18 Month No Financing

I am very upset with Best Buy on its alliance with CitiBank and though I know there's nothing more than I could do, I thought I just post my feelings on this.
I've always done my electronic shopping at Best Buy and always excited to keep my Elite status for my reward zone for the past years. It's primarily because of that I make Best Buy my first go to place for electronics and do shopping for my customers. When I chose the option of purchase of 18 month no financing fee, I figured it was probably similar to what best buy had with chase in that there was 18 month no financing on large purchases and you start to pay interest if you go over. But my mistake was trusting Best Buy's decision for this merger. I chose this option, only to find out of deferred interest charges on that option of $773 in one swoop! Now, I've over exceeded my balance (yes I am aware there's no "cap"), my monthly payments are, or course, larger, and now it shows on my credit report that I've exceeded my balance which is critical for downgrade on my credit report. I'm stuck paying these fees now.
I blame myself for not reading it thoroughly but again, it's because of my loyalty to Best Buy that I felt it would be more of the same as before. I can't justify coming back and making large purchases anymore. I don't even care for buying any purchases at all. You may say this is a CitiBank issue and not Best Buy, but that's just deflecting the issue. Best Buy acquired Citibank (or vice versa). You are both the same now. They're policies are now Best Buy's policies. Just own it.  I quit CitiBank years ago because the way they hold interest is ridiculous. I should've remember that. Anyway, that's my feelings for it and that's that. I plan to make a large payment soon and close my account.

Hello jramz52,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for being a loyal Elite Plus customer. I'm sorry to hear you were caught by surprise when you saw the deferred charges on your My Best Buy credit card account. I can imagine how distressing it would be to realize you have to pay a lot more than you were originally expecting.
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify that while Citibank, N.A. is the issuer of your My Best Buy credit card account, we did not merge with the company.  If you made a purchase using one of our interest free financing offers, to avoid paying the deferred interest, you would need to ensure you were making the minimum monthly payments and paid the full balance by the end of the financing term. For future reference, the promotion expiration is not be the same as the payment due date. The expiration is determined from the date of the purchase; Therefore the interest was charged in full accordance with the terms of your contract with Citibank and as detailed in your monthly statements.
That being said, it is my goal to assist our valued customers as best as I can, so I will be sharing your concerns with Citibank, and they should be reaching out to you directly within the next 3-5 business days to discuss this further. Please let me know if you do not hear from them within this timeframe.
Thank you again for sharing your feedback here on the forum, and do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

  • Never Received Points for an Ipad Air Purchase even When No Financing Was Choosen

I'm hoping to find resolution on this matter, so I'm posting it here. I did call customer service many times and to no avail. as well as the credit card company. It was just a waste of time and I was frustrated at the lack of knowledge (I was told different things), the wait time, and their lack of effort to help you. In my last call, they gave me a claim number as they will let the back office research it. I read a post that the back office was no help as well, so I'm posting it here.
I ordered an Ipad Air online at a store last June 2014 and at the same time I applied for the credit card with a membership in your program. The guy who helped me told me that I will earn points with purchases and can convert it to a reward certificate to use. Points doesn't expire but when converted to certificate, the certificate does. Anyway, last week I went to purchase something fron Best Buy and ask for my points balance. The lady told me that I don't have a reward certificate, but said I have to open an account online to check my points. I opened an account online and to my surprised I didn't get any points for my purchase. I called your customer service and was told that my purchase was already more than 3 months and too late to report missing points, One customer service told me, it needs to be reported within 6 months. One was even rude and blamed me for not checking and that I should just let it go and stop wasting my time and that sometimes, even when you use your credit card, it fails to attached the purchase. Best Buy Customer Service is really something! I called the credit card customer service and asked why my purchase was not attached to my membership ID when I use my credit card. I was trasferred to the Rewards customer service and was told that points were not given because I choose Zero Financing. I told her  that I choose No Financing and was eligible for double points as stated in my receipt. She put me on hold and consult a specialist. She told me that I choose Zero Finacing and I said that's not true. She trasferred me to the credit card customer service to verify and I told her to stay in the line. She hanged up before the credit card customer service confirmed that I had no financing ( I paid in full when I got my statement). I called the Rewards customer service who opened a claim and told me that the back office will research my claim. At this point, I'm not hopeful, so I'm hoping somebody can help me. It does state in my receipt that I choose No Financing for double reward points.

    Hello udgbbuy,
Welcome to the Best Buy forum, and thank you for posting.
Before we get to the heart of the matter at hand, I would strongly suggest saving yourself the time and not calling Citibank again because they have no say over the My Best Buy program.  I would also suggest that you read over the Program Terms because whatever information you may have been told is not exactly correct.  A certificate will be automatically issued based on your certificate preference (defaults at $5) and points can be forfeited if an account goes 12 consecutive months without activity.
With that out of the way, I can confirm that the iPad you ordered back in June 2014 did post to your My Best Buy account.  You should be able to see that order by logging into your My Best Buy account and scrolling your purchase history back to 2014; however, you were not awarded any points because the iPad was applied to a 12 month promotional financing offer.  As you have come to find out, any purchases that are applied to a promotional financing offer do not qualify for points (base or bonus).
I do want to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced, as you should not have had to spend so much time on the phone trying to get all of this figured out.  I am going to send you a private message so that I can gather some additional information and to go over your My Best Buy account with you.  To check your private messages, you will want to log into the forum and click on the little yellow envelope icon located at the top of the page.

  • 2011 Macbook Air 13" or 2011 Macbook Pro 17"? Which to get?

Hello there, I just bought my 2011 17" macbook pro exactly one week ago from Best Buy (They have a 36 month 0% financing deal going on at mine) and I just downloaded and installed OS X Lion on it yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it. HOWEVER,if there's one thing Apple knows how to do and so well, it's market. I'm kind of drooling over the new 13" Macbook Air (1.7Ghz, 4gb Ram, the high end one) that they just released and now I'm completely torn on which one I should get. I usually have a whole lot of music and pictures on my mac (about 15gb worth...i guess not that much really) and I mostly use it for emailing, web-surfing, networking, etc...But I also like to do some casual gaming like with N.O.V.A. 2, etc. I just need opinions on what the best choice would be for me? I know the Air has a smaller screen and all and that its performance will be less than that of the 17" Pro, but given all that i'm still torn as I dont know which I would like better. I like the fact that the air powers on instantly, its a little more portable (even though I hardly ever move my macbook rpo unless its from the table to my bed) I guess I'm just trying to get ideas on which everyone else prefers or what they would recommend?

It's real difficult to compare those two models, because you have an uneven playing field in the HDD category. The speed and responsiveness of the SSD in the MacBook Air is a real game changer. But the overall CPU/GPU horsepower package in the 17" will absolutely destroy the lower powered 1.7 (or 1.8) i5/i7 with the paltry Intel 3000 HD GPU.
Day-to-day usage, again due to the SSD, would definitely give the impression that it's faster, snappier and more responsive. But in games, even like N.O.V.A 2 the dedicated GPU would really shine.
For what you use the machine for, I'm honestly surprised you went with the 17" MBP in the first place. That's a beast of a machine, sounds very overkill for what you've described.

  • PM Order settlements - Difference between the amounts settled

    Hi All,
This is regarding the PM Order settlements.
Every month end finance team run KO8G and settle the PM Order costs for that period (month). In the process the Orders are settled using a variant, which captures all the orders that has changed/created during the focused period.
But in the report S_ALR_87013015 - List: Actual Debit/Credit there are balances for previous settlements and thereu2019s a difference between the amount settled and the debit/credit amounts.
When drilling gown we found that this is due to following reasons,
    1.     Some orders are not settled fully.
    2.     Equipments issued against a Order are returned after the settlement process
Ex: one Order has settled in Oct 2008 initially and fully in Jan 2009. However one material has been returned to stores in February 2009. Therefore a difference (cost of the material) between total actual cost (Dr Amount) and settled amount has been arisen.
The Orders of nature 1 will be captured and settled in the subsequent run of KO8G.
But my question is how can we address the orders of nature 2? Changing the settlement variant is one option.
Also appreciate if someone can explain the SAP-best practice of PM-Order settlements.
    Thanks,
    Thushantha.

    Hi Thushantha,
After returning the material to store check the actual cost of maintenance order. Once you fully settle the order means it becomes zero.
When you will return material to warehouse against maintenance order once again carry out settlement of maintenanc order then check for your nature 2.

  • Restart of PO workflow

    Hi All,
We need to change the approval workflow because User 1 has already left Company last month.
Finance has changed cost center owner & WBS owner to MGR's upper manager.
Now for restarting the workflow , we have changed Internal Note in PO for not making influence to outside.
The restart WF seems good. We can see the upper manager's name in preview.
    The, press ORDER button
We got the message in the Approval TAB as DISPLAY MIGHT NOT BE UP TO DATE.SELECT REFRESH.
When again select Refresh & then press "ORDER" it pop the same in the approval screen of the PO
finally WF goes back to previous route unexpectedly.WF recognizes who is the approver, but not updating.
ButWHEN change the delivery date, the WF updated and PO goes to correct manager.
The restart WF seems good. We can see the upper manager's name in preview. Same as failed case
    The, press ORDER button
WF requires to refresh the screen. Sa as failed case
    WF is finally routed correctly
I want to know why PO Workflow is not happing when Change in Internal text & But successfully happening when Delivery date is changed
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Keith,
    Thanks for the Reply.
But the same was succesfull in Test system with Internal note text change
This is the only field where in they are eligible to make internal changes beacuse of trigerring the Woflow again.
Basically The system Restarts the WF & finds the correct approver after change in Internal note. But then when we press Order button of the PO we get the message.
is it like the refresh button is not working as it should work.??
    Some more suggestions required Please

  • Excel Sending Email via VBA - Suppressing the Warnings

    Hello everybody,
I would be very appreciative if someone more knowledgeable than would help me out. I am building a VBA code in Excel that will send an Excel File as an attachment in an email to somebody using Outlook. I can get everything to work just fine except that a

  • Ipad Air 32 gb

I have been following information about the price match.  I am looking to purchase 2 plus keyboards, screen protectors, and software.I am confident that I understand the price match.  Here's my question / request.  Wal-Mart has the exact same model of the Ipad as Best Buy.  Walmart has offered 6,12,18,and 24 month free financing using taper total sale amount.  The more you spend the longer you get free financing for.  I know that Best Buy really does not run the credit card, but with Walmart doing this, shouldn't Best Buy working with Capital One to offer similar for their customers?  I would rather deal with Best Buy than Walmart.  I wonder if a community connector could pass this up to the higher ups at Best Buy?

    Hi russc57,
Thanks for letting us know! We rely on customer feedback -- both positive and negative -- to improve our service offerings, so your input is appreciated. I'll make sure the appropriate parties have the chance to look into it.
While we aren't able to provide any specifics behind why certain financing plans are offered and others aren't, rest assured that we're constantly evaluating these partnerships to find the best solutions for our customers. Special financing offers may also be made available from time to time too, just like our current 12-month financing option for cell phones $299 or more. Additionally, like MMaier mentioned, remember that we're able to match the price of most identical, in-stock items available through local retail competitors. Full details can be found here:

  • How do I pay?

Since Friday have I been trying to buy Adobe Creativ cloud (private for existing CS-costumers) but there i always someting wrong with the system. Now I have filled in this form, five times. But the only respond I get is that the system is not available and can´t complete the transaction. And the support number is, of course, busy.
What should I do? How do I buy? I'd love to buy it before the end of the month.

Apple Store UK are currently running a 6-month 0% finance option. Give them a call on 0800 039 1010.
    This page refers.
I doubt you could go as low as £30pm though without incurring a significant interest payment on top of the cost of the iMac.

  • Purchasing a ring

Good Morning All, I am currently shopping around for an engagement ring but unfortunately do not have the cash for it.  What would placing around 4,000 on a card and paying it off in 3 months be better than taking out a loan and doing the same?

I purchased an engagement ring roughly 12 months ago and recieved 12 months 0% finance.I ended up paying it off within 6 months but I knew if I put it on my credit card it would screw up my utilization percentage.I try to keep mine below 5%.Plus, loans like this can often raise your credit score a little as they show you can handle multiple types of credit. The only reason I would ever put a large purchase like this on a CC would be: 1. If the rewards you would be getting on the card for the purchase would outweigh the risk/your credit dropping a little2. If the card still had a 0% intro and you would definately pay it off in the next few months3. If you couldn't handle another HP on your report I would still highly recommend not putting this charge on your CC and taking out a 0% finance loan with the company.Nothing that  baby secured loan at trivial interest rates can't solve... or anyone with an auto / personal / mortgage / etc.  Consumer Finance Accounts are to be avoided wherever possible if there's equivalent paths: if it's a smart move financially fine, but FICO does penalize you somewhat for it. Utilization is temporary, don't understand the rationale to micromanage to that level honestly.  Big expenses happen and are a normal part of life, living in fear of lenders beating you with the AA stick makes little sense.  It's one thing to be maxxing out your file sure, but single tradeline utillization with a pattern of paying it off in chunks?  Not a problem certainly at least in today's market.I try to treat my CC as a debit card. I never add anything I don't have in my bank account. It is a good rule to follow but I understand not everyone can do that/not everyone wants to. But it does promote healthy spending habits, and I was trying to relay that back to OP. Plus, what happens if he puts $4k on a card with a $5k limit. It would kill his util very quickly. Then what happens if you then came in to some financial hardship a few weeks later? At least with a loan you have like 12 months to pay it off, and if you pay it off quicker; great. It just seems safer.I agree with every one of your points except the desire to run out and obtain the 0% financing through Kay's or whoever on the theory it'll improve one's FICO score.   Safer maybe, maxxing out one tradeline isn't a dealbreaker if you have additional limits, I lost 14 points on a mortgage score from it off my 660 at that time.  Non-trivial but not end of the world if not applying for anything serious.  Taking a new tradeline that FICO assuredly views as a CFA, suboptimal long term if you think you're confident in your financial stability.   The breathing room generated by the CFA I would suggest is less than you suggest, lenders expect CC's to be used as short-term float, that's what they were designed for and it's not a big deal as a result if we're talking financial equivalency. SE summed it up well in terms of tradeoffs.

  • Re: Deferred Interest Charge

I also got deferred interest added to my statement. Last time I went to best buy I asked about the interest rates and how it worked. The sales man said I pretty much have 12 months free finance and other things over a certain amount may qualify for 18 months. So I guess that he was wrong and I got charged over $100. Lesson learned to just try things out at best buy and buy it at amazon. Once I pay off the credit card it will be cut up and never used again. No thanks sales man at best buy!!!!!

    Hello Jenn8o8,
Finding an unexpected charge on your billing statement would be an alarming sight, so I’m can imagine your confusion seeing a deferred interest charge appear your My Best Buy credit card account. While we do offer a few repayment options for select purchases, it seems like they were not fully explained to you by the store associates when you made your purchase. Please know Best Buy has nothing to gain when customers do not pay off their purchase within the promotional period, and I apologize for any frustration this may have caused.
As you may have learned, promotional financing plans require minimum monthly payments to be made and the full balance to be paid within the agreed timeframe; interest will be charged to accounts from the purchase date if these terms are not met. As it’s my hope you decide keep the card and use it towards any future purchases, please know any details surrounding these repayment terms can be found in our promotional financing information in-store, on BestBuy.com, in your credit card agreement and on your monthly statements.
Citibank, N.A. is the issuer of your My Best Buy credit card account, and as such, we do not have the ability to review your account in detail. I’d be glad to share your case with our Citibank contacts for further review though, so I’ve sent you a private message to gather some additional information from you. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
