11g - "Most Popular" section of Home Page

Can anyone shed light on:
(A) How OBIEE decides which objects go into the Most Popular section of the Home screen; and,
(B) How we can tell OBIEE to please NOT include that section on the Home screen. Can it be turned off?

Let me restate the first question, using a very simplistic scenario as a strawman.
Let's assume that there are 1000 active users of the system.
Let's further assume that there are exactly 30 objects (analyses, dashboard prompts, data models, reports, KPIs and so forth) available for selection in OBIEE.
Let's further assume the following usages of those 30 objects:
....Ten of the objects were accessed 15 seconds ago by 1 user each.
....Ten of the objects were accessed 15 minutes ago by 150 users.
....Ten of the objects were accessed 3 days ago by all 1000 users.
The section is called "Most Popular". I could make a strong case that an object accessed within the past week by every user of the system is "popular". You could make an equally strong case that an object that was accessed only 15 minutes ago by 15% of the user base is "popular". Neither statement would be incorrect. Yet, only 9 objects will be shown in the "Most Popular" section.
So the question is: What algorithm does OBIEE use to determine which 9 things out of the 30 to show in my 'Most Popular' section?
Followup question: Are my 9 things the same as everyone else's 9 things? After all, if I don't have any access to the 10 objects that were accessed 15 minutes ago, I would contend that they really shouldn't be on my list.
Actually, these are reasonably simple questions, but they probably require someone with knowledge of the inner workings of the sytem, i.e. a developer, to answer.

Personal Oracle 11g on Windows XP, Database home page...

Hi,
I have installed Personal Oracle 11g on my my machine. The operating systems is Windows XP. I can log into SQL*Plus, I can write and execute code and sql statements.
However, When I tried to go to dbconsole using "https://hostname:portnumber/em", I got "cannot find server error".
My host name is "sunil".
My portlist.ini file is as follows
Ultra Search HTTP port number =5620
Enterprise Manager Console HTTP Port (orcl) = 1158
Enterprise Manager Agent Port (orcl) = 3938
So, I have tried with "https://sunil:1158/em" .
Please help me resolve this issue.

"Most Popular" appears in Spanish after update to 32.0.2

I was working away and decided to update to the latest version. Not my BEST idea, because now Huffington Post US Politics page now shows "Most Popular" section in Spanish.

Do you have the English version? You could try uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling Firefox? You could also try deleting your cookies.

11g Home page link questions

A couple of questions about the links on the OBIEE 11g Home page, in the Get Started section:
1. The Introduction to Oracle BI and Oracle BIEE Documentation links both go to the same place: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/index.htm. Is that the intended behavior? Two adjacent links that do the same thing?
2. Clicking the Help Contents ... Oracle BI Publisher link brings up a website login screen for http://localhost:9704/xmlpserver/help/help.jsp. First of all, why would a help site be protected by a login screen? Second, what login can be used to gain access to this site? I've tried every login in my system, including the weblogic login, and it doesn't seem to like any of them.

Clarification and more information:
On the 11g Home page, under the Get Started... section, there is a Help Contents link. Clicking that link reveals three choices for online help, one of which is BI Publisher.
View ... Page Source reveals that the link for BI Publisher should go to: http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks&Action=help
However, clicking that BI Publisher link opens a new window that shows the URL http://localhost:9704/xmlpserver/help/help.jsp. And THAT webpage is presenting me with a login screen for BI Publisher 11.1.1.3.0, a login screen that doesn't recognize any combination of userid / password that I know of.
Copying and pasting the URL http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks&Action=help into the browser displays that same login screen and ...help/help.jsp URL.
Copying and pasting just this much of the URL http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks produces a page with these four rows of text:

2. Having made every possible guess of anything reasonable, I have no more guesses, and I'm asking what this login screen is looking for in terms of userid/password?

3. Is the Home page possibly just pointing to the wrong location?

How to Get My Dashboard as Default Page Instead of Home Page in OBIEE 11G?

I have one requirement where i need to change default page to "My Dashboard" like what we had in OBIEE 10G ?
Rite-now in OBIEE 11G when any user logs in they are directed to "Home" Page, but i want to change the navigation to "My Dashboard" for all user..
I know the option to in My Account and Change the Default dashboard in Preferences , but it's manual way to do it for all end-users.
and the other is to create the PORTALPATH Variable and do it from RPD.
So I am looking to some other way there we can change the navigation path from system file itself...

Actually I am just concern abt the OBIEE Dashboard page, the link that u have mentioned is for Application Server, where we can manage the multiple Application Portals.
and it also doesn't come with Middleware that we are installing for OBIEE.
so i did get some useful information but not related to my question.
is there any place in EM(Enterprise Manager) or Console(Admin Console) from where we can manage the Default Portal for OBIEE Users?

How do i get rid of ads on Firfox home page ( most current version is installed and all extendsions disabled)?

ads on FireFox home page started a month or two ago...
some are very offensive (a gun pointing at me) and all are highly distracting/flashing things and such....
I emptied /cleared my Cache today..kept in only a few I knew..did the clean out manually selecting..
My version is current 18.0.1 as of a week or two ago..

My home page displays the wrong day in my sport section.

My home page is Yahoo. I have a section on the homepage that is set up for my sport teams. The days displayed for date of play are wrong. The category displays the college teams day as Friday, but the date of play is Saturday. This day is displayed next to the teams name correctly. As a suggestion, it would be more appropriate to create a custom new web part with the help of Search API in your scenario, there, we can create custom style more
freely than customizing on an existing web part.

I have my home page set up fine, but when i open a new tab it loads "delta serach" instead of the old layout of my most visited pages.

something has reset my new tab page to delta search, i want the original layout back with the page thumbnails of most visited pages that i had before. please help. very annoyed at delta for taking liberties in my browser settings.

*Uninstall the delta search from Extension/Toolbar
In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

Where is the 11g workflow home page???

On 10g it was at http://<host.:7777/pls/wf/wfa_html.home
Where did they hide it in 11g, since workflow is part of Warehouse builder....?
Everything is working, OWB and workflow...but I can't find the Oracle Workflow home page...help please

Hmmm...that doesnt work for me; there is nothing listening on 7778 or 7777 on my 11g RAC Cluster.
Oracle wants me to install the Apache server off the 10g companion cd and create the dads...etc. Just like you had to do in 10g...
I can see it working fine with a single node; but not with RAC. If metalink's way is the only way, that means I'll have two disconnected http servers, both serving up the same DAD's, that doesn't sound like a really good idea.
Ok...anyone really know what the right answer is...I'll probably go with the metalink sr answer and install the 10g http servers (even though I don't like the idea), if no one has a better solution...

Before even trying that url you should see a endpoint with port 8080 in Endpoints summary from lsnrctl stat command.

in the previous version of BI(10g) due to the fact that there wasn't any home page I was able to redirect the user to a dashboard page that I wanted (by hiding from him 'My dashboard' which was the first dashboard you see when you login). Now due to the existence of the standard home page of the BI I cannot have this functionality which is necessary for the project I am working on. :(

What happened to "news", etc. and "most visited" at top of home page?

I used to have items on the home page that I could click on such as "news" which would take me to a site with news sources where I could search for news topics and get the latest info on a topic. There was also a "most visited" tab I could click that took me to a list of some sites that I most went to. These have disappeared w/ the latest update.

As far as the "Most Visited", that should still be on the Bookmarks Toolbar, AFAIK. I know I have to delete that in every new Profile I create, but then again I am using Windows, not Mac OSX.
