1st I'm legally blind hard to search your database. Issue = when I upgraded to firefox v4.0.1 Album covers on Amazon can no longer be seen on screen. They can be seen using Explorer browser. What must I do to re capture this feature in Firefox?
I have been using Firefox for sometime and when latest version was available I upgraded to the new version 4.0.1. After the upgrade I am unable to see pictures in my browser, when viewing the amazon.com site. Before the upgrade I was able to view music album covers, movie covers, etc. beside titles descriptions and pricing information. If I return to my Explorer browser these pictures can still be viewed. Pictures do not appear when using the upgraded Firefox browser. Because I am legally blind I sometimes use the pictures to help me identify what I am looking for at a glance. Because I do not want to capture all my bookmarks or reinstall Firefox I would like to know if there is a simple fix. Thank you, DJ

I have liked Firefox much better than Windows Explorer for the past three years. In the past two weeks, I cannot open Google calendar. I get this msg. "The page isn't redirecting properly. I didn't change anything with my cookies & I can get Google calendar if I use Windows explorer.

I cannot shut dow my MacBook Pro using the apple icon (as it was suppose to be), actually I have to press and hold the on/off buttom. I have taken twice for Mac dealer and they did not solve the problem. What must I do? I would to remark that I have installed 2 antivirus and uninstalled one of them. Uninstall the other AV software. They are not needed. All they do is cause trouble like you are having now.
If you have been forcing the Mac to shut down with the power switch you may nave corrupted your disk. You should repair it with disk Utilty to remove any corruption the shutdwons may have cased.

Sorry but that makes no sense.
The Lion install files are not stored on your computer so they can't be damaged. When using the Lion Recovery HD and you want to Re-Install Lion the install files are downloaded from the internet before the actual install begins.
If at one time you saved the Lion install files, secifically the InstallESD.DMG, and created your own Lion Install USB thumb drive and that is what you are booting from then this same type of thing has happened to me.
If you can't boot to the current Lion install, or you wiped your hard drive, you can try booting to the included Recovery HD and then download and install Lion or try the Online Internet Recovery HD system by holding down the Command+r keys OR the Command+Option+r keys when starting the system. One of those keyboard combos will take you to the online Lion Recovery system where you can download and install Lion. -
Generating slideshows that can be viewed using any browser
I'm about to reach my wit's end with respect to using iPhoto to generate a slide show that can
1) easily be viewed in all of the major browsers, and
2) not be such a large file.
At present, I am using iPhoto to generate a slide show. This is straight forward and simple BUT if you have several pictures, the output file gets very large very quickly. I was able to easily produce 5 separate slide shows with a minimum of muss and fuss.
However, the various output files were quite large and attracted the attention of the persons responsible for managing our storage space. I was asked to take the iPhoto produced slide show and convert this to a Flash presentation. A conversion application (Any Video Converter) was recommended and I used this to generate a Flash presentation (the file extension is sfw).
It should be noted that these presentations were generated on a MacBook Pro, copied to a flash drive, and converted to a sfw format on a Windows machine. The files were then returned to the original MacBook Pro using the same flash drive.
At this point, using iWeb, I embedded the presentations on a web page using the appropriate snippet.
Browsing the generated web pages using any Mac, I can see all of the Flash presentations.
Browsing the generated web pages using any Windows based machine, I CANNOT see any of the Flash presentations.
All of that leads to the following question:
I'd like to generate slideshows using the photos I have gathered in iPhoto. However, given the problems I have experienced to date, it would seem that I should consider using something other than iPhoto to generate the slide shows. It is an absolute requirement that whatever I generate be viewable using any browser.
Can someone recommend a product (or process) that uses (interacts) with iPhoto to generate a variety of presentations that can be viewed using any browser?
Thanks.Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have a MobileMe account? If so create a MMe gallery in iPhoto with the movies and publish. Then any browser will be able to view the slideshow movies. This gallery is an example: Movie Gallery
HOWEVER, be sure that your movies do not have a blank first frame so it doesn't look like mine does. I'm in the process of removing those blank frames. But you can see the concept. -

Why can't I use my browser to download a pic. to an aol. contest?
Why can't I use my browser to download a picture to an AOL contest?
It is the Adobe product I just purchased. I want to put a pic. which is in the Adobe program and use the browser to insert the pic. after my entering a contest. the browser will not attach any pics. or documents from Adobe.

I have a Windows 2003 Server 64-Bit, and when I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.1 now it won't run, it keeps saying to restart the computer to complete the installation, but I've restarted theserver 4 times, and I still can't use it.
I ended up putting it in DFU mode. It's kinda hard to tell it was in DFU mode because nothing showed on the screen, it was just black, but the sounds from the computer helped to tell me it was connected.
Itunes still didn't recognize the device for whatever reason.
So I used redsn0w. I don't know if I can say that on these forums, but considering itunes was worthless at this point I am going to give credit where credit is due.
Now I am giving itunes a second chance to upgrade to 5.1, if it doesn't work, well, back to redsnow and maybe I will even jailbreak it this time rather than just using the fecovery fix found under extras. -

You won't be able to create a new iCloud account on your phone as the maximum number of accouts have already been created. Your only options are to either re-use one of the accounts previously created or create a new account to use on a different iOS device or Mac (running OS X 10.7.2 or higher), if you have one.

When I upgraded to Firefox 7 I lost my ability to scroll using my ultraNav Track Point or my UltraNav Touch Pad on my Lenovo Thinkpad. I can still scroll on Internet Explorer or in other applications. How do I fix this?

It took me a few attempts to get it right. Last time I tried it I got the card id wrong.
For others: I created the following file
/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
with the contents
options snd-hda-intel id=Generic1 index=1
I rebooted. I accepted the KDE prompt about devices being removed. I unmuted everything with alsamixer again.
Sound now works in VLC (audio settings to default) and Firefox, and also in both at the same time. Kmix also works as expected when I set the Master Channel to HD Audio Generic. Headphones jack also works.

When I upgraded to Firefox 4.0 I saw a message that said the new version was no longer compatible with CLIPMATE. What can I do now? Are there similar clipping extensions?

When I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 a couple days ago, the toolbar that included the sunburst security symbol followed by "this site is safe" and "notify us" disappeared. I also had cut, copy, past and print icons on that toolbar, and they also disappeared. The same thing happened after the previous upgrade, but I discovered the lost toolbar hidden behind the "Home - Welcome to Centurylink" tab just under the menu toolbar. All I had to do to get it back was click on the down arrow after the word "Centurylink" (Centurylink is my Internet provider) . After the last upgrade that down arrow is no longer there.
My computer is an Ultra Horizon X433, Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHZ 4M 1333 processor. OS is Windows XP ProIt sounds as though one of your add-on toolbars was not labeled as compatible with Firefox 5. You can check for disabled add-ons here:

Try the Extensions category, the lower list of grayed out items.
If Firefox disabled some add-ons (especially extensions), it likely is because they include a list of compatible Firefox versions and haven't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If they worked on Firefox 4, there is a very good chance they will work on Firefox 5.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

I was using open office spreadsheet today and inadvertantly clicked on a menu item that caused the Apple toolbar to disappear when I am in open office. How do I get it back at the top of my screen? I am currently using OS 10 Lion.
Click on the Menu bar and go to View . Or, hover over where the Menu bar shiuld be and click on it when it appears. Try quitting and relaunching Finder.
