2 encoders 1 DAQ sync via rtsi for ellipsometer

Hey, this is my first big project. I need to program an algorithm to find a null in light intensity by crossing two polarizers. I rotate the polarizers with flexmotion and need to syncronize encoder positions to AI over an E series board. Both encoders may move back and forth a few times before I find the null. I would like to have voltage, and two encoder positions syncronized into an array. Any recommendations?
How should I begin to test my rtsi cable setup?

I have found that the best way to do this is to use a 660x witht he encoders and use the e-series for the AI. Then set the encoders up for buffered position measurement. Buffered position measurment latches the value of the count everytime a pulse is recieved on the gate pin.
This is really nice, because you can route your AI scan clock to one of the RTSI lines and then set the Gate for each counter to that RTSI line. This way everytime you scan an analog input you will get the value of both counters. In addition, the counters will be sampled at a percise time so that you can measure things like speed and acceleration.
I am not sure what programming language you are using, but you can combine some of the LV shipping examples like ContAcq&Graph wit
h the buffered position measurement. All you need to add is the route signal.Vi to route the scan clock to the RTSI line. I will include an example in VB.

How to synchronize two PCI-6602 via RTSI for semi-period counting of four signals?

Hello,
I try to measure 4 PWM signals. For that, I created 4 tasks (newest DAQmx), each with semi-period measuring one signal.
I want to use DMA so I have two 6602 for each two signals.
The task aquire a finite number of samples.
This works fine when starting the tasks subsequently.
Now I want to start the tasks via a trigger on the RTSI bus.
But I have no idea how to get this done.
I use the MX drivers for the first time an find it very difficult to get through the help files.
I looked at many examples but did not find a solution.
Most of the time my experiments end with an error message saying that the property is not applicable to this task, or s.th.similar.
Ans sometimes, when there seems to be a trigger defined, the task will not wait for the trigger and time out.
Is the anybody who can help me out of this?
Maybe a little sample program?
I program in CVI.

Google Calendar alarms not working in iCal when synced via delegation

If I set up syncing to my shared Google calendars using Google's Calaboration app, I get a half dozen or more "Request Error, Calendar could not be found" messages a day along with the annoying bouncing iCal icon in the dock.
If I set up syncing via the delegation method — as per Google's general syncing instructions (http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#ical) as well as this Google Calendar forums thread (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=210c119ea4d2d37e&hl=en) — iCal fails to display event alarms (i.e., the pop-up alert window).
I need the alarms, so the only thing I can think to do is to tell iCal to sync with gCal less frequently.

Having something similar here with Google and ical, seems to be related to when using Google Enterprise Apps for me and a third party provider is in use. In this case a SAML provider. It allows me to get to a login page and asks me which Apps I would like to allow to access my Google Calendar. Once I have made my selections and hit ok it then gives me a pop up message saying that authentication has failed. This is strange as I have had to authenticate with Google to be able to access the application sync in the first place.

Why can't I get a complete sync via dotMac?

I have two Macs running Leopard (on the same network at the moment) and a .Mac subscription, and I want both calendars to be identical - which used to be the case under Tiger most of the time. I have had some trouble with inconsistent data in calenders, and have followed advice in this forum etc. My steps were:
1. make sure that one of the computers (my Apple Mini) had all the calendar data up to date.
2. reset the .Mac data from the Mini
3. open iCal on the other computer (my iMac), and when I got a message asking if I wanted to reset the data from .Mac, I replied 'yes'
4. I noticed that some events which are on iCal on the Mini, and now presumably in .Mac, simply don't appear on the iMac. Others do. Specifically I have a four-day event starting tomorrow showing on one computer and not showing on the other one.
Naturally after resetting the .Mac data, I have tried syncing everything, but it has made no difference. I keep getting a message that suggests that I am syncing the iMac for the first time: I tell the machine to get its data from .Mac and then I get the 'inconsistent data' message. I don't see how the data can be inconsistent if I don't choose to preserve ANY of the information on the target machine (the iMac). What is it inconsistent with?
All I want at this stage is to make a completely synced copy (an exact copy) of my calendar data on my two machines and .Mac, based on the data on my first machine.
What am I doing wrong? And incidentally is there a way to look directly on the .Mac database to see what it has actually stored from my syncing efforts?

Sync has changed with the advent of MobileMe. I am now seeing good syncing between my 3 Macs as well as mail, iCal etc accessed via the web. So it all works now, but in a different way to when I asked the question

ITunes WiFi Sync works fine for 4 devices, but not for my iPad2

I'm using the latest version of iTunes (11.0.4) on an iMac with the latest version of Mountain Lion (10.8.4) and multiple iOS devices listed below:
iPad 1 (iOS 5.1.1)
New iPad (iOS 6.1.3)
iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.3)
iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.3)
iPad 2 (iOS 6.1.3)
iTunes WiFi Sync works fine for all the devices but the iPad 2. They all show up in the "Devices" area of iTunes (though sometimes I need to power them down and restart them to get them to show up properly) and they all sync automatically when plugged into a power source.
The iPad 2, however, behaves thusly:
- Shows up under "Devices" in iTunes
- Can be synced wirelessly IF initiated from the computer
- Does NOT automatically sync when plugged in to a power source
- CanNOT be synced wirelessly from the iPad itself, as under settings > general > itunes wifi sync, it shows the screen that says "to enable wifi syncing with itunes, connect to ituens on your computer using a cable..." as if I have this feature turned off in iTunes (which I do not). The "Sync Now" button is not displayed (not even a grayed out version).
What I've tried:
- Repeatedly powering down and restarting iTunes, the computer, the iPad, and the router in various orders and combinations
- Repeatedly turning off and on the wifi sync feature via iTunes
- Experimenting with the "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected" option as this actually fixed a similar issue on my iPad 1
- Actually restoring the iPad to factory settings, then restoring from backup in case there was an issue with the iOS install
Nothing has helped
What I'm sure it's not:
- A problem with the usual iTunes settings (check "enable WiFi sync", uncheck "prevent iPads from syncing", etc.). Since all other devices work and I actually can perform a wireless sync when initiated from iTunes, I don't see how the issue could live here at all.
Any ideas? I'm pretty stumped!

Another oddity: When this iPad syncs, it does NOT create a backup as part of the process (whether wired or wireless). All my other devices do, as one would expect...

DO NOT UPGRADE TO MAVERICK UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DEPENDED ON APPLE’S CLOUD. It removes the ability to sync Calendar, Notepad, and Contacts between your apple devices. You then can only sync them via Apple’s Cloud. For those of you like me, that do not want to be depended on an external data base accessible via the Internet or Cel Phone (with data charges).
Why do I not want to use the Cloud to sync and backup?
1. I found I only have one device with me at a time or am sitting at a computer when I add to my calendar, make a note, or add/change a Contact. Syncing with iTunes while upgrading apps and doing a back up to two external hard drives worked great and met my needs.
2. I use WiFi and pay for the minimum data plan with my Cel provider (AT&T). I do not want to pay higher monthly data fees.
3. I do not like a central data base (that will be hacked someday) having the personal info I have in my Notes, Schedule, and Contacts.
4. I like the security of my most important data being on my own hard drives and written off to Data DVD’s, not subject to even rare central system outages/failures.
5. I do not like the prospect of becoming dependent on a Cloud in which the provider could decide at any time to either start selling information or charging monthly fees to recover the costs of providing the cloud.
I am reluctant to go to the trouble to go back to 10.8 because Apple will eventual stop providing updates to 10.8 and 10.8 compatible applications.
PLEASE APPLE, GIVE US SYNCING VIA ITUNES BACK!!!!!! Why take away one of the most valuable features of iTunes???? Why take away our choice of syncing via the Cloud or locally with iTunes????

I have imported contacts from Outlook to Mail and they have synced via iCloud to my iPhone 3GS. I can't get my iPhone to make a call using these contacts but if I dial the number of any of the contacts on the keypad, the call DOES work! Help me please!?

TS1347 Have been using an iPhone and syncing with Outlook for several years. Since downloading latest version of iTunes, contacts and calendars are not syncing. Both items show to be checked for syncing. Any suggestions?

Native notes sync (via gmail) on multiple devices

I sync my notes (from the native notes app) via gmail over both my iPad and my android phone. I noticed today that if I edit a note (that is already synced with both devices) with my iPad while it has no Internet connection, the changes are not retained - it gets uploaded to my google account once I get Internet again, but gmail has them received two later syncs from my phone (a later time stamp) which then replaces my note with the last addition, and the old version of that note is instead uploaded to google from my phone and then pulled from google by my iPad, replacing my latest addition with the older (yet according to time stamp newer) note from my phone.
I guess notes doesn't have a way of checking which content is really the latest?
Now that I think about it, I might have opened that particular note on my phone after the ipad edits, but before bringing my iPad on touch with Internet again... Which would of course create a more recent version of that note, replacing the update on my iPad...
The nice thing is that all revisions are stored on my google account so I never lost any data.
Is there however a way to have notes detect such conflicts or no?

As you 'saw on the Apple website' (for example, in this kbase article), Notes syncing is over USB only. You state that you use MobileMe. To sync notes from a Mac to your iPhone, you'll need to connect the iPhone and sync via iTunes. Be sure to deselect other items on the Info tab synced by MobileMe (calendars, etc.) and be sure Notes syncing is checked. Have you tried that?
EDIT: Seems you figured it out yourself as I was answering. Is it working now?

Sync via wifi devices not listed in iTunes

I have 3 iOS 5 devices.
I attach each of them via the USB cable to my Windows PC and they are shown.
I select "Sync via WiFi" and remove the USB cable and the devices are no longer
shown in iTunes. I believe they are suppose remain in the device list until
they are detected via WiFi they are not.
I restarted iTunes, the iOS devices (1 iPhone 4S and 2 iPad 1 devices).
Attaching a power cable to the device does not make them appear.
They are all attached to the same WiFi network as is the PC.
Any insight appreciated.

Shut down your router, iDevice and your computer.
Restart ithem in following sequence:
1.Router
2.Computer, open iTunes
3.iDevices
Wait for a few minutes for iTunes to detect the devices.

Use of sync async bridge for webservices

Hi ,
We have a scenario where we need to send a data from ERP system to PI via webservice. PI communicates with a third party system via webservice.
The data can be posted to this third party system using webservices. The third party system then reads some data asynchronosly and sends the data to PI . We need this data to be sent to the synchronous webservice from ERP system.
Can we use the sync async bridge for this scenario. Some details on how we can do this will be very helpful..

The scenario is
ERP <---WS/SOAP--->PI -----WS /SOAP of 3rd party---> 3rd Party system (X).
PI <------- WS of PI
X posts the data to a backend. THe system X then picks some processed information. This system is not capable of sending the response synchronosly. It can post this data to PI once the data is available. Now PI needs to take this data and post it to the WS request from ERP.
Hope I have provided some clarity on the scenarion..

How can I connect the output of a force transducer unit(BNC cable) to the PCI-6036E DAQ card via the SCB-68 block connector?

I m using the 404A force transducer unit by Aurora Scientific and i want to connect the (converted to Volt) output, which is a BNC cable, to the PCI-6036E DAQ card via the SCB-68 connector block, facing difficulties in choosing the correct input mode for my signal(couldn t clear this using the manual), setting the switches and which channel shall i use in the block connector in order to configure ot with LABVIEW

Connecting your transducer to the 6036E card via the SCB-68 connector block should be pretty straight forward. You have 2 choices of input mode, Referenced Single Ended (RSE) this is where you will connect the screen of the BNC cable to a ground connection for the DAQ card in the SCB-68 and the other to any analogue input channel . These are listed in the device pinouts in the help section of MAX, under the 68 pin devices section. The terminal block numbers correspond to the DAQ card's pin numbers. Another method, which avoids ground loop problems would be to use the Differential connection and connect the signal and ground connections of the BNC cable to a differential analogue input, these are listed in the 6036E manual and in th
e MAX help section again. the disadvantage to using this method is 2 analogue input channels are used and you must use the lowest 8 analogue input channels for differential inputs.
The switch settings that you need can be found in the manual for the SCB-68 in table 2-1, the manual can be found here : http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/320745b.pdf
The switches are for power to extra signal conditioning and the cold junction compensation for thermocouples which in your case you do not need so set the switches to the positions in the first box ie Direct feedthrough, with temperature sensor disabled and accessory power disabled. The channel you use should not matter the only ting to remember will be that if you use differential mode measurement that you will be connecting the signals to AI(n) and AI(n+8) so differential input 0 is across the connectors for AI0 and AI(8). The channel numbers corespond to the analogue input number for the card.

Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. I REALLY need to get this fixed...it is causing major business issues. " No one so far has had a fix.... :(

Macbook pro calendar not syncing (via iCloud) with iPhone 4s

After looking through a few discussions I see some users having issues in syncing their calendars (from their computer) on to their iphone.
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and this seems to be the key issue.
I was showed from an Apple genius that when syncing via icloud (and to avoid duplicate calendar entries) is to uncheck sync, contacts and calendars.
Which I have and I do have icloud "ON" in my phone. But whenever I update my calendar entries on my Apple laptop it no longer syncs to the iphone.
Would anyone have any leads as to why it's no longer syncing? I'm pretty good at troubleshooting but I'm at a loss with this one.

Can I synchronize two pci boards - DIO-6527 and MIO6036E - via RTSI?

Thanks in advance. I'm interested in synchronizing a Analog PCI (MIO 6036E)and a Digital I/O board (DIO6527). But I am not sure if this is possible via RTSI. Can anybody give me some advice? Are there any Digital I/O boards which own a RTSI-interface?

Well, you can't do buffered pattern input with the 6527. You can only sample the digital lines one scan at a time through software. The speed of this is limited by the speed of the software.
Now, the MIO board already has a built in hardware trigger you can use to initiate an analog acquisition. You can also use your MIO card to "gate" the scan clock using one of the counters. (Only acquire scans while the gate signal is high, for example)
From what I gather, it seems you want to sample the AI and the DI with the same clock and be able to associate each analog sample with a corresponding digital sample. If you do need to do a buffered acquisition of digital patterns in addition to triggering an analog acquisition, then yes, you'll probabl
y want to switch to a 653x. Then you would be able to share the same clock between the two.
If I have misunderstood your application, then could you give me some more detail about what you would like to happen?
