2 Copies of Movie?

I just created one of my first short films and want to post it onto my Web Gallery on .Mac. The way I understand it, the only way to do this (aside from pulling the movie into iPhoto and publishing) is to go through iMovie.
So, even though the movie is completely done, I still have to 'import the movie' (which btw-took FOREVER to build the thumbnails), create a project, then drag the footage down into the timeline, and FINALLY be able to click on the 'Share>.Mac Web Gallery' in the file menu to post it to my Web Gallery.
Fine. I can handle all that. But my question is this: Now that I'm digging thru the files under my user folder, iMovie has created the movie TWICE under 2 different folders. My movie is about 92 MBs so this concerns me a bit.
Here's the path and the way the files are arranged:
Mac HD/Users/Username/Movies/iMovie Events/Short Film/
Then it has all the files:

As you can see - it copied the movie into the directory TWICE. Why is this?

The second copy, in iMovie Thumbnails, is a re-rendered version of your movie, optimized for quick display in iMovie. It is used for all the realtime effects in iMovie, like the instant display of the current frame as you mouse over the filmstrip. If you original movie is highly compressed, or has a small resolution, then the thumbnail version of the movie can indeed be relatively large. I have some 1920x1080 HD clips where the story is a little different: original 300 MB for 20 seconds of video, thumbnail 6 MB.
Once you have shared your movie, you can delete the project and the event from iMovie to regain the space. That will not delete your movie on .Mac.

I have these movies downloaded on the old computer from digital hd redeemed codes: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Super 98, Thor, Inception, The Hunger Games, and Star Trek Into Darkness. I bought Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on itunes with money, and that one isn't showing up either. When I search it on itunes to see if I can just re-download it, that isn't an option. I would have to buy it again. Home Sharing isn't what I want because the old computer will not be here forever and it is not connected to wifi.
It's kind of a lot of movies, and I want them on the new computer.

Are they gone completely from the computer, or just no longer in the library? Check your movie media folder.
If your'e in the USA you can download some movies a second time, but not all (studio dependent). You should always back up all media.

How do I manging multiple copies of movies for AppleTV and iPod in iTunes?

I do not have an AppleTV yet, but I am considering getting one. I was wondering how those who have both an iPod and ATV manage the syncing of Movies that may have different resolutions?
If I want to have the same movie on ATV and my iPod I would need two copies in iTunes at different resolutions, correct? At least when I look at the iTunes export in iMovie it shows I can have a higher resolution for the ATV than the iPod.
So, how do you manage the auto syncing of these multiple copies so that they aren't all copied to both devices? iTunes doesn't have good Movie management as far as sub-folders, etc. I would like iTunes to treat these copies as one movie and only sync the appropriate resolution for the device.
I also notice that multiple copies then show up in FrontRow as well. It would be nice if only the highest resolution would show up.

Just create 2 different playlists like
Movie-ATV
Movie-iPod
Put those video files with higher resolution on playlist Movie-ATV
Put those video files with lower resolution on playlist Movie-iPod
in iTunes Preferences choose your ATV only to sync the 1st movie playlist - and your iPod only to sync the 2nd one.

Can I play digital copies of movies on my iPod classic?

I recently downloaded my digital copy of a movie that came with my DVD-blu ray combo pack. The movie shows up in my library, but when I try to transfer it to my new iPod classic, it says it can't transfer it becasue it can't play on this iPod. Does this mean that all digital copies can't play on this iPod? Help!

IDVD copies the movie but not the sound

With IDVD one-step-dvd I try to copy edited movies from a Sony Handycam directly to DVD. Unfortenatly it copies only the images but not the sound. Anybody has the same experience and knows the solution? When I import the movie into IMovie the sound is allright.

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

Any way around keeping to copies of movies

I use VirtualHub to convert my DVDs to iPhone friendly movies. I also use it for getting the movies in Apple TV format. Is there any way to avoid having to conver the movies twice and have two copies in iTunes. I'm asking this because I notice that the Apple TV movies won't load onto my iPhone. I get a message that says they are not in a copatible format.

You can probably convert the videos to ipod/iphone format and those will likely work on Apple TV.
I believe the ipod/iphone have a max resolution (640x480?) while DVD's can go above that (720x480?). If the video is higher than the 640x480 it won't work on the ipod/iphone, but if it's below that then it should work on all 3 (but in lower quality on the Apple TV due to a lower resolution).
If you have quicktime pro, it offers an option to export in an ipod video format.

Make copies and move.

I always keep two copies of my photographs, one on my hard drive and one on my external drive. When I first import a folder I want to copy and move the photo's in the library to another folder but can't find a way of doing it via the library. Can you help please.

You can probably do it by checking the Backup box on the import screen. However I think there are issues with method in that the backup does not copy your file structure.
I think a more elegant, and more secure way, to do this is to get some kind of cloning/copy program (for the Mac Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper, ChronoSync, for the PC I don't know but there are several) and just clone your photo library whenever you want. You can set all of these programs to just back up differences and keep an identical copy of your library on another drive.

Unable to play legal digital copies of movies on Apple TV

I have two DVDs that came with digital copies and although they're downloaded and sat happily in itunes, I'm unable to play them on my Apple TV. It says that I am not authorised to view them and must use the ID and password that I used to buy them. They work fine on iphone, ipad and in itunes - it's just Apple TV. I have other movies on itunes that are viewable, it's just these digital copies that I am unable to play

In the meantime, you might want to try our 11.3 beta or rollback to a previous version of the player to see if that resolves the problem.

Digital copies of movies in iTunes show up as synced to iPhone but do not appear in iPhone video application.

I have copied several full length "digital copy" movies (.m4v) to iTunes (11.0.1 (12)). I've synced the movies I wanted from iTunes to my iPhone 4 (iOS 6.0.1) without any indication of a problem, but they don't show up in the "Videos" app on the iPhone. The only option in the Video app is "Shared" which appears to be a dead link when touched.
The first time I synced, the movies took several minutes to upload to the iPhone. Each subsequent sync takes only seconds, so it seems the movies have been already uploaded to the phone. In iTunes, the movies also appear in the "On This Phone" tab as well.
I've synced several times, turned off / on the iPhone and enabled all possible boxes I thought would work, but without success.
Anyone have any suggestions?

How do I get "Digital Copies" of movies onto my iPad2?

I am having troble syncing my digital movie library from iTunes to my new iPad2. I have downloaded iTunes versions of the movies directly from the website as required in the DVD insert and activated them with the appropritate activation codes, and they play just fine in my iTunes on my laptop, but when I try to sync them to my iPad2 they are not showing up. Any tips for getting this to work?

Are you sure they are on the device? Sounds like they are just in iCloud. Do they have a cloud icon next to them? If they do they aren't on your device and as such not taking up space. If you don;t want to see them you can go to Settings->Videos->Show All Videos and turn it off. This will hide all your iCloud movies from the videos App. but again they aren't really on your device.

Unfortunately that's not something you can change. To see the titles you need to tap on the movie. I guess Apple assumes the cover art already has the name so there is no need to repeat it.
