11g R2 installation on Centos 5 in virtual box

linux_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
linux_11gR2_database_2of2.zip
I do have listing as above. I looked the following given by another member where he was asble to solve the problem - but I don't understand how he got these without extension zip and I get component of both the directories in the same folder - how I can separate the components - I just did not understand the following processes:
chmod -R 777 linux_11gR2_database_1of2
chmod -R 777 linux_11gR2_database_2of2
then copy the content of Components folder from linux_11gR2_database_2of2 to the Components folder of linux_11gR2_database_1of2 (That is copying all the folders and file from Components to Components)
chmod -R 777 linux_11gR2_database_1of2""

  • Installation as guest OS on Virtual Box

    Hi,
I have downloaded Oracle Enterprise Linux and am trying to use the same as guest OS in Virtual Box on Windows Vista. While I managed to complete the installation successfully, I am not able to use it. When I power on the virtual machine and enter my username and password, it only displays a blank screen and nothing happens.
Can you help me out with this please ?

    frits hoogland wrote:
As advised previously, run system-config-display. Another way to modify the screen resolution is to modify it directly in the X settings. But please try system-config-display.Thanks for your reply. I tried modifying the display resolutions from "System->Preference->Screen Resolution", but the only options available there are "800x600" and "640x320". Incidently, when checked in "System->Administration->Display" window, the video card is shown as "Unknow Video Card". Selecting any of the video cards from "Configure..." button does not help either.
I am not used to Linux and hence am trying to do things using GUI interface. Please let me know if I have to use text mode to do something that can not be achieved in GUI mode.

  • Oracle 11g 2 installation blocked

Hello, I'm installing the 11g release 2 Oracle version under a CentOS 6.3 virtual image, which is running on a CentOS 6.4 physical server.
I've followed the steps about previous requirements showed in the "Quick installation guide", so I think that the environment was correct before I started the installation (hardware requirements, packages installed, groups and users created...)
I tried installation twice, and it stopped at the same point both times:
    - Progress: 60%
    - Status: Copying files
"Copying files for 'Oracle Notification Service 11.2.0.0.0'
There is 34G free space in the home folder, and 12G free space in the /tmp, so I have no clue where the problem could be... Any help/idea??
    Thanks in advance

    Make the following checks:
    1. Permissions in whole directory structure $ORACLE_HOME.
If necessary run the following command:
    find / oracle-type d | xargs chmod 775
If it is a RAC check on both nodes.
    2. Check LIMITS in /etc/security/limits.conf
    3. Check if /tmp is full
    4. Make sure the sysctl.conf this parameterized correctly.

  • OIM 11g R2 installation Issue. OIM Schema creation failed using RCU 11.1.2

I have been trying to install OIM 11g R2 on a Windows server 2008 R2 64 Bit and have been encountering the following error during the OIM schema creation. The other schemas, such as Metadata, SOA, user messaging services and other associated schema creation was successful. But, the OIM schema creation was taking more than 2 minutes and finally it fails with the below error.
    RCU-6130: Action failed
RCU-6135: Error while trying to execute java action.
    Components used:
    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit
    DBS: 11gR2 (11.2.0.1)
    RCU: 11.1.2
The first error occured was ora-12637 packet receive failed followed by Table or View does not exist. I could not fetch much information from the oim and rcu.log.
I have set the processes, open_cursors and session_cached_cursors as suggested in the preinstallation step of OIM 11g R2 installation.
Any pointers on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Srini

Copy the msvcr71.dll file from rcuHome\jdk\jre\bin inside rcu installer and paste it in C:\Windows\SysWOW64.
Try running the rcu again with the new user i.e. instead of DEV_OIM, run it with DEV_OIM1.
Or drop the DEV_OIM user first and then use the same user.

    yes, of course.
using different environment during the installation of the new engine, you could install the new oracle home 11 also tomorrow (including the SBP).
infact, before the ./RUNINSTALLER you have to set the environment
    setenv ORACLE_HOME /oracle/SID/112_64
    setenv ORACLE_HOME_SRC /oracle/SID/102_64
    setenv ORACLE_HOME_TGT /oracle/SID/11202

  • Oracle 11g XE - Installation Error

I am trying to install oracle xe 11g on my Win XP. The installation goes thru well. But when we start the database it starts too. However If I want to login it wont allow.
I tried to use connect using sys account as sysdba I get the following message:

    create spfile='C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\dbs\spfileXE.ora' FROM pfile='C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\config\scripts\init.ora';

  • Is JDK need to install prior to 11g Binary installation

    Hi All,
I am planning to install 11.2.0 on Suse Linux 10. Prior to the install i checked Preinstall validation using RDA, it says :-
    Rule A00200: JDK Version
    Description
This rule checks that the installed JDK version is JDK 5.0 update 6 or later. This is required for products like Oracle Java Database Connectivity and Oracle Call Interface drivers.
    Unmatched Actions
JDK home is missing == Adequate
    Default Action
    Result: FAILED
    Value: JDK home is missing
    Return Value Action
JDK bin directory is missing Install full JDK package.
JDK compiler is missing Install full JDK package.
... not verified Cannot verify the version. Make sure JDK 1.5 update 6 or later is installed.
JDK home is missing Provide correct location for JDK home.
Need 1.5 update 6 or later Install JDK 1.5 update 6 or later Do I have to install JDK prior to 11g binary installation or oracle will take care this during the installation ?

  • Oracle Portal 11g - New Installation

    Hello,
I have worked a lot of with IAS 10.1.2.3. Now I want to install Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.0). But I need the Portal for my old applications.
I have found the document 1364497.1 "New Direction for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g with Single Sign-On 10g". In the document is a section "Oracle Portal 11g - New Installation" from 23-MAY-2012. This describe in Part 1 that I have to install the Infrasturcture of Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) . But I can't find the needed sources in the given donlaod path (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/101401-099957.html).
I found only Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.3). This version seems to me does not have an Infrasturcture.
I don't know which sources I have to download to install the temporary needed Infrasturcture. Can anybody help to find the right sources?
    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
I'd prefer to get the document published first. Also a few comments with regards to the OAM installation path.
    The benefits are :
<li>You will be using OAM straight from the beginning, no SSO in the picture
<li>You can install Oracle Portal with an 11g OID instead of a 10g OID (which you would get when installing IDM 10.1.4)
<li>You can use an 11.2 database for both the Portal and OID repository. With IDM 10.1.4 you are restricted to an 10.1 or 10.2 database as the installer does not support 11g.
There are some drawbacks as well :
<li>There will be no DAS solution (oiddas). Both User/Group creation should be done with different tools (ldif files, dbms_ldap API, provisioning from a 3rd party LDAP server) as well as User and Group LOVs in the access tabs of several Portal components won't work. You can still enter the name of the user and group in the input field to grant privileges
<li>The seeded login portlet does not work
    Thanks,
    EJ
