CCKM/Fast Roaming CCXv3 and CCXv4 Clients

I am trying to verify for sure if CCXv3 clients can connect to a wlan configured with 802.1X+CCKM, and security WPA2/AES and do fast roaming?
It appears that CCXv3 clients do not support CCKM with 802.1X/EAP TLS.

Keep in mind PMK is specific to an ap and client. If a client roams away from the ap and comes back it doesnt have to reauth becuase it uses the PMK. OKC, uses the orginal PMK generated during your first auth and then shares it with other aps to negate auth .. clients need to support OKC to take full advantage
For flex ..
FlexConnect Groups and CCKM
FlexConnect Groups are required for CCKM fast roaming to work with FlexConnect access points. CCKM fast roaming is achieved by caching a derivative of the master key from a full EAP authentication so that a simple and secure key exchange can occur when a wireless client roams to a different access point. This feature prevents the need to perform a full RADIUS EAP authentication as the client roams from one access point to another. The FlexConnect access points need to obtain the CCKM cache information for all the clients that might associate so they can process it quickly instead of sending it back to the controller. If, for example, you have a controller with 300 access points and 100 clients that might associate, sending the CCKM cache for all 100 clients is not practical. If you create a FlexConnect that includes a limited number of access points (for example, you create a group for four access points in a remote office), the clients roam only among those four access points, and the CCKM cache is distributed among those four access points only when the clients associate to one of them.
Note CCKM fast roaming among FlexConnect and non-FlexConnect access points is not supported. See the "Configuring WPA1 +WPA2" section for information on configuring CCKM.
FlexConnect Groups and Opportunistic Key Caching
Starting in the 7.0.116.0 release, FlexConnect groups enable Opportunistic Key Caching (OKC) to enable fast roaming of clients. OKC facilitates fast roaming by using PMK caching in access points that are in the same FlexConnect group.
This feature prevents the need to perform a full authentication as the client roams from one access point to another. Whenever a client roams from one FlexConnect access point to another, the FlexConnect group access point calculates the PMKID using the cached PMK.
To see the PMK cache entries at the FlexConnect access point, use the show capwap reap pmk command. This feature is supported on Cisco FlexConnect access points.
Note The FlexConnect access point must be in connected mode when the PMK is derived during WPA2/802.1x authentication.
When using FlexConenct groups for OKC or CCKM, the PMK-cache is shared only across the access points that are part of the same FlexConnect group and are associated to the same controller. If the access points are in the same FlexConnect group but are associated to different controllers that are part of the same mobility group, the PMK cache is not updated and CCKM roaming will fail.

  • WPA2+CCKM fast roaming not happening

    Hello,
I'm trying to test fast roaming using a Cisco 2100 Series controller and 2 1140 APs. The initial authentication succeeds fine and the wireless
connection works ok using WPA2+CCKM and LEAP with a Cisco ACS radius server.
The problem is that the client does not attempt to preauthenticate with the other AP because the RSN Capabilities IE in the AP beacons and probe responses do not set the RSN Preauthentication capable bit. I can't figure out what it takes to get the APs to indicate to clients that it can do preauthentication. I'm been crawling through all the documentation I can find, to no avail. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    - Bill

Preauthentication has nothing to do with WPA2 Proactive key caching nor with CCKM.
If you enable CCKM on the SSID you would expect the clients to use CCKM for roaming, no ?
Most clients don't support WPA2 with CCKM combined as they have overlapping roaming mechanism. What are your test clients exactly ? Did you verify if they support WPA2 with cckm ?

  • Fast Roaming and CCKM

We have a WISM blade with two controllers enabled. Single mobility group and no AP groups. We keep having random disconects when our users are in Citrix. Some sugestions I read say that I should enable CCKM. We turned on 802.1x+CCKM on one controller and it seems to work. When we turned on only CCKM mode we can no longer associate clients to any APs on that controller. When would you use CCKM only and when 802.1x+CCKM mode of key mgmt is preffered?

if you select 802.1x + CCKM, both 802.1x and CCKM compatible clients will be able to associate and authenticate. This is the preferred option if you are in a mixed environment (devices supporting and not supporting CCKM).
If you devices cannot associate to the WLAN network when only CCKM is selected, this means that these devices are not CCKM capable.
Another way to verify this is by using the following command on the controller (via telnet):
    show pmk-cache summary
Please note that both the driver and the supplicant used need to support CCKM. the windows supplicant for example (Wireless Zero Config) does not support CCKM.
Also, there are a lot of issues with the Intel Pro Set cards. Best it to use a Cisco card with the Cisco utility, at least for the tests.
    I hope that it helps.

  • Clients roaming in and out of coverage area

    Hi,
I am currently getting reports from my user base that they are having to re-authenticate every 5 min's. They claim this is happening when using our visitor network which is a webauth based setup with a 4 hour session time out. My thinking on this is that the user is roaming in and out of our coverage areas and thus having to reauthorise sooner than expected.
    2 questions on this...
    1. Does this sound like a likely explanation.
    2. Is there any setting I can change to increase the timeout length that will allow a user to wonder in and out of the coverage area before being required to re-authenticate?

    Dylan,
There are two timers especially if you use WebAuth.... The most important especially if the guest users are Apple devices, is the idle timer.  This should be set to 2-4 hours depending... I usually set this to 2 hours so guest can grab lunch and don't have to login.  The session timer is a hard timer and if you have that set to 4 hours, then every 4 hours they will have to login.  The idle timer has to be set lower than the session.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • How to get "fast user switching" and network shares playing nice

I've been alternating between banging my head against a wall and reading every forum I could find to try and get a reasonable compromise between using "Fast user switching" and sharing a folder from a file server.  It baffles me how the network share/mount model of OSX/AFP is completely killed by fast-user-switching; this is a big problem with Apple requiring users to be actively logged in to share music/video from iTunes which therefore essentially requires fast-user-switching if anyone else wants to use the computer.  (anyone find it odd that you can share files without being logged in, but sharing songs requires an active login for each user who is sharing?  Apple: time to make iTunes sharing a service!)
For the sake of example, lets just say I want to share my /Groups folder from my desktop and have it be accessible to my laptop.  Here are all the things that I tried:
Apple Method 1) Share /Groups in the Server.app on the desktop (running Lion Server), use finder on the laptop and drag the share icon to "Login Items", alternative use a startup Apple script using "mount volume"  Both of the options work and will mount the /Groups folder under /Volumes/Groups, of course when the second person logs in via fast-user-switching (and occasionally the first person for no apparent reason), they will get /Volumes/Groups-1 since /Volumes/Groups is already taken.  Tomorrow we log in a different order and now the previously /Volumes/Groups-1 user has their mount at /Volumes/Group and vice versa.  Any links, aliases, finder sidebar references, and application settings which pointed to yesterday's location are now BROKEN.  Not very user friendly to my mother-in-law who is trying to find those pictures of the kids and doesn't know anything about mount points. I also can't reasonably mirror the file location structure on the desktop so that application preferences that are synced between the two (portable home directories) work.   fail.
Apple Method 2) Use automounter and set up by hand direct maps for /Groups or an indirect maps for the children of /Groups.  Now it will automatically get mounted to /network/servers/SERVER/Groups/ on the laptop and on the desktop it will automatically create a similar symlink structure so that the same path (/network/servers/SERVER/Groups) work both on desktop and laptop.  Cool.  Except when the second person logs in, the /network/servers/SERVER/Groups/ mountpoint is already owned by the first user and they don't have any permissions to access it.  Fail.
Apple Method 3) Use mount_afs and specify directly the mount-points.  Have each user have their own startup AppleScript which mounts /Groups to a different location (e.g. /Users/Shared/username/Groups) that way they don't conflict with multiple users.  On the desktop, set up symlinks from /Users/Shared/username/Group to /Groups so that it will be the same as the client and applications settings will work when synchronized back/forth by portable-home-directories.  Will it work, yes it does, but what a bear to maintain.  Is this really what I should expect to do just to have multiple users on my desktop and laptop (which again is essentially required now if I want to do any type of iTunes sharing).  This can't be what apple expects.
What I ended up doing - the "not quite apple" solution.
Non-Apple Method 4) After a read of "Autofs: Automatically Mounting Network File Shares in Mac OS X" (http://images.apple.com/business/docs/Autofs.pdf) at the very end there is a single paragraph  of "Kerberized NFS": "A Kerberized NFS mount can have multiple connections from multiple users, each using the correct user’s credentials for each transaction. This allows administrators to support multiple users, each authenticated with their own credentials to the same mount point. This is very different from AFP and SMB mounts," (emphasis mine)
It appears that by using good 'ole NFS (abeint with Kerberos for security!) you can actually have multiple users on the same mount point.  Roughly following the guidance at https://support.apple.com/kb/TA24986?viewlocale=en_US.  What I needed to do was:
    1) create /etc/exports on my desktop and add a single line "/Groups -sec=krb5".  The existence of /etc/exports triggered a start of nfsd which no longer has any GUI options in Lion.
    2) Add a line to /etc/auto_master on my laptop "/-  auto_mymounts" to reference a new direct map.
    3) Create /etc/auto_mymounts and add a single line "/Groups         SERVER:/Groups" to create the direct map.
THAT'S IT.  Three lines in three files.
Now when I log into my laptop, there is a /Groups that is a network mount of my desktop's /Groups, same location AND it works for all of my users, even simultaneously.
In the end I'm happy with what I've got, but man was this a difficult path just to support fast-user-switching.  In Lion, Apple appears to be getting away from NFS (no longer turned on by default and remove from the GUI controls) but clearly this really useful functionality which doesn't exist in AFP.
I'm really curious, after all this work.  Any other ways to accomplish this?

In my example above, yes I chose to mount the share "Groups" to the top of the root since that is where I put it on my server and I wanted to keep them similar; but that was just my preference, it isn't a requirement.  You can export and mount from other directories.

  • IDES and other Clients in one SAP ERP 2005 System

    Hello everybody,
within a project for my master thesis i have to set up an SAP ERP 2005 System. This system should contain at least three clients. One of them should be the IDES client. Another client should be set up with an existing template. The third client should represent a smal company or at least i should set up some example process from the company (there is no need to map the whole company in the system). These processes should be realized with the SAP standard processes and they should just show how to map easy processes to SAP ERP. Neither the second nor the third client need to run in a productive environment, everything is just for training and testing.
    My main Questions are:
I've already set up the SAP ERP 2005 System but without IDES. Can I still integrate the IDES Content or do i have to reinstall the whole System with a complete IDES Installation?
Can I implement the second and third client in the same ERP System (where the IDES client is) or do i need different Systems for it? Even if there is no productive use for the clients we would like to have a Development and a Quality Landscape. Is this possible with the IDES client? Actually I have two fast machines for this purpose - one for quality and one for development.
I would be very grateful for any hints.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Martin

    Hi,
You can use SAP IDES as Dev and Quailty. There is no diffrence in full sap or IDES .In IDES we have some pree configure Clients and full Ecc we have three client 000,001 and 066.
So you can use SAP IDES as DEV.
Your Question :I've already set up the SAP ERP 2005 System but without IDES. Can I still integrate the IDES Content or do i have to reinstall the whole System with a complete IDES Installation?
Ans : you install diffrent mechine. We do't use any content.Do reinstall

  • Login intermittently slow with ZCM agent AND Novell client

We continue to struggle with intermittently slow logins in our environment. In testing, we noticed that logins are very fast (10-20 seconds) when only the Novell Client is installed, and very fast (~10 seconds) when only the ZCM agent is installed. However, when they are both installed, logins slow down, sometimes to 1.5 minutes or longer.
We have checked DNS and rDNS, and they are both configured properly. SLP is working properly as demonstrated by the fast logins when only the client is installed. We use LDAP for user lookup, and it also works very fast to resolve user names (~ 1 second).
We are using ZCM 10.3.1, and the client is fully patched as well (both Novell Client 2 and 4.91)
Are there any specific settings (for the ZCM agent or the client itself) that might address this issue?

My apologies, I told you to remove the wrong thing.
I should have said NMAS instead of CASA.
I am just so used to saying CASA when talking about ZCM.
In regards to NMAS, you could simply rename "NWSSO.DLL" as a test.
If NMAS is installed which is tested by the existence of this DLL, then
a certain NMAS call is always made, which in some cases can take a long
    time.

  • Strange problem with AIX server and windows clients

I am having a real bizzare problem with WLS 7.0.1 running on AIX 5.1 and
clients on windows. We have J2SE Swing application as a client.
If the client is w2k or XP, the first client gets good response. If I start

I kill the first client the second client continues to be slow. If I have 2

getting good response. NT and W2K laptops are seating right next to each
other on the same n/w and infact the NT is a much slower and lessor memory

and the clients "behave" normally i.e I get consistent repsponse time (it

  • Issue with parallel operation of SAP NW SSO 2.0 and SNC Client Encryption (Logon Groups)

    Hi!
One of our customers is using the SNC Client Encryption solution to ensure encryption using SNC (based on Kerberos Technology) for their SAP GUI Dialog connections. They have lots of SAP backends DEV, QAS, PRD all with the SNC Client Encryption SNC Lib installed. The profile parameter snc/identity/as contains the following value: p:CN=SAP/<ServiceAccount>@<DOMAIN>.
    Example: p:CN=SAP/[email protected]
The customer is using one AD Service Account "SNCServiceUser" with one registered SPN "SAP/SNCServiceUser" for all systems (yes, this is not recommended... but the case).
Important: All users use group entries in the SAP Logon (saplogin.ini). Means, for SAP logon the SNC name can not be manually configured on the SAP Front End. With group logons, the application server's SNC name is dynamically requested by the message server each time a SAP GUI connection is started. The SNC Name is greyed out in this case as dynamically obtained from the applications servers profile parameter snc/identity/as.
Now our customer implements SAP NetWeaver Single Sign-On 2.0 within his landscape. Based on the Secure Login Server 2.0 (SP3) he likes to use X.509 based authentication to his AS ABAP backends using SAP GUI SNC while others still use SNC Client Encryption.
Replacing the SNC Library on the AS ABAP
The Secure Login Library 2.0 (SP3) has been installed on one of the ABAP systems and the SNC Client Encryption SNC Library (which is based on SSO 1.0) is no longer used, thus we changed the parameter snc/gssapi_lib to point to the new SNC library. We removed the old PSE.ZIP containing the keytab and created the new SAPSNCSKERB.PSE incl. the keytab and proper credentials. To ensure parallel operation, we kept the snc/identity/as value as is =  p:CN=SAP/[email protected].
After restarting the system with initialized Secure Login Library 2.0, still the SNC client encryption works fine for existing users.
    The problem
We created on the Secure Login Server an SNC certificate for the AS ABAP which has the following X.509 Distinguised Name Fomat: CN=SAP/[email protected] This is to avoid having to change the snc/identity/as to an "real" X.509 DN which would lead to non-working SNC Client Encryption for all the other users using SAP GUI and logon groups.
As soon as we install the PSE via STRUST on the system the SNC Client Encryption solution stops working with error „Server refuses kerberos key exchange“.
As part of an pilot implementation we have installed Secure Login Client 2.0 (SP3) on some test PCs. The test PC with SLC is able to perform Single Sign-On with SNC based on X.509 (incl. Encryption) to the ABAP system.
Seems the SAP System now only tries to do X.509 based authentication thus key exchange fails. The problem is, we cannot change the snc/identity/as value because of the logon groups. If we were able to do so, we would in any case set the server identity to X.509 DN and in addition create the SAPSNCSKERB.PSE incl. keytab. This should work, as confirmed by SAP see this post.
Any ideas how to solve this and have both solutions in parallel?
    Appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Carsten

    Hi all,
we was able to fix the issue. It was an issue with the customers cluster configuration and the  $SECUDIR variable. This tricky issue leads to non working or sporadic working SNC Client Encryption...
This was how the configuration looks before:
    Environment variable $SECUDIR is defined:
    "/ABCDEF<SID>/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSxx/sec“
    sapgenpse seclogin -l -v
    running seclogin with USER="<SID>adm"
    Credentials for username '<SID>adm':
    0 (LPS:OFF):
             (LPS:OFF): /ABCDEF<SID>/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSxx/sec/SAPSNCSKERB.pse
    1 (LPS:OFF):
             (LPS:OFF): /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSxx/sec/SAPSNCS.pse
After changing the $SECUDIR to "/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSxx/sec“ and re-creating the credentials, it worked like a charm.
As a result of this we can confirm, this configuration and SNC Client Encryption works with CommonCryptoLib in parallel to the SSO configuration.
And Valerie was right with 2. SLC starting from V. 1.0 SP2 PL3 was able to convert the CN= part of the SNC Name into an SPN, was my mistake. In addition SNC Client Encryption starting from Version 1 SP1 PL1 does this also.. just to make this clear
Thread closed hope this helps someone

  • What is the different between Sharepoint fast search service and Sql server fulltext search?

    HI ,
I want to kow what is the different between Sharepoint fast search service and Sql server fulltext search?
Or Can I abstract the Sharepoint fast search from the Sharepoint platform as a isolate component?
    Thank you.
    James

They are very, very different beasts.
Firstly FAST Search for SharePoint is the old name for the product and is only relevant for SharePoint 2010 not 2013. It got merged into the standard SharePoint search for the 2013 release.
SharePoint search is aimed at providing a Bing or Google like experience for your intranet content, as well as providing some nifty features that are purely SharePoint releated along the way. That means it can crawl SharePoint content, file shares,
outlook mailboxes, internal and external websites and probably fifty other different things if you really tried. Whilst i'm not an expert on SQL full text search I believe it's intended to provide a search feature for content held within SQL databases
    and tables.
Can you run SharePoint purely for Search? Yes, definitely.

  • Screen has a bluish tint after fast user switching and then warning tone

Hi all I'm having a bit of a problem that I hope someone can help me with. First the details, I have a MBP bought in late '07 and running Tiger. I was doing full backups using "Backup" and I also had Safari, iTunes, and Word open. I briefly switched to my other account using fast user switching and when I returned to the original account the whole screen had a blue tint to it. Like the color profile was off. This has happened before and a restart usually cures it, I haven't restarted yet but I am fairly certain it will correct the problem this time too. But is there anyway to prevent this? My second question is the one I'm more worried about. It also has happened before but usually when using more CPU intensive applications. When I went to System Preferences and opened up the display preferences in an attempt to correct the previous problem I heard a very loud tone. Like some type of warning tone, it was loud enough that it startled me. I had iTunes playing and after the tone the music got very quiet but relaunching it brought it back to normal. I'm just wondering is this some type of warning tone? Is it something I should be concerned about? Besides the music everything else seemed unaffected, although the previous times that this has happened usually when using handbrake there was noticeable problems after the tone (like applications crashing). All of these problems are gone after the computer is restarted though. Does anyone have any insight on these issues? Thank you.

OK I ran TechTool and everything passed except for the volume scan. Then I checked this with Disk Utility and the HD failed for a few minor reasons, like invalid block count. I repaired it using the fsck -fy command in single user mode. The computer seems a little faster now. I don't know if this error is related to the beep in any way, I may try talking to an Apple genius to see if they know. Since it seems like pretty minor errors I'm not too worried about it but it does seem to be happening often. The last time I had this error was when I posted a question here about it which I just checked was on March 1st. So this error happened again after a little more than 2 weeks which seems excessive to me. Any thoughts?

And i've a mutiformat viewer which i need to install it on Oracle9iAS to be run when a client tries to access any of the listed documents. So, how can i install this viewer to Oracle 9iAS and push client to run it ?

Si vous avez utilisé la commande Save As Template depuis Pages, il y a forcément un dossier
    iWork > Pages
    contenant Templates > My Templates
comme il y a un dossier
    iWork > Numbers
    contenant Templates > My Templates

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Your battery is running quickly because your cellular data connection is weak.
