Can someone give us any clue ?

Hello,
First of all Thanks a lot. In fact i suspected that a version 7 shipped with 1262 AP was not matching the 6.0.199.... and so on. I already tried before posting here to download that version.
                                                                 BUT
(we are new to Cisco procedures) it seems that to download that fw version we MUST be entitled to some Tech Support Agreement (= PAY ?)
Is that true ? (Isnt kind of strange that 2 very expensive / born to work togheter pieces like that does not work out of the box and we cant even get a fw upgrade ?)
Maybe i am missing something ?
Thanks again
Gianluca

  • WLC+LAP+ACS4.0 achieving 802.1x PEAP and MAC address authentication ?

How to configure WLC + LAP + ACS4.0, achieving username and password authentication and MAC address at the same time

This might help with the PEAP:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2086/products_configuration_example09186a00807917aa.shtml
    MAC Authentication
Add a MAC Address to ACS
    Complete these steps:
    1. From the ACS main menu, click on the User Setup button.
    2. In the User text box, enter the MAC address to add to the user database.
Note: The MAC address must be exactly as it is sent by the AP for both the username and the password. If authentication fails, check the failed attempts log to see how the MAC is being reported by the AP. Do not cut and paste the MAC address, as this can introduce phantom characters.
    3. On the User Setup screen, enter the MAC address in the Secure-PAP password text box.
Note: The MAC address must be exactly as it is sent by the AP for both the username and the password. If authentication fails, check the failed attempts log to see how the MAC is being reported by the AP. Do not cut and paste the MAC address, as this can introduce phantom characters.
    4. Check the Separate (CHAP/MS-CHAP) box.
    5. Enter a password for CHAP/MS-CHAP (this password should be different from the MAC address).
    6. Click Submit.

  • Enable mode on 2112 WLC

                       Hi,
Do we have enable mod eon 2112 WLC ?
Also if we need to access WAP from WLC how can we telnet or ssh?
    Thanks
    MAhesh

There is no enable/config modes in WLC because it does not run IOS.
You need to enable either SSH or telnet (or both) on the AP from the controller settings (Saravanan metnioned the exact location where to do that in his previous reply. Thanks Saravanan). After enabling that you can telnet or ssh as you want from whatever terminal that can reach the AP on the network. (default username and password for telnet/ssh is Cisco/Cisco. You can change that from the AP settings as well on the WLC).

  • Wifi clients get disconnected in WLC - LAP solution

    Hello all,
I would like to know what are all possible reasons for wireless clients to get disconnected from LAP (to WLC) solution. We have WAN (MPLS) between LAP and WLC and on the remote site (where we only have LAP, since WLC is in central site) we have clients disconnecting
This is the error that we see in the traplog:
Decrypt errors occurred for client XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX using WPA key on 802.11b/g interface of AP XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
Can anyone tell me what can be wrong? Can packet loss cause this? Packet loss of which packets? Data packets or some other packets? Or can network delay produce this? I know we have fragmentation and maybe it can be that fragments are failing somewhere. But I would like to know what should happen in order for this message to be displayed and client to be disconnected
    Thanks
    Milos

    Hello,
I find out the answer couple of days ago. I totally forgot about this post :)).
Finally, problem was in fragmented packets that were lost in defragmentation in the devices in the middle (between Cisco WLC and LAPs)
I found out very annoying fact that Cisco WLC is not supporting ICMP redirect messages. In my scenario, some switch was returning ICMP redirect to every client on network where WLC resides. But since WLC doesn't support ICMP redirects, it keep sending fragments to this switch and eventually we had a lot of duplicated fragments going through our firewalls.
Those duplicated fragments were eventually start dropping and after this, we started having a lot of errors such this one, and also errors in log showing reply attacks and clients unable to authenticate.
As soon as the network was redesign to aviod ICMP redirects to ever happen (moved other firewalls on separate LANs so only switch was the only gateway for WLC), this problem stopped
    Thanks

  • WLC (Foreign-Anchor), problem with the external web auth -- ISE

    hello guys
I am currently designing a platform for a guest network, which must be isolated from the local network, the following equipment:
    ISE 1.2 (Cisco SNS- 3415-K9)
WLC 7.0.230.0 (Cisco controller 5508)---> wlc Foreign
WLC 7.0.230.0 (Cisco controller 5508)---> wlc Anchor.
The EoIP tunnel between wlc is performed successfully.
The wireless client gets IP address of the anchor wlc (DHCP server).
    Test 1:
I configure the WLC ANCHOR with local web authentication (internal), the wireless client is authenticated by WLC and navigate successfully.
    Test 2:
Configure the WLC to anchor external web authentication (ISE). configure a user in ISE guest portal.
The wireless client gets IP address of the anchor wlc (DHCP server), attempting to navigate not display the guest portal.
Debug a wireless client trying to connect to the guest network is attached.

    Thanks for your help Scott...
Now I presents another problem with the guest portal page. The wireless client obtains IP address and managed to reach the guest portal page, then enter the username and password page tells me it was successful. When I try to browse again brings me to the portal visitor page and asks me to enter user name and password.
    test 1:
the username and password created for away was verified.
Scoot will have some implementation details with the same scenario I am developing? I think I'm missing some details in the ISE does not allow me to navigate the entrance for visitors to be successful.

I agree go to version 7.4.121.0 I has some strange issues on prior releases. Personally I am running 7.6.120.0 right now but that's mainly due to support for the 3702 access points.

    Regards ,

    Hi,
This issue occurs because the Controller has an LDPE image installed, which is only needed in Russia where Data DTLS Payload Encryption is regulated by the Government.  Cisco only recommends using this image if you reside in Russia.  To resolve this issue and put the standard image on

  • WLC 2504 Connectivity Problems

    This is a tricky one.
I installed a 2504 WLC with three AP's. Two SSID’s were configured, one with WPA2/AES-TIKIP and the other with Web Auth.
After installation, customers could connect to WLAN without problem and .
The problem that is occurring is that since the beginning of week, customers PDA's, cell phones and iPad and cannot access Internet with any of the two WLAN but clients who used laptop have no connection problems. Also the DHCP Server is assigning IP's correctly.
This problem also occurs with test SSID I created which is Open Auth. I see associated Cell phones and IPAD to the WLC but none of these answers ping from the WLC.
This is a WLC 2504 with IOS 7.4.100.

    Hello everyone!
Today I did a test with my Cell phone Samsung Note 2 and I have the same conectivity problem.
I have installed the APK ipconfig from the Play Store for Android in my cell phone and y see that I getting IP Address, Mask and Gateway.
This is what I´ve got from the APK:
    IP ADDRESS 192.168.8.181
    MASK: 255.255.255.0
    GATEWAY: 192.168.8.2
    DHCP SERVER: 192.168.8.16
    DNS1: 192.168.6.16
    DNS2: 192.168.2.16
I have connected my laptop to the WLAN with no issue and I´m getting this:
The IP address of the DHCP Server is 192.168.8.16 and 192.168.6.16 and is a Microsoft Server.
I´ve created a test WLAN with OPEN AUTH but the problem remains.

  • Trunk with WLC and 1400BR problem

    hi everybody,
i have the next proble, i hope someone can help me
Actually I wrok with a 1522 Mesh Network,1130 LWAPP and Bridge 1400 point to point. 1522 and 1130 are asociated with WLC.
I have a WLC4402 (4.1.192.22M (Mesh)image) this wlc is conected via trunk to Sw3750 ex:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport mode trunk
RAP1 is connected to the sameSw3750 ex:
    interface FastEthernet1/0/23
    description RAP1
    switchport access vlan 10
    **(VLAN 10 is Mgmt)**
AP1(1130) is connected to the same Sw3750 ex:
    interface FastEthernet1/0/1
    description AP1
    switchport access vlan 10
The 1410BR Root is connected via trunk to same Sw3750 ex:
    interface FastEthernet1/0/19
    description BR-1400R
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 10
    switchport mode trunk
In the other point is the Non-Root connected to a Sw2960 ex:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    switchport trunk native vlan 10
    switchport mode trunk
AP2(1130) connected to the same Sw2960 ex:
    interface fa0/23
    descriptipon AP2
    switchport access vlan 10
The network is work fine, Mesh UP (RAP and MAPs), and 1130 too.I connected the 1400 Bridge point after the Mesh is up, and the link between Root and Non Root is UP
Now, when the Sw3750 goes down or reboot, the RAP and AP1(1130) can't associated to WLC. The ports of RAP and 1130 are down and up many times, so can't associated to a WLC. Only the Bridge point 1400 Root and Non-root are UP, and the AP2(1130) in the other side can associated to the WLC.
When shutdown the port of the Root Bridge, Now the RAP1 and AP1(1130) can associated to the WLC and the Mesh Net is UP. Then no shutdown the Root Bridge port and the link between Bridges are UP, AP2(1130) up to the controller too.
But after several minutes the Bridge down, and the event log in the Root is:Interface Dot11Radio0 Radio transmit power out of range.
    So i have this problems
    1) Trunks between WLC and 1400 BR
    2) Bridge conectivity range.
    Regards
    Antonio

The Outdoor Bridge Range Calculation Utility uses parameters that include regulatory domain, device type, data rate, antenna gain, and a few others as inputs.
You can avoid connectivity problems with the Outdoor Bridge Calculation Utility, as this tool helps you to predict the distance between devices. In a wireless environment without a tool like this, you cannot predict the distance between the bridges, the height at which you must place the antennas for maximum throughput, and other variables. This utility also helps you decide on the type of antenna that you must use in order to cover the distance between the bridges.

I could not find any detail information why the controller can't upload the file, I can ping both controller and both controllers can ping to the TFTP server.

Were you able to try it? I just noticed that you were able to tftp the controller config from an ap associated to that controller? It should be the other way around. You would be able to tftp controller configs as long as you are not on an ap that is joined to that WLC.
Tftp on the wired side should work with no problem.

  • Cisco AIR-LAP 1522 PROBLEM

Hello to everyone. They brought me a LAP1522 referring that it is not working properly. I am trying to connect to console port but the problem is that I only get log messages but I cannot edit something or type any commands. I have attached the log messages if you can catch something from there. Ignore the messages about not finding controller because the AP has been removed from the real network to my office.

    Reset Button
The access point has a reset button located on the bottom of the unit (see Figure 3). The reset button is recessed in a small hole that is sealed with a screw and a rubber gasket. The reset button is used to perform these functions:
•Reset the access point—press the reset button for less than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off during the reset and then reactivate when the reset is complete.
•Disable battery backup power—Press the reset button for more than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off, then on, and then stay off.
–You can also disable the battery remotely by entering this command:
    config mesh battery-state disable AP_name
•Switch off LEDS—Press the reset button for more than 10 seconds. LEDs turn off, then on, and then stay off.

  • WLC Mobility Group problem

    Hi to all,
we've two internal WLC which belong to the same MG (the default one), and one DMZ WLC which belongs to another MG.
    All are running OS 4.2.61
After configuring Mobility Group using the "edit all" inserting the WLC IP address and MAC of the MGMT interface and the name of the MG which they belong, I notice a strange behaviour:
    - WLC1 has Data path UP with internal's WLC2 and DMZ WLC...but Control path is down.
    - WLC2 has Data path and Control path UP with DMZ WLC and only Data path UP with WLC1
    - DMZ WLC has Data path and Control path UP with DMZ WLC and only Data path UP with WLC1
MG Secure Mode is disabled on all WLC's seeing the following bug CSCsk36683 (The mobility control path is down when secure mode is enabled).
Reachability via ping is OK, via eping the same but mping are not working from WLC1 to WCL2 and from DMZ WLC to WLC2
I've already restarted both controllers without success...what i've noticed is on WLC2 and DMZ WLC msglog there are a lot of these entries with a lot of RX errors ===>>>MM-3-INVALID_PKT_RECVD: Received an invalid packet from X.X.X.X. Source member:0.0.0.0. source member unknown.
    any idea?
    Tnx
    Omar

  • WLC - Wlapp configurations problems

    Hello,
I have connected the WCS to Wlc and WLC to AP
after giving the WLC basic configurations and AP management ip add, still i can not see the AP from the controller.
should I configure each ap manually and give it an ip add ? or it is enough to put the AP management ip add in the controller?

If you can actually manage the WLC using the WCS, you can "force" the WCS to "discover" the AP attached to this WLC.
Simply, in Controller tab, select your WLC and in the upper right list select "refresh config from controller" and GO, then WCS ask you if you want to keep the configuration of the WLC stored in WCS database or "refresh" it deleting the actual configuration; check delete and Go.
Finally, You can review if the AP now is shown by the WCS or not.
    Best Regards.
