2.1 is killing my exchange

I have restored my iPhone 3G now four times with 2.1 and did not even sync it. I go to set up my exchange and when I set it up its fails.. so when It fails i hit next to save the mail settings I have set up. Then I go into edit my settings and the phone freezes up.. When I go to set how many days to get email from it freezes and restarts.. when I go into re-edit the mail server settings... freezes and restarts??? What am I supposed to do when I can't even set up my exchange with out my phone locking up and having to restore?

Some of us that have been having Exchange related issues were able to resolve them by a hard reset. Here is the thread we have been working in: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1706652&tstart=0
Try doing a hard reset of your phone, home+lock buttons for 10+ seconds. Good luck!

  • Exchange 2010 SP3, RU5 - Massive Transaction Log File Generation

    Hey All,
I am trying to figure out why 1 of our databases is generating 30k Log Files a day! The other one is generating 20K log files a day. The database does not grow in size as the log files are generated, the problem is log file generation.
I've tried running through some of the various solutions out there, reviewed message tracking logs, rpc client access logs, IIS Logs - all of which show important info, but none of which actually provide the answers.
I Stopped the following services to see if that would affect the log file generation in any way, and it has not!
    MS Exchange Transport
    Mail Submission
    IIS (Site Stopped in IIS)
    Mailbox Assistants
    Content Indexing Service
With the above services stopped, I still see dozens (or more) log files generated in under 10 minutes, I also checked mailbox size reports (top 10) and found that several users mailboxes were generating item count increases for one user of
about 300, size increases for one user of about 150Mb (over the whole day).
I am not sure what else to check here? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Robert

Hmm - this sounds like an device is chewing up the logs.
If you use log parser studio, are there any stand out devices in terms of the # of hits?
And for the ExMon was that logged over a period of time?  The default 60 second window normally misses a lof of stuff.  Just curious!

    Rhoerick,
Thanks for the response. When checking the logs the highest number of hits were the (Source) Load Balancers, Port 25 VIP. The problem i was experience was the following:
    1) I kept expecting the log file generation to drop to an acceptable rate of 10~20 MB Per Minute (Max). We have a large environment and use the exchange sevrers as the mail relays for the hated Nagios monitoring environment
    2) We didn't have our enterprise monitoring system watching SMTP traffic, this is  being resolved.
    3) I needed to look closer at the SMTP transport database counters, logs, log files and focus less on the database log generation, i did do some of that but not enough of that.
    4) My troubleshooting kept getting thrown off due to the monitoring notifications seeming to be sent out in batches (or something similar) stopping the transport service for 10 ~ 15 minutes several times seemed to finally "stop the transactions logs
from growing at a psychotic rate".
    5) I am re-running my data captures now that i have told the "Nagios Team" to quit killing the exchange servers, with their notifications, sometimes as much as 100+ of the same notifications for the same servers, issues. so far at a quick glance
the log file generation seems to have dropped by about 30%.
Question: What would be the best counters to review in order to "Put it all together"? Also note: our Server roles are split, MBX and CAS/HT.

  • What happened to the Exchange?

I looked at the exchgange today and it no longer exists - at least for users prior to CS6. The link to the old exchange, which, according to the help files should be at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/ does not exist. In addition to dropping support for all previous versions of the Creative Suite, has Adobe killed the exchange? Or have I got it wrong?
How can they drop the support for programs costing upwards of £1500?
    Howard Walker

    Hi Groovy,
Initially I clicked on the link in my Fireworks under help. This took me to a page that only handled people with CS6 or Creative Cloud and it still does - see  <http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/> http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/ .
Now when I click on my exchange link in Fireworks, it takes me to the Classic page as it always did in the past, only it was not called the Classic page last time I looked at it. The page that I viewed had lots of errors on it, and maybe it was one in the process of being updated.  So those of us still using earlier versions than CS6 may still be able to download from the Classic exchange. Better get downloading - they may not be there for long!

  • Can a gateway server alert me that the management servers are unavailable?

I have an environment spread across four countries. In the main country is my MS cluster and the Operations and OperationsDW Dbs. This works great. Until something happens to the Operations and OperationsDW Dbs which also kills our exchange server in the
    main country.
Can a gateway server tell me that this is happening so I know to resolve?

Email alerts arr handled by the RMS server. The client are acting based on the MP which is downloaded to the local server and the agent will pass on the ginfo to the gateway server and it will in turn send to MS and RMS. If RMS is. It available, the information
or trigger will be queued at the gateway until rms is available

  • Infinity upgrade at exchange appears to have kille...

    Hi all,
I know there are plenty of threads about slow connection speeds and I was rather reluctant to start another, but having previously spent the best part of an afternoon on the phone purely to get an email password reset, I thought I would try for some help here before braving the call centres again!
Anyway, as the title  suggests, at the end of January I received an email telling me that my local exchange (Dartford, Kent) was being upgraded to this "infinity" malarkey, there may be a window of a few minutes where my connection went down and that I would need to leave my hub on and let it settle down for a week or so once the upgrade was complete. "No problem" thought I, "whilst I'm quite happy with my option 3 package, it's good to know I can probably upgrade if I want to in the future." Plus, the email seemed to suggest that even if I didn't upgrade I still might see an increase in speed.
You might appreciate that I am rather peeved therefore to see that since the upgrade was completed in mid February, my downstream connection has dropped from a perfectly adequate 7/8,000kbps to a pretty much useless and rather flakey 3,000kbps.
Now I know there are people who have far worse connections than this, but when I have been paying a premium BT price for a nice, stable and reasonably fast connection for the last four years I'm not overly impressed with the idea of continuing to pay that premium price for a connection that can no longer even reliably stream a programme from Iplayer, let alone cope with that radical 21st century idea of two users trying to access the Internet at the same time!
I should stress that there have been no changes whatsoever to the setup at my end. The router is connected to the master socket in exactly the same way as it has been for the last four years. That said, if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can convince BT's software that my line is still capable of handling the throughput it has managed quite happily for the last four years, I will be happy to try them. Curiously, a friend who lives nearby had a similar problem which was miraculously solved once he agreed to sign up for a new contract. I won't be putting on the tinfoil hat just yet, but the thought does occur...
If anyone can offer some thoughts, suggestions etc... On what I might do to return my connection to what it was previously, I would be tremendously grateful.
    Thanks

    Hi Geoff,
I could have sworn the email mentioned the exchange being upgraded to infinity but I have long since deleted the relevant email and from what you have said, and some further research on the Internet, I am coming round to the conclusion that I was mistaken and that it was actually an upgrade to ADSL2. Either way it has still put the mockers on my connection speed!
I've tried the quiet line test and all seemed pretty **bleep** quiet to me ( I couldn't hear a thing and neither could my better half), unfortunately the BT speedtest refuses to work and simply tells me that it is unable to perform a test. I've tried it a number of times since you first suggested it last night.
There's nothing obvious to suggest the problem is at my end. I've tried swapping filters, checking there were no loose connections etc, but all seems to be pretty much as it was before the problem started. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and brave the help desk. I guess I should book a days leave from work to make the call...
One final question if I may? I have been toying with the idea of switching providers recently. I'd rather stay with BT because, as I said previously, whilst they are expensive, I value the good service I have generally received to date over saving a few beer tokens each month, but if I am given the run around, as I seems to be the norm when I contact tech support, I may just bite the bullet and go. If this does turn out to be a problem at the exchange am I likely to see the same problem even when switching provider?
Thanks to all that have taken the time to comment and offer assistance, it is genuinely appreciated.

  • 10.6.5 update killed Exchange Mail account access

Directly after applying v10.6.5 (incremental update first, then combo update after this problem was discovered) update to my v10.6.4 Mac Mini, I completely lost connection of Exchange email in both Mail (v4.4) and Outlook 2011 (v14.0.1).
I tried making new mail accounts = no joy
I tried making a whole new user and new mail accounts for Outlook and Mail = no joy.
The irony is, the very first item mentioned in the 10.6.5 fixes list (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1325) is "Improves reliability with Microsoft Exchange servers"
I'm not updating any more machines until this gets figured out.
Help help help! I cant access work email! What did apple do to exchange access??

I have just applied 10.6.5 to my Macbook through software update. I loaded up all my email programs, and each one could connect and send mail. As well as, receive it.
I am using Mail 4.4, Entourage Web Services 13.0.4, and Outlook 2011 (I haven't run the update patch yet) connected to an Exchange 2010 box.
As stated above, it may be a 2007 pre SP1 issue possibly. As Exchange 2010 works fine for me.
Check with your various IT people with regards to what version you are running, and make sure it's up to date.
NB: No I don't work for Apple

  • OS upgrade kills Exchange email sync and flattens battery

I did the upgrade to 10.0.10.90 on Saturday. Since then my Exchange email account stopped working, the device often feels warm, and the battery goes flat in a few hours (even without use).
I saw another problem KB33828 wonder if this is related. Vodafone can't/won't help.
Everything else still working, including 2 other non-Exchange email accounts.

    Hey peter_r_miles,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
That KB article would be related if your email account gets re-added every few minutes.  Since this is a new issue we will need to gather logs to find the root cause.  Please contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry.
    Thank you.

  • HT1277 10.8.5 update killed Exchange Mail account

I updated my OSX to 10.8.5 and my Exchange mail account in Mail.app immediately quit working.  Any suggestions?

I am also having problems since the 10.8.5 upgrade. For whatever its worth, I am only having problems with Apple Mail. Unfortunately, the problems with Apple Mail led me to set up Outlook on my Mac and that works fine. Mail also works on my iOS devices. Only on my MacBook and only since the moment I upgraded to 10.8.5.

  • Mail For Exchange - Compatability/Downloads menu i...

    Using N79
    SW 31.002.205.4.
Up until this morning running MfE 2.9.158. Just been offerred 2.9.160 via App.Update. Post install check indicates this has been available for months - why the delay in pushing it through to App.Update?
MfE 2.9.160 still not fixed old issue of being unable to open MfE settings following phone restart - why not? - threads dating back to 1st quarter 2009! but this one explains the issue precisely:
    /t5/Messaging-Email-and-Browsing/Mail-for-Exchange-corrupted/m-p/603626/highlight/true#M21922
It's the only app on my phone that cannot be routinely opened - not good.
Notwithstanding this idiosyncrasy email syncing is more hit than miss but  falls way short of my iPod touch which is 100% rock solid regarding Exchange compatability. Does Nokia want Exchange Server based customers- my guess is not enough. Generally speaking if I notice emails hitting my iPod but not my N79 it's time for a  phone restart.  But that  kills the ability to open MfE settings So it's back to a re-install.
    If the above isn't bad enough Nokia has just made it worse.  This "current" link from the N79 support page is dead;
    http://businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_for_exchange_downloads.php
and after much dead-ending find that the Ovi Store now contains MfE - no problem with that it makes sense to consolidate. But no mention of N79 being supported by the latest greatest MfE and Ovi only lists 3.0 as supporting FP1 phones - so wht about FP2?
Is my N series phone supported anymore - I've got no idea.
Wake up Nokia it's 2010 not 1990 - we shouldn't have to put  up with this **bleep** in basic functionality.
Judging by lack of action over the past 12 months have no hope Nokia will put this right but that my dear Nokia is how you lose customers to your rivals Apple and RIM. Pull your finger out.

I'm hoping this fix works for me long term and post as is.
Multiple phone calls to Nokia Tier 1 and 2 phone support heavily supplemented by some determined Google searching led me to the following solution.
First off the bad news. To fix the MfE issue requires a hard reset of the device. There's no way around this so resign yourself to it early.
The good news however is you can dramatically reduce the time needed to return your device back to its pre-reset condition by backing up your device using Ovi Suite. Forget to do this and you'll be re-installing your apps one at a time.
My issue was made more difficult because the usual hard re-set code (*#7370 #) would not reset the device i.e. full recovery of phone memory, complete wiping of contacts etc. Ignoring Nokia's advice to return the phone for repair! I turned up an alternative method which achieved the hard re-set I was seeking.
    As follows:
Hold these three keys down - *, 3 and green accept call - whie the phone is off, then power on keeping them depressed until the Nokia logo plays.
On the N79 this involves an usual amount of manual dexterity but nevertheless worked where the re-set code failed. Hopefully this won't be necessary for most users.
Once re-set you will be presented with the Set up menu as per a new phone.
With a fully recovered phone memory you can now restore your earlier backup via Ovi Suite, which for me did 90% of the work needed to get my phone back to its earlier personalised condition. I took the opportunity of checking for any programme updates of essential apps and updated as necessary. Re-installation of Speed Dial settings and permitted Bluetooth devices amongst other items was required but all in all all my data and file structure was faithfully restored first time around.
I am now running MfE 3.0 (actually 2.09.208 - see initial thread posting ) which Nokia support advise is not supported  for the N79 -  given the varying level of advice received I'm prepared to run with my own view that it works fine. If you wish to play safe you should be running 2.9.160.
I have re-booted the phone multiples times over the last two days and on only one occasion (which I'm going to pretend never happened) MfE has been rock solid. In addition Ovi Maps which had stopped opening - and was fundamentally what set me off down the road of a hard re-set - is now working perfectly.
I'm hoping this cures the irritating MfE problem long term pending Nokia sorting out whether they even support the N79 any longer as far as MfE is concerned.
As a sign off I will just say for my purposes the N79 is the best smartphone I've ever owned and supplemented with an iPod Touch is a fantastic work/play combination. If you are allowed tethering on your contract I contend Walking Hot Spot is THE killer app and so confident am I of my choice of phone I've just bought a second N79, at a much reduced price, which I'm going to use as a backup/extension to my existing N79 when it dies and goes to heaven.
Hope this post saves someone else some timeand effort.

  • I am having much trouble with the new reminders in IOS7 and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange. Many features lost in the new version.

When I downloaded IOS7, I found that the reminders/task app and how it interacts with Outlook Exchange is much more difficult to use. Some of the issues that I am having are...
    1. Trying to edit my task on my phone is not possible, if the notes are lengthy. When you click on the text to edit data near the top, it will scroll to the bottom and not allow you to edit the text because you cant see it.
    2. Now all of my task are in one long list. I can not move from day to day like we could in previous version IOS6
    3. When I do edit a short task reminder and click done, it crashes and completly goes away. It does save the edit though
    4. You can only add task at the bottom of each days reminders. This is very inconvient and much more difficult than IOS6
    5. There is a major delay or latency when interacting inside of reminders in this version. Much more than IOS6. It is very unstable and quirky.
I have never seen Apple take a step back with a product until now. I am a huge Apple fan and always will be, so I am hoping they make enhancements to fix these issue. It is a big time prodcutivity killer.
Thanks for any and all help you can give.
    Troy Meachum

Some power supplies or designed so that if there is a short or overload they shut them selfs off and some will not turn back on. Some have a relay that will click back on and work, some you have to  cycle the power switch. Those that won't come back on will have to be replaced. I'm not saying that yours is that type as I have no way of telling. But if you have a friend who will loan you a good power supply you might try it. As someone else said just turning off the power will not darn all the power from some motherboards. To test this turn off your power supply than turn on the computer with the start botton. Mine will flash the lights and fans will start to spin than die. So every time you turn off computer to work on it. After turning off PSU hit the start botton to drian any power left in it before working on it. Also do this after unplugging it just to make sure.

  • How do I keep my emails in Apple mail after they have been downloaded from exchange server

    Hi
I have an urgent issue with my work email. I have used Apple Mail to read and store my work email right off my work Exchange server - without any problem.
All was fine, and for what seems a very long time, I happily used both my win 7 laptop at work and my 2 Apple computers at home and during travel as well as my iPhone - anywhere.
However, now, there is a new policy at work where all email older than 3 months (sigh!!) has been removed to an "online archive" of the "emc SourceOne" - which is a non-crossplattform service - and not accessible from other than a windows PC with supported browser (not including SafarI). (Windows revenge) I have lost all access to these on my iPhone, which is a shame - not Apples fault, though. This is  not about blaming Apple.
However, I still have all my "older than 3 months" email in theory safely kept on both of my Apple computers - presumably safely stored in Apple Mail.
Here is my question: I have not dared to connect either of these imacs / mbas to Internet - at all - in fear of losing my precoius work emails. I have feared that the exchange server will kill all these "older than 3 months" email kept there - as soon as it gets a chance to do so.
So I urgently need an educated advise. Googling any kind of "apple" questions seems to be far less productive now than a few years ago...
    1. Can I safely connect Apple Mail to internet without losing my already downloaded exchange emails?
    2. If not - how should I proeceed to get these files safely transferred to my iCloud email?
Any and all help will be deeply appreciated!
Best regards, from a chilly evening in Oslo, Norway
    Vidar

When you connect your Mac back up to the Exchange server, it will “sync” what is on the server to your Mac, losing all those older emails. Don’t reconnect until you have moved them.
To move them, Drag them from the Exchange folders on Mail and into an iCloud folder. The emails will then be stored on iCloud instead of on the exchange server.
You could also just create mailboxes on your Mac and drag them into that. They wouldn’t be accessible to other devices, but you’d have them on your Mac.
To create new Mailboxes, Click the Add ( + ) button at the bottom of the Mailbox list and choose New Mailbox…
You can choose where that folder is stored, either under On My Mac for a local mailbox, or in your iCloud account which will make a folder on the iCloud server.
In the future, you need to start moving your emails to those independent mailboxes as you file them, and set up a rule that will move anything older than 50 days into a “catch-all” Mailbox you create on that same location (either On My Mac or iCloud). Mail Preferences, Rules.

  • Do anyone know how to stop reminders in iCal with ms exchange under iOS6 beta?

Since I've started testing iOS 6 beta, I can't kill the reminders in exchange calendar....after restart the calendar app, they are there, again...
Nothing to see in the mac cal app or in the owa! No reminders, especially on iPhone 4 and iPad 3, running with the iOS 6 beta...ok...it's beta 1...is there anyone else with this problem?

The newest Version 5.0.1 (1547.4) of iCal, for Mac OSX Lion (Version 10.7.2), has the Sort Manually option for Reminders. As stated in the preceding reply, however, this option is not available in the iCloud Calendar. Therein lies the problem, apparently.
Yesterday, I was on the phone with Apple Support for an nearly two hours, trying to get to the bottom of this issue. Not knowing the answer, the first person I talked to referred me to someone in the iApps department. The person in the iApps department could not resolve the problem either. So, I was referred to a senior technician in that department. After a lengthy diagnosis, this person confirmed that this is a system-wide problem in which the function is missing. The case was forwarded to the engineers, and I will be notified when they have a response.
Once, I get the response, I will update this discussion thread.

  • No new mail notification in Outlook - CAS Exchange RPC Client Access problem

    Hi, we're facing this problem:
Users start complaining they suddenly don’t receive new mail notifications in Outlook (2010/2013)  anymore
Inbox does not show the new mail either
When the user changes folders in outlook, the new mail does show in the Inbox folder
Restarting Outlook shows the new mail as well.
The same new e-mail arrives instantly (with notifications) in Owa and on mobile devices
Sometimes the new mail notification pops up after a longer period of time (from 30 seconds to 10 minutes). But more often not at all.
This issue seems to occur at random. We’ve been problem free for a week, and sometimes it comes back three times a day.
Clients running Outlook 2010, 2013 cached or online, on site and off site. So it seems server related, not client.
It was seen first around January 8th. We did not make any changes around that time that we can link to this problem.
Only one CAS server (EXCH1-RTD) shows this issue. CAS servers on other sites are ok
EXCH1-RTD has CAS and HUB transport roles. The same site has two mailbox only servers. EXCH2-RTD (mailbox server for normal mailboxes). And EXCH3-RTD (mailbox server for archive mailboxes)
No entries in the event logs that seems to be related
As the problem only occurs with Outlook clients, I suspected RPC issues. We cannot gracefully stop the “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access” service on EXCH1-RTD  while the issue occurs. We
can only kill the process and restart the service, solving the issue instantly.
    What we’ve tried until now:
Updated all Exchange servers from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 to RU8-v2 (server OS=W2K8R2)
Updated all Exchange servers  to latest critical Windows updates
Recalculated requirements using MS Sizing tool.  Upgraded EXCH1-RTD  VM from 8GB and 2 vCPU (1 core/cpu) to 16GB
    and 4vCPU (1 core/cpu)
Ran various perfmon counters and compared them with other Exchange servers, not finding any obvious anomalies.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Ron

    Hi Ron,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, you can create a new profile to check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise - BSOD after DAG creation

    Hi,
We are running Exchange 2007 SP3 RU13 on Windows 2003 R2 with SP2 in a 2003 native AD environment and recently decided to upgrade to Exchange 2013. We installed a pair of new DELL R420 servers running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise then threw Exchange 2013 SP1
onto them. This all went fine and the servers are running stable.
We connected the second NIC of each server to the other via a separate switch, the second NIC has Client for MS Networks and File/Printer Sharing disabled plus a totally separate subnet with no DNS or GW address assigned. DAG setup was run and completed
OK. I created the DAG network in Exchange and enabled replication, I also left replication enabled across the production LAN. Finally, I went into the advanced network settings and made sure the replication network was below the production network in the binding
    order.
After an hour or two the BSOD's started.. both servers would crash within a few minutes of each other and reboot with a Kernel Panic. I have attached the contents of the dump file below. This seems to happen every few hours and it always seems to be the
server hosting the passive DB copies crashes first, followed by the server hosting the active copies. Note that if we disable the replication NIC on both servers they do not crash.
I got the impression from somewhere that perhaps the servers had mixed up the binding order and were trying to use the replication network as primary, losing access to AD and rebooting (which I have read is the behaviour for Exchange now). It appears the
Exchange Health service has killed WININIT which causes the crash.
    Thanks!!!
The crash dump text is below:

    Hi Darrkon,
I suggest checking the status of the HealthMailbox on each of servers.
Also try to re-create the mailbox. You can safely delete and recreate health mailboxes.
Be aware that any local Managed Availability probes that are using the these mailboxes will fail until the Microsoft Exchange Health Manager is restarted.  Once that service is restarted, it will recreate any mailboxes that it needs.
More details in the following similar thread, just for your reference:

  • Push email (MS exchange) works intermittently after upgrade to ios 5.1 and ios 5.1.1

I have an iphone 4 with my office email (MS exchange) account configured. Other accounts are Gmail & iCloud.
Office email is configured as Push, Gmail as Fetch and iCloud as Push.
Till ios 5.0.x everything was fine. Office emails were getting pushed and there were no issues.
However after upgrading/restore to ios 5.1 & then 5.1.1 push email mostly does not work.
    Few observations :
    1. Push email works fine when I am at home on wi-fi.
    2. When I leave home for work (therefore on 3G), mails stop getting pushed. Sometimes they get pushed for a period of 1 to 2 hours. Then they stop
    3. Manually fetching office mails also does not work
    4. Strangle accessing the office webmail site in Safari https://mail.xxxxx.com does NOT work. While i can load other sites in safari, the mail site does not load.
    5. In office sometimes in the lift phone switches from 3G to Edge or no signal and then when out of the lift, suddenly mails get pushed, but then stop after some time.
    6. Moment I get onto wi-fi, push emails start working
    7. There is no issue with accessing gmail.
    8. Other push notifications work (gmail app, facebook notifications etc)
    9. There have been no changes to our MS exchange server
    10. I have tried the usual stuff of resetting network settings, rebooting the phone, killing the mail app, going to airplane mode, deleting the mail a/c and recreating etc etc. But no luck.
Apart from upgrading/restoring to 5.1 and then 5.1.1, there have been no changes. The upgrades were done OTA, restore from 5.1.1.
However both times I have not set the phone as new and have restored backups.
Is anybody facing a similar issue ?
    Any suggestions ?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
