I've got WLS 8.1SP1 running on Mac OS X (10.2.6, JDK 1.4.1) using theOracle Thin
driver to connect to a 9.2.0.1 db on WinXP. When I run a unit test thatuses
an XA connection, I get the error below (inside a much larger stacktrace). I'm
not getting this error with 7.0SP2 (with Mac JDK 1.3.1). Is anyonefamiliar with
what the code is trying to do here?

  • Sun Fire V490 x 2 servers with Oracle RAC facing Split brain problem

    Hi all,
    I have Sun Fire V490 x 2 servers with Oracle RAC and they faced a Split brain problem. One of the node's database instance has gone down, The DBA claims it is due to network problem, but as such the networks are OK. We use the on board CE1 interface for Cluster interconnect and CE0 as the public interface.
    Did anybody face this kind of a problem? Could this be a hardware/OS patch problem?
    I had kept a continuous ping for 24 hours after this happened last time and the output shows no packet loss
    Many thanks in advance.
    Ushas Symon

    In order to diagnose this properly, you'll need to provide too much detail and far too many log files for a generic discussion forum to handle.
    Use your service contract and open a support case.
    Because a cluster environment is involved you'll likely end up talking to the cluster support staff.
    They can analyze hardware and software errors as well as review whether you configured the systems in a supportable fashion.
    Be prepared to make a direct connection to each system and gather data using such as by using the Explorer tool. The technical support staff will tell you what they will actually need.

    Sri - Thanks for your response.
    Please find below the JVM memory setting of the managed server where the OSB application is deployed
                   -Xms:2048m -Xmx:2048m -Xns:700m -Xgc:gencon -XX:+UseNewHashFunction
    I don't think there is any problem with the JVM settings as it is working in other domains. PFB full stack trace

  • MOD_WL - Apache 2 frontend stuck when one of Weblogic Servers stuck

    We are using an Apache 2 Web Server as a frontend of our Weblogic Server 10.3.2 installations,
    using mod_wl configured as follow:
    <Location "/csi">
    WebLogicHost jerico.procergs.reders
    WebLogicPort 8012
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    ErrorPage http://www.consultasintegradas.rs.gov.br/FalhaConexao.html
    </Location>
    The Weblogic Server is using a default workmanager.
    When Weblogic Server gets overload by "stuck threads", "out of memory", "connection pool out of
    resources" or similar reasons, the Apache Web server always get stuck with many slots in WAIT
    state. This stops acess to all Weblogic Servers installations, until restart the Weblogic server
    which was stuck.
    Is there another way to configure Apache as a Weblogic frontend without Apache stuck toguether
    with any Weblogic under it ?
    There are timeout parameter to be configured in mod_wl not to stuck Apache when Weblogic stuck ?
    Thanks in advance
    Mauro do Valle

    Hi,
    The best way to get rid of your issue is by try to do the following stuff:
    - Use more WLS servers which are in cluster in different boxes. (i.e. This would help you to load-balancing and fail-over your request )
    - Use "*WebLogicCluster*" instead of "WebLogicHost" as you have to give the host-names of the servers which are in the cluster
    - By default "*Idempotent*" is ON and this is used for fail-over after *300* seconds as that's the default value for "*WLIOTimeoutSecs*" (i.e. if an response is not been sent by one WLS server for any-reason, then the response would be sent to the second server. ) This way if any one of the server has gone down for some reason and was not able to send the repose then second server would server the requests.
    Following is the example:
    <Location "/csi">
    WebLogicCluster  MS1HostName:7003,MS2HostName:7005
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    ErrorPage http://www.consultasintegradas.rs.gov.br/FalhaConexao.html
    </Location>For more information about the parameters have a look at the below link:

    Hi,
    I have a problem with an Oracle 8.1.7 database and Weblogic Server 6.0 sp2 both
    running on an HPUX 11 Unix box in that everytime I start Weblogic it sets the
    Oracle password to be the value of the Orarcle sid. I have configured Weblogic
    to have a Connection Pool to the database.
    Anyone have any clues?
    Regards,

    can you post your connection pool settings?

    -J-Dweblogic.system.name=Test
    My question, this works when I type the startup parameter, is their anyway
    to have this automatically entered
    on server startup.
    Is their a registry setting to make this permanent
    Thanks

    The answer is...
    - Use a product to turn applications into an NT Service (e.g.
    ServiceMill)
    - Directly run the Weblogic Server Java class via that application
    --> As many WLs on one machine as you like.
    Send mail if you need specific details.
    Best regards

    Subject: Re: NT startup parmaters for multiple weblogic servers started

    I wish that was the case.
    The problem is, while you enter the startup parameter once, it only
    is good for that startup of the weblogic server,
    The next time the server reboots and the services start, unless you
    re-enter the startup parameter -J-Dweblogic.system.name=Foldername
    The weblogic server starts using the wrong properties file.
    Is their anyway using NT services to have the correct instance of WL
    to start everytime.
    I have checked this newsgroup and this question has been posted
    before, but so far no one seems to have the answer.
    I know in a production eniviorment someone must be running more that
    one instance of a WL server as a service, Hopefully their is an
    answer on how this is done.
    Thank you

  • Enable Oracle XA Transaction Support

    Hi everybody. First of all, sorry for my terrible English.
    I've been some problems using COM+ with Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.7.0.0) and SQL Server 2000 and Windows 2000 for development only.
    I have one method that inserts the same data both SQL Server and Oracle (the tables and procedures definitions are identical) and I'm utilizing GetObjectContext method to commit or abort the transactions (the COM component were made in VB). Out of COM+ environment the method works 5x5. The error message is: "-2147168229 - Cannot connect to the transaction manager or the transaction manager is unavailable."
    Checking Microsoft documentation I found an article (http://support.microsoft.com/support/complus/mtsandoracle.asp) telling me to "Enable Oracle XA Transaction Support" so I could have transactional work with Oracle and COM+. OK, just fine.
    Does anyone knows how could I manage it? I am not a DBA nor I know one (an Oracle DBA), but I shall explain to my team how program 2 phase commit between Oracle and SQL Server.
    Thanks in advance, and forgive me the size of this "book". I should be shorter next time...

    Vivek, thanks for the help.
    I am utilizing these versions of Oracle Products:
    Personal Oracle8i Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production
    Net8 Client 8.1.7.0.0
    Oracle Services for MTS 8.1.7.0.0
    Oracle Provider for OLE DB 8.1.7.2.0
    The provider I first tried was MSDAORA with no success and then ORAOLEDB with no success too.
    But those entries in registry that you sent me were all with Microsoft dll`s. I will try again tomorrow and send you the results
    Thank you again

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI.
    Under this key add the following registry string values:
    OracleOCILib - oraclient8.dll
    OracleXALib - oraclient8.dll
    OracleSQLLib - orasql8.dll

  • Any kind of integration experience with Weblogic JMS and Oracle AQ?

    Hi,
    In my company I work with java developers who believe in some kind of "holly" database independence I don't understand and as a result my life as a database developer is hell on earth.. Yesterday we again started to discuss, this time where to log, they believe database is slow and prefer logging to filesystem, after some hours finally I could convince them for some operational and reporting needs to use the database and will do this in an asyncronous way whiich they won't get slow. After all I believe the reason for a database is data, this is the place where data lives, and with the correct desing and implementation logging to database would perform better.
    I love Oracle features, and know that we paid a lot for this software, so today I started investigating this promised solution. And quickly I found AQ and JMS topics in the documentation :)
    After this introduction here is my problem; my company use BEA Weblogic as application server and the java guys want AQ to automatically (but of course with some delay) take their JMS log requests into database tables. Does any one have similar application experience, or any kind of integration experience with Weblogic JMS and Oracle AQ?
    Any comments, references, documentation, sample code, url will be most welcomed :)
    Thank you very much!

    I wouldn't go as far to say Oracle AQ is out-dated today. However, it is indeed a proprietary technology that did not found much main-stream adoption in the earlier years after its introduction. The advent of JMS made it somewhat more useful (or should I say intriguing, because more people are trying to tie it together with other J2EE technologies), but the Oracle's JMS wrapper classes in aqapi.jar were not feature complete for a long while, so using it outside Oracle's application server was painful, if not impossible. I do agree that the info at the dev2dev's JMS newsgroup or in this forum is highly fragmented, as neither Oracle nor BEA provides an official solution to integrate AQ with WebLogic, so people like us have to learn the technology through experimentation and in a piecemeal fashion.
    3 years ago I was literally "playing around" - we had a polling mechanism set up to use triggers to write Oracle data changes into an event table, and had a Java-based daemon to scan that table and publish events as JMS messages to the WebLogic JMS server. This continues to work reliably till today, but I was looking for a solution that has few parts - I wanted to hook up my WebLogic MDB directly to AQ as a foreign JMS provider. Although I was able to get it to work (including XA), there were a few hoops I had to jump through, such as decompiling the Oracle AQjms classes to make them bind to the WebLogic JNDI tree.
    One year after that Diptanshu Parui took what I did a giant step further - he extended the Oracle AQjms classes to allow them to be bound to the WebLogic JNDI tree naturally, and he figured out how to use WebLogic JMS messging bridge to re-send single-threaded AQ JMS messages to clustered JMS queues, which allow concurrent message assumption by multiple instances of MDB's. My impression is that he is using that setup in a production environment.
    I am sure you are aware of it but I would like to make it clear - in order to use AQ as a foreign JMS provider to WebLogic-hosted MDB's, you don't need to update your database to Oracle 10g - Oracle 8i is good enough (although I recommend at least 9i Release 2). It is not the database engine, but rather the aqapi.jar JMS wrapper on top of AQ that matters. I do recommend that you use aqapi.jar from Oracle Application Server 10.0.3 or up for better XA support, among other things. Again, you don't have to replace WebLogic with Oracle AS - you only need a single jar file from it and put it in your WebLogic's classpath. However, I don't know what this means from a licensing point of view if you ever go to production - do you have to pay the full price of OracleAS or OC4J just to use the aqapi.jar?
    In the coming days I will test the latest aqapi.jar to see how much progress Oracle has made in terms of making their J2EE products more spec-compliant :-).
    Hope the above gives you a different perspective.

  • Applying SSO for more than one Weblogic Servers on the same Windows domain

    I've more than one Weblogic servers (developers machines, test servers, test clusters, clusters and etc.) on my windows domain.
    I'm going to configure SSO to all of them. However I want to ask something about SPNs.
    For standalone machines (Which are not clustered, developer machines & test machine) :
    Do I have to create a new Active Directory user like "wlskerberos" for each machine on my domain?
    For cluster machines
    Do I have to create more than one Active Directory user account for each cluster member like "wlskerberos"?
    For clusters, users don't see the managed servers' HTTP address which are behind the Oracle HTTP Server.
    Therefore am I going to add only one SPN and map it to the Oracle HTTP Server adress?
    Lastly for the keytab files, does it enogh to create only one keytab for all machines?

    Do I have to create a new Active Directory user like "wlskerberos" for each machine on my domain?
    yes, and u register the spn with that user
    For the other question, refer to this link
    http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/05/kerberos-in-a-proxyload-balancer-weblogic-cluster/
    Hope this answers!

  • Weblogic 8.1/Oracle 9 Writing and Reading Clob

    I’m trying to write and read a clob to a database table. The database table has
    an Id field (int) and a Content field (clob).
    My environment consists of Weblogic 8.1, and Oracle 9. Is there a way to get a
    handle to a Weblogic connection to Oracle and then write and read clobs?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Problem 1. US7ASCII and Linux - Status Resolved.
    The issue with the BEA 817 JDBC driver not connecting to the US7ASCII database tuned out to be that it had not deployed the connection pool correctly from the weblogic admin console... or that it was reported as being deployed when in fact it was not. After re-deploying the connection pool and restarting the server we were able to connect.
    The patch was for character sets was not needed.
    Problem 2. Oracle Stored Proc error.
    The problem with the stored procedures tunred out to be with ref cursors. A patch in sp3, and a change to the way we called the stored proc allowed us to fix the problem.
    The problem is reproduced when connecting to an Oracle 8.1.7 server.
    It was introduced in the Connect JDBC driver build 3.0.0007. According
    to the jdbcread.me file which comes with the 3.0.0007 build we
    deprecated the refCursorSupport connection property. This could be
    related to the driver not being able to execute a stored procedure
    containing ref cursors.
    Resolution
    Driver was fixed in the Connect JDBC 3.1 Oracle driver version 3.1.0008
    The trick was to use
    "{call PROC(?,?)}"
    instead of
    "BEGIN PROC(?, ?);
    END;"

  • Where did weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleThinBlob go?

    I just upgraded from 8.1sp4 to 10.1 and the problem I am facing is that the import
    import weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleThinBlob;
    is no longer valid. I cannot find it even to import. What am I missing??:|
    -Joe

    Hi
    You will find the 'weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleThinBlob' located in the 'com.bea.core.datasource_1.0.0.0.jar'. You will find this jar in the modules directory, in the top level of your WebLogic 10 installation
    e.g. for me, it is located in:
    C:\wls10\modules\com.bea.core.datasource_1.0.0.0.jar

  • Transaction problems

    If anyone can help point me in the right direction of what I should be looking for in my configuration files for the following transaction problem. It looks like the delete is being committed one entity at a time instead of at the ened of the transaction.
    I'm using OC4J, eclipselink and Spring.
    I have two entities that I am trying to delete. They have a OneToOne relationship which in the underlying database (Oracle) has a deferred foreign key integrity constraint. I believe that this means that if the intities are delted in the same transaction everything should work, but if they are deleted in seperate transactions then the constraint should kick in and disallow the delete. I am using code similar to below to attempt to delete in one transaction. I am using Spring to inject an EntityManager and to control the transaction handling.
    @Transactional(readOnly=true)
    public class ProductServiceImpl implements ProductService{
      @PersistenceContext(type = PersistenceContextType.TRANSACTION)
      private EntityManager emp;
      @Transactional(readOnly=false, propagation=Propagation.REQUIRES_NEW)
      public void deleteProduct(Product prod){
          Object managedEntity = em.find(product.getClass(), prod.getId);
          em.remove(managedEntity);
    }Spring configuration xml file

      Context ctxt = new InitialContext();
      emf = (EntityManagerFactory)ctxt.lookup("jpaTest/ServerJPA");
      em = emf.createEntityManager();
      EntityTransaction et = em.getTransaction();
      try{
        et.begin();
        em.remove(managedEntity);
        et.commit();
      } finally{
        if(et != null && et.isActive()){
          et.rollback();
    } catch(NamingException nme) {
    } finally{
      if(em != null && em.isOpen()){
        em.close();
    } When debugging the error is thrown on the line
    em.remove(managedEntity);before the transaction commit is called.

    Thanks for the reply.
    The managed entity being deleted in the call to the delete method has one to many relationship with one of the entities in the one to one relationship which then has a reference to the second entity. These references are annotated with cascade ALL.
    A --> B --> C. The error is referring to entity C and its relationship back to B. The error is being thrown before the transaction is being committed.
    After doing a bit more research I believe that it is caused by the lack of the following property in my persistence.xml.
    <property name="eclipselink.target-server" value="OC4J_10_1_3"/>But if I put this property in then I get the errorException creating EntityManagerFactory using PersistenceProvider class org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.PersistenceProvider for persistence unit ServerJPA.
