1242ag and fast roaming. Possible?

Equipment/Configuration:
Controller 4402-25 (4.0.179.8)
1242AG AP (3 currently operating)
LWAPP Transfer Mode is Layer 3
WPA2 Security
-Warehouse/Manufacturing Environment-
-Testing Phase-
We have several mobile laptop users that need to access a SQL database and it is critical that a network connection is maintained when switching between access points.
The problems we are currently having is that when roaming, connection is briefly broken and some data packets are being lost.
We have tried different config and threshold changes but still same results.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Gary

Ok, that means MFP globally disabled for the controller. That's good.
I think at this point you have 2 options that may help, but neither is very pretty. We had almost identical issues, and after a lot of work with Intel and Cisco this is what it came down to:
- Use Windows to manage the connection (or a third party supplicant such as Meetinghouse/Cisco client). This is ok for you since you are using PEAP, but it is not ideal if you like the Proset functionality.
- Work with Intel (this may take weeks of pressuring your hardware vendor to get Intel engaged depending on your company size) and try to get some of their pre-release driver/proset bundles.
We opted for using Windows to manage the wireless, and we have been pretty much rock solid. I cannot speak for the beta drivers, except to say we did still see some odd behavior for the few days we tried them.
I think it is worth you testing one with windows managing it to see if your problem goes away.
As a side note, if you do that I suggest adding the WPA2 hotfix so you get the latest WPA support. The link is below:

  • How do transfer files as easy and fast as possible?

Hi, I will have to get all my files on my Mac Mini here on to the new iMac I'll be having in a few hours. How can I do this as fast and easy as possible?
Do I use a USB cable between the Mac Mini and the iMac or what kind of connection should I use? And how do I keep my system preferences and stuff without having to overwrite Leopard-specific files and folders? My Mini is on Tiger.
Can I use a FireWire, I heard they are much faster than USB but I don't know if they can be used for Computer-Computer setups?

    Hi.
I am already on the new iMac now. A lot of good impressions so far, and a few things I would change, but I am overall very satisfied with the product
I used a FireWire 400 with 6-pin on both sides. The Apple Genius said Mac Mini doesn't have FW 800 port (new Intel Mac Mini). And it was dumb of me to ask if the files and folders are treated the same way as the applications. I didn't think of the fact that the applications are in like a shared folder and the personal stuff is part of the accounts...
I just have a question, how are some of my preferences transferred if system files aren't replaced? And my main concern with the transfer wasn't that not all files could be transferred, but rather that some Leopard files could accidentally be overwritten and there goes my Leopard.
Anyway, thanks for your advice everybody. How do I use Quick Look by the way?

  • Hi, I've just started as a fresher in sap fico and I'm upto the LSMW part and I'm wondering why I keep getting an error in Run batch step when I do everything else correct could you help?  Please help I'm really trying to learn it as fast as possible

Please help I'm really trying to learn it as fast as possible?  I've posted the file with all my screen shots going through the enitre process of me creating the LSMW file.

First, I will try to address the iPod issue: If youve tried EVERYTHING on the website, your only other option is probably to contact Apple, I recommend by phone, and informing them of the problem. You are covered by warranty and therefore they are liable to assist you. Try that and come back with a status update
Now I will address your attitude about it:Its absolutely understandable to be upset over something like this, especially with such an expensive product, but you are generalizing far to much. You may think Apple is being unproffesional by not warning potential buyers of the iPods common faults, but do you really think they would? they are out to sell these things, they arent going to point out the bad in their product. And not all iPods have problems, in fact only a fraction do. That gopes for the rest o Apples products as well. You are too hasty assuming all Apple products are junk, and one of many reasons as to why that is unfair of you is becuase you dont own any other Apple products.

  • CCKM/Fast Roaming CCXv3 and CCXv4 Clients

I am trying to verify for sure if CCXv3 clients can connect to a wlan configured with 802.1X+CCKM, and security WPA2/AES and do fast roaming?
It appears that CCXv3 clients do not support CCKM with 802.1X/EAP TLS.

Keep in mind PMK is specific to an ap and client. If a client roams away from the ap and comes back it doesnt have to reauth becuase it uses the PMK. OKC, uses the orginal PMK generated during your first auth and then shares it with other aps to negate auth .. clients need to support OKC to take full advantage
    For flex ..
    FlexConnect Groups and CCKM
FlexConnect Groups are required for CCKM fast roaming to work with FlexConnect access points. CCKM fast roaming is achieved by caching a derivative of the master key from a full EAP authentication so that a simple and secure key exchange can occur when a wireless client roams to a different access point. This feature prevents the need to perform a full RADIUS EAP authentication as the client roams from one access point to another. The FlexConnect access points need to obtain the CCKM cache information for all the clients that might associate so they can process it quickly instead of sending it back to the controller. If, for example, you have a controller with 300 access points and 100 clients that might associate, sending the CCKM cache for all 100 clients is not practical. If you create a FlexConnect that includes a limited number of access points (for example, you create a group for four access points in a remote office), the clients roam only among those four access points, and the CCKM cache is distributed among those four access points only when the clients associate to one of them.
Note CCKM fast roaming among FlexConnect and non-FlexConnect access points is not supported. See the "Configuring WPA1 +WPA2" section for information on configuring CCKM.
FlexConnect Groups and Opportunistic Key Caching
Starting in the 7.0.116.0 release, FlexConnect groups enable Opportunistic Key Caching (OKC) to enable fast roaming of clients. OKC facilitates fast roaming by using PMK caching in access points that are in the same FlexConnect group.
This feature prevents the need to perform a full authentication as the client roams from one access point to another. Whenever a client roams from one FlexConnect access point to another, the FlexConnect group access point calculates the PMKID using the cached PMK.
To see the PMK cache entries at the FlexConnect access point, use the show capwap reap pmk command. This feature is supported on Cisco FlexConnect access points.
Note The FlexConnect access point must be in connected mode when the PMK is derived during WPA2/802.1x authentication.
When using FlexConenct groups for OKC or CCKM, the PMK-cache is shared only across the access points that are part of the same FlexConnect group and are associated to the same controller. If the access points are in the same FlexConnect group but are associated to different controllers that are part of the same mobility group, the PMK cache is not updated and CCKM roaming will fail.

  • Questions on Client Failver and Fast Failover

've few questions regarding Client Failover and Fast Faiolver of Oracle Database HA. Before I ask those questions I would like to explain my environment. Below are the details.
    - We have two physical locations called 'ABC' and 'PQR'
    - ABC is the primary site.
    - PQR is the standby site.
    - In ABC, we have Oracle RAC database (11.2.0.2) with two nodes.
    - In PQR, we have a single server standalone database (11.2.0.2) with ASM. This is not a RAC.
    - Data Guard has been configured between ABC and PQR and it is working as expected.
    - Please note that we have a licence for Active Data Guard.
    - We have Oracle Identity Management products at both ABC and PQR and they are going to use RAC database as a primary database which is in ABC.
    - We did not configure Data Guard broker yet.
We want to achieve below goals:
    Goal 1:
Whenever RAC primary goes down completely, standby database should become primary database AUTOMATICALLY and it should allow read/write operation.
I guess this is called 'Fast Failover'. Please let me know if I am wrong.
    Questions :
    - To make this happen, Do I need to configure Data Guard Broker so that standy database becomes primary when RAC goes down completely with planned or unplanned outage.
    - Let's say RAC goes down completely, how long does Data Guard broker take to make standby db as Primary.
    - What about the client/application who already connected to RAC.
    - Let's standby DB has become as primary and after sometime if RAC comes back , Does data guard automatically changes the role of RAC to primary ?
    Goal 2:
As I explained above, all Oracle IDM products and applications speak to RAC database they only know about RAC database which is primary. They are not aware of standby database.
    - Whenever a client session is in progress with RAC primary database, if RAC goes down completely , we would like to expect client session should get transferred standby datbase without loosing session information . However before this happens, standby database should become primary becuase client session may perform write operations.
    - Whenever a client is trying to connect to RAC prmary and assume RAC is completely down, we would like to expect client connections should get transferred to standby database.
However before this happens, standby database should become primary becuase client session may perform write operations.
As per my knowledge, above scenarios are called 'client failver'. Please let me know if I am wrong.
    Questions:
    1. Please throw some light to achieve above features.
    2. As per my understanding, before client failover happens, fast failover should have already occured and standby should get switch to primary role. I guess all this happens through TIMEOUT parameters. What are those.
    Could you please help ?
    Thanks

    Hi Pluv,
the VI is mainly based on those Coding challenge linked by Raven's Fan...
And as this sounds like homework (or similar) I would suggest to read that old thread, read articles on Wikipedia, and then do some own coding instead of adorning with borrowed plumes... To calc primes is described in numerous places in the internet, all you need is reading and coding!
And here's you can look at my VI:
One correction to my first post: you only need to calc upto 1.3e6... The 100.000th prime is 1299709.

  • WPA2+CCKM fast roaming not happening

    Hello,
I'm trying to test fast roaming using a Cisco 2100 Series controller and 2 1140 APs. The initial authentication succeeds fine and the wireless
connection works ok using WPA2+CCKM and LEAP with a Cisco ACS radius server.
The problem is that the client does not attempt to preauthenticate with the other AP because the RSN Capabilities IE in the AP beacons and probe responses do not set the RSN Preauthentication capable bit. I can't figure out what it takes to get the APs to indicate to clients that it can do preauthentication. I'm been crawling through all the documentation I can find, to no avail. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    - Bill

Preauthentication has nothing to do with WPA2 Proactive key caching nor with CCKM.
If you enable CCKM on the SSID you would expect the clients to use CCKM for roaming, no ?
Most clients don't support WPA2 with CCKM combined as they have overlapping roaming mechanism. What are your test clients exactly ? Did you verify if they support WPA2 with cckm ?

  • Convenient, reliable and fast filetransfer to android?

Is there a convenient and reliable and fast way to tranfer data to android.
I tried gvfs-mtp in thunar which is really convenient. But unfortunately it is to ~90% NOT reliable. Bugs cancelling the transfer are getting me crazy, the speed is below 2MB/s and much lower if I am transfering a lot of small music files.
adb is, untill now, 100% reliable, but is everything else than convenient. (Debug mode, cli, adb shell, have to know remote location, no possibility to copy bunches of files) But it has a max of 3,5 MB/s on my Galaxy Nexus.
Well is there something up to date of which I did not hear of untill now?

There are quite a lot of android applications that either have samba support or are simply samba clients.  So if you just set up samba on your machine, it is pretty easy to just grab files from your machine, or even put files from your android device back onto the samba server.  I have noticed that quite a good number of android file managers provide this functionality, so it is particularly convenient.
There are other protocols that are supported through various android applications, but from my (admittedly limited) experience with android, I have found that samba tends to be the most frequently supported.`

Why isn't adobe reader opening? Please answer question as fast as possible.

Well the app must have worked at one point if you have important data in it. Maybe you should seek help on the Adode Reader for iOS web site.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums/ios
Have you rebooted the iPad and then tried the app again? Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • IPod Touch randomly pausing, starting, and fast forwarding?

I have a 16 GB 2nd gen iPod touch and about 6 months ago I purchased Beats by Dr. Dre for them. They worked perfectly until the headband snapped. I then switched to using the earbuds that came with the iPod. A few days ago I purchased another set of Beats by Dr. Dre. They worked fine while using them the first time, but the second time using them any song I would listen to would randomly pause, start, and fast forward. I switched back to the earbuds that came with thr iPod and the problem didn't occur. I'm not sure what the cause of this is so if anyone could help it'd be much appreciated.

    Hello,
I am having a similar problem with my 5th generation Nano (5 weeks old). It started about 1 1/2 weeks ago and paused in only 1 song. When I touched the right side of the screen, the song restarted and continued playing. It happened 2 more times on different days and in different songs. Tonight, it paused 7 times during 3 or 4 consecutive songs. I used the same procedure as above to restart each time. Tonite, after a few more songs played without pausing, I backed up to the first song that had paused and let the song sequence replay. No problems this time??? I have not noticed if there is any fast forwarding occurring, but some songs end abruptly before the end (a separate problem). I am thinking that there may be a glitch at a certain spot on the Nano hard drive causing songs to pause. Is that possible? When playing, my Nano sits on a desk top and nothing is touching it. Thanks in advance.

You would need the original installation disks or files for the Adobe software to get it onto your iMac, and having it on two computers may not be allowed by your university's licensing. Talk to whoever issued the MacBook.
As to the music, just copy it over to the MacBook, either via Home Sharing, file sharing, or an external storage medium (hard drive, USB flash drive, etc.).

You don't have to do anything with the first iPod that you don't use anymore. If you are planning on keeping it, put in a drawer in your house and forget about it.
You don't need a second account to use with the new iPod. I use one Appl e ID and iTunes library for two iPods, and two iPad. I have different content on all four devices. You can select exactly what you want to sync to each device and it can be different content on all devices.
