2 local ejb and one remote session bean in same server - java client

idea was -
to create a new stateless session bean that will talk to the two entity beans. although the session bean will expose its method through a remote interface, the communication betweenn the session bean and the entity beans will be through a local interface. the assumptions is that all three ejbs are running in the same JVM.
so -
all three ejbs complied properly.
but -
when i tried to test with one 'sample test client' then this is the error i get.
please please -
can you look into the below error and let me know what possibly i'm doing wrong. i've been trying for last 4 days and can't figure out.
thanks a lot.

After you drop an ejb into the designer, you'll see a <ejb>Client1 instance created for the ejb in the backing bean (i.e. Page1.java). The client instance is a wrapper for the ejb. It contains all the remote methods available on your ejb. In your web app, you can invoke any methods on the client instance as if you're calling methods on a regular java object. The wrapper class knows how to invoke the corresponding methods on the ejb for you.

  • Problem Calling Remote Session Bean Method

    Need help. I am trying to call a method in a remote stateless session bean in an EJB in my web application from a stateless session bean in a different EJB in the web application. I am getting a run-time error that says,
    "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: dtpitb.common.sb.reports.CommonReportsHome"
    ref = ctx.lookup( jndiName );
    // Cast to Local Home Interface using RMI-IIOP
    commonReportsHome = (CommonReportsHome)
    PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref, CommonReportsHome.class);
    If while in a session bean of an EJB, I want to call a public method in the session bean of a totally different EJB, is there something in particular I am missing. I can make the call from the web application code. I can make a remote call from this session bean to itself in the exact same fashion. I just can't call a session bean in another EJB. All thoughts are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Pete

    Thanks for replying. That could very well be the case I suppose. I'm using JBuilder and WebLogic, and JBuilder pretty much does all of the deployment descriptor code for me. However, maybe this is something I need to incorporate manually.
    One EJB is in the same project as the web application code. The other EJB (common_ejb) is in another project. The calling session bean is in the project with the web app, and the remote session bean method that I'm targeting is in the common EJB session bean. Both EJBs are included in the web app's WEB-INF\lib dir and in the war file.
    So theoretically, this isn't an unconventional practice I assume?
    Thanks,
    Pete

    My requirement is to fetch a big size ASCII stream file from a remote location. For this can I use Statless EJB Session beans?
    For this EJB application & Web application will be on my application server side & EJB client should reside on the remote end side from where I want to fetch the file. - Please confirm my this logic as I am new in Java & EJB, I am having a basic query like this. (I don't want to proceed with EJB web service like (@Stateless, @WebService), I want to purly use EJB Statless Remote session beans - Is this possible?
    If yes, can I have one sample example URL pls?

  • Looking up a remote session bean javax.naming.NotContextException

    Hi,
    I am having trouble when looking up for a remote session bean from my ejb application. I am running jboss 4.0.4 with ejb3.0. I am trying to access a remote computer running jboss 4.0.4 but with 2.1 option. Following is my code
    Properties props = new Properties();     props.setProperty(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"org.jboss.security.jndi.JndiLoginInitialContextFactory");
    props.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
    props.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "admin");
    props.setProperty(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "jnp://192.168.10.130:1099/");
    Context ctx = new InitialContext(props);
    Object object = ctx.lookup( "ejb/com/blah/Manager/remote" );
              ManagerRemoteHome home = (ManagerRemoteHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow ( object, ManagerRemoteHome.class);
              ManagerRemote manager = home.create();
    I get an exception at the following line
    ManagerRemoteHome home = (ManagerRemoteHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow ( object, ManagerRemoteHome.class);

    Thanks for your reply,
    I tried deploying it under local instance of jboss. It worked. However when I add the following line
    props.setProperty(Context.PROVIDER_URL, host);
    even if host is set to
    String host = "jnp://localhost:1099";
    I started getting the following exception
    2006-11-03 10:17:18,319 ERROR [STDERR] java.lang.ClassCastException
    2006-11-03 10:17:18,319 ERROR [STDERR]      at com.sun.corba.se.impl.javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(PortableRemoteObject.java:229)
    2006-11-03 10:17:18,319 ERROR [STDERR]      at javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(PortableRemoteObject.java:137)
    As soon as I uncomment that line everything works fine.
    I have seen this type of exception before when I tried invoking the ejb on a different computer as well. I am not sure how to see what is the wrapper class for the object since the call to object.getClass().getName() prints something like this $Proxy184
    This is my code again:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.setProperty(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"org.jboss.security.jndi.JndiLoginInitialContextFactory");
              props.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
              props.setProperty(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "admin");
              props.put(javax.naming.Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces");
              String host = "jnp://localhost:1099";
              props.setProperty(Context.PROVIDER_URL, host);
    ctx = new InitialContext( props );
         Object object = ctx.lookup( "ejb/com/blah/Manager" );
              ManagerRemoteHome home = (ManagerRemoteHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow ( object, ManagerRemoteHome.class);
              ManagerRemote manager = home.create();
    Thanks

    Tried all username, password, still invalid,
    I am using url as the following:
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://hostname:12401/");
    Does the OC4J instance config affect the url, or url is only related with ip and port?
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.

    When you install OC4J 10.1.3 and run the command "java -jar %J2EE_HOME%\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar", the system will ask for password for the oc4jadmin user.
    I do not recall 10.1.2 version having this feature.
    If you were able to create new user in administrator group, make sure that orion-application.xml contains the following entries.
    <namespace-access>
              <read-access>
                   <namespace-resource root="">

                   </namespace-resource>

    This will allow RMI access to remote users.

    Sorry I wasn't clear. The remote panel license is separate from the number of LabVIEW development licenses. Pricing information on remote panel licenses can be found here.

  • How to get access via RMI from a session bean to a remote session bean?

    I have 2 J2EE applications in two different Sun Application Servers (8.0 PE). I would like to get access from one Session Bean "SB1" into Application A to Session Bean "BrickFacade" within Application B.

  • Calling EJB 3.0 Stateless Session Bean

    Dear all,
    I created a stateless session bean with a hello world method on it. Now i want to call the method from a BeanDecorator class, through a getter metod. When i use the jndi lookup in my getter, i can call the helloWorld method without a problem. However, when i dont use the jndi lookup, and only use the @EJB annotation, i always get a nullpointer.
    This is working:
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
                   test = (TestLocal)ic.lookup("test.be/ear~bd/LOCAL/TestBean/"+TestLocal.class.getName());
                   test.helloWorld()
    This gives nullpointer:
    @EJB
    private TestLocal test;
    test.helloWorld();
    What is the correct way to consume session beans without having to explicitly code the jndi lookup?
    Kind regards.

    Hi,
    any annotation like this can be used only in "managed classes" like Session Beans, Servlets etc. Managed classes are those classes managed by the J2EE server. Managed here means, lifetime controlled by server.
    You can find this in J2EE specification.

    Hi DRS, i tried your recommendation and injected the following on top of my servlet class:

    public class ValidateIdentityServlet extends HttpServlet implements

  • Please help on create files and directories in Session Bean

    Hi,
    I am trying to create files and directories at run time from a session bean. Since EJB 2.0 prohibit the use of the java.io.* package. The only thing that I know how is to use the URLConnection. After getting a connection through URL. I may use the getOutputStream() to get a output stream to write to the HTTP server. But the getOutputStream() returns an OutputStream object which is one of the package in the java.io package. Since I need to create file and directory, I need to use the FileOutputStream that is also under the java.io package.
    Can someone give me a hint what should I do. Here is a directory and the file that I may need to create;
    Directory1/Drictory2/myFiles.au
    Thank you in advance, your help is greatly appreciated.

    From 24.1.2 (Programming Restrictions) of the EJB 2.0 spec:
     An enterprise bean must not use the java.io package to attempt to access files and directories in the file system.
    The file system APIs are not well-suited for business components to access data. Business components should use a resource manager API, such as JDBC, to store data.
    You might want to look at the File System Service Provider in JNDI for an alternative approach. I have never used an FSSP though.

  • Odd marshalling problems with EJB 3.0 stateless session bean

    Hello,
    I began encountering marshalling exceptions when invoking methods on a previously functionining facade bean. The problem seems to be almost arbitrary, in that certain packages receive marshalling exceptions, while others do not (my main client started failing, but then I realized that a simple test class was still working, along with oddly JSFs that invoke that main client, which fails outside of that scope). Is there some config issue with stateless session beans (in 3.0) that I might be missing? There are no duplicate versions of these class; they have not been modified; they've been compiled with the current IDE. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How create  EJB 2.1 Stateful Session Bean in a EJB 3.0 Session Bean

    Hi All,
    We have been developing on EJB 2.1. We are now adding a module on EJB 3.0.
    How can we "create" a stateful session bean with create method signature similar to create(String id)?
    We have tried
    // this is the remote interface
    @EJB AddressBean abean;
    But not working
    Any help will be appreciated.

    There is no explicit create() call for EJB 3.0 session beans. It doesn't really matter though
    since you can accomplish the same thing by defining your own business method to act
    as an initializer for whatever state you'd like. E.g.
    @Remote
    public interface FooInterface {
    public void initialize(String id);
    // ... other business methods
    @EJB FooInterface fooRef;
    fooRef.initialize("foo");
    --ken
