2 Char value for ' ' or DUMMY

Hi everyone, I have the following issue.
I'm filling the fields of organization levels, and i ran to a specific field that is 2 characters defined. For that org. level I need to set a value of ' ' (single quote, space, single quote), but the problem is that I can only input up to 2 characters, which will only get '  (single quote, space)
Is there any way to find a one char or two char value that does the same job? Or is there any way to bypass the 2 char input limitation?
Thanks in advance.
I'll appreciate any help you could give me.

As others indicated, this is a program error and happens quite often when the program is incorrectly developed. The program performs a check on say the plant but due to the program logic and the scenario, a blank plant values is passed for the check. in this case the AUTHORITY-CHECK code should have a validation check on if the plant value is blank or an actual value.
If the value is blank, it should trigger either a bypass of checking for the authorisation or better a check on DUMMY, this is a standard value in SAP which means any value will pass. so in the later, it can still check for the activity portion of the authorisation and pass the plant.
Sometimes security are forced to maintain a blank value such a space, this is very bad as it can cause data errors as the program will save the blank value to the table where it is intended to have a value.
hope this help,
John.

  • Function Module to extract char values for a matl variant

    Experts,
Looking for a Function Module with which I can extract the Char value for a specific characteristic on my material variant. So, the class type is 300 & I would like to pass this material (variant) as an input in order to retrieve the value for the specific characteristic (which will be unique to this variant)
    Any one, an idea?
    thanks

Ok, I found what I needed. For everyone's benefit, herez what I found:
    1. every application/object in the SAP side which uses the configuration has a unique Internal Object #. For material variants, Sales Documents, Prodn Ord headers & components, so on so forth.
    2. In the system the fields CUOBF, CUOBJ carry these Internal Obj #'s. For the sake of getting the material variant char & values I found the func module VC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION, where the input could be the Int Obj # from the MARA or the one from VBAP, based on the need.
    Thanks

  • Confirm the char value for in UTF8

    Hi Team,
we are facing an issue with one of the special characters in Oracle Database:
    1. We have description with ® in description
    2. We have the database charset as UTF8
    3. The setting for the application is Unicode
    4. When we query the item on the Application, SQL Developer, the description shows fine
    5. When we run the query connecting to the UNIX server with the charset UTF8, the description shows fine.
    6. When we run the query connecting to the UNIX Server with the charset ISO-8859-1:1998 (Latin-1, West Europe), the description shows ® instead of ®.
    7. The character value in the database shows as 49838.
    8. When we check for the query SELECT CHR (49838) FROM DUAL in SQL developer, the output shows as ®
    9. When we check for the query SELECT CHR (49838) FROM DUAL with the UTF8 as charset then the output shows as ®
    10. When we check for the query SELECT CHR (49838) FROM DUAL with the ISO-8859-1:1998 (Latin-1, West Europe) as charset then the output shows as ®
    11. We have also tried copying the character ® from charmap and using it in the description and even then it shows as ® when connected to UNIX using the charset ISO-8859-1:1998 (Latin-1, West Europe)
Can anyone confirm the char value for ® in UTF8.
    Thanks

    http://www.utf8-zeichentabelle.de
    http://www.williamrobertson.net/documents/ascii.html
194 when interpreted on its own is the  character, and 174 is ®. The application needs to know it's a 2-byte UTF-8 character.
49838 is C2A2 in hex, which looks correct for the CHR function in a UTF-8 database.

  • How to avoid client opening for maintainig char value for POreleasestrategy

    Hello Experts
I have configured Purchase Order release strategy in our development client. I have released all transport requests for PO release in our quality client. But after releasing transport requests , value in characteristics like PO value was not copied in quality client.
To achieve my purpose I have opened by our client by scc4 transaction code & once again maintained values in characteristics.
*Is there any method to update characteristics values in release strategy without opening client?*

Using CL20n, the complete assignment of characteristic values per release stratrgies can be defined. There will be no need to open the client at all.

    Dear Expert,
I am getting this message no. CL500 (Status changed: missing values for required chars) when I try to save variant class (Class type 300) assignment to material master (Raw Material) with Released 1 status in CL20N; but I do not get this message during assignment for FERT. • ABAP Query - Table for Batch, Char values & desc.

    Hi Gurus,
Looking for a Table join for requirement to fetch Characteristic description, char values & Batch no  in ABAP query.
    Thanks.

    dear,
it depends on which table you selected first (Table join using basis table) and how do you insert next tables.
i am talking about the info-set creation step.
    let's do a simple query.
run SQ02. type new infoset name and hit Create.
type name and type MARA for "Table join using basis table" radio button. Hit Continue.
now insert (add) tables: MARC, MCHA, CABN, CAWN
think about Inner Join or Left Outer Join !!'
say, if you need to display all materials (even if not exist on plant) set Left Outer Join. if you're after materials existing on plant keep default Inner Join.
friend, my example above is only the example.
make sure you undertsand how to build a sap query in general.
never set many tables at once. insert 2-3 tables, return to your query (SQ01) or create it, adjust it and test. step by step - table by table. add the new table in infoset, add the fields, generate it and come back to your query. adjust it and test.
    good luck!

    Gurus
I need your help , I have searched all the threads but could not find anything which can help me resolve this issue.
I have a filter in DTP as a routine to get the year from system date.
The program is correct for syntex but when I trigger the DTP I am getting the following message , not sure what needs to be added to my programe.
Incorrect initial value for characteristic 0FISCYEAR in i_t_range
    Message no. DBMAN889
appreciate any help I can get to reoslve this ASAP.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
Pleae check if you have initialised with a NULL value . "blank/null" is indeed not a valid characteristic value for fiscal period. Fisc.per is of type NUMC which means all characters have to be numerical. The initial value should be "0000000" .

  • Variant Config - Changing char value on Prod Order component

    Experts,
We have a situation where we need to manually add Material Variants as components on a given Production Order's component list. This is in cases where stock for the material variant is available & can be used.
We use ECC 6.0 with certain features of DIMP (SDUD) turned on for Mill Products (along with Variant Config). After adding the Material Variant on the Production Order, we want to edit/change/add characteristic values to the Class 300 characteristics. I've tested this & while it is possible for a configurable material, system does not allow to change char values on the material variant.
Does anyone know of a way to enhance the system in order to achieve this?
    Thanks

    Just a thought.
let's assume the characteristic you want is called CHAR.
Then create a dummy characteristic called DUMMY. Create values 'ASSIGNED' and 'BLANK' for DUMMY.
Create a dependency for the values of DUMMY
    for 'ASSIGNED':
    CHAR SPECIFIED
    for 'BLANK':
    NOT SPECIFIED CHAR
Then go back in each value of characteristic CHAR and create another dependency as follows:
    DUMMY eq 'ASSIGNED'
that way the system should only display those values of CHAR for which DUMMY has a value...
It's a bit of a circular thought I know... Not implemented anything like it myself but it just might work

  • While Creation Of SaleOrder Char Values are not getting saved.(V C)

    Hi SAP gurus,
One of my client can able to create a saleorder but when we go and see in VA03 Display mode,we found Charactrestic values getting miised out. What could be the probale reasons.
Note: I Have stimulate the required combination as per my client requirement in CU50,here i can able to indentify the Green Sign, but While Creation Of SaleOrder Char Values are not getting saved.
    Awaiting for your valuable reply.
    Cheers,
    Kumar.S

    Kumar ,
If you assign values in classification view or configuration profile  they will become default for the product, and it willnot be changed in sales order.
another thing if the item category is incorrect you will not get the configuration pop up at all .
problem what i understand from your thred is at the time of sales ordeer creation there is some inconsistances in the configuration , may be some condition is not fullfilling.
If in CU50 the result shown are error free, same configuration should owrk properly in sales configuration process, please again try to create it in sales order with same value assignment also check all the messages.
see the result of configuration before saving the sales order , i hoep it will work for you.
I am assuming all the things from SD are properly configured ie item catageory, varient pricing etc.
    Check and revert back.
    Regards
    Ritesh

  • Cannot determine a value for an exit variable in the Formula fn w/p empty

    Hi All,
We have an exit variable Z_EX_AR_VAR, the would read a hierarchy node input variable (Z_HN_AREA), which is furthur based on a hierarchy input variable (Z_HR_AREA), and wouuld return the first leaf of it.
We have implemented a input ready query based on this exit variable and it is getting the first node and is input ready and saves the data to the database.
It works well in the query when we have filtered the characteristic with the hier and hier node and the exit variables.
We need to use the same value to be used in the Fox function.
As per the requirement, the Fox function has to process the zero (empty) records.
So, we have customized formula function to process emptry records.
And in the function of type formula function that processes empty records, we have used the following statement.
    DATA AR type ZAREA.
    AR = VARI ( Z_HN_AREA, HIENM=Z_HR_AREA, 1).
We are getting the following error message:
Cannot determine a value for the variable Z_HN_AREA.
    Planning function ended with errors.
What is that we are doing wrong here. Is it with the 'Process Empty Records' function that cannot read the variable.
How come this variable is working in the query and it is not working in the FOX.
We have done the variable to variable binding in the WAD also. Still the same problem.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    - Shashi
    Thanks in '

    Hi All,
Michael Wolf from SAP confirmed that we cannot use VARiable read functions in the customized Formula function that processes the zero (empty records) as he spoke to SAP AG about the issue.
Hence we have made a work around by creating a valid record using a dummy key figure in the Custom Formula function that processes empty records so that in the next step, the regular Formula function would get executed, where we could access the variable values by using VARV, VARI functions.
    Thanks,
    - Shashi

    Hi,
Try declaring the Hex chars using the ABAP char utilities. This is just a sample piece of code on how to declare and use:
    CLASS cl_abap_char_utilities DEFINITION LOAD.
    DATA:  ws_lf TYPE c VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
data:    c_newline           TYPE x VALUE '0D'.  [ it is zero D, for carriage return ]
    ws_lf = c_newline.
        CONCATENATE it_tab-maktx
                    ws_lf
                    ws_template
                    INTO it_notificatn-template.
    Hope this helps...
