etc... but we also need to manage more database objects such as materialized views, materialized view logs and db links.
Is there any option to manage this object from Server Explorer and to add the script in the Database Project? At the same time, the schema compare tools does not include this object types. Is there any option to compare them?
    Thanks.

As you noticed, not all database objects are available in Server Explorer, and because of this they can't have scripts generated for them, nor can they be compared with Schema Compare.
In a pinch, you should be able to use SQL Developer to do this.

    Hi !
I'm using aggregate tables and to verify if they work well, I need to check the sql statement. But in the Answer "Settings > Administration > Manage Sessions > View Log", I see : cannot find history
Do you know why I can't see my sql statement ? Thanks

    Hi,
i think you dint enable the query logging..
in your rpd open your user and in the logging level select 2 or 1.
before that you need to enable one thing.

  • Viewing logs in Centralized Management

    Hi Everybody,
Before enabling Centralized Management on my ESAs (C370 with AsyncOS 7.6.3), I used to check problem issues by viewing the logs in the "Log Subscription page" of the gui. On this page, there was a very nice column called "Log Files", with direct HTTPS access to the logs.
But after enabling Centralized Management, this column just disappear...
Url are still valid (like for anti-spam logs :
https://@IP/system_administration/log_list?CSRFKey=3f8c9d04-40ce-4b95-a781-b41cb6261e00&log_type=antispam), but there is no more link to access it.
Any idea to restore these links, or access logs via HTTPS ?
    Thank you for your help.
    Best Regards
    Quentin

    Quentin -
Log files for cluster are not stored at machine level – and therefore are not going to be available.  The only retrieval methods are FTP, SCP push, syslog push.
Usually on the System Administration - Log Subscription page there are the following columns:
    - Configured Log Subscriptions
    - Type
    - Log Files
    - All, Rollover
    - Delete
As soon as a cluster is created the Log Files column containing the ftp links doesn't appear anymore, which is normal behavior.
    Per the Configuration Guide:
    Manually Download
This method lets you access log files at any time by clicking a link to the log directory on the Log Subscriptions page, then clicking the log file to access. Depending on your browser, you can view the file in a browser window, or open or save it as a text file. This method uses the HTTP(S) protocol and is the default retrieval method.
Note: Using this method, you cannot retrieve logs for any computer in a cluster, regardless of level (machine, group, or cluster), even if you specify this method in the CLI.
    Per the Advanced Guide:
    Q. Are log files aggregated within centrally managed machines?
    A. No. Log files are still retained for each individual machines. The Security Management appliance can be used to aggregate mail logs from multiple machines for the purposes of tracking and reporting.
    Hope that helps!

  • View log not showing physical SQL generated in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

    Hi,
I am currently using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7 version. In this version I am unable to view the physical SQL generated by OBIEE under Administration --> Manage Marketing Jobs --> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL OR Administration --> Manage Sessions--> Select a Job --> Click on View SQL. It is not showing the physical SQL generated by OBIEE for a report or segment which I have executed.
It was available in previous version i.e. OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2.
I have searched in metalink and it has been suggested to use the following <Filters> section into instanceconfig.xml file. I have added the following details into existing instanceconfig.xml file and then restarted the BI services. Still the problem persist.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
We used to view the log details (physical SQL) using Manage Marketing Jobs in OBIEE10g.
In OBIEE11g we can see the job details and when selecting a job (under Action column Details link) there is an option in left pane as 'View Log'. If I click on 'View Log' it is showing as 'No Logs Found'.
Just wanted to confirm if this is an issue in OBIEE11g.
Also, I believe there is a limitation in 'Manage Session' to view the number of job details whereas in 'Manage Marketing Jobs' section we can increase the number of jobs to be displayed.
    Thanks,
    Prasanta

  • Two log-ons before viewing the PO document for approval.

    Hi Workflow Experts,
We have a problem wherein the system requires the PO approver to log-on twice before viewing the PO for approval.
    The customer requirement is to approve a PO using workflow. Below is the brief description of the scenario;
    DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT:
Step 1.  A purchaser creates a Purchase Order and saves it.
Step 2. An email notification is received by the approver. In the notification, an attachment is double-clicked to activate the
log-on screen (this is an OS log-on). The approver logs into the OS log-on screen then the system directs the approver
                the PO for approval.
    PROBLEM:
In step 2, another log-on screen (this is the SAP log-on) appears after the approver was logged in the OS log-on.
HOW CAN I REMOVE THE SECOND LOG-ON SO THAT IT WILL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF ONLY ONE LOG-
            ON.
I hope you can help me soon. THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE...

For this you have use Single Sign On. This the business needs to decide. If the user is only facing the issue then the Single Sign On is not working. Search the SDN with Single Sign on and probably ask the appropriate team to allow this user to do SSO.
    Thanks

  • Materialized view log with multiple materialized views

    DB: 9.2.0.8
Yes its old. I am not allowed to upgrade it.
I have a set of materialized views that are created off of 5 base tables. They do fast refreshes. So I have multiple materialized views for the same base table and same materialized view log.
    1. how do materialized view logs manage multiple dependent materialized views?
    2. How do I tell by looking at the materialized view log which rows have not been fast refresh for a specific materialized view?

As a starter for 10 try reading: Materialized View Refresh : Log Population and Purge (Doc ID 236233.1) on MOS.

  • Disabling Materialized View Logs for a session

    Hi all.
I was wondering if it is possible to disable the fast refresh log for materialized views for just a given session. So for all other sessions except this one the log would be added to. I'm using 11g.
In Oracle Database 11g, The Complete Reference on page 447 it states:
"As of Oracle 11g, the capture of changes in materialized view logs can be disabled for an individual session while logging continues for changes made by other sessions". But no instructions are given
Does anyone know how to do this? I have not been able to find the answer by looking around.
    Thanks!

Yeah, I had saw that Oracle mentioned it here also: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28279/chapter1.htm#FEATURENO07197
Any idea of what the code might look like? I've never had to alter an individual session for Oracle before.

  • Materialized View Log not empty

    Hello all
I have an oracle database (11g version), connecting via dbLink to another DB (10g version), and using it's tables as masters for fast refresh materialized views.
To make it simple: I have master DB, with master table X, and Materialized View Log MLOG$_X.
Then, I have replicate DB, with dblink pointing to Master, and Materialized View MV_X, using X.
The materialized view is refreshed fast, on demand.
The problem is, the MV log is never getting empty... how can I solve this issue?

    END;
/* ADD MATERIALIZED VIEWS TO GROUP */
    BEGIN
        DBMS_REFRESH.ADD ( name => 'si2p_grp', list => 'SI_BANK', lax => TRUE);
    END;
    Thank you for any help

One MV log serve to many materialized views. Check dba_registered_mviews on master DB to see how many MViews you have build on you master table X.
After MV (materialized view) is refreshed than all data logged in MVlog for this MV are deleted. But new are recorded when DML are performed against table X.
If you can stop DML on table X for some period of time then do MV refresh and then you can see that MVlog is empty.

  • Performance consequences to adding materialized view logs to tables?

I am writing a very complex query for a client of our transactional database system and this will require the creation of a materialized viewbecause all attempts at tuning to make performance acceptable have failed.
I want to enable fast refresh of the MVIEW but I am confused regarding the consequences of the addition of adding materialized view logs to the base tables.
Some of the tables are large and involved in alot of transactions and I am wondering if the performance of INSERT/UPDATES will be seriously affected by the presence of an mview log.
This may be a simple question to answer but I was unable to find a clear cut answer in the literature.
    Thanks for any answers!!

Last time i looked into this there were three cases to consider
If you're doing conventional row-by-row DML then the impact is just one insert into a heap table per row modified.
If you are modifying a high number of rows using bulk-binds then the overhead is very severe because modifying 1,000 rows on the base table causes 1,000 non-bulk bound inserts into the log table.
Direct path inserts have extremely low overhead because the MV log is not touched. Instead, the range of new rowids added is logged in ALL_SUMDELTA
