2 novice question

Hi
i have 2 question about premiere pro cs3
1) import video , install Qlite http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QT_Lite.htm  can increase the video import or export feature ?
2) i'm reallya  novice , i'm a photoshop cs3 user , can i with premiere pro cs3 edit the colors ? make some some part more dark like curve or selective colors ?
thanks

1 - For SD (Standard Definition) work, Premiere works best with DV AVI Type 2 files
This cannot be stressed enough. This is the designed workflow for most NLE's, and holds for everything in the Premiere lineup. While some CODEC's can be worked with internally, most cannot. Conversion to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV will always work best. Even if you have the proper CODEC and it's installed properly on the system, there is no guarantee that Pr can use it. In most cases, it's a certainty that they will not. Also remember that because a player on your system can play a file, there is a great difference between playing a file, and editing a file.
2 - Look in the user guide you just downloaded to see what effects are available
There are many Effects in Pr, that have a correlation to the adjustments in Photoshop, Brightness & Contrast, Highlight & Shadow, Levels and Luma Curves are but a few. The PremierePro-wiki is a great place to explore, after you read the guide from the link that John furnished. I'd suggest that one read all of the FAQ's and then start working through the tutorials. Do not limit your reading to just your version of Pr. Much from earlier and later versions will still apply, though you may have to look for a menu, or be aware of a name change someplace. With a little study, you'll find a lot of similarities between PS and Pr.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Java Novice Question (don't shoot me)

    Hello,
    I wanted to ask a very novice question, that I can't seem to find an answer to.
    I have Eclipse IDE for Java, and I also have Visual Studio (C#). In Visual Studio, you can create a application project, drag and drop a button, then double click the button tod be taken to the code behind the button, that's where you insert your code on what you want the button to do once you click it.
    Is there something similiar to that in Java (I know there must be), where you can drag and drop textboxes, buttons, etc., and then double click those items to code?
    Any light that ANYONE can shed on this would be highly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Okay, thank you for the patience! I will download the "kitchen sink" version, and by that I assume you mean the biggest Netbeans file :)Yeap.
    Regarding "building a website"...by that I mean...I want to build a simple website, which incorporates (MySQL which I already installed, installed the ConnectorJ, etc.), a front end (JSP would be nice, which i'm learning), and ofcourse the backend Java coding.Right. Thats not what I got from your first message. I thought your were simply after create a rich client (I.e. Java Swing). Creating a web site is a more advanced topic. I don't know of any GUI editors for it, but then I don't do it (I half expect someone to post IntelliJ IDEA now). But we are just talking HTML and lots of HTML editors exist.
    I don't care how easy the website, as long as I can learn (on a basic level). You are going to have to look up tutorials on Java EE.Personally I don't think this is a "new to java" topic.
    (Scary, covers all of JEE) [The Java EE 5 Tutorial|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/]
    Re: "Right tool for right job"...are you suggesting that I have Eclipse for coding Java, and NetBeans for more GUI apps and developement?The UI for rich clients I do in NetBeans. Everything else I do in Eclipse. But this is just me, and I'm luck enough to be able to dictate tool chains.

  • Creating a Survey - Novice Question

    Hello,
    I am extrememely new to Javascript.  I have been doing some research online and copy/pasting code to create the results I need.  I am trying to create an online survey in which users select buttons to answer questions and then the total results appear at the bottom of the survey.  So far this is what I have:
    http://sicolaconsulting.com/SurveyTest4.php
    The problem I have with this is that on each line, a user can select more than one box.  I don't want this so I thought radio buttons would be better.  I then came up with this:
    http://sicolaconsulting.com/SurveyTest3.php
    The problem with this is that with the function I am using, I can only get it to display the value of the first line.  I need it to calculate the sum of all the lines.
    Can you help me revise the script I have to get my desired result.
    Here is my code for the first page, followed by the code for the second page.  THANK YOU!

  • Data transfer with some errors on registers. (Novice question)

    Hi experts.
    First of all i wat to say that i'm realtively novice in BW.
    I have an ods object.  I have a transformation>Data Transfer Processes>Infopackage to load data to it.
    I execute this with a process chain.
    well the roblem is that some registers I get are erroeous. That's ok, i just want lo load the OK regs, but when this happens the sistem does't load any.
    I want to load only the good registers and be reported about the errors too.
    Can someone please give me some advice about this?? I think thje secret is in the error handling customizing on the DTP, and maybe create a error DTP and something in the infopackage.
    Any tip to me please?
    Thank you!!!

    Hi,
    you need to maintain some parameters in the update tab of  the dtp.
    a) set the error handling to update valid records, reporting possible (request green)
    b) enhance the no. of error records to the size of the data packet.
    c) create a error dtp
    Now all records without error will be updated, the request will be green and so available for reporting. The records with errors will go to the error stack and can be edited there. The records of the error stack will be updated thru a error dtp.
    regards

  • IMovie novice questions

    Hello,
    I'm using Quicktime Pro to create time-lapse sequences from still images. I'm trying to create the highest quality movie possible. Probably a widescreen format, and I've got some questions that I couldn't find any answers for.
    1. What is the largest (pixel X pixel) Quicktime movie I can import into iMovie? I tried 1600 X 900 and it squashed the image. 960 X 540 seemed to fit.
    2. Once I've created a Quicktime sequence what is done next. Do I "save", "save as", or "export." And if export is the answer, which file type?
    3. Once in iMovie what video format is recommended: DV, DV widescreen, HDV 1080i, ...?
    4.Is there a tutorial or book that anyone can recommend. I've got the "Visual Quickstart Guide: iMovie HD6 & iDVD6", but I can't find the answers I'm looking for.
    Thank you

    Hi
    To be able to use Your iM 5 movie project on Your "New" Mac You need iLife6 and
    iMovie HD 6 that as far as I've read this forum should work OK.
    In iMovie HD 6 You can have several movie project open simultaniously and from one
    timeline copy over to a new open project. This without going via QuickTime Export/Import.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Totally novice question

    ok, probably i shouldn't be using a pro app if i can't answer this question, but i figure it's so easy that nobody here would mind giving me the surely obvious answer.
    i downloaded some youtube videos of a concert that i'm trying to piece together. 14 files in all.
    they all view fine in youtube, but some of the files (.mp4, their HQ options) are out of synch with audio/video, there's like a split second lag.
    normally for these type of things, i just use QT pro. but i brought the various files into FCP to adjust the audio track (-3 on the time line) and synch up the audio correctly.
    my question is this: how do you export a file in it's native/source format, or in other words, the same small .mp4. really, i just want to re-save the clip as it is, just with the slight audio track adjustment, but obviously it wants to re-write the file with the new rendered settings, etc.
    the point is that no matter how i export it (make QT movie, self contained, compression: NONE or animation), i get this huge new file from what was a simple .mp4 source file (i don't mind if it goes to .mov or whatever)
    i don't want to run it through compression again since it's already a compressed file, although i'm sure i could do it to make it look good.
    i seem to recall in old versions of iMOVIE that you could save as source or uncompressed QT file and the movie/clip would essentially be the same format as what was imported.
    can you do this in FCP??
    thanks in advance.

    yeah, i found a workaround for syncing the audio in QT pro and just doing that instead, seems to do what i need to do. i guess my question was how to export a sequence/file/clip from FCP exactly as it's source file, but all the uncompressed or current settings options for export seem to re-encode, render and create a huge file. what i was hoping for was an assemblage of all the source files in their original format with just a audio track tweak, but FCP seems overly complicated for such a seemingly simple task, or am i missing something?
    for example, if i imported a .mov 50 meg file into FCP, shouldn't i be able to export that file exactly as it is with no changes and have it be identical? (i know this makes no sense to do in real life, but it addresses my root question, can FCP export a file simliarly to a re-save?)

  • Real Novice Question

    I have just downloaded the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition, Version 1.4.2. I am very new to developing with Java although I have used applets and applications already prepared before. When I try to open any of the programs under the Java Web Start icon on my desktop, nothing will start. If I try to start Draw 4 App for instance, after checking for the latest version, I get a message: "An error occurred while launching/running the application. Unable to load resource: http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/draw.jar" It is the same with the other three programs under that icon, they all claim missing files and will not start the applications. Any help out there for a complete novice? Thanks.

    Thanks, I tried your suggestion and got the same results when trying to open from the Demos page.
    for Draw:
    "Requested http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/draw.jar Failed to load resource"
    for Swingset Demo:
    "Requested http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/swingset2.jar Failed to load resource"
    for Military Game:
    "Requested http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/mg.jar Failed to load resource"
    for A Simple Notepad:
    "Requested http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/notepad.jar Failed to load resource"
    Any other suggestions?

  • Rookie novice questions

    i purchased an app that never downloaded, it tries to but i get a message that it was unable to complete and it will be available for download when i login itunes on my computer.
    my questions-
    1- when i touch itunes on my ipad, it goes to a page with the terms and conditions. i dont see anywhere that i can login itunes or an itunes store page.
    2- when i open the app store, i can go into account and login but i dont see anything where i can resume an available download.
    3- if i login the app store, am i not logged into itunes as well?
    thanks for the help

    thanks for the help so far.
    so i logged into itunes on my computer. went to the apps and there is my app that i havent been able to download on the ipad. i connected the ipad to my computer, found the app in the store on the ipad and tried to repurchase so it would download. of course i get the message that ive already purhcased it would i like to download it again for free. i say yes and it starts to download and install, however i then i get a message, "unable to download application", the app wwill be available for download when you log in to the itunes store on your computer. I am logged in to the itunes store though. in the top right hand corner of the store page it has my name....
    To get it on your ipad, you would need to sync it over. It will then copy the app to your ipad. Go to the app tab on top in itunes and make sure the app it checked.
    2-why does the ipad need to be connected to my comp for this app. all the apps ive bought in the past have downloaded to the ipad without it being connected to my comp?
    I think that app is big. If you tried to download it over 3G, then you cannot not. I think there is a 10MB limit over 3G. You can only download it over wifi or through your computer. I am assuming you have 3G.

  • SQLite Linq to SQL novice question

    Hello!
    I have a simple question about SQLite.
    I have small sample DB.
    CREATE TABLE table1 (
    name VARCHAR,
    surname VARCHAR
    I inserted 3 records via SQLite manager to this DB.
    Now I'd like to read and this DB in c#.
    public class SampleDB : DataContext
    public Table<Peoples> peoples;
    public SampleDB(string connection) : base(connection) { }
    [Table(Name = "table1")]
    public class Peoples
    [Column(Name = "Name")]
    public string Name { get; set; }
    [Column(Name = "Surname")]
    public string Surname { get; set; }
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    var connection = new SQLiteConnection(@"Data Source=d:\via\simple.sqlite");
    var context = new DataContext(connection);
    var peoples = context.GetTable<Peoples>();
    SampleDB db = new SampleDB(@"Data Source=d:\via\simple.sqlite");
    var query = from q in db.peoples
    where q.Name == "Alex"
    select q;
    Variable "Peoples" is working good. But "query" is not working. What's wrong with this code?
    Thanks.

    I think you're supposed to use a regular SQL query with SQLite.  I'm not a SQLite expert so I'm not sure.

  • NetBeans or JCreator? and many novice question

    I am sorry I am new in Java (I am previously have an experience in ASP.NET C# development , now I am in progress migrate to Java..but I am really new in Java)
    I have several question when learning java :
    1. Which one is better NetBeans or JCreator? What is the pro and cons of both IDE?
    2. What is Java System Application Server PE? (some kind like microsoft IIS?)
    3. What is Jboss?
    4. Do sun have any official AJAX framework like Microsoft Atlas?
    5. Do sun have any official WorkFlow like Microsoft WorkFlow Framework?
    thanks

    I have several question when learning java :
    1. Which one is better NetBeans or JCreator? Whatis
    the pro and cons of both IDE?I think a lot of persons here would agree with me
    that you shouldn't use an IDE at all when learning
    Java, rather than a good text editor (e.g.
    UltraEdit). Because an IDE shields you from important
    stuff you have to learn anyway: classpaths, package
    structures, compiling and running a Java app, reading
    the API docs.
    I agree with you on all points. The only IDE I would ever consider reccomending to a Java Newbie would be BlueJ. The only reason I would do that is to instill (hopefully) good OO concepts and design practices.

    5. Do sun have any official WorkFlow likeMicrosoft
    WorkFlow Framework?I have no idea what that is.I have a quote that states the WorkFlow Framework from the 800lb gorrilla is 'designed to allow any application to add workflow functionality'. It seems MS is not content working with SAP on the [urlhttp://developers.sun.com/learning/javaoneonline/2005/coreenterprise/TS-5609.html]Netweaver initiative.
    MS is probably spoon feeding its developer community to ensure they employ all the latest and greatest proprietary features of their server technologies.. JMO..

    customer object being added to the arraylist is fine..u should have the customers.add() within a method...where you have that customers.add()?
    if its within a methed then just verify if the braces above are closed properly b'coz this error might come if the braces are not closed properly..

  • Novice Question:  XML File using FTP Adapter Help Requested

    I need to create (publish) a message from an XML file that is written to a particular folder on a Win2000 machine (I intend running the adapter on the same machine). I think that the FTP adapter should be the easiest way to do this but I have only used this adapter to publish DL3-defined files, and only then on a unix platform.
    Is the FTP adapter the correct approach or is there a better way, and if it is the correct approach, can anyone point me to a sample application or pass along a sample adapter.ini so I can figure out configuring the adapter.
    Thanks
    Eric

    We use the FTP adapter for both reading and writing XML files. And it works quite OK (there are a few gliteches but nothing you cannot work around). You need to first make (find) a DTD for your XML file and import that as the AV for the message in IS (IStudio). Then you just point the adapter to the correct directory and it should work from there.
    As for better way Im not sure I'm no InterConnect expert but I dont know any other way to do it.
    Might be worth to notice (if you didn't already know) that you dont actually need FTP if it is on the local filesystems you can in the FTP adapter read from the local FS something along the lines of file:///c:/foo/bar as oposed to ftp://...
    As for adapter.ini you shouldn't need anything besids pointing the reciver to the correct directory the rest is done from IS.
    Let me know if you want more details...

  • Novice questions

    Hi,
    We are a family of 5 and between us we have an iphone, ipad, 2 x ipod shuffle and 1 x ipod nano all under the same apple ID. Our computer is HP not Mac. I have a basic understanding of itunes but whenever any of us plugs our device into the computer it syncs the last users music automatically. Is there a way we can separate music to individual devices (some of which we want to share, some we don't) without going through the tedious task of clicking/unclicking the songs? Should we all have separate ID's?
    Also, how do we get the ipad / iphone to register that different people are using each device simultaneously? For example, my son wants to play 'draw something' on the ipad against me on my iphone.
    Thank you for any assistance you can provide.....please answer in detail and keep terminology basic

  • Too Much Code? Novice Question

    Greetigns,
    First off, know I searched for an answer but being that I am
    new to the AS game (as well as programming in general) I coudl not
    find an answer that suited my needs. I am using Flash CS3 w/ AS3
    Basically I have a row of images that serve as thumbnails;
    when I mouse over each thumbnail it changes the image in the
    background of my movie clip.
    I have assigend each thumbnail image an instance name and
    created a simple function to swap the image out. Everything is
    working great, and you can call me greedy, but I have a sneaking
    suspission that I could accomplish my goal with far less code using
    a variable.
    Anyone care to teach me to fish? Code below.

  • Novice Question-Can users insert or delete pages?

    Hi
    hoping someone can help, I have created a form with a simple table for staff to use as a report. Some will need one page and others 2 or 3 is there anyway to have the user insert a new duplicate page if they need to?
    thanks in advance

    Not knowing what is in your "simple table," it's hard to make suggestions. But if you have a text field in that table that needs to enlarge for different users, just make it a multiline field. Select the field, in the Object-Field tab, check on Allow Multiple Lines. On the Layout tab, check Expand to Fit. Make sure the parent form allows for Flowed Content. And this of course only works in dynamic forms.
    If you're talking about something more like adding rows to a table, that's possible too, but an entirely different procedure!
