2.3 Update: Problem with AppleTV learning third-party remote

Hello,
I'm trying to set up my third party remote (DirecTV HR21) after updating to 2.3. It all starts well; I go to Settings -> General -> Remotes -> Learn Remote, but I am having an issue when I am making my Apple TV learn the second key (down arrow); I get the error message "apple tv has already learned this button". It's as if the Apple TV thinks the 'up arrow' and the 'down arrow' on my remote are the same key. I tried several times, to no avail.
Anyone else having this issue?

I'm experiencing the same problem with the current DirecTV remote not being able to learn more than the first button prompted to enter (arrow-down). The error message "appletv has already learned this button" appears when attempting to enter the second button prompted (arrow-up). Furthermore, I have attempted configuration on two separate DirecTV HR21 remotes in both AV1 and AV2 modes.
Come on Apple -- don't tease us! Testing wasn't done to make sure AppleTV can learn to respond to a current DirecTV remote? Yikes. I wonder what 3rd-party remotes were tested and confirmed to work.

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-52 receiver and have performed the learn remote function on my AppleTV 3rd gen. The problem is when I use it, the AppleTV registers two presses instead of one. I thought perhaps I was holding the buttons down too long when learning, so I've repeated the process holding the buttons down just long enought to fill the progress bar. Same problem. I had the same issue with my Pioneer VSK-1021. I would recommend teaching the Pioneer remote how to control the apple tv rather than teaching the apple tv to understand the remote. That worked for me.
I don't know if the codes are the same between Pioneer receivers/remotes, but code 2058 worked for me. Consult your Pioneer manual to find out how to teach your remote, but for me it was:
1. Hold down RCU Setup and the number 1 for three seconds until the remote LED starts flashing.
2. Select the source button on the remote (whichever corresponds to what input your apple tv is connected to on your receiver). For me, this was the HDMI button.
3. Enter the code 2058. The led should do one relatively long pulse, then resume flashing.
4. Hit RCU Setup again to end programming.
The manual says you can confirm it took by hitting the Source Power button on the remote, but I don't think the apple tv actually accepts remote shut down? At least the apple tv remote itself can't even do that. It didn't work for me anyway. However, after I exited programming mode, the Pioneer remote was able to control the apple tv. Woohoo!
It's not clear what corresponds to what, so you kinda have to press around. The arrow keys, play pause, skip etc, all match up. But the Select and Menu keys corresponded to Video Parameter and Return on my remote I think.
Hope that helps! If all else fails, you can also teach your remote to manually mimic the apple remote, but I didn't try that since the code worked.

Problem with creating a third party signed x509 certificate

I'm working on pki project, in which i need to generate a key pair and and using it to create a self-signed x509 certificate, it will act as the CA and using it private key to sign all other x509 certificate, I have no problem on creating the self-signed cert, but when try to create other cert using CA private, I got the following exception
Caught exception: java.security.InvalidKeyException: Public key presented not for certificate signature
I'm using bouncycastle to do the cert generation, here is an example of my code

your problem is you'er not using the ca public key to do the verification, replace the
cert.verify(pubkey);
to
cert.verify(capubkey);
and it should be work

Wait for 10 minutes for it to restart, then switch stations again. I've tested my download speed when it happens it's fine.

I've tried to modify the example of "multiple geometric patterns matching" , and just use two patterns, but when I run the VI this error appear and I doon't know how to solve it! , the error appears in the "IMAQ Learn multiple geometric patterns" block.
Running on:
- labview 32 bits
- windows 7 64 bits
- usb camera 2.0
Any sugestion would be helpful..... ! Regards

thanks all for your replies, the problem was on my template images, I had to give them information about the pattern matching, and I did it with NI Vision Template Editor, within Vision utilities, and I chose template with Feature Based.

New update adds third-party remote support. I could use mine already!

I am a little confused.
Appletell states-
"The update also allows users to use third party remotes with their Apple TV, which has been a long standing request from many users"
This is saying, to me, that you can use a third-party remote to control TV functions.
If that's the case, I have been doing that ever since I got it, using my universal remote for all my tv-connected devices including my TV (I got it to learn the Apple remotes signals). Could someone please elaborate on this?

It's not really for universal remotes - which normally come with a database of codes to use with a wide variety of devices. It's for the remotes that can normally control another device - for example:
My Samsung TV remote has the ability to control a Samsung DVD player. Although i haven't got the DVD player, the buttons are on the remote anyway (Play, Pause, Fast Forward, etc).
I can now map those buttons the the ATV - in fact i gave it a go and it worked fine. However, i've put that back in the cupboard as i have a universal remote like you thats been doing it for ages.

We are looking for a site to site model. I want all the devices on the remote network to be on their own subnet. We need to be able to hit individual remote devices from the head end. The devices at the remote site in turn also need to be able to communicate with each other without having to use the VPN.

Third party remote won't turn off Apple TV

Hello,
I've set up a third party remote (Yamaha HTR-5740) and everything works great except I can't turn off Apple TV with the third party remote. I have to use the Apple TV remote. I can turn it on with the third party remote by pushing play, but not off. I can hold down play, pause, and stop, and nothing. Even tried holding down play and pause together. Any suggestions? Video problem with appletv

I just purchased appletv and it works fine except when using the new app itunes live (itunes festival london). When I try to play a concert from this app from my iphone to appletv I only get audio, no video on my big screen. I get video to play just fine on the appletv from youtube and the videos that are on my iphone. It seems like there is some issue with this itunes live app. Everything I have is updated to the current version (appletv, imac computer, iphone). Airplay seems to work just fine with everything but this app. Anyone else having a similar problem?

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately that did not fix the problem for me. My appletv and iphone software are all up to date and I still am getting only audio on the itune festival london app. When I press the airplay button on the app once the video has started it gives me a choice of appletv or iphone and both have speaker icons next to them instead of tv icons. That seems weird since in all other videos it shows the tv icon rather than the speaker icon. When the music starts playing on the tv a musical note icon shows up on the tv saying unknown artist. I will call apple care tomorrow and see if they can figure it out. It really shouldn't be a problem since the app is designed by apple not a third party company.

I believe (hope) you're saying that you can not update SQL Developer to the latest release via "Check for Updates".
My problem is that I get this error when running "Check for Updates" on a third party extension and not Oracle updates.
I did a fresh install and ran the update and it will always give me the error. It's easily reproducible. Although, the second restart will fix the problem I'm concerned that this will give the impression that the extension caused the problem.

Update problems with itunes 10.6.1 on xp

When I try to update to iTunes 10.6.1 n Windows XP sp3 I get the dialog box to repair or remove. If I select repair the update fails. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

It seems like Apple writes new software that makes older computers not work as well.

OS update problem with BB Torch 9810

Hi there
I've got a problem with my BB device. It is Torch 9810 and recently a software patch has been applied ( version 7.0.0 bundle 1465 to bundle 2406 ). After the upgrade though BB device doesn't work properly, its screen freezes, some applications ( GPS in particular ) does not work, virtual keyboard sensitivity is poor etc. Hence I need to roll back to the previous version of software however rollback option on device is disabled. I can't roll back to the previous version using desktop software either.
Please advice how to resolve the issue or provide me with a link where I can find previous OS version i.e. 7.0.0 bundle 1465.

Since LION update problem with iphone syncronisation

Since the LION update on our macbook we have problems with the iphone syncronisation, reset the iphone has not solve the problem - what ist the mistake?

What worked for me was not on the Apple troubleshooting list. I tried the whole list.
First, I reset the phone. (Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.)
Second, I restored the phone.
I could not restore the phone until I reset it.

Hi! I'm having some problems with my new appletv. I have some movies who freezes the image when I was watching it. Always stop the image on the same frame but when I check it on my imac with itunes I can see it without problems. Someone knows where is the problem?

Hi, thanks for your reply. It happens in a boxing combat fight and in a Dexter episode. I convert it to .m4v (appletv format) and I can see it perfect in itunes on my imac but on my appletv it freezes always in the same frame. I copy the movie to itunes and after I sync and copy it to my appletv. Is weird cause I saw the Dexter episode 1 and 3 but the 2 freezes on 20min.
