11g OHS or Weblogic

Hi all,
We are upgrading to 11g. Forms only. We have no plans of using Portal or SSO or OID.
What are the best practices? Access forms application directly via WLS_FORMS ports or access via OHS and bridge to Weblogic?
Any pros/cons of using OHS for FM 11g Forms only?

I was just following the instructions starting in 1218695.1 and 1235653.1 .
They talk about doing ssl in ohs, webcache and weblogic. All separately.
They don't they tell us to use ohs as a front end to weblogic so I didn't think of it.
I don't know that it would be so difficult to enable weblogic to use ssl as long as it could use in my case the
wallet such as is required for ohs on windows, because I already fought that battle. But the cited docs are all about .jks files.
however it said in the master note:
"Section III: Configuring FMW Oracle Components for SSL
Once you have successfully created your Wallet or Keystore, you are ready to configure your desired component for SSL."
And they have instructions for ohs,web cache and weblogic, which do not talk of wallet files. So yeah if we have
to do this keystore business it sounds like a hassle to deal with weblogic unless someone is starting from scratch anyway.

Oracle JDeveloper uses this preconfigured installation as the Integrated WLS, a Oracle JDeveloper-managed server for testing and debugging your applications from within the IDE. *After installing Oracle JDeveloper, everything you need to begin developing, testing and debugging web applications is installed and configured for you; no additional configuration steps are necessary for development purposes.*"

    Hi,
Did you configure your application module to use a JDBC data source? To do this, right-click the app module in the navigator, select Configurations and in the dialog that comes up change the connection type to JDBC Data Source and enter your data source name - which should be the same as the data source you created on the weblogic server.
Also, I do suggest you create an EAR file - this is what we've tested and certified with. You can find more details in the deployment chapter of the fusion developer's guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/deployment_topics.htm#CHDJJDDG.
    Hope this helps

  • How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?

    Hi,
I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:
    >
When the target server is configured for production mode, you typically handle the migration task outside of JDeveloper using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager. For details about using tools outside of JDeveloper to migrate the policy store to the domain-level in a production environment, see the [Oracle Fusion Middleware Security Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/toc.htm].
    >
However, this guide is of very little help to me. I found [chapter 7|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/addlsecfea.htm#insertedID0], which says "The recommended tool is Fusion Middleware Control." I have no idea what "Fusion Middleware Control" is, where to get it and how to use it.
Long story short: I'm totally lost. I'm looking for a step by step guide on how to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to a WegLogic 10.3 server that is running in production mode. Any help is highly appreciated.

Ok, I found a [very helpful blog post |http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html] by [Andrejus Baranovski|http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468230464412457426]. I wish Oracle's documentation was as clear as this...
The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

  • 6i to 11g (Fusion M./Weblogic)

We have recently moved from Forms 6i to Forms 11g/Weblogic/Fusion Middelware architecture and many sites are reporting lagging issues.
This is clearly evident, for example, when scrolling through a multirecord block (20 recs) or switching between tabs.
Such issues were not present under 6i.
Yes, it could be anything causing this ... but I'm just curious to see if anyone has experienced similar issues.
The Forms are highly tuned - there is no SQL in Post-Query triggers for example and most if not all DML is stored in packages on the DB so we don't think it's a Forms issue but more architecture related ?
    Any thoughts welcome.
    Thank's.
    N.

    hi ,
use below steps for Eliminate this issue
To start the wizard version of the Forms Migration Assistant:
    1. On Windows systems, set the environment variable FORMS_PATH:
    SET FORMS_PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\forms
On UNIX systems, set the variable FORMS_PATH as in the example below:
    setenv FORMS_PATH $ORACLE_HOME/forms
    2.
In Windows, from the Start menu, select ORACLE_HOME | Forms Developer |Oracle Forms Migration Assistant (GUI Mode), or at the command line, start the conversion utility by entering: frmplsqlconv.bat mode=wizard.
    or
    in UNIX, enter frmplsqlconv.sh mode=wizard.
The Conversion Wizard Welcome dialog displays.

how Jdev deploys and configures Weblogic server, that it works fine, but when i start THE SAME server manually, deploy application using JDEV the application execution failed (see above exception)
maybe i should use EAR profile instead of WAR, to deploy all connections and other stuff to weblogic?

    Hi,
Did you configure your application module to use a JDBC data source? To do this, right-click the app module in the navigator, select Configurations and in the dialog that comes up change the connection type to JDBC Data Source and enter your data source name - which should be the same as the data source you created on the weblogic server.
Also, I do suggest you create an EAR file - this is what we've tested and certified with. You can find more details in the deployment chapter of the fusion developer's guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/deployment_topics.htm#CHDJJDDG.

  • ADF jdev 11g portlet   in Weblogic Portal 10G R3?

Is possible to build a ADF Jdev 11g portlet and deploy it in a Weblogic Portal 10g R3?

Not with WebLogic Portal 10gR3, no, but that use case is one that will be supported in the upcoming release of WebLogic Portal, which will coincide closely with the release of WebCenter 11g.

  • Configuring mod_wl_ohs for OHS to weblogic

    Hello,
I'm trying to configure SSL between OHS and a weblogic application server. I've been through various docs and threads, but cannot seem to find the answer to the problem. I can pull up a ssl page on the app server itself, and see that it's secure and using the certificate (https://appserver:7002). SSL works fine from a client to the OHS server as well.
    In httpd.conf on OHS server:
    <VirtualHost <myip>:443>
    ServerName ohsserver
    DocumentRoot "${ORACLE_INSTANCE}/config/${COMPONENT_TYPE}/${COMPONENT_NAME}/htdocs"
    DirectoryIndex index.html
    <IfModule ossl_module>
    SSLEngine on
    SSLProtocol nzos_Version_3_0
    SSLCipherSuite SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5,SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA,SSL_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA,SSL_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA
    SSLVerifyClient none
    SSLWallet "${ORACLE_INSTANCE}/config/${COMPONENT_TYPE}/${COMPONENT_NAME}/keystores/ohs_wallet"
    SSLCRLCheck Off
    </IfModule>
    ServerAdmin web@mydomain
    <IfModule weblogic_module>

    SecureProxy On
    WLSSLWallet "$(ORACLE_INSTANCE)/config/OHS/ohs1/keystores/ohs_wallet"
    </IfModule>

I've imported the appserver certificate into the ohs_wallet (my ssl wallet).

Yes, I created a custom identity and trust keystores using keytool. I added the root and intermediate CAs in both of those and then imported the certificate I received from the intermediate CA into the identity store.
All I get from the OHS access log is a 503 status when I try to access something on the app server.
Here's what I get on the app server log:

I looked up this error, and it says to add SecureProxy to the configuration...but I already added that!

Embeded weblogic runs with ADF libraries of 11g why this class cannot be found?
    Any comment will be helpfull,
    Thanks

I am not explicitly use this class, neither in source code nor in xml configuration files so i can’t find it anywhere in my application.
I guess that, embedded weblogic loads 11g adf libraries and does not include this 10g specific class but migration shouldn’t change this
    oracle.adf.view.faces.event.AttributeChangeEvent to
    org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.event.AttributeChangeEvent?
    thanks

    Hi,
Yes Oracle forms and reports 11g needs weblogic to be installed first which creates a Middleware home .
Under that Middleware home you have to create a Forms & Reports home where in the respective binaries are installed.
    Thanks,

  • ADF 11g and Peoplesoft/Weblogic License

    Hi,
My understanding is that ADF is included in every WebLogic license, does anybody know if this also applies to installations
of Oracle Peoplesoft that include WebLogic Server or would a separate ADF license be required to implement ADF components in
    a Peoplesoft environment?
    Many Thanks,
    Sean

    Pako,
goes beyond my knowledge. In case you don't get an answer, the Webcenter forum might be a good idea to try WebCenter Portal
